  • Nothing like starting a new project in reverse order! I wanted to create this staircase for a while and I just couldn't get it out of my head, so I had to create it. I am super impressed with how it has turned out. Hope you enjoy.

    Incredibly inspirational! I bought a couple of those fans a while ago planning to make a spiral staircase, but didn't know where to begin, so thank you so much for this tutorial x

      You are most welcome, this was such a fun project and reasonably easy to make to get an awesome result. Good luck with your project, I would love to see how it turns out, if you want to share some pics once it's finished.

    Love the stairs Gina, Ara from Bentley house made her stairs from the same type of fan but she used the first part of the fan. To help with takeout from wood being drilled try putting painters tape on the side being drilled or cut thus us an old trick used when working with plywood as that does tear out a lot when drilled or cut on/with a bench or circular cutting tool even with a hand saw.
    I have a few hand fans like them which I have had for 40 years but they are made of sandal wood I discovered when I pulled them out just after watching Ara making hers so won’t be using them as sandal wood is very expensive.
    Thank you for sharing 🤗🤗🤗

      Hi Angela, thank you for the tips, there were plenty of things that I would do differently if I were to create a similar set of stairs again and yes the wood on the fan was the biggest challenge for sure.

      Yes! Thank you! I got a lot of inspiration from Ara when I first started, when I found her staircase I was blown away and motivated to see if I had the skills to make one too. It turned out great 😊

    I absolutely love this, well done! If I'd made this spiral staircase I'd be chuffed to bits 😀👌 This has been really useful as I'm hoping to make my own version, I've bought 2 of those wooden fans. I really love the banister & little scrolls made just from card 😆 they're so cute lol.

      Hi Catherine, thank you. I'm so glad that you like my version. This was definitely a project that I needed to make, simply to get the idea out of my head, and it has started a chain reaction of the building that I have ended up creating around it. Good luck with your build, please share, I would love to see your version :-)

      You totally should, this was so much fun to create and very satisfying when it came together. It gave me so much confidence in my creative ability and there are a few different design out there to try. 😊

    Beautiful! How wide is the circle and how wide is the stairs? ❤😊

    • @GinasMiniatureStudio
      @GinasMiniatureStudio  Год назад

      Hello, the diameter of the circle is 80mm or a little over 3 inches, the width of each stair is dependant on the fan blade itself, I tried to keep as much of a full pattern as I could. I know others have made the stairs wider than I have. Hope that helps 😊

    Paper straw 6mm dia , Mc donalds drinking straw 8mm dia cut 8mm into sections to support steps around 6mm either dowel or paper straw. reinforce the steps with matchsticks ( get long ones ) or cocktail sticks (also long ). The sticks have to go under steps.

      Yes absolutely all of what you have suggested would work and if I build this again, I may try a couple. I do think that the wood glue is the trick to adding strength to the entire piece as it’s pretty sturdy.

    This American isn't sure what armature wire is. Can you clarify what is used for the handrail and how your got it to fit? Great tutorial, thank you!

    • @GinasMiniatureStudio
      @GinasMiniatureStudio  2 года назад

      Hi Erika, armature wire is mostly used in model making, with different materials like polymer clay as a way of adding strength the creation. Check out Ace of Clay on how he uses it for his models. It's made from aluminum so is very easy to shape. and re-shape if needed. I'm glad you like the video 🙂

      @@GinasMiniatureStudio do you have any idea what gauge wire it typically is? (Or that you used)?

    • @GinasMiniatureStudio
      @GinasMiniatureStudio  2 года назад

      @@Seimonster27 great question, I am not sure on the gauge of the wire but it's about 3mm dia so reasonable think but being aluminium it's very easy to bend.

    • @dawsie
      @dawsie 2 года назад +2

      The gauge can be between 14g to 18g depending on what the look is your after.
