Dolores says stream this song now or else - ffm.to/rulethequiet Wanna sing this? Check out the karaoke track here! ruclips.net/video/7Q6K0CnCuCw/видео.htmlsi=LM4nGDwxQl5lRa-C New villain and new original song next week! Who are you hoping it’ll be??
I like to think of the ending as Mirabel fixing her family and enhancing their powers. Luisa learned to rest, Isabela unlocked new plants to grow, Pepa learned to enjoy even bad weather. So I believe Dolores also got an upgrade. Perhaps something like she doesn't ALWAYS hear everything but she can focus to hear better if she wants to
@@patrikpavur848 I'm thinking, in the video anyway, that Delores's upgrade is silencing everyone & being able to talk & sing louder than she could before.
yep it makes sense but due to not being able to speak this time she may need a pen paper and praying to whatever god that exists that doloris doesn't sound blast her off the side of earth
In the movie, Dolores was talking about how she could hear Luisa's eye twitch all night. Assuming she was in her bedroom, also trying to sleep, it would mean she doesn't have soundproof walls. I think her gift should have provided that when giving her a room.
Or... Maybe she heard it because she wasn't in her room. Think about it, they were having a party. The "all night" could very well be referring to the party.
Not really. Every room we see doesn't help them deal with their gift, it amplifies it. Bruno's room is filled with sand, the cousin lives in a jungle, and Isabella's room is filled with flora. We can assume Dolores' room amplifies noise
@@abithefallenhuman921 although with all those other powers, amplifying it does help to deal with it. Bruno can easier craft and perfect his visions with access to ample room and lots of sand, Antonio's jungle gives him a place to hang out with his animal friends and learn from them, Isabella's room having diverse and excessive flora allows her to experiment and perfect her plant manipulation (not that any of this is realised in the movie due to Abuela), so it could really go either way. And seeing as how for us non-superpowered people, our bedrooms are often an escape from the overwhelming nature of the world around us, as well as a place where we can truly express ourselves and explore who we are, I am assuming this would be what the rooms were trying to reflect in Encanto, so I would hope that Dolores' room is somewhat soundproofed and a perfect environment for thinking, reflecting, meditation, and decision making as that would be a good environment for Dolores' power to be truly realised. As for some lines in the show to possibly contradict this, @yay29823 has addressed one of these and I don't really feel like combing the show for more at this point because I have probably typed too much already anyway. Also if you read this far thanks for reading my stupid long comment and have a nice day/afternoon/night friend :D
She would be. I would be. You would be. Anyone would be. Imagine being in Washington D.C. and being able to hear every car travelling on the freeway, regardless of where you are, 24/7. That is what Dolores feels.
@@dreadedgamer23 God... Imagine knowing everything anyone says, not only would it be uncomfortable, weird, and sometimes disgusting, but also agonizing to hear what they say about you, then all the constant noise.. the real question is.. How the heck is Dolores not deaf!?"
@@noobymooby-ty8gh Exactly like... her gift must give her some kind of resistance so it doesn't make her go death or causes her brain to just shut down. which is honestly worse cause I would rather perish
i love how they'res a subtle hint to Mirabels villain song in Mirabels villain song she calls Dolores out "to scared to even make a sound" and here, in Dolores villain song ,she is literally saying "I Cant make a sound" neat world-building in the Lydiaverse
I like to believe all of the songs are canon and Mirabel, Isabela and Dolores are a villainous trio finally getting their revenge on Alma after all these years of emotional abuse
@@175Enalover in mirabels its poison rose you might think no one knows but I see all the thorns that you hide, in isabellas tend to a plant with poison and expect a flower are you crazy and the flowers gone and its just the thorns...
Mirabel is literally the only one who didn’t panic during Dolores’ outrage… and tried to PEACEFULLY confront her. Dolores didn’t attack her, she was temporarily brought to ease… Mirabel probably could’ve calmed her down if she hadn’t been interrupted.
I can imagine that mirabel was probably the only one that wasn't silenced while Delores was at the house because she kept quiet so Delores could let out her frustrations but got silenced when she grabbed Delores hand when in the town.
@@Demi_SukimataI forgot to add in that I noticed with mirabel's speech bubbles they didn't have words but '!' and '?' from my second watch which heightened the idea because with the '?' she looks concerned for Delores as if she quickly noticed was overwhelmed with sound so she was most likely going to see if she could help Delores calm down without making sound.
I love the fact that at the end her hair is down for the first time ever. She's fully broken down, nothing and no one can keep her together and her hair also covers her ears, as if a sound proof barrier.
We also need Julieta and Pepa!!! Julieta- she found out her daughter's mistreatment as she starts to become harsh towards the town, even towards her own mother. But what if Julieta found out another way to use her powers... Not only to heal... But to also decay Pepa- everyone would feel bad for Dolores and the others for their gifts. But what about Pepa? She would control the weather and would always be forced to stay happy. What would happen if she had enough and finally snapped... Those are ideas-
Camillo needs one too, if Lydia ever wanted to try a male voice After all, it’s awful when everyone wants to be someone your not. It would make someone eventually snap that they need to be someone else to be of any use
OH MY GOD! This gives so much context on why Dolores doesn't say anything about hearing the cracks and the way she mostly just keeps quiet about all that she hears. It's because she want the magic gone because to her, her powers is a curse!
I've said this since the movie came out. Watch how silently hateful she is. She intentionally puts Mirabel, she embarrassed Isabella, she ousts Mirabel as the breaker of the curse to freak everyone out, and when the magic is returned... She is the only one on the door who isn't happy. She is Encanto two's villain.
When you can hear every whisper, every dirty little rumor, holding yourself together would be hard. It makes sense Dolores would just want everyone to be quiet so she could have some peace for herself for an unending world of insults and invaded privacy. The ironic thing is, by silencing those around her, there is no way to communicate to make things better. She receives the quiet she wants, but she loses precious connections as a result.
@@cottoncandyswirl8289 Of course, or course, but the importance here is the symbolism of it. She wants things quiet, so chances are Dolores would ignore any other attempts as well.
Its very tragic because its impossible for her to speak up. She’d be accused of eavesdropping and even if she could get people to understand her, what could they do?
Okay but like how is Dolores not insane in the movie? She can hear the entire village from anywhere and that much noise 24/7 whether its animals, talking, or anything really would drive anyone insane.
I LOVE how Dolores's character slowly turns more red as she gets more fed up and mad of the noise AND how when she snapped there is a single scene when Delores looked at Pepa as she realised she just hurt her mother ‼️‼️
Fun fact: The name "Dolores" literally translates to "sorrows" or "pain" in Spanish. Also, the entire town likely knows about her "gift", so having them set off fireworks and clapping loudly is insult to injury.
Although, in fact the name "dolores" is a very common name, if I did it for the detail or just because it is a name like any other there, I have no idea why
Okay but the fact that all she was really doing was silencing people, which after over a decade of constant sensory overload is so understandable, and almost everyone immediately turns to violence. Like that would push me even further off the deep end too! And as I’ve seen other people say, I loved the tree falls and no one is around line. And the animator absolutely nailed the expressions of shock when Dolores silenced them, especially Abuela’s. And the way Dolores smiles when she’s about to silence Mariano, it’s like she truly thinks this is doing him a favour, because everything will be so much better when it’s finally silent. And I also just really like the composition too! It’s good music
