love this. you guys actually gave good insight and its obvious you know what youre talking about. Most of the time I feel people just say "oh suspension is good, and power is good" and kind of leave it at that.
Thank you, I appreciate that! As I edit these videos I wonder if anyone will make sense of my jabbering so this is helpful 🤣 Thank you for watching
There’s no other comparison video like this, pure gold guys 🤟
Thank you!! It was fun to create haha
Great video and nice comparison, I'm new at the sport and don't have much experience, I've been riding a 2021 yamaha yz250fx and is a very powerful and easy bike to ride, I recently bought a 2020 yz125x because I wanted to try a 2 stroke bike, and I'm so glad that I bought it, is so much fun to ride, I ride both constantly and you guys are absolutely right, the power delivery and the traction is so much better on 4strokes, when I know I'm gonna be riding on sand or loose terrain I take the 4stroke for sure, but when I'm riding on single trails with a lot of curves I love the 2t, both are a lots of fun.
XC? I'd think the XC-W would be better in that technical stuffs.
100%
Próbably so it has a tighter 1st & 2nd gear which would help a great deal. The torque on the 300 2t's is unbeatable in my opinion, especially for the riding their doing.
Definitely
Great comparison. I wonder how much difference the tyres made, if any. Both bikes came out of it well, prop’s to KTM, they’ve nailed it with both these bikes!
The 350 tires were half bald and had bib mousses. The 300 were 3/4 tread and tubes. So definitely a bit of a difference 👍🏼
Soft Mousse vs Tubes a big difference in traction.
I'm torn between these two as my first (in many years) enduro.
Like too see u on the new 2024 350 that would be good
300 ALL THE WAY !!
Both great bikes until it’s time to rebuild. Then 2 stroke rules.
Best dirt bike video I`ve seen this year.....and I don`t even like KTM bikes!! 😃
Great work, riding, and editing! 🤩
Keep up with it. 😊
Thank you! That means a lot because I spent a lot of time on this one, some of the rude comments get under my skin haha. I appreciate it!
Don't like ktm?...that's weird
@@otallono, for me, weird is liking the same bike that everyone has.. 😄
@@Nuno.Alcaide I agree but back in my younger years it was always a freaking Honda or Kawasaki, so having a lot of KTM's around is a pleasant change. I'm 53 and been riding off-road since the mid seventies.
Racing gncc the 350 for sure ! Hard enduro the 300 all day errr day ! Both fantastic bikes owned em both and now stick with a 2023 300 xcw . Good vid boys . 😎
For sure! Awesome, thank you.
Awesome comparison. It’s cool to see honest opinions that aren’t based on ad dollars from manufacturers pushing favorable reviews for their products
Thank you, it is fun to try and share our thoughts!
2023 300XC all day !
I’m a 300 man also, I have the 22 exc (xc-w). I find you just can’t beat that nimbleness and power punch, it never fails to make me smile!
They are fantastic bikes, I can't wait to see the 2024 updated enduro range!
Nice edit J Man... surprised how well the 350 did in the rocks!
Thanks man! It was pretty shocking how much easier it was to ride on some of the loose gnar.
Thsi can't be right 😆! You can't contradict all the 2-stroke religion! Seriously, I feel the same way, and after many many bikes, settled on the 350 as my bike of choice. I need to go try the new chassis 350.
Try a 2T larger rear Sprocket on the four stroke 350xcf to get up the hill in your video at 11:40.
Awesome riding, skills are on par, and comparison added drama and quality entertainment to the mix, I think at end of the day, both bikes are incredible performers, but mechanically there are less internal parts that can beak on the 300 2 stroke, cheers
Makes me want to go buy a 2 stroke! Just like the good ole days!
Very interesting and surprising comparison!? I have had four WR 450’s over the last seven years. Still have one. I just added a brand new 2023 Beta 300RR to the stable. Unfortunately up here in the frozen wasteland of north eastern Ontario Canada there is no way to do a comparison at the moment. One thing I’m sure I’m going to appreciate at the young age of 63, is the weight reduction! Excellent! Quality! Video!
