Finally! Thank You so much!! This is so valuable and saving me time and $$$. Most KIA dealerships in the NY/NJ/PA areas have no idea what the clutch fluid even is. I hope you put out more how-to videos to maintain Niros. Thanks a million!
In the late winter on 18/19 I took my niro in for this service. The dealer knew nothing about it. They had to look it up for the process and cost. So in 2 years they had never done this on any cars. First service $60, 2nd $160. Then I figured out I could get more than what you showed with a manual brake bleeder and a small hose that would fit inside the rubber hose all the way down. I have 2 niros, 15 minutes both are done.
I just used your video and was able to successfully change my actuator fluid. Some things to note: the 12 or so round clips on the big bottom panel are easily removed by prying up on the very top part of the clip closest to you with a screwdriver. Also I did struggle somewhat getting the two 12mm bolts off the reservoir at first. I needed a 2 or 3” extension and had to start with the easier one towards the driver’s side first. Then I was able to rotate the reservoir a bit to barely squeeze my way in with the extension and successfully remove the other screw. Then when reinstalling I put them back in the reverse order. The first screw went back in fairly easy but lining up the reservoir with that other driver’s side screw took a bit because there’s no way to see if you’re lined up. All in all it wasn’t too bad and I thank you for making this video! I might’ve given up and brought it to the dealer without your help!
@@thevideogamecabinet3681 I did change out mine and found the white debris in the fluid. The only challenge I had was lack of working space with large hands. Great video. I was thinking about getting a Nero BUT this needs to be done every year doesn't sound to good a design to me,. The reservoir has a cap on it. Can it even be seen from the top? I am very grateful to you for your beautiful videos. Now I want to explain to you my topic, which is, in short, when it jerks and turns when straightening to the top, it is very annoying. Based on your beautiful videos, I changed the clutch fluid, but I did not finish the problem... The question is do I have to replace it? The liquid in the barrel and the actuator that is connected to the clutch fluid reservoir, or do I have to replace the fluid in the reservoir only more than once in order for the fluid to be renewed automatically, and is the issue of the shaker from the actuator originally meaning that it is not suitable, or is it after changing the fluid that it becomes better, and is there a relationship between the fluid The brake that is in the brake tank and the abs in general has something to do with this issue and the vibration in general. This is my personal belief, because if the brake is fully trampled on, I feel that it has been disconnected. necessary.
Hi there. First of all thanks for sharing (got a Ioniq so new subscriber ;) Was wandering what are the symptoms of a bad clutch actuator? I have a clicking/clonking noise and it seems like is every time when it switches from petrol to electric and vice-versa as well as when pulling away from stationary or slowing right down at slow speeds. Could that be it?
Thanks for video. The Kia Niro, even though almost the same, has the reservoir right at top front, not lower like Ioniq. The reason Kia(or Hyundai) charge like $250 for fluid change is because they do a purge procedure with the diagnostic computer that purges the air from system, and other things like checking the position of the resolvers. This air purge is needed for replacement of the clutch actuator. If just changing the fluid, you are not introducing air to system, so it's not needed. What I do is suck the fluid from the reservoir and replace every 10k miles, so it's pretty much changed completely like the 22.5k mile change interval called for in manual. Maybe at some point I will remove reservoir and clean like you did. For now there is no sticky residue, but it definitely gets discolored after even 10k miles. I subscribed to your channel, look forward to your videos.
If you only change the clutch fluid in the reservoir on a Kia Niro, which sits at the top of the engine compartment, it seems to me that you won't get the worst of the fluid which would be sitting down lower around the actuator from what I can tell.....I don't think the fluid circulates at all back to the top so I would have to assume it would have to be drained by bleeding a hose down by the actuator and cycling the actuator with diagnostics software.....?
@@lchown1813 that is not really correct for a few reasons- but first, if you think of the brake system, there's also a reservoir but the steel lines it's feeding are very small diameter and snake all the way to wheels, so very little fluid gets circulated. That's why the fluid looks about the same even after years. With the ECA, the hoses are much larger diameter and short length. Gravity alone exchanges some fluid down to actuator. The working of the actuator pulls more fluid from res. That is why it starts to become darker even after a few k's miles. Then there is the shop manual itself-it calls for the procedure to purge air when replacing the actuator. If you want to pay $250+ to the dealer, they will appreciate it. Otherwise you are not introducing air, and are changing virtually all the fluid with a shorter change interval, @ 4-6 dollars per pint.
@@land7776 Funny my manual says to change the fluid every 24000km which is 14000 km....wonder why the difference. I did just suck out the fluid from the reservoir the other day. I noticed that some of the fluid at the bottom got stirred up and was a milky color compared to the almost transparent color of the rest of the fluid. I guess I will just replace the fluid more often as mentioned and hopefully that will be good. My dealer only charged me around $100.00 or so to change it last time but I don't know what their procedure was, so not sure if they drained it down at the actuator and did th actuator cycling or changed it like I did, or maybe did nothing and charged me anyway....(considering the milk fluid in the reservoir). I also seem to remember at first they didn't know what actuator fluid replacement meant either. Thanks for the reply/
Do you empty the reservoir completely? Don't you risk Introducing air? Seems like you would have to drain the resveoir only halfway for no air to get in, but I'm not sure what the Kia looks like so maybe that only applies to ioniq.
@@zachary6572 I changed the fluid by just using a coolant tester to suck it out of the reservoir. I noticed some milky coloring at the bottom. I tried to get out as much as I could and refilled with DOT3 brake fluid. I haven't had any issues. I will repeat the process in a few months probably just to see if there is any milky fluid in there again. The car is still under warranty so I might be taking a chance by not having it done correctly, assuming that the dealership actually does much more than that though...I would have to ask some time what their procedure is. The first time I asked to get it done, they didn't seem to know what it was about.