I don't think she'd silence Mariano. It seemed like she was reaching out to him. Like there was still a bit of the Delores we knew in there... Then Luisa accidentally interrupted.
The only person who didn't turn to violence was Mirabel, and she almost got through to Dolores, but then the townsfolk messed up all of Mirabel's progress.
Ok but I just noticed that Dolores was smiling so softly while looking at Mirabel and looked genuinely happy seeing her youngest Primita finally getting what she deserves until the door started to glow and realized their gifts(curses) are back and she started to have a panic attack😭😭✋🏻
The fact she was shown how they could be happy without the miracle too, the townfolks didn't turn on or abandon them, they rebuilt the house, everyone was so happy - until the magic returned.
Let’s think about the moment she opened her door. It was probably the first dramatic door ceremony imagine as a 5 year old you go from hearing light murmurs in the crowd around you and the next thing you know those murmurs sound like screams. The minute she opened her door she probably covered her ears and started to cry. She was the only person not happy when everyone’s power where restored. Her gift is a curse I bet she wishes she got what Maribel got.
Pepa and Bruno weren’t happy either because pepa’s gift must drive her crazy cuz every time she’s upset she gets all wet which makes her feel worse, and Bruno’s gift caused a lot of trouble to a point where Abuela basically kicked him out (she talked down on him which caused him to leave)
Literally just: walks up to door touches handle literally hears everything in a 1 mile radius like bro the entire pepa strain of the family is suffering so badly omg
As someone that can hardly listen to more then two people talk at a time, I can't even begin to imagine how Dolores feels having to hear EVERYONE. I'm more surprised she didn't go insane and have a villain arc
I like the little detail that Camilo was also as devastated as Dolores when the magic returned, meaning his imposter syndrome probably still hasn't fully gone away
@@PoetTornado2022 "Imposter syndrome is the condition of feeling anxious and not experiencing success internally, despite being high-performing in external, objective ways. This condition often results in people feeling like "a fraud" or "a phony" and doubting their abilities."
Honestly, everyone knows about Dolores's supersonic and super sensitive hearing, yet does not try to help her by being a bit quieter. The sensory overload would slowly chip away at her sanity. It actually pissed me off that despite people knowing about her sensitive hearing, the kids decided to scream anyway. I would have silenced them too LMFAO
2:25 as happened in Isabella's villain song, Mirabel tries to make Dolores see that she is not like that, sad that in Mirabel's villain song no one approaches her to try to stop her and help her
Dolores had the most cursed "gift" in the family, I mean they all had their downsides, but being able to hear *everything* all the time? It's honestly more of a curse than anything else Wonderful song as always 👏
I think Dolores and Pepa are tied in the most cursed 'gift' Dolores constantly heard everything and Pepa was never allowed to feel anything. they were both the most trapped by their power
@@n.jboltz599she's the second oldest grandchild out of six, she's twenty two, got her gift at five, and the youngest three are fifteen and five. and she can hear. literally. EVERYTHING. Let that sink in. Dolores definitely had it the worst
She also heard and learned stuff that no child should ever hear at that age... Good lord in no lime all of the Madrigals will have villain songs at this rate. Also just an idea, when Pepa gets a villain song (cause face it she gonna get one someday) I hope Felix sings with her and maybe Camilo too, those two I think have the most love and support toward Pepa out of the who Family ... It would be amazing 🤩
@@cottoncandyswirl8289 Yes like I said Dolores and Pepa are equal in how horrible their gift is. Dolores hears everything and it is terrible and overwhelming for her but her room is completely soundproof so she has one safe place. Pepa has no reprieve from her gift ever Pepa also got her gift when she was 5 and she is now 50. 45 years of her emotions affecting the weather and people scolding her and complaining / overwhelming her because she was never allowed to feel and was never taught emotional regulation. She had people manipulating her emotions, to make it sunny or make it rain when they wanted that weather and complaining and stressing her out over weather they don't want. constantly pointing out when she has a cloud. Pepa is a neurotic mess because she has never been allowed to just be. Pepa's gift is the most dangerous gift because of how little control she has over her emotions - she literally electrocuted Camilo with lightning when she was startled Dolores is allowed to feel, Pepa isn't. So yes i think Pepa and dolores are equal in how horrible their gifts are
2:40 the sad thing about this line is that,if you really think about it, the only way that Dolores could have true peace in her life is if everyone around her could never speak again
Damn that ending shot of Dolores was f*cking amazing, it shows how far down her sanity went through the years and she had enough and she will "Rule The Quiet" from here on out...
After some rewatches, i've realized that the reason that Dolores got emotional at 2:02 after seeing Mirabel is because, she KNOWS Bruno's vision about the miracle, she knows that Mirabel, her dear little cousin, (who's the only one shown to care for Dolores' pain) is the key that'll either make her dreams true or torn them to pieces
This takes place after the ending of "Encanto," but I get what you're saying. Mirabel's the most emotionally intelligent of the family, and probably the most innocent (aside form maybe her brother Antonio), so of course she'd have some hesitancy with her.
I mean, imagine how she must have felt when they all lost their powers, and she finally got some peace. She even was able to finally talk to Mariano, like the song says she probably finally felt like she was "free" since she was 5. And everyone was happy! They were fine without their powers, and they rebuilt the house, the town folk didn't shun them because the Madrigals weren't "useful" anymore. For Dolores, everything was perfect. She wasn't in pain, she got the guy she loved, and her family was happy. The end. But then Mirabel with her "gift" brought the magic back, and with that the same torture Dolores endured for years. And what's worse than enduring that for years? Getting a break for a single day to see what your life could have been like. That must have made the torture of hearing everything again 10x worse.
@@EoJMemberyeah I think this is Her looking back at the past since mirabels face does look more kid like, and the lyrics are “I left them to break” which is something she did in the past before everything happened in the movie
I just realized that if Dolores was intentionally trying to destroy the miracle, all she had to do was confirm Mirabel was right about the cracks in the house when she first saw them in front of everybody. The unease and insecurity would be a powerful blow.
This song has just inspired a headcannon for me. I am choosing to believe that Miabel and/or Camillo learned ASL in order to communicate with Doloros without adding to the cacophony of noise.
Damn, now I agree with almost all of it. This takes place in Columbia, they had no access to technology we do, and Alma and the others of the settlers may not have known sign language of any language. Other than that, there is likely someone who did know Columbian sign language, or whatever it's called, so it makes sense.
@@icanogar While that is true, most of the town wouldn't have felt the need to develop sign language(hearing loss is caused by either deterioration of the eardrum or injury to the hearing centers of the brain, both of which count as injuries medically, and thus would be healed by Julietta's Gift, while pretty much all of the town view Dolores' Gift as a Gift and not a Curse in disguise. So Dolores, Camilo and Mirabel would have had to have hand-made their own sign language. I'm not saying they couldn't have, I'm just saying that, in the time between when the last two became old enough to know this, and the events of the movie, they probably only got an extremely rough version down, and couldn't use it for much.
My headphones when the people are whispering around like 0:15 and such one side of my headphones they are speaking through that and not both sides...like I was hearing was dolores was hearing...and I REALLY like that touch!
1:33 "if a tree were to fall, and no one was there, would it make a sound at all?" "The answer is yes, worry less 'bout the tree And more about those in your halls!" This one hits me on a spiritual level
