I ran out of room for the title 😂 so just to reinforce the idea of this video, these are vocalists that only sang on one album for a certain band! We both know many of these guys came from other bands, gone on to other bands & even produced some solid solo material! Throw down a few in the comment section that you’ve thought of 🤘 Thanks as always ~ Darcy

"Born Again" is a remarkable album and Gillan has done a great job, but I'd love to hear it with Ozzy on vocals!
The first that comes to mind is that insufferable Uriah Heep album, the only one with John Sloman on vocals, 1980's "Conquest"...hard to live up to David Byron and John Lawton and most of the songs are below average ...

    1. Ian Gillan with Black Sabbath - Born Again. (I can't say Glenn Hughes cuz even though I like "Seventh Star," I wouldn't say it "rules".
    2. Graham Bonnet with Rainbow - Down to Earth and with Michael Schenker Group - Assault Attack

Here's some that I figured out and my opinions:
Uriah Heep - Conquest (Pretty terrible)
Yes - Drama (Awesome, surprisingly works)
First Dream Theater album (Sounds like a cheap Rush copy, the band hadn't found their sound yet)
Rainbow - (In both cases, Graham Bonnet and Doogie White, worked quite well)
Deep Purple - Slaves and Masters (Songwriting wasn't up to par. Could've worked though, but didn't)
Foreigner - Unusual Heat (Was pretty average, not successful)
Anthrax - Fistful of Metal (Singer sounds a little goofy, still a great record. Glad they replaced the singer though)

I don’t listen to music for “intelligence”. I think the album sales and turnouts at the shows during this time, told the story best. I’d say I’m in the vast majority of ppl that think Corabi never really fit in with the Crûe.
As a matter of fact, he made a huge mistake leaving The Scream. That is the band he was in that could’ve actually hit it big. It’s my next to least favorite Crüe release(next to New Tattoo🤮) & they should’ve changed their name, imo. Great video tho! Hi Darcy. "Shout At The Devil" got me into Mötley Crüe and I really love that album, however, after that things, for me started going downhill until the '94 ST album came out. I had started listening to heavier stuff and this new album with John Corabi really blew me away! A much heavier, serioius and musically improved band in my opinion, and probably my favourite Mötley Crüe album. Really hoping for a vinyl release. As far as the Van Halen album with Gary Cherone goes, I'm really sad that everything was rushed and the album is a bit of a mixed bag, because Gary is an awesome vocalist but was not given a fair shot... Onsaught´s "In Search..." was announced as "Blood On Ice" when Sy was still in the band, I don´t know if he recorded any demos for the album. Onslaught played one European tour with Grimmett, Annihilator was opening. There were maybe 50 people there and after Annihilator left the stage only maybe 15 remained to watch Onslaught.
The Annihilator record came out after Omen. It´s a shame Coburn only recorded two albums, he has a great voice.
I have "Born Again" on vinyl as an unmixed version that sounds way better than the actual album, it also has an unreleased song called "The Fallen". It´s about time for a reissue of the album!!! This is a textbook case of which album you hear first by a band you come to like becomes your favorite. I LOVE that Onslaught album, I love all of the albums with Sy as well but there's something extra special about In Search of Sanity for me. I was into Grim Reaper and a buddy at school told me their singer just joined a thrash band, so Wow I bought the cassette and yes, I know, the stupid intro is 8 fucking minutes long, but then the rest of the album RIPS! It's true the production is squeaky clean and a little sterile for thrash, but the Riffs are There, and Grimmet gives probably his best performance ever! I dig it very much, even the AC/DC cover. Another record that a singer did only one record with an established band is Rainbow's Down to Earth with Graham Bonnet, sure he's not Dio, but he's way better than Joe Lynne Commie, ER, ahem, Turner. Some good songs on that record.