I use Motul 600 for my 6th Camaro as I do track it. You think I can use the same to replace the fluid to the actuator? Thank you in advance
I admire your wonderful presentation and method of presentation, and about this matter in particular, my question is what is the correct way to put the clutch oil in the tank, and does it affect if the oil is put directly in the tank after installation, and what is the effect in relation to the air in the tank or the prybash? You have all my love and respect.
So, can you make a video of the method of changing the brake fluid for the Kia Niro, and do you need to program a computer after the replacement, or is there no need for that..
Hi what a good way you have explained. Really liked it. I just bought 2017 ioniq hybrid, going up hill while shif gear from parking to drive feel hard to moving the lever even press the brake padel all the way down , what could be the reason. Please explained, Regards
That is the parking paw holding the weight of the vehicle on a hill. Engage your emergency/parking brake when on a hill AFTER shifting to park with foot still on the brake. Also keep foot on brake when shifting to drive from park BEFORE disengaging the parking brake. Problem solved.
I have a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq, and i want to change out the engine clutch actuator fluid. I’m ready to do what you showed in the video, but I’ve read stuff online about some computer program to suck air out of the engine clutch acuator…or something? Is any of that necessary? I don’t want to deal with any computer programs. Will everything work just fine if I just change out the fluid as shown in your video? Update: Last night, I stuck a turkey baster inside the fluid reservoir and sucked out about half the fluid and refilled the reservoir up to the top with new dot 3 brake fluid. The whole fluid reservoir looks a little cleaner today, and the car is running fine. I plan on doing this again maybe in the next couple days. But next 22k interval, I will take it to the dealer for a full cleanse and flush. They charge $200, and it’s okay once in a while.

A Discovery into the unknown. Brilliant explanation and presentation of the subjects. Prevention is better than a co$tly replacement part due to lack of maintenance, not knowing the results of Environmental impact on the parts. I have a late 2016 Auris wagon hybrid, it was high mileage when purchased 4 years ago in cold weather it sometimes makes a grinding noise and clunk at the end of a journey upon leaving the vehicle. Would this noise be the solenoid valve engaging needing some lubrication? Or fluid change. Gen 3 prius technology on board.

Hello, I have a problem with my Hyundai Ioniq HEV (French, 2016, 60000 Km) I sometime feel « vibrations » while driving. It's pretty regular and I don't know where it can come from. I have the feeling that it could comes from a slipping clutch !? If I understood correctly there are several clutches in this car, two in the gearbox and one between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor. I've never felt this vibration while in electric mode, it's only when the ICE is running. The vibration often occurs uphill at low speed and high gear (5th or 6th), I don't think I've ever heard it downhill. It occurs between 50 km/h and 120 km/h, above and below these speeds I don't think I've ever heard it. I'm afraid it will damage something, I'm going to make an appointment with my dealer but I know they always struggle finding this kind of random problem. That's why I would like to evaluate before where it can come from. One thing important, in manual gear mode, when the problem occurs, I see the rev counter which varies and rises a little in the revs ! I guess this proves that the engine is running a little faster as if the clutch is slipping ? When i bought the car, the clutch fluid had bever been changed. As I was having this problem, I replaced the fluid (folowing your great advices !! 😊) but it didn't change anything. It seems there is a need to "reset the learning process" after changing the clutch fluid, can you tell me how we can do this and, do you think not resetting the learning process could explain why my problem persists? Does anybody have ever encounter this kind of problem and do you know where it can comes from ? Thanks for any help.

