I really don't understand your choice of tone settings, but ... just shows how versatile these true tube amps really are :) That it's not just "one Marshall plexi tone"

@@larslevinberget9558 I think the problem is that you're looking at the settings 😉 What matters to me is what feels and sounds right to me when I'm playing an amp. And the settings that work for you, might not work for me and vice versa.
But the EQ on the Badger really didn't work for me, too much low in the mid knob and not enough presence in the treble.

@@StevenAnthonyGuitar nope...I listened to your tone, which has too much mids ;P Most importantly, that's the tone that suits YOUR playing, which is great btw

@@larslevinberget9558 thanks. I live in the mids and I don't like too much low end. I suppose I have a dark tone in my fingers, so the Marshall works for me thanks to the upper midrange bite, which I couldn't get out of the Badger.

Sound great ! But for me the Marshall win it sounds more open I think the wattage has an important role in this 50 watts of crunch brought more harmonics and dynamic

@@arthurarnould1370 I fully agree. This video was actually made almost a year ago, I just hadn't put it live yet. I didn't have the Badger for long ;)

    Marshall all the way

Marshall sounds GREAT! But all you needed to do was tweak the dials on the Suhr to get much more out of it.

@@rodhorncastle believe me, I tried! The mid know has too much lows and not enough bite, neither does the treble. For me this amp was too dark. But I got a follow-up where I tried to remedy it with external tools.

@@StevenAnthonyGuitar Cool - still the best sounding test i've heard in a long time. Well done. And like always: the Dr. Z gives me an ear ache -- even though they sound really good.

First of all: all amps sound great. If you are looking for "that" Marshall tone, I think the 1987x has the right sizzle and big bottle sound. The Suhr and the Dr Z are in the ballpark, but not quite there. Due to my understanding the Suhr can close the gap, if you are willing to compromise a little bit.

@@MikelBluni I do agree that, at least as far as I have been able to try, nothing sounds like a Marshall plexi than a Marshall plexi. To me the Z-Wreck Jr was closer to the Marshall than the Suhr.

Marshall wins easily with that nasal yet open sound.