Thank you very much!! Enjoy the new Beta
Don’t let your moms see you up on the side of them mesas. She gonna be mad. 😀👍🇺🇸
Calm down pa! Momma knows best
For technical xc-w is sow much better, more buttom end! Great video!
Yeah, the XC is not the right 300 for this kind of riding. That's what they have the 300 XC-W!
I just picked up a 2024 300xc and I’ve been LOVING IT. it’s playful and exciting. And I dislike engine braking in technical riding. Amazing video! Loved the editing and overall vibe.
I wonder how the gyro effects the handling
I have really old bikes but I have both 2 and 4 stroke dirt bikes I love both but I choose the 2 stroke for the most difficult terrain. Yall are riding expert level and I am not but I am intermediate and I can ride almost anywhere.
4 strokes make up for skill and endurance. Nothing groundbreaking here.
2stroke everyday all day forever
This is really nice comparison. But I have to think that 90% of the market for both these bikes would have zero access to this type of terrain.
Thanks! Possibly, the Western USA has plenty of open terrain like this.
Utah, Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico , California, Arizona all look like this in some parts
I own both 300 xc & 350 xcf both 23’s the 300 it’s just so much more fun to ride & less tiring. Only place I would give the 350 an advantage would be road riding.
I just picked up a new Beta 300RR. I’ve been riding WR 450’s for the last seven years since I got back into dirt bikes. I’m now 63 and really looking forward to having a light and powerful two stroke. My last two stroke was a 1978 RM 125…in 1978! It’s been awhile to say the least. Unfortunately, there’s a foot and a half of snow outside up here in Northeastern Ontario Canada. Riding season is at least 2 1/2 months away
@@TheKitchenTechnician Put studded tires on and go rip!!!
I like to ride on some technical trails. I used to ride a 350. At low speed, I was able to lift the front wheel over some obstacles without even flicking the clutch. I wonder if 300 TPI will use the clutch more frequently? For example, at low speed, its torque is not as good as 350, will it make my fingers more tired? thanks!
@@jayleecanada5604 You will use more clutch. But thats a good thing. Your fingers will adapt.
Just got a 2023 KTM 350 XC. I'm recovering from a back injury so I have been very very cautious and only ridden on the family farm in Southern Utah. It just seems to creep around so well and has such a nice smooth power roll on and then instant power as soon as you need it. I am excited to get some more serious riding on it under my belt. HUGE upgrade over my old 2016 350 SXF! (seriously better in every way it feels.
If i rode a 70% flowy NE or SE woods single track with 30 percent MX, I would go with the 4 stroke. BUT, if you go back and forth 50/50, the 300 is better. Especially if mostly slimy woods trails.
Now factor in rebuild cost…
Excellent video. Thank you for this
Thank you
2 stroke or no go. If you’re not mixin’ gas and slappin’ ass, what’s the point?
I'm an old guy and love this video. Great job! But I will always be a 250 two stroke guy. Thanks.
Thank you! Hard to beat the 250 2 stroke, super versatile and fun!
If the 300 power valve is set up properly it can tractor like the 4 stroke i have ridden the 350 very good bike but in very technical sections it flames out i broke my kneecap inhalf and broke collar bone in 2 places onthe 4 stroke flaming out recluse clutch and you have a real comparison i now just enjoy the 2 stroke 300 harder to ride but more fun nearly 60 years old grew up on 2 strokes and will die a 2 smoker fan but the 4 strokes have come a long way full respect
The 300 XC we reviewed in this video has an electronic power valve, you can’t adjust them anymore with the TBI motor. We were surprised by how well the 4 stroke competed but at the end of the day we as well enjoy 2 strokes more! Thank you for watching
I think a second comparison is in order for a Tpi bike on the older chassis
I have a few TPI bike reviews on my channel, don't currently own one to test!
He also has a lot of weight on that bike.. I'm 140 pounds, I'll get up that hill on a 125. Not that it matters. Always loved ktm, went with a YZ once to save money and regretted it.