Thanks again for all your informative videos, awesome help for some of us who know so little about the hybrid vehicle. When replacing the (Brake fluid) would you recommend Dot3 or Dot4? I use Motul 600 for my 6th Camaro as I do track it. You think I can use the same to replace the fluid to the actuator? Thank you in advance
Dot 4 fully synthetic always the very best 👋😎
Great question...any good answer?
When do you feel an improvement in the performance of the clutch player after changing the fluid, meaning does it take time for the results to appear
It at all… just a smooth shifting and that’s it
I admire your wonderful presentation and method of presentation, and about this matter in particular, my question is what is the correct way to put the clutch oil in the tank, and does it affect if the oil is put directly in the tank after installation, and what is the effect in relation to the air in the tank or the prybash? You have all my love and respect.
Thank you Omar 👋😎… in the video I’m showing how I consider the best way to refill the reservoir…
Great video!!! I’m watching it for my Niro.
great video as always thank you for sharing
Thanks a lot 👋😁👋😁
Very nice . Thanks
Maybe you can do guid for more IONIQ maintenance.
Thanks
We have many good videos about ioniqs here in the channel... check them out ☝😎
So, can you make a video of the method of changing the brake fluid for the Kia Niro, and do you need to program a computer after the replacement, or is there no need for that..
What type of brake fluid do you use?
Hi mate what software you use to bleed the air out from actuator. Please let me know
Any bidirectional scan-tool will do just fine 😎
if you dont remove air from the sistem with diagnostic tool, isn't the level gonna drop after you start driving and the air is pushed out? Thanks.
And congratulations! I have a 2020 Ioniq. Great choice!
Thanks brother. You saved me.
Did you do it from the top of the hood? How did the turkey baster reach the tight spot?
Hi! What tools did you use for displacing 12mm bold from assembly? It was hard to access there with my ratche extension.
Might need a wobbly extension or a U joint adapter from the extension to the socket.
Thank you, Jose. Just used your video.
DO YOU NEED THE GDS TO BLEED OUT THE AIR IN CLUTCH ACTUATOR?
Great video as usual, Thanks for sharing Bro👍
Stay Safe👍
Thank you so much Salsam Khan ☝😎
Hi .. I love your channel . My Canadian 2018 Ionic was in for 78000km service and I asked the dealer about changing the transmission fluid and the clutch actuator fluid and they recommended I don't need to do it .. any idea why ? Keep up the great work !
Because they want you to replace the gearbox or the clutch for a very expensive price!Im in the Uk 🇬🇧 and the some of the dealerships told me do not change this fluids.Than finally I found 1dealership whom replaced the fluids. The transmission fluid must be changed at every 60K miles the clutch actuator fluid every 25K miles.
Jose, how did you push out air from the clutch actuator?
Scantool in special functions... very easy... however it is not need to do so in this case...
Hi hose, please tell me what the symptoms are in the car when it has problems with the relay baring. For example I have a 2017 Hyundai ioniq hybrid and for about 6 months my engine was shaking at speeds between 30 50 mph. my question is what are the symptoms of the relay baring problem. Does something appear on the board or is it something mechanical, i.e. the shaking? Thank you very much, I hope you will answer me.
Did it no need to do a "remove air from the clutch" via diagnostic, i did replaced a fluid yesterday, when i come to do a release air on my ( thinkdiag+ ) its do some actuator movements ( i hear it ) but the get obd disconnects and actuator continue to do movements until i switch of a car ( kia niro 2019 ), the car drives normally, the fluid was dirty and reservoir has a bit "sticky material" the car odo is 156K km, but i own it from 102K km, im not sure if someone replaced it in past i think no.
Follow the instagram page and send me a video via DM to see and hear the noise...
Hi! I have a jerk, a power outage on the low speed electric Hyundai ioniq hybrid! Do you have any idea what it might be?
Send me a DM via instagram.👋😎
would it be ok to use Dot 5.1 brake fluid, I see DOT 5.0 is silicon based and is not compatible with anit-lock breaking systems. Which brake fluid would you suggest using, thanks
DOT 5 is incompatible with DOT3 or 4. Use DOT 3 or 4
Great info.
Being that the fluid circulates, could you simply siphon out the fluid, or use a turkey baster, every 20k miles or so? I have a 2021 Kia Niro with 17k miles on it and the "techs" don't understand the actuator fluid. I've asked about changing it per the owner's manual and they just look at me like I have three heads.
You can now do it your self with no problem ☝😎
Lmao, yes you can siphon it out it says its ok to do so in the manual. Or pull the hose off the actuator but then you have to bleed it
How did you end up replacing actuator fluid?
@@yurivic I use a turkey baster every 5000 miles and top it off with new DOT 4 .

