  • I managed to find another wonderful recording by Leo that I hadn't posted. It's an abridged transcription of the French professor & composer Theodore Lack's piano composition. An "Arabesque" is the name for those beautiful interweaving spiral-like border ornaments they used to put on the pages of old books & posters. And so the music mimics the graceful weaving & turning pattern of these "arabesques." Here Leo plays an arrangement by D. Desiderio.

    Thanks for posting. This brings back so many memories of listening to Leo and sharing the pure joy of him being one with his accordion.

    To my ear this is more demonstration of technique than enjoyment of melody.

      Leo always was the quintessential showman in his earlier years, but he did did become more expressive later in life.