But I am kinda weird in terms of what I like and what I don't like :D The self-titled Crüe album is my favorite Crüe, and I much prefer Corabi as a vocalist. Had a hard time coming up with examples other than Yes - Drama. The ones I'm thinking of were on at least 2 albums like Tim "Ripper" Owens (rules!) on two Iced Earth albums and Paul Menel (doesn't rule) on two IQ Albums.

First album that came to mind for me is Candlemass - Chapter VI. I stayed away from anything after Messiah for a couple decades but when I got this album I loved it. I listened to it a lot. Thomas Vikstrom did a great job. Born Again slipped my mind. I love side A of that album, but I'm not fond of Side B. I'm to lazy right now to look up who sang on St. Vitus C.O.D. album, but I didn't like it and sold my copy. I think Dave Ingram, of Benediction, did a good job on Bolt Thrower- Mercenary. I love Trouble and I bought their Live album thinking it was Eric Wagner on it but turns out it's the only album Kory Clarke sang out. He was terrible. I sold the album without ever flipping it to side 2. I love Grim Reaper but I never got into Onslaught

For me, the one-album singer that really stands out is Neill Turbin of Anthrax, who sang on "Fistful of Metal". Their best IMO. In the middle? Well, there was the singer on QR III. Forgot his name.

Motley Crue, what can I say? I was a big time fan into the early 90's, but when the John Corabi album came out I did not like it, I never bought it or the next two. At this point, mid to late 90's I was heavily into all the European power metal bands, I did grab Saints Of Los Angeles, and enjoy that one quite well. Cheers my friend!!

The Motley Crue album with Jon Corabi is excellent. If the album would have had any other band name on the cover it would have done well. I haven’t heard Eat the Heat yet, I still have a couple holes in my Accept collection.

How about Jizzy Pearl fronting the L.A. Guns album SHRINKING VIOLET. Jizzy's voice is a unique gem. The album is certainly more bluesy than glam and I think it's a great change. On ther other hand, Chris Van Dahl did not elevate the album AMERICAN HARDCORE. The band was scuffling for another direction and it didn't work.

love Omen … JD Kimball totally fit their sound … looking forward to ‘escape to nowhere’ rerelease too… love Black Sabbath’s born again… Ian Gillan sounds gd with them… his evil shriek n laughter… love it.. i love the mix of the album too… love the album cover.. on the other hand..Glenn Hughes doesn’t fit Black Sabbath’s sound n style…. 7th star is the weakest frm their catalogue… i somehow feel Steve Grimmett doesn’t fit Onslaught… his style of singing kinda forced to fit Onslaught… he nds Nick Bowcott to write some gd… catchy n melodious songs…. Onslaught didn’t give justice to his voice… love Annihilator.. no matter who’s on it… Van Halen to me.. it’s either DLR or Sammy… \m/

Good topic. It got me thinking.
Quiet Riot reformed in the late 80's without Kevin DuBrow. They replaced him with one of my favorite singers, Paul Shortino. I love Rough Cutt and he does great on the album. Doesn't sound like Quiet Riot at all but I still like it.
Aaron Randall is the best singer that Annihilator ever had, in my opinion. Set the World on Fire is killer!
Jaime St. James sang on Warrant's Born Again album after Jani left and it's pretty decent.
Joe Lynn Turner on Deep Purple's Slaves and Masters does an excellent job. Not the best album, but it has it's moments.
Black Sabbath with Glenn Hughes was some stellar Blues Metal. Seventh Star is a top 10 Sabbath album for me and it's mostly due to Glenn's vocal performance.
Johnny Edwards from Buster Brown sang on Foreigner's Unusual Heat album. It wasn't a commercial success but Johnny did well and it's a decent attempt by Foreigner to do a Glam Metal album.
Peter Scallon was the singer on Samson's underrated Refugee album. Really good melodic blues voice out of Peter. I'm pretty sure that its the only album he ever sang on, which is a shame. Very under the radar but very good.
Also, I do like In Search of Sanity. I'm a big fan of Steve (R.I.P.) and the album is pretty good.