The Mirabel details tho😭Mirabel was the first one to notice Dolores when she looked behind her to see her and the others and when Dolores tried to reach the candle Mirabel took her hand(meaning that she brought back the magic)in Dolores eyes Mira was smiling softly as she thought she was doing a good thing(which means she is aware that Mirabel didn't really mean to hurt her as there are some people who would think that Dolores would be mad at Mira and think she did it on purpose especially cuz she is losing her mind)and the fact that Mirabel isn't afraid of Dolores and tried to understand her even after taking her voice and also the fact that even without her voice Lola knew what Mira wanted to tell her(let's not forget that Dolores's lights are Mirabel and Mariano it's actually a beautiful detail) and even after she didn't listen to Mirabel she didn't throw her with her power or hurt her(which I think she would want to do cuz Mira is kind of the new "candle" there's a chance that if she got hurt the magic might disappear again)she just shoved her hands away and she only hurted Luisa cuz she was the first to hold her back using her strength
Finally realized that the snapping sounds in the song were super sharp and almost ear piercing to show Dolores' pain and suffering to the listener. Kind of satisfying to hear, though.
Seriously , it's impressive how she could handle all this in the actual movie , like think that you literally everybody's deepest secrets and you're not even allowed to share the burden with anyone . Girl's got some willpower !
honestly as someone who struggles a lot with noise-triggered sensory overload.....completely justified queen i support you 100%, everyone is way too damn loud. someone get this girl some nice noise cancelling headphones. they may not block out EVERYTHING, but maybe they'll help!
I don't know that it does take place after the movie, since we hear them talking about her having a crush on Mariano and him being engaged to Isabela. I don't remember if it's explicitly laid out at the end of the movie but I'm pretty sure the implication at least is that they ended their engagement and Dolores and Mariano got together.
@@bishielurfer tf you are talking about...the starting scene of this video is literally Mirabel touching the house's doorknob and awakening the magic again. It's literally an alternate take on how the movie would have ended.
I like how they catch Dolores at the end, since usually in Lydia’s animatics, it’s pretty obvious that The Bad Guy Wins. Course, Dolores still silenced a lot of people with no indication it can be reversed.
Dolores may have been contained but she still ultimately wins. She doesn't really seem to care about what's happened to her, only that she finally got the peace and quiet she desperately wanted.
When Mirabel is attempting to console Dolores, their atmosphere seems like it’s Dolores’s last out, her last chance at going back to what she knew. But she’s learned that the real blessing was when the Encanto fell. When the voices stopped and all she could hear was herself, for the first time since she was a child, five of six. After such a brief moment of respite, she’d be crazy to go back to the constant agony of hearing every word spoken amongst the townspeople. And so she shuts Mirabel out, fully blocking out the noise of the outside world and finally getting what she’d always wanted- silence. This was a very powerful song and animatic! Great work!
As a person that sometimes gets overstimulated by crowds and loud noises, it pleases me to see Dolores mentioning some of the same things that I have to bear (mainly wanting everyone else to be quiet, which is is ironic since I’m a quiet person 😅) Also, love the touch with using the same beat as Dolores’ verse from “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” 👏
"This ability is not a blessing. It is a curse! No one is capable of truly understanding my pain and I cannot stress my hopelessness towards your intentions. If I do not fulfill this mission, needless suffering will continue and true paradise will never be real. You might say it will remove 'true happiness', but it will worth it to get rid of all that is horrible! It's completely necessary to erase this cycle for good."
@@Kirbyfan10 It's said by one of my own characters. I'm writing my own series. I left other quotes by them in the sections of the Isabella and Asha villain songs.
I honestly loved the idea of Dolores becoming paranoid of keeping hearing things that she is aware of, which it kinda feels like a curse more than a gift.
Imagine you had shapeshifting, but instead of everyone wanting to see the real you, they wanted you to take the form of someone else? That is Camilo's pain.
this is genuinly epic! the idea of dolores having the power to silence others and channel some kind of shockwaves is honestly amazing and the fact mirabel was the ONLY one that tried sympathies with dolores is SO in character for her but luisa and isabela knew dolores could'nt be reasoned with anymore so they had no choice but to attack and that smile at end of 3:26 is kinda terrifying because even tho isabela beat her she knew she still won cause with her new powers her world was and will remain SILENCED...
2:16 I love how she looks so calm until the kids start talking. She’s going so insane that she _will_ get ticked off by the smallest noise. She’s so ranged that she won’t even let kids speak. Edit: 0:50 “no one seems to care about what I want or what I need” as her mom is literally trying to help her. Thats how insane she’s been going due to the noise. She’s so blinded by the noise that she doesn’t notice the people trying to help
I love how you portraied her, how right before she snapped it sounded like she had a panic attack and how in both Isa en Dolores song, none of them hurt Mirabel, these are some detailes that I really like, these makes a difference, and it's actually so good!! I love all of your songs, your voice is very powerful!
"Heard every crack that appeared over all these years, the ones brought by plaster and ones bought through pain and tears-I left them to break, if the magic's gone then it can't hurt me" DANG those are good lyrics
I appreciate being able to listen to this song! No joke, this developed the character of Dolores much more than the movie, and the movie is something I really like. Her gift seemed more like curse than a gift. Imagine how relieved she was when the candle went out and she can finally hear normally.
I think that's becouse the movie focused on Mirabells side of the family (her and her sisters), which is also why I still hope that we get something like a TV show later, to explore the other side of the family. Becouse no matter how you look at it, Pepas side of the family has the worst and hardest to controle gifts.
Isabella used her thorns and vines to trap Delores in this song like she did with the others in her song. I also like the reference to mirabel in all the encanto songs. Whenever anyone else is panicking, she is the one to try and attempt to calm them down. Yet in her villain song, nobody tries to stop her or support her like she does with everyone else.
Another thing i just noticed is how all encanto songs seem to reflect what mirabel sings in her lyrics. isabela had “flowers bloom when you walk in a room, but i see all the thorns that you hide”. During her song, she lets her thorns show and reveals what she’s been suppressing inside. The lyrics that mirabel sings to delores is “Or are you afraid to make sound at all?”. This is reflected in this song where Delores talks about how she’s not being heard by anyone in her family apart from mirabel and how she’s afraid of making sound. If this trend continues, then pepa’s song might show how much she hates her gift since mirabel says to her that she’s failed to “pull them back ashore.” Another part of her lyrics is “and now the boat’s sinking and everyone’s going down”. I don’t know how to interpret this but i have a feeling it might involve pepa’s power drowning everyone, possibly using her rain to flood the town.
I think that the reason Mirabels song is referenced in everyone else's villain origin song is because even in her darkest moment, Mirabel still understands that they're suffering too, and while she's given up on making them accept her help, she still wants the whole family to know what they're doing to each other, not just her. She's done helping because everyone's made it clear they don't want her help, but there's no reason she can't give them a chance to help themselves while she gets her revenge. Plus, the candle is the source of their gifts, which were the root of the problem. By blowing it out, everyone is free of their burdens, not just her.
