    Really impressed with the clean tones on this thing. I knew this was a crunch monster but I had no idea the cleans were so nice.

    Hey jack LOVE the badger 18 & 35. I’ve owned the 18 before and it was a great amp even scalable down to bedroom levels, but I’m curious if the 35 can be played at low volume for late night practicing and still “feel” good to play? Or would I need to run it through an ox or something? Thanks!

    Good to see your back on youtube Jack. Helped me get some good tones through my Orange Rockerverb watching your pedal demos of old.

    This video is absolutely awesome mate! I have a badger 35, looks like I need to get a load box as I rarely get to crank the power/drive above 5! Awesome work mate 😁👍🏻

    • @jackgriffithsmusic
      @jackgriffithsmusic  6 лет назад

      Alt Kin Thanks for watching! It’s definitely a loud amp so the load box route is a no-brainer for home use.

      Why do you need a load box when it has built in power scaling?

    Hi Jack, if you had to choose between the new Suhr Badger MK2 model or sticking with the old version of this amplifier, which one would you choose and why? Best regards.

    Man, I watched all your videos. What a player! With your amazing skills, great tone (you sound ridiculously good everywhere), good looks, and great stage presence; you stick out like a sore thumb in all your concert videos and the peach guitars demos. I wish you all the best! I will be surprised if you are not an important name in music and guitar world at some point in the future. And I would certainly buy a ticket to a Jack Griffiths and a Band show ;-).

    Hey Jack, great review! Just wanted to know your thoughts on the badger 18...would it be more ideal to the 35 for home use? Im also deciding between this and the 68 custom deluxe reverb. Any thoughts? Much appreciated.

    Very tasty licks, thank you for showing us the various pedals and what they sound like, from clean to crunch and beyond. Plus various styles very rewarding and informative. Do you still have this amp as one I'm looking at a seconf hand Shur 35 head combo in one. Not really a big fan as the weight and bulk but I hope the tone and flexibilty is the same as a head and cab. Dare I say I'm a Cabinetmaker by trade and electronics tech so detaching would not be a problem.

  • @Auen73

    What speaker do you prefer to use with the Badger when using it with a cabinet? Veteran 30, Greenback, ect......That impulse GB 4x12 sounds really good btw.

    Good choice, I agree. Especially now that you're playing single coils. Thank you for that comparison video. Extremely helpful. Above and beyond the call of duty. Does it clean up well with the guitar volume knob?

      Tom Rollison Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video. Yes it does, exceptionally well in fact. Please check out the comparison video I did for better examples of volume control clean-up.

    Always a joy to watch you play, Jack! Do you still have/love the Badger 35? I am looking into a couple of amps right now, including a Friedman Smallbox and a 3rd Power Dirty Sink. This video makes me possibly want this, too. Any thoughts? Thank you!

      See if you can get the smallbox LIMITED from wildwood guitars if you’re in the U.S. they’re always sold out. I grabbed an off white one after doing a bunch of trades. My most expensive purchase ever. I have the badger 18 and it’s not my favorite. I switched to thinner strings mixed with thicker strings and for some reason the thicker strings don’t do well with the badger now. But I’m literally the only one that has anything negative to say about it. Idk why it’s reacting that way. I think I like el34’s better as well. And I’ve had the regular smallbox. Doesn’t have as much gain but you can put any distortion or overdrive in the 2nd channel to push the gain and of course it has the plexi channel. Idk what you’re looking for. Sorry I’m not Jack. I’m just trying to help.

      Badger is going to give you more Vox type chime and because of that slightly different edge of breakup type tones. The Friedmans will be more in the Marshall area so it really depends on what you are going for. Both are great.

    Sorry if this had been asked b4. Whats the pickups on ur suhr? I assume the HB is SSV, what are the singles?

    • @jackgriffithsmusic

      khoirus sobri No problem, the singles are ML standards and the HB is an SSV. Thanks for watching!

    Hey Jack... how would you compare the badger 35 to say a maz38? I’m looking for something different to add to my current amps... a Mesa Lonestar Classic and a Mesa Stiletto Deuce mk2 but I want to compliment them also?
    So was thinking either an el84 or a 6v6 amp... I think my preferred style is a Brit style but I’m also toying with two rock or tone king.
    Thanks in advance
    Chris

    • @jackgriffithsmusic
      @jackgriffithsmusic  4 года назад +1

      Hey Chris, I’d definitely go for something with EL84s to compliment what you’ve got - as for the Badger vs Maz, they’re both fantastic, very hard to pick one over the other. Check out this Peach comparison I did, if you haven’t seen it already - ruclips.net/video/oggEkD0yrFg/видео.html

    • @chrismundayguitar
      @chrismundayguitar 4 года назад +1

      Jack Griffiths awesome thanks ... I actually hadn’t seen that instalment... hmm you are right really hard to pick one over the other but it’s definitely a sound I need with amps that I don’t have right now.
      Cheers

    Great video. What load box do you use with the 35?

    • @jackgriffithsmusic
      @jackgriffithsmusic  6 лет назад +1

      John Sousa Thanks for your comment, I use a Suhr Reactive Load.

    • @johnsousa4708
      @johnsousa4708 6 лет назад

      Funny, I never even thought of use a load box on my Badger because it has Power scaling but it looks like I'm missing out. So great tones when you start playing with power. Suhr's Reactive load - so you use it with IRs - which in particular? V30 or Greenback type?

    • @jackgriffithsmusic
      @jackgriffithsmusic  6 лет назад +2

      John Sousa The Power Scaling does work very well for low volume playing to get a bit of that valve compression happening, but there’s no substitute for the headroom and ‘volume’ element of a loud amp at higher power. For this particular video I was using an impulse of a 4x12 with GBs, with a little something extra mixed in... 🙂 I wanted to try to get it sounding as close to the tone through a real cab in the room as possible.

    omg ! congrats man ! amazing sound , I have a badger 35, I love this amp, but I have been thinking of replacing badger with a Bogner shiva el34, have you ever tried the bogner shiva?

    • @jackgriffithsmusic
      @jackgriffithsmusic  6 лет назад

      Hi, thanks for watching! Yes, the Shiva is a totally different amp. It’s much thicker and more compressed and does not respond to pedals and the guitar volume in the same way as the Badger. It’s still a fine amp but it’s very much its own sound.

    • @leandregomes
      @leandregomes 6 лет назад

      thank you! I gave up on trading my Badger for Shiva after watching his video; ) I have a question, do you use the Suhr Reactive load right? if I use Suhr RL it is necessary suhr cab 1x12 to be connected in RL Thru, I can record only my head suhr badger 35 and the suhr RL, and using my favorite iR, without my cab being connected? thanks again !

    • @jackgriffithsmusic
      @jackgriffithsmusic  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, you can use the Reactive Load with no speaker cab connected. Keep enjoying your Badger!
