  • You can hear inside the car the flywheel engaging and dis engaging when I press the clutch and depress the clutch. The single flywheel is more rattly but well worth it in the long run. I would say the car is quicker on pick up to.

To be honest the rattle sound stayed kind of the same did ease down abit but not alot. One thing is for certain, you will feel quicker acceleration and power delivery.

It does vibrate but nothing you cant cope with and its only when the max torque range is reached which is about 1500 to 2000rpm. To be honest never bothered me

Trying to make up my mind whether to go with another dual mass or solid conversion, there is many mixed reviews about it online. I've got a golf 130 so would be same as this, how is the chatter at idle now ? did it get any better/worse after putting some miles on it ?

The old kits (as this video is old now it's possible they used a kit with a light flywheel) came with light flywheels but now a decent kit comes with a much heavier flywheel. My kit arrived today to replace a DMF that failed in 20 minutes from being perfect to slipping on way home to falling to pieces and making a horrible banging only 15 miles later. The flywheel is about 15kg. I think the extra weight makes this problem a thing of the past (I'm hoping) from what I've read about the current smf kits. I've also heard that for the lower powered TDIs it's perfectly able to do the job. My golf is the 105bhp. I have heard that anything over 130bhp really needs the DMF as the vibration is an issue and can knacker itself as well as damage the gearbox. Will find out some point this weekend and see if the info is correct for myself. Its definitely a lot cheaper and considering my car is 16 years old with 130k miles, it's almost a write off to go with a DMF. Worth the gamble I think.

Hi, did you end up doing the conversion? If so how is it now. My DMF is gone and thinking of doing the conversion.

Selim Sariyar It was a different make one. I cannot remember top of my head but it could withstand up to 200bhp+