god, even out of canon mirabel still is the best character in existence (why is a 15 y/o so worried about keeping her family together even in her darkness, like that’s your real gift darling. mua)
I honestly miss when this movie was popular. The music and story are really good. This animation just shows why the movie resonates. The movie just allows people’s imaginations to go in any direction.
Lyrics [No... no... no!] All these years I've sat and obeyed As I hear every word you say [Did you hear Dolores has a crush on Mariano?] Get used to the noise, it'll soon go away But it's louder everyday [I thought he was engaged to Isabella?] A problem shared is a problem halved As you sit there unaware [Oh my gosh, you're right, how embarrassing.] That your little sin has crept through the wall [Do you think she can hear us now?] [God, I hope not!] And sunk under my skin You say just ignore, close the door as if I don't hear Mind echoes with your noise, as your voice tells me all your fears So full up with you that I'm too afraid to Make my own sound No one seems to care what I want and what I need A second to be silent, have some quiet, feel the noise recede And finally take a breath as I'm only hearing me The only noise is... Me! Give me silence! I'll make them quiet! Can't think before you speak Then you'll learn quiet Muzzle the violent Force them to quiet I'll finally be free I'll rule the quiet Time you learned to be seen and not heard Let's not hear another word don't want to know what you do, where you go, So give me a silent show If a tree were to fall and no one was there Would it make a sound at all? The answer's "yes", worry less about the tree And more about those in your halls Grew up in this house, as the walls whispered desperately For family, I obeyed, masquerade, it took all of me To know what I knew and to never say a word Heard every crack that appeared over all these years The ones brought by plaster and the ones brought through pain and tears I left them to break, if the magic's gone then it can't hurt me Give me silence! I'll make them quiet! Can't think before you speak Then you'll learn quiet Muzzle the violent Force them to quiet I'll finally be free I'll rule the quiet And when I'm through Silence falls and I'm made anew Use your words, dear Oh wait, you can't I can finally hear now that you've stopped talking At last I hear me! Give me silence! I'll make them quiet! Can't think before you speak Then you'll learn quiet Muzzle the violent Force them to quiet I'll finally be free I'll rule the quiet Give me silence! I'll make them quiet! Can't think before you speak Then you'll learn quiet Muzzle the violent Force them to quiet I'll finally be free I'll rule the quiet )(took it from google)
To be honest she really had every right to be a villain just imagine listening to everyone speaking at the same time and loud noises and just the little noises and she can here everything at night to every day I would become a villain to if I had her powers
I love how the Encanto kids are so screwed up that they're all getting villain origin stories without changing a blessed thing about their backstories.
Love the fact that the melody of this song is a remake/construction of Dolores and Camilo's part in "We Don't Talk about Bruno". Great song Lidya. This could fit completely in the Encanto playlist
The story is just like the movie but from her perspective! I'm so exited to hear the song! I mean we all know Dolores was already a villain, now we can finally know what happened next!
what I utterly adore about this animatic is the beginning of Dolores' outburst. The way she goes silent and then begins to panic, The way the surroundings visibly shifting as everyone looked at Dolores with concern. The way her mother looked at her, and she looked back unable to give a response. Then everyone grows even more concerned, wanting to know what's wrong, But Dolores can't focus and just wants everyone to be quiet, but can't communicate it. Then she breaks, and learns she can forcibly shut them up, (magic) She obviously is thrilled, the noise was driving her insane. what is so awful here, is I'm pretty sure this was so easily preventable if they didn't just erupt into panic due to dolores' outburst. I mean they did lose their voices, but nonetheless due to someone who suddenly switched in demeanor. Mirabel was the only one trying to calm Dolores' rather then attempting to force her to stop. Plus, Dolores clearly had no intent to harm anyone, simply to keep them quiet. she only hurt Luisa because she attacked her first, Dolores probably would have calmed down after awhile of silence. L
For a person like me who suffers from hyperacusis (a hearing problem that makes me much more sensitive than the majority of people to noises), as well as agoraphobia, this song represents my daily life. A daily life full of noise, regular anxiety attacks and music at full volume. Singing was one of the only escapes for me. When I sing I say to myself “there, there is my voice”
If I remember correctly, Dolores' room in the house is the only one that "turns off" her powers, I.E. while she's in her room she can't hear the sounds coming from outside of the room. Everyone else's rooms give them ways to use or expand on their powers (Bruno has his sands of destiny, Antonio's is filled with animals for him to talk to, etc) but it was stated somewhere that Dolores' room does the opposite, being the only place where she doesn't have to hear the sounds of everything that happens for miles around. Edit: It would appear that I remembered wrong, as it's been pointed out to me that Dolores can hear Luisa's eye twitching from her room. Poor girl gets 0 breaks from the noise.
Dolores nor the movie stated that she heard Luisa's eye twitching from her room. Parties can go on all night down in Colombia. It's just as likely she heard it throughout the party.
I can actually relate to this, I’m noise sensitive and sometimes I just want to make everyone to stop yelling and screaming all the time. The amount of times someone has yelled directly in my ear making me flinch and then said “Sorry, I forgot.” Like it’s not that serious. And I always say it’s fine because I don’t want to be the one always making a fuss, even tho it always hurts.
And despite who caused it, it's socially demanded that the sensitive one claim the fault or be considered unreasonable. Constantly being required to claim the fault isn't good for self esteem. I've had some success lately, in some contexts, viewing that apology as deliberate manipulation to shape how they view me.
I love the detail that she knew the house was cracking and coming apart, but did nothing about it so the magic could be destroyed. So she could be free.
As someone who struggles with EXTREME noise sensitivity, I feel for Dolores in this song.. if I could shut everyone up and finally not hear noise for once in my life, I'd be so overwhelmed by the silence it would drive me insane.. I mean, you gotta think, Dolores was able to hear everything since such a stupid young age.. the pain it must feel to hear everything at once, it would drive anyone insane, then add the layer that she couldn't escape it, there was no way for her to block the sound, she heard the casa breaking, the rumors, the pain, it's painful, and if I found out I could control and make people be silent, I'd go crazy too, I'd jump on ANY opportunity to silence the sounds. to get rid of that pain. Another thing I noticed, the thumbnail for all the Encanto villain songs show the character and what they view as their curse Marabell is the candle Isabella, her vines Delores sound waves I think that is a very nice touch. because it shows how, in its own way, the Encantos family's gifts are just horribly painful to them, like Luisas surface pressure could be its own villain song. they are all in pain from their gifts. It's not a blessing its a genetic curse
I really like that each girl so far has gotten their own villain songs, because each of these situations could have happened, and would have eventually, I suspect, had the story of the Madrigals played out differently. All of the girls in the family had ample reason to hate their family and want it destroyed, and had the means to do so. Each song is just another way it could have ended, and I really like that.
This song litteraly gave me chills. Also love the headcanon that dolores could hear the house breaking for ages and just never told anyone so that she could get rid of the magic and not have to hear anymore.
the surprise in her face when she silenced everyone in the beginning is an amazing touch, she looks like she didn't want to do it but was relieved when the noise finally stopped
I like this dark headcanon where their powers grow and develop over time, depending on how they are nurtured. When Dolores (her name means Pains!) becomes a villain, her power allows her to take away people's voices. You're doing such an amazing job with this!