Just a dry loose day with bald tires. We climb that hill very often without issue. That hill is most fun on a 125!
In 8:29 the guy in the 300 take the pop of the clutch before the obstacle… and during the of camper terrain the rear wheel follows the front wheel and that’s all… in the 350 guy no pop of the clutch before the of camper terrain and steady gas during the of camper terrain and crash for sure. There is no 2 stroke and 4 stroke war people it is all about technique… and only technique. Tony boo race trials in a 4 stroke machine just think about it… it is all about technique
4 stroke all the way and definitely that 350 is sick
That's weird at high speeds, the 300 felt more safe, usually 2 strokes are more twitchy at high speeds. That's why many guys put steering stabilizers on them.
Looking back on it now, it was definitely because the 300 was the updated frame. It’s much more planted than the old frame on the 350.
Shoulda brought a 300 XCW honestly.
@@chriswoollet Ya it would be fun, but these are both XC model bikes.
Decent video and provides food for thought. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!

It's all the riders skill and preference I love both I like the 4t in the faster pace stuff but in the hills/slower more aggressive 2t all day
Absolutely!
I feel like the 300xc’s from 23-24 are much closer to the SX than the xcw. So stiff and aggressive
which is why they were having trouble climbing some of these hills. The XC-W is the way!
Were the tires the same on both bikes?
No but pretty similar compound. I wish we could create a perfect scenario like that but not feasible. We were mostly focusing on the motor differences
I have a 22 350XCF-W. I dropped down a tooth on the front sprocket, and now the flame out issue is resolved. Most of my riding is technical stuff and it does exceptionally well. My friends ride 300s and I'd say my setup matches them in capability. The 300 definitely has more punch, but my 350 has such a smooth predictable power delivery. After riding both I prefer mine.
I have the same bike what trail upgrades have you done
The 300 is a better bike for expert riders. If you know how to use that motor, it is definitely as usable as the 350 but a lot more explosive when you need it to be.
So in the open stuff (where a 350 would excel easily) its a tie? Also you stated that the 300 is more planted than the 350 at speed.....what in the internet world?!?! Lol.
Must not have watched the whole video. We both agreed for desert racing we would choose the 350, which would be the open stuff
Was final gearing the same on both bikes? The 300 could be better if geared lower for the slow technical.
Stock gearing. Yes but then it would lack for the fast sections.
Longevity of each? Then cost to rebuild each? Yup I'm guessing the 2 stroke is more affordable in the long run. Because the 4 stroke is highly stressed vs the 2-stroke.
2 strokes are always more affordable. But the 350 motors last a really long time in most cases, like 3x the 300 per top end.
@@XploreEnduro my friend has a kid who has been racing ktm 250 4 strokes and he has only been getting a year out of the motor, before a rebuild. He is completely unsatisfied with it.
@@joeyholthusen6495 ya, 250s are the biggest financial pit in the dirtbike game. Not many guys could ride a 350 hard enough to go through a motor in a year.
@@XploreEnduro myself I'm built thick, and I weigh a solid 240 pounds in my boxers, I grew up with 2 strokes and absolutely enjoy riding them, don't get me wrong. The only 4 stroke I own is a yamaha raptor 770cc with a plus 3mm intake valves plus 2mm exhaust valves, stage 3 cam, 11:1 compression piston, 105.5mm cylinder and piston, plus 5mm stroker crankshaft. In 4th gear I can pull it up at 75mph then shift into 5th and it's just stupid. It's geared to the moon. Btw... smallest dirtbike 4 stroke probably a 500cc 2-stroke, even thought about a Maico 700 2-stroke, or a 701 husqvarna 4 stroke. Been riding motorcycle since I was 6 years old, I started on my dad's Honda scrambler 175cc and had to start and stop at the picnic table because I couldn't touch the ground.
@@joeyholthusen6495 Did the top on on my 350 XC-F at 192 hours and it was still really fresh inside. It could have went a while longer, and I only change the oil every 12 hours. I know guys who have gone over 350 hours before opening it up.
