  • We test the all-new 2024 KTM EXC and EXC-F Enduro Bikes, and our mission is to work out if 2 Strokes or 4 Strokes are best for the every day off-road dirt bike rider!
In this video we head all the way to Lesotho in South Africa for the global launch of the brand new KTM Enduro machines. Our test rider Sean Smith hops aboard the two stroke bikes to give his opinion on the 150 EXC, 250 EXC and the 300 EXC before trying out the four strokes to see what he thinks about the 250 EXC-F, 350 EXC-F, 450 EX-F and 500 EX-F . He'll ride the famous Roof of Africa Hard Enduro trial on all the machine he can get his hands on.
To conclude our 2 Stroke vs 4 Stroke shootout Sean will decide once and for all which bike is best for an Enduro newbie!
As always a huge shout out must go to our awesome sponsors for supporting what we do and helping us send Sean on this awesome experience.

    250 2 stroke for me
Modern 4 strokes are good, but 2strokes are so much fun, more playful, which is what a hobby rider like myself is after, not tenths off lap times

I don't think they realised how close they were to the edge at 13.50 minutes in....
    A very close call.

Anybody else miss 200s? Kick starters, pre-mix? Guess I’m just old school. All the awesome upgrades and missing out on the good stuff…
Thinking an oil pump is somehow better than pre-mixing is beyond me.

Not one mention of the new electric power valves or how 95% of these new changes were actually brought over from the MX side of KTM’s lineup in 2022.5 factory editions and the 2023 SX/SXF lineup.
All in all these newer TBI bikes are flat performers. Very stoked about the 300 SX/XC.

Great informative video 👌✊ The 250 2 stroke all day long. Would be nice to try and see how it feels compared to the 2021 250 2 stroke. As I do enduro and hare and hounds.
Am not a fan of the plastic sub frame as bet that’s not cheep to replace. And would be the first thing to brake if looped out so should make it cheeper to replace

Going for the 300 XC-W (EXC) to add to my stable. To date, my 2019 TPI XC-W has been the best bike ever, hands down over the 20, 21, and 22. So I'm excited to see how this 2024 TBI XC-W pans out. Looks like the suspension will be quite nice. BRAAAP!!!

Dealers often have ride days. But if you have no experience they arent going to let you have a rip. Check your local dealer about a ride day cause ktm will be hauling demo bikes around.
I love my 250xc. It is more work to ride than my 450.

KTM enduro models have changed so much from just the past decade let alone the past 5 years. We thought TPI was a big thing now it's moved on to TBI with two strokes that have quickshifter, times have changed in the dirt bike world

  • @Superdisco199

Good review of the 2 strokes, felt like he glossed over the 4 strokes a bit though. Interesting comments on the 300. I think there can be alot of manufacturing toleraces at play with the latest KTM's, but it does make sense the 250 is a good bike now that they are back at carby power levels.

So glad I got my 23 exit W. If I want to change it to TBI, it's a pretty cheap switch, and I still get my kick starter. Oak hard to imagine an Enduro bike without a kickstart. Just to save a little weight.

  • @2sipsMax

  • @joshualatour959

Love the KTM 2T's and most of the new changes. BUT not being able to even add an aftermarket kickstart is a dealbreaker for many people who ride in cold climates like myself. I can never buy a bike without it. You never need it until you do! Also if you are going to use a timber sled conversion in winter, bump starting is also very difficult or impossible depending on where you are.

    The two Stroke, No Contest!!

  • @craignicholson1788
    @craignicholson1788 Год назад +1

That's 2000 meters above sea level in Lesotho mate, that's 6 500 feet. You were at serious altitude, so the little 150 would have felt it. 250 is the most playful. 300 is what you want when it gets very technical. It's got a flatter, fatter power curve and will chug up a really technical face where the 250 is a little peaky. That whole debate around 2 vs 4 stroke is moot and based on preference. But there is a reason why all the top extreme enduro 's are won on 2 strokes, and its not marketing. right tool for the right application. The 300 has a heavy flywheel. It dumbs down the motor a bit, but it's what gives you traction in the very difficult terrain and it just doesn't stall. Thanks for the vid.

Nice video but not real technical. for instance at 350 4 has to weigh quite a bit more than that 250 2. you feel that on the trail and when you have to pick it up. too bad KTM doesn't make a 300 4s like Sherco. had an older one and it was my favorite bike.

Everyone should boycott KTM till they use the old cylinders again that don't keep going bang or running backwards!! And tbi isn't that good 2nd generation of it still loads of bugs use the old cylinders for the tpi you will have a good one if not lose heavy customers everyone is getting rid of them

It's weird to me, that anybody would find mixing gas to be a pain in the arse. It's extremely easy. I even have multiple bikes for my wife and daughter. Their bikes are pump gas. Still no biggie to bring 2 cans. I've heard bad things already about the TBI here in Idaho. Which is too bad, bc that new KTM looks so damn good.