Dolores acting like this makes so much sense, I can't imagine having to be forced to hear everything miles away with no way to turn it off, I don't blame Dolores for turing on everyone.
I’m someone who really suffers with missophonia, Dolores was the most relatable character in the whole movie. Thank you Lydia for making this song❤️ this song makes me and hopefully others feel heard
for those that are confused about 2:07 when she started crying after mirabel grabbed her hand when she tried to reach out for the candle the reason behind it and why she's crying is because she was probably jealous mirabel wasn't given her gift and had to deal with the pain of hearing every little thing there for making her 'normal' if most would call it that as she saw it as a nothing but a burden (which it is) but she felt trapped by the fact that her cousin wasn't not only given a gift yet was still happy while she felt pain with her gift and wasn't happy about it at all with it.
~LYRICS~ All these years I've sat and obeyed As I hear every word you say _(Did you hear Dolores has a crush on Mariano?)_ Get used to the noise it'll soon go away But it's louder everyday _(I thought he was engaged to Isabela?)_ A problem shared is a problem halved As you sit there Unaware _(Oh my god, you're right. How embarrassing!)_ That your little sin has crept through the walls _(Do you think she can hear us now?)_ _(God, I hope not!)_ And sunk under my skin. You say just ignore, close the door, as if I don't hear Mind echoes with your noise as your voice tells me all your fears So full up with you that I'm too afraid to- Make my own sound No one seems to care what I want and what I need A second to be silent, have some quiet, feel the noise recede And finally take a breath as I'm only hearing me The only noise is.. ME! Give me silence, I'll make them quiet Can't think before you speak Then you'll learn quiet Muzzle the violent, force them to quiet I'll finally be free I'll rule the quiet Time you learn to be seen and not heard Let's not hear another word Don't want to know what you do, where you go So give me a silent show If a tree were to fall and no one was there, would it make a sound at all? The answers yes, worry less about the tree And more about those In your halls Grew up in this house, as the walls whispered desperately For family I obeyed, masquerade, it took all of me To know what I knew and to never ever say a word Heard every crack that appeared over all these years The ones brought by plaster and ones brought through pain and tears I left them to break, if the magic's gone then it can't hurt me Give me silence, I'll make them quiet Can't think before you speak Then you'll learn quiet Muzzle the violent, force them to quiet I'll finally be free I'll rule the quiet And when I'm through Silence falls and I'm made anew Use your words dear Oh wait you can't I can finally hear now that you've stopped talking At last I hear me Give me silence, I'll make them quiet Can't think before you speak Then you'll learn quiet Muzzle the violent, force them to quiet I'll finally be free I'll rule the quiet GIVE ME SILENCE. I'll make them quiet Can't think before you speak Then you'll learn quiet Muzzle the violent Force them to quiet I'll finally be free I'll rule the quiet
Now I want Pepa's song. Just imagine - you have to restrain your emotions all your life, because when you experience them it can cause a hurricane, rain or snowstorm. And people in town complain about it all the time because you ruined their day with your fog or thunderstorm. And of course there must come a day when you simply break down, unable to contain everything inside. But in Pepa's case, her transformation into a villain can be stopped because she has a loving husband and children whom she adores. Or it could make the situation worse - she accidentally injures one of them, and there are two options: either Pepa realizes what she has done, or it will further destroy her completely (Sorry fo bad English, it's not my native language)
1:33 It gives me dear evan hansen vibes "When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?" And here: "If a tree were to fall and no one was there. Would it make a sound at all?" The conclusion, however, is different In deh "It's like I never made a sound Will I ever make a sound?" Here Dolores sings "The answers worry less about the tree" Like Evan's problem is that nobody notices how he is struggling to befriend someone, but Dolores knows that even that her family knows what's bothering her, they don't care to help
this is so good!! 💕Dolores must've been so relieved when she lost her powers for that short period of time and i can imagine that suddenly getting the gift back must've been overwhelming. and we know that Isabela didn't know the full extent of her powers, so it's possible that's the case for everyone else with powers in the house, so Dolores having full control over sound would make sense! poor Dolores... she just wanted some peace and quiet 😭
Okay, that’s sounds absolutely amazing and sees that Dolores is actually a villain in a theory that everyone had been dying to see something doing this song that now can be a inspiration to all!
This is a wonderful interpretation of Dolores' character as a whole, plus the animation is fire! I really hope we can get all the Madrigal kids at some point because I really want to see Camillo and Luisa in particular as villains!
This song shows how Dolores's pain has built up all this time, all these years, in silence. She has had no control at all, left to suffer alone while the others use her. Notice almost never does Dolores's gift been metioned as a ,,gift'', its always a neutral, no one appriciates her gift and her pain. No one thanks or gives Dolores a break! She is like a doll - she cannot speak or do anything on her own, chained by the family (Abuela's) decisions. So its very symbolic that because she has suffered in SILENCE all this time - she can make everyone suffer in SILENCE! With this evuolution of her gift - she can finally have control and the deserved break from her pain. Silence is such a symbol, which makes this song even more symbolic! And this new ability makes sense, its great storytelling! Bravo Lydia!
A context so realistic. I can’t even imagine being surrounded by noises without rest for all those years. Mirabel, Isabel and now Dolores… love all your villain songs of Encanto. The fact that her powers is directly related to sound is amazing. Just force them to be silent. And even after her “defeat” she can’t even be guilty as what she lived was more similar to a constant torment that no amount of understanding (from Mirabel) or “subjugation” will convince her to not Rule The Silence
at 0:36 when lydia is talking in the backround voices, one of them asks, "do you think she can hear us right now?" then lydia says "yar" lol. I think im the only one who realized that while i was listing to this on spotify.
I relate to Dolores a lot cause we both have sensitive hearing and most people who know about it don’t even bother being quiet so I understand her pain
Makes sense despite her mostly making flowers isabela is by far the most overpowered we see her outright grow a tree in her ‘what else can I do’ song it makes sense that if luisa can’t take down someone it would fall on isabela
Though in this case, it was because her Big Sister Button got pushed when Luisa got Knocked out. Cousin or no, this is AFTER the three sisters started to get back to actually acting like siblings again.
No but you could just FEEL Dolores pain when she immediately hears the voices and she repeats the last 'no'. Your such a beautiful and excellent singer! You could feel her pain throughout the whole song! And the animation was beautiful! That aside, it keeps me wondering if in a world she's kept locked up, but everyone is still stuck with their voice gone, just an eery silence kept in the town. Dolores proud she doesn't hear anything as she's locked away.
And you can actually see that she didn't want to hurt any of her family and didn't attempt to hurt them except from taking their voices but when Luisa started the fight(trying to hold her back) she threw her away😭
@@JustaBonnie it was shown that the two cousins actually have a good relationship and Dolores sometimes helped Luisa to catch the donkeys using her hearing and even when Luisa tells her that it's okay she can handle it Dolores still goes with her until she catch all of them then they would go home together having fun and smiling while walking and don't forget that Luisa is the third Madrigal so she probably stayed with Dolores and Isabela most of the time until she got her gift and Mira and Camilo grew up a bit and she doesn't like hurting anything or anyone so imagine how does it feel to have to hold back your older cousin and then they hurt you it must be very deep to both cousins