Would be nice to have seen the updated 350 2023 model that has more power and is re designed.
I agree. Maybe KTM will borrow us one 😂
I like this one because I have a 2022 350. I would have liked it if you picked it as the winner since my money is already spent, but I think the 350 might be the better choice for me.
You guys riding 300 turf
Think people need to watch some hard enduro and see what the 2 stroke is capable of
For sure!
really good video! I'd like to buy a 300, but I wonder if 300 TPI will use the clutch more frequently than the 350? For example, at low speed, I can do a wheelie to jump some holes whitout using the clutch on the 350, can I do the same thing on the 300 2 stroke? I mean, its torque is not as good as 350 at low speed, will it make my fingers more tired? on the other words, can I lift the front wheel easily without flicking the clutch at a low speed? thanks!
The 300 will do 5x better at that in my opinion. The low end snap is significantly stronger than the 350 and the 300s idle so low that the clutching isn’t as important.
@@XploreEnduro oh, sounds so good! thank you so much.
@@jayleecanada5604 I had a 2009 300 and it was a tractor. I'd imagine these new motors developed that even more.
KTM 300xc all day! Mixing gas & kicking a$z! The KTM 350 xc-f does have a wicked long powerband that revs to the moon. I'll always go with the cheaper & easier to maintain 300xc smoker! 2t for life! At least off-road.
Àll bikes rip but can't beat the excitement of a 2banga. I've got TE300 and thing is crazy. If you get bit tired you have map switch. 4strokes are for people who are pro mx or sx, everyone else need to stop thinking their the best and get back to riding for the fun of it. They also sound boring like bunch of constant loud wetfarts. Avagud1
Two strokes is better.
Had 250cc 2 stroke, moved on to KTM 250excf then 350excf. 2 stroke great fun but too wild. 250 four lot easier ride, climbing loose trails. Just missed that punch when you need it. 350excf took a few trails getting use to extra power. Still miss the 2 stroke.
I want a 350 2 stroke
Did the 350 have any mods such as suspension revalving, etc? Good info, thanks!
No, it is entirely stock besides some protection parts and bib mousses
Wooo
I have a both ,switch off depending on conditions
That would be the dream team!
at 9:15 it did not appear you did your 100% but were biased over the 2t. There was nothing technical about that section, just momentum and tire pressure.
We don’t run tire pressure, they are bib mousses similar to 7-9 PSI. It is a highly technical section that is easier performed on a 2 stroke but obviously everything always comes back to rider skill. I would love for you to show us how it’s done :)
We used to compare the 200 2 strokes to 350 4 strokes and 300 2 strokes to 450 4 strokes but that was before efi slowed down the 2 strokes .
Gotcha. The 23 XC TBI will smoke the carbed motors, it’s a real gem compared to the TPI models.
@@XploreEnduro ya ive been ridding one it will definitely smoke the stock tpi bikes and the 17 plus carb bikes . Still a little weaker than a 12 to 16 pre counter balanced motor if it tuned right but thats mostly because the counter balancer is like a big flywheel weight and it makes em rev slowly off the bottom.
300 all Day!
Is the 350 on stock gearing?
Yes
Loved this review 🔥
Go do this with the exact same tires. Something has to be scientific.
Ehhh, riding dirtbikes is for fun and so is this video 👍🏼 They are all great bikes!
good comparison, Comparable in CC … not some moron pitting a450 and 250 against each other
How do you think the KTM 450XCF would do?
I prefer the 350 over the 450 but both are great bikes! The 450 motor just has to much power for most riders.
I have a '19 450xcf . I just sold my '23 300xc a few days ago. I wanted to get down to one bike and for some reason, I just enjoy my 450 a little better. I ride woods and mostly single track and it does great. The 300 is good, as I have had 2 strokes primary for last 8 years but I just enjoy the 450 more. It's not overpowering on the trails for me and I'm no pro rider.
@@BLSdarrin I think 450's get a bad rap for being too powerful and wearing riders out. Glad we got to hear from a 450 fan.
