Learning to sew your own clothes can be utterly life changing. Forget squeezing into ill-fitting garments which aren’t to your taste, or struggling to find anything in your size-once you can sew, you can make a whole closet of clothes, in any style or fabric, to fit your body.
But learning to sew can be intimidating if you’ve never picked up a needle, and even more so if you’re not in the size range of a lot of beginner patterns or sewing books.
"Sewing the Curve" teaches you how to sew a closet of gorgeous garments. Beginner-friendly, this book will take you from threading your machine to completing your first garment that fits and expresses your personal style. And, it comes with 6 patterns (worth over $130!) in sizes 12-32 and cup sizes C-H, so you can practice and master new skills on patterns made for bodies just like yours.
Jenny I wore quilting cotton sheath dresses for years. I mowed lawns, worked the gardens, cared for children... All in this style completely unlined. I wore a half slip and was comfy and cool all summer.
I have watched many sewing tutorials from other channels. You are the BEST sewing tutorial instructor I have encountered this far! Your directions are way beyond clear and your cameral angles are perfect! If this dress pattern was in smaller sizes, I would have purchased your book last night. Please, please provide this pattern in smaller sizes. Question. : Do all your patterns on your website come with your excellent video sewing tutorials? You are amazing! ❤
Wow, thank you! Most of my patterns come with photo or video sewalongs but not all of them are hosted by me.
1:12:53 oh my God, thank you for mentioning that! This happens to me so often and it has been driving me mad, because I thought I was just that sloppy with marking, cutting or sewing 😂
Good to know it happens to others as well!
Thank you for this very good, educational video. I have learned a lot. You are a very good teacher!
I absolutely love this dress. Do you have plans to release this pattern in smaller sizes? Thanks! ☺
A big THANK YOU Jenny and Cashmerette..
I am now in my 60s and retired…I have had a love of sewing since I was a young girl, when I made summer dresses very quickly without any finishing that ‘fitted where they touched’ !!
You have upped my game no end and given me confidence and so much inspiration…
It is wonderful to now have the time to emerse myself in your books, patterns and sew alongs….i just completed the montvale dress, withe the sleeves, best fit and finish ever ☺️👍
Now onwards to work through your other projects…
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, so happy to have found you 👏🧵💕Xxx
Thanks so much for sharing!
I have been sewing many years but never tried an invisible zip although I have bought a few, you have made the instructions so eady to follow I cant wait to have a go thankyou
Thanks for showing details on invisible zip and lining. I use this method when I’m just sewing on a facing, but I’m going to try with this zip next. Glad to find your channel!
Glad it was helpful!
The best video I have ever seen just Love your step by step was just fantastic. A lot of questions I had you answered in this video❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic tutorial.
What would be good is if the pattern could be sold on its own. It's a winner.❤
Thank you. That's so thorough and simple.
Glad it was helpful!
I am sooooo excited to try to make this dress❤.
🙏🏽 Thank you
Have fun!
Great tutorial on the zipper. I've never found an invisible zip foot does a better job then the regular zipper foot. With that particular type you're using, you can get really close to the teeth. Lately I've started hand sewing zippers in using a couture finish, its definitely not for sewists who dont like hand sewing 😅 [which used to be me], but the result is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing!!
Is it possible to do the same tutorial with a back vent?
I use this video to add back pleats / kuck pleats to my dresses and skirts.
There are a few more also on YT that also include ones with linings.
Hope they help.

Could you do those early 1960-1963 Sheath dresses/Jiffy dresses?
Did I miss the finished result?
Where can I buy this pattern please
It is a pattern from my book, "Sewing the Curve" which you can purchase at cashmerette.com/STC