Poor Dolores. I love how Mirabel (obviously) is the only one who actually tries to reach out to her with understanding.
Made even harder now that she can't speak.
@@davidvaldezjr5546 And the fact that she's also the reason that the magic is back, undoing her plan to finally get rid of it.
yep it makes sense but due to not being able to speak this time she may need a pen paper and praying to whatever god that exists that doloris doesn't sound blast her off the side of earth
It also means she didn't sleep all night
This feels like Dolores isn't actually evil, but driven completely insane from hearing _everything_
She would be. I would be. You would be. Anyone would be. Imagine being in Washington D.C. and being able to hear every car travelling on the freeway, regardless of where you are, 24/7. That is what Dolores feels.

@@noobymooby-ty8gh Exactly like... her gift must give her some kind of resistance so it doesn't make her go death or causes her brain to just shut down. which is honestly worse cause I would rather perish

in Mirabels villain song she calls Dolores out "to scared to even make a sound"

Mirabel is literally the only one who didn’t panic during Dolores’ outrage… and tried to PEACEFULLY confront her. Dolores didn’t attack her, she was temporarily brought to ease… Mirabel probably could’ve calmed her down if she hadn’t been interrupted.
50/50 chance.
I can imagine that mirabel was probably the only one that wasn't silenced while Delores was at the house because she kept quiet so Delores could let out her frustrations but got silenced when she grabbed Delores hand when in the town.
@@pz6103Yeah, I can see this 100%-
@@Demi_SukimataI forgot to add in that I noticed with mirabel's speech bubbles they didn't have words but '!' and '?' from my second watch which heightened the idea because with the '?' she looks concerned for Delores as if she quickly noticed was overwhelmed with sound so she was most likely going to see if she could help Delores calm down without making sound.
Can you make for Luisa?
I love the fact that at the end her hair is down for the first time ever. She's fully broken down, nothing and no one can keep her together and her hair also covers her ears, as if a sound proof barrier.
Seeing each girl get their own villain song...all we need now is Luisa and we've collected all Encanto Infinity Stones- I mean songs
We also need Julieta and Pepa!!!
Julieta- she found out her daughter's mistreatment as she starts to become harsh towards the town, even towards her own mother. But what if Julieta found out another way to use her powers... Not only to heal... But to also decay
Pepa- everyone would feel bad for Dolores and the others for their gifts. But what about Pepa? She would control the weather and would always be forced to stay happy. What would happen if she had enough and finally snapped...