@@BLSdarrin I’m a strong believer that much of the “450 is too much crowd” doesn’t understand how you can ride a gear or two up and keep it from ripping your arms off, all the while having gobs of bottom end torque anywhere when needed. It’s easy to understand that the majority of us dirt bike guys probably aren’t the brightest, therefore trying to not ride up in the revs and changing style isn’t typically something people can do lol
@@derekwoods8199 Then what's the point lol you shift up just to make it more like the 350 down a gear? Sounds unnecessary and more expensive. You have a strange way of measuring intelligence. Not everyone who rides is a hick and it's nowhere near the most dangerous hobby.. I think it's not about whether we understand something, it's how we understand it.
great video, lovely terrain that you have there !
Best two bikes now by far, however you need to do 2024's now...
The 300 2 strokes record is on the wall all over the world, professional riders know there the best.
I love my 350, identical bike as yours... would love to know what you had your suspension set at.
how much heavier is the 350?? I was told only 4 to 5 pounds extra
Yes. The actual weight is super similar but the 350 naturally feels heavier. I think it’s due to 4 stroke motor engine braking and enertia

what about a 250 geared down 4 stroke with a Rekluse. Thats what i got.
Nice ride…. What about adding a recluse to the 350? Or having the xcf-w? Or both. Thoughts?
Trying to decide… first bike, 6’2 210
I’m not a fan of auto Recluse clutches, they make riders learn bad habits but some people like them. The XCF 350 is an incredible bike, it doesn’t need anything to be a great beginner bike. I don’t like the restricted power on the W models but if dual sporting is your plan it may be good.
@@XploreEnduro They are desert riding. No need for a rekluse at all. The rekluse is for tough climbs and such.
Rekluse is for freeing your mind and keeping your fingers on the grip when your in those tough down hill oh shits moments, when you can’t afford to stall or when in a hard enduro situation like navigating through boulders and very steep hill climbs or if your hare scramble and like to drag the rear brake. The rekluse is probably the biggest mod you can do to a bike that improves your skill instantly. Im talking going on a rough trip with your friends looking like a C class tard to Garham Jarvis making it look easy.
You want a recommendation on a bike tell me what you want to ride I’ll tell you what to get and why.

why are you not comparing the 300 XC-W to the 350??? the XC is not the real enduro model!!!!
Because it’s an XCF 350 and the 300 is an XC. Same exact bike models. If I had an excf 350, that would be a good comparison to the 300 xcw.
The 250XC is the sweet spot, not near as tiring as the 300.
Not fair against built race bike.
I’m sure the 300xcw would ride and handle better
In the technical yes but in the desert terrain not so much. The XCF is the same platform as the XC, that’s why we compared them. XCW is great until you get high speed kick outs, they can all be setup great tho

As much as I agree with you they are still significantly better built than the competition haha. I agree the pride in their quality is dropping tho.
What world do you live in to call a 2022 model old generation? Kinda spoiled aren't ya!
I’m far from spoiled. It’s how products work. If there is a new generation body that makes the previous models the “old generation” whether it’s cars or bikes. I agree it’s not the best way to state it, a 2022 is still a brand new bike to me as well! Thanks.
Wish you were comparing the new 2023 models of both bikes! Great vid though. Thx
I wish it was that easy to come upon new bikes! Haha The new 350 is pretty awesome, I’ve rode it. More aggressive race feeling, I doubt it would do as good in the rocks as the 22.

Meh I like bigger bore power, hence I restored one of my old dinosaur 380 EXC's, I love that old motor but I sure miss a newer chassis. Maybe I will do an engine swap just for giggles.
There is plenty of big bore options in the new chassis 👍🏼
@@XploreEnduro Yes I do know that, my office is right next to BRC's and I own a race shop to boot. More just musing about the old school 380's. Looks like the 4-stroke is the guys personal bike. Not really a fair comparison if he has it set up for himself, especially the suspension
Both bikes are bone stock except protection parts. The 2 stroke won the shootout. Yes, we both own these bikes as our personals. It’s a fun comparison, not a paid ad with free bikes from KTM 🤣