Super but the liquid inside the mecatronic not change ?
Do this every service and you won’t need to deal inside the mechatronic…
We need a video on the transmission/clutch/actuator system for the Honda Vezel 2019.
@@hybridsolutiondiagnostics thanks for your advise and explanation very good job

Is there a way to actuate the servo motor to pump all fluid from the clutch unit? Without having software that seems unavailable to the normal person.
It doesn't have any bleeder ☝️🥲🥲🥴🥴🥴... so this is the very best way.
Will a 12 fluid ounce bottle be sufficient to completely refill plastic reservoir ?
Honda vezel is the same, but there got 2 release bearings, how expensive is it to change those fluids, its a get a 1 liter dot 4 brakes fluid, drain the bottle an pull a vacuum so you can get the oil fluid out from the release bearings, add the new fluid an do the calibration, an bleed procedure with a high tech scan tool.
Is this the same as a 2020 hyundai ioniq hybrid plug in se??
Dear Sir, you have a request. If possible, I want to make a video regarding the brake fluid replacement for the Kia Nero Hybrid 2017 quickly, then the method of replacing the clutch fluid from the clutch operator if possible, and does it need after the fluid replacement for the brake and clutch, computer programming work... You have all my respect and Appreciation for your efforts.
Do you use just regular brake fluid? yours is real clear looking. Does Hyundai recommend any?
Just Dot3 or Dot4 brake fluid. You don't need to buy any special fluid.
The type of brake fluid is engraved on the reservoir's lid.
Is it possible to pump if my tank is clean? And fill a new liquid?
Yes of course... as long it is in good condition just suck it out and inject back in new dor 4 fluid
Must do if scanner to get air out as in this video show?
m.ruclips.net/video/xjuuwKvZifI/видео.html
Can you buy a metal reservoir? And replace it
If you only change the clutch fluid in the reservoir on a Kia Niro, which sits at the top of the engine compartment, it seems to me that you won't get the worst of the fluid which would be sitting down lower around the actuator from what I can tell.....I don't think the fluid circulates at all back to the top so I would have to assume it would have to be drained by bleeding a hose down by the actuator and cycling the actuator with diagnostics software.....?
Hi, This is my question too.
How can I change the fluid completely in the clutch inside below? Thanks
Smashing my friend
Thank you professor ☝😎
Is it necessary to change the fluid? Because my mechanic says it's not mandatory, and where can there be a leak? Because I see that there is moisture ..
Good 👍
Hi, Can you pls post a video with brake bleeding procedure for Kia Niro Hybrid? Thanks!
How often do you change thi fluid?
Every 22500 miles or every year
How often should I change my actuator
I change it to my customers ioniq every single service ☝️😬
Very helpful
Hello sir, if someone told me that the clutch pump must be dismantled and the clutch tank cleaned, then the fluid is removed from it and replaced with a new one, then the air is bleed from it??

Does anyone know how many fluid ounces it took to fill plastic reservoir ?
why not just add a longer hose and move the resivor where it is accessible from the top?
Hey can you post you shop address I have a 2016 nissan hybrid Xtrail thanks

👍
Shout out to TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
For 2020 kia niro hybrid they changed the position of the reservoir to the top of the engine bay,so all of this is unnecessary, you just pop the hood and its right there boom 💥 and you just do it from there.
Chang it ever 30k miles??
Yes... or once a year...
duh, no. Even the manual says 22.5k miles. Do it every 10k miles..
How to fix u1011 code
Hello,
I have a problem with my Hyundai Ioniq HEV (French, 2016, 60000 Km)
I sometime feel « vibrations » while driving.
The cost for failure is high. Over $2,000
Yes indeed ☝️🥴
@@hybridsolutiondiagnostics I sadly have experience. Clutch failure at 132,000 miles.
What do you mean? Failure of not replacing the clutch actuator fluid correctly? Or failure of not changing the fluid regularly?
@billt.4422 if you don't replace when you car starts acting as though it needs changing you can blow the clutch or slave master cylinder
@@billt.4422 car will act jerky when chaging from gas to electric. Especially noticeable if going down a hill or rolling up to stop light. If your car is jerky or hesitates it could be a sign to change the fluid.