Facts! 😂
The long and sophisticated way of "'stfu"
There are plenty of non-verbal ways to communicate. Writing, sign language, even artistic expression, people don't need to talk to communicate
@@cottoncandyswirl8289 And let's not forget the importance of... BODY LANGUAGE.
I wonder if there’s a way to undo the silenced
Okay but like how is Dolores not insane in the movie? She can hear the entire village from anywhere and that much noise 24/7 whether its animals, talking, or anything really would drive anyone insane.
My theory is that it only works if she focuses on something specific. Otherwise she'd be insane by age 6
I mean, she's had her power for over a decade. She probably just has no idea what life is like when you don't hear every noise in town.
@@jasonsmith6219no décade...
There is a fan theory that she is the villain of the movie, purposefully making the situation worse in hopes of getting rid of her powers.
Disney's too scared to do stuff like this.
I LOVE how Dolores's character slowly turns more red as she gets more fed up and mad of the noise AND how when she snapped there is a single scene when Delores looked at Pepa as she realised she just hurt her mother ‼️‼️
Taking voices away doesn't seem to ACTUALLY hurt them. Just makes them scared of Delores.
The progressively red screen makes the moment with Mirabel super cute even if Luisa pretty much ruined it yikes

Fun fact: The name "Dolores" literally translates to "sorrows" or "pain" in Spanish.
Also, the entire town likely knows about her "gift", so having them set off fireworks and clapping loudly is insult to injury.
I did not know that, thanks for letting us know
Yeah dolores is ‘pains’ on a literal translation
Spanish native here
Although, in fact the name "dolores" is a very common name, if I did it for the detail or just because it is a name like any other there, I have no idea why
Even though this IS true, Dolores is a very common name with no 'deep' meaning.
As a peruvian, i knew that... Thank you anyways! :D
True
It sounds likely, she probably had a meltdown too
@@stuffie5175 yeah I imagine her covering her ears crying falling to the ground repeating “Make it stop” over and over again.
Literally just:
walks up to door
touches handle

Obviously Dolores!@@StormyTheFairyHD

Ngl I love the idea that Dolores, in her desperation for quiet, learns to mute the voices of others. It seems simple but I just adore it.
Seriously , it's impressive how she could handle all this in the actual movie , like think that you literally everybody's deepest secrets and you're not even allowed to share the burden with anyone . Girl's got some willpower !

I love the little detail at 0:45 where you can see Mirabel and Abuela standing next to each other since this takes place after the end of the movie.
Same!!! I also like how Abuela doesn't actually look at dolores because it all seems fine.
I really liked the detail of all the whispers being loud and audible in the beginning, but at 1:02 they all stop after she snaps
i saw a comment about the audio on headphones, the whispers at 0:15 whisper into different ears, and it's a really cool detail
@@robloxcool88 True.
Plus, that smirk. Dolores may have lost the battle by being caught, but no one can ever speak again. She won the war.
sound waves aren't gonna do much against plants
Dolores wasn't caught in the end that was Mirabel
Great work!
As a person that sometimes gets overstimulated by crowds and loud noises, it pleases me to see Dolores mentioning some of the same things that I have to bear (mainly wanting everyone else to be quiet, which is is ironic since I’m a quiet person 😅)
Also, love the touch with using the same beat as Dolores’ verse from “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” 👏
Dang, Dolores going over the edge because of her gift. That’s a unique take on a villain song.

