I like the fact that the servicemen (and woman) in this scene are Airmen. Many people don't realize the Air Force does many of the same things that the Army and other branches do.
Not A Terrorist Seems plausible except he didn't check the chamber. If he did then he would have pulled the charging handle back, which is not what he did. He seemed to have TRIED to pull back a charging handle but it isn't by the ejection port like, say, an AK.
Unless they were too overwhelmed to move at all. They couldn't move forward because it meant exposing themselves to unknown territory, and couldn't move back since well, they're a fucking convoy and the terrain isn't exactly ideal.

When people call him 'narcissistic' in the movie, they're referring to the fact that he's very fond of himself, they're not saying he literally has the condition.

Well, they did say Tony Stark as well, and seeing as he doesn't understand a thing they are saying, he might have assumed they demand a ransom from Stane, the second highest ranking member of the Stark Industries and a man widely recognised as Tony's surrogate father.
Why does everyone keep saying it's unrealistic for Tony to know how to use a gun? HE'S A WEAPONS MANUFACTURE!!! While yes he mostly deals with advanced weapons, i'm sure he also well versed in normal weapons.
I like how the air force ghost walkers are featured in this movie, you never see any air force security forces in any other movie these days now do you?
The whole narcissism in the movie seems a joke...especially since he saved pizza for Obidiah and loves Pepper...and saved lives hauling his ass back to the insertion point of the movie.
Only problem with this scene: Rhodey's continuity. For the rest, maybe would have added a minute to the film and underscored the horror of actual combat. I see no downside to that.

But yeah, having taken two screenwriting courses I know that pacing is very important. Also, it's obvious Rhodey survives because he's in the rest of the movie. Plus, they may have had the same effect in the final cut, since we don't see him after the attack and that in itself probably suggests he didn't make it out.

Second, it raises the question of how they captured Tony in the first place with the convoy still in between them and him. Did Rhody's HMMWV just up and ditch Stark the second he got hit? A good scene, but one better left in the extras.