I honestly loved the idea of Dolores becoming paranoid of keeping hearing things that she is aware of, which it kinda feels like a curse more than a gift.

Also, Camilo's face at 0:06 also looks like he didn't want the powers to come back at ALL as well
Identity crisis, shaped shifting "gift", yeah, seems about right.
Imagine you had shapeshifting, but instead of everyone wanting to see the real you, they wanted you to take the form of someone else? That is Camilo's pain.
Cause he doesn't want to be the same shapesifter boy again
Yea
this is genuinly epic! the idea of dolores having the power to silence others and channel some kind of shockwaves is honestly amazing and the fact mirabel was the ONLY one that tried sympathies with dolores is SO in character for her but luisa and isabela knew dolores could'nt be reasoned with anymore so they had no choice but to attack and that smile at end of 3:26 is kinda terrifying because even tho isabela beat her she knew she still won cause with her new powers her world was and will remain SILENCED...
Sorry. No hate, but you didn't use the correct punctuation, which made me read it quickly. It made you look like a chatterbox.
If you pause at exactly 3:27 the image of Dolores here is terrifying.

DANG those are good lyrics
I appreciate being able to listen to this song! No joke, this developed the character of Dolores much more than the movie, and the movie is something I really like. Her gift seemed more like curse than a gift. Imagine how relieved she was when the candle went out and she can finally hear normally.
I think that's becouse the movie focused on Mirabells side of the family (her and her sisters), which is also why I still hope that we get something like a TV show later, to explore the other side of the family. Becouse no matter how you look at it, Pepas side of the family has the worst and hardest to controle gifts.

I'd be freaking ecstatic.
Her gift evolved to fully manipulate all sound….that’s TERRIFYING! Well done!
By blowing it out, everyone is free of their burdens, not just her.
god, even out of canon mirabel still is the best character in existence (why is a 15 y/o so worried about keeping her family together even in her darkness, like that’s your real gift darling. mua)
@@warawasaoho1043 The pull them back ashore and boat sinking part were actually for Dolores as well!

Would it make a sound at all?
The answer's "yes", worry less about the tree

what I utterly adore about this animatic is the beginning of Dolores' outburst.
0:06 subtle detail i found: if you look at Camilo, he looks surprised and nervous as if he knew what is going to happen which would make sense
I recommend you try Loop (an ear bud brand) it is really helpful for me and I’ve heard a lot of other people use it.
"THE ONLY NOISE IS ME" sounded really cool
It’s likely got a way to do it selectively
She can hear Luisa's eye twitching from 2 walls, an atrium, and 2 TARDIS style rooms away.
She talks about being able to hear Luisa's eye twitching at night from her own room, several rooms away. She gets absolutely no sound-proofing.
She also mentions "hearing the mice in the walls"
Dolores nor the movie stated that she heard Luisa's eye twitching from her room. Parties can go on all night down in Colombia. It's just as likely she heard it throughout the party.
I think my favorite part is when Dolores smashed thay playe at 1:48. The picture of relishing how free she is from her power is just so good
I can actually relate to this, I’m noise sensitive and sometimes I just want to make everyone to stop yelling and screaming all the time.
Dolores: "Domain Expansion: Rule of the Quiet"
Underrated comment
Another thing I noticed, the thumbnail for all the Encanto villain songs show the character and what they view as their curse
Marabell is the candle
Isabella, her vines
Delores sound waves
I think that is a very nice touch. because it shows how, in its own way, the Encantos family's gifts are just horribly painful to them, like Luisas surface pressure could be its own villain song. they are all in pain from their gifts.
The fact that you can make a villain song for each of the girls tell you how toxic that family dynamic was
I love how in this song and the song of Isabela, Mirabel is always trying to help them, giving them love when she, deep down doesn't 😭
Dolore: ruler of the quite, master of silence, the breath of whispers. She deserves all those titles and more. This song is fire
I love how this ties in perfectly with the theory that Dolores is actually the true villain of Encanto.

Or it could make the situation worse - she accidentally injures one of them, and there are two options: either Pepa realizes what she has done, or it will further destroy her completely
(Sorry fo bad English, it's not my native language)
this seems amazing
Honestly yeah, she can get a villain concept too
1:33 It gives me dear evan hansen vibes
"When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?"
And here: "If a tree were to fall and no one was there. Would it make a sound at all?"
The conclusion, however, is different
In deh "It's like I never made a sound
Will I ever make a sound?"
Here Dolores sings "The answers worry less about the tree"
Like Evan's problem is that nobody notices how he is struggling to befriend someone, but Dolores knows that even that her family knows what's bothering her, they don't care to help
this is so good!!
If there's an ENCANTO 2, let's hope this doesn't happen. Cause I'm kinda scared of this version of Delores.😱

Though in this case, it was because her Big Sister Button got pushed when Luisa got Knocked out. Cousin or no, this is AFTER the three sisters started to get back to actually acting like siblings again.
only this time, she sadly got her and ruined her quiet
No but you could just FEEL Dolores pain when she immediately hears the voices and she repeats the last 'no'. Your such a beautiful and excellent singer! You could feel her pain throughout the whole song! And the animation was beautiful!
That aside, it keeps me wondering if in a world she's kept locked up, but everyone is still stuck with their voice gone, just an eery silence kept in the town. Dolores proud she doesn't hear anything as she's locked away.
Can we talk about 1:25 like this frame is so sick and cold, its epic

3:15 Dolores hurt Luisa… very deep.
And you can actually see that she didn't want to hurt any of her family and didn't attempt to hurt them except from taking their voices but when Luisa started the fight(trying to hold her back) she threw her away😭
How is it deep?
@@itdoesnotmatter12luisa tought dolores was gonna hurt mariano- but maybe she didnt wanted to and dolores took that personally and hurt her
