    My son is very smart. Somewhere above 140. I've watched him grow to adulthood, now married with children. He's pretty happy. I don't think he, and most people really are all that sad about their social life because hanging out with a bunch of "average" people, who get excited about sports doesn't really interest him at all. He enjoys his own pursuits. He had his little fellowship in HS and College and was quite happy with that. Truly smart people don't care if their social life is not what is typical. Its not a competition.

  • @raddisonwatson3334

    I don't consider myself very smart. Just smart enough to learn from others. Learning to be content with yourself is tough as nails for many I think, it was for me.
    Thankfully I decided to find a reason bigger than the fleeting intense loneliness, I think this is why there is a link between intelligence and depression and suicide.
    Hang in there guys

  • @ladycatfish2896

      I agree, that you shouldnt dumb yourself down, but the solution i found, which improved my social life to a great extend is act like you have an IQ of 115 around other people. Also if you prioritize associating in terms of your weaknesses rather than your strenghts, you can find equals. I chose dancing and sports for that, because in that things your intellect doesnt play a role. Its just practice. In terms of intellectual discussions you would grab the short stick with those people, but there is the internet, where you can find people for that.
      Regarding that i made the best experiences, when getting to know people over chess platforms, because they often have general interest in high level discussion (especially high level players).

    I related to this video! 137, in school there were many to associate with, RW not so much. I felt the loss, I could not have children, so even my younger siblings with children are distant and do things without me, and that truly hurts.

    Last couple of years I am only hanging out with "proletarians". At least they don't act as if they are the smartest people in the room while saying the most retarded shit ever. And they don't give a shit about social justice norms. With "normal" people all they seem to talk about is how they are eating free range meat and want to become vegetarians or how stupid Trump is.
    With my "prole" friends we can have discussions about stuff till we are almost screaming at each other and they don't think we are having a fight, while with the "normal" people they tend to see a tough discussion as some sort of traumatic friendship ending fight.
    They also seem to be way more accepting of people, if they like you. I have never spend a night drinking and smoking with the parents of a "normal" friend and had fun with them like they were just a couple of friends, with my "prole" friend's parents they drink with my like I am one of THEIR friends, not just the friend of their son.
    They can be a little too violent for my taste, I have to make sure who I am going out with cause some of those types LOVE to fight while going out, and I don't want any of that. But then again even though I am against such needless and stupid violence it is a lot cooler and interesting than talking about how green food coloring is bad for your thyroid after seeing some boring arthouse movie.

      Trump is not stupid, he is talking and acting the way he is because he has to cater to the average population. And all the politicians' lies are stupid, yet the average "proletarians" cannot detect them... but you are the one to complain when Trump doesn't package his speech in deceit

    I never did figure out why people get so excited about sports, I dont really see how it benefits me when some rich millionaires score a point for their team and I dont see why they should get paid so much for playing sports that your average high school student could play for just as long and do it for fun instead of for profit. I would rather do something more entertaining like explore a fantasy world in a video game like Skyrim, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc or do something relaxing like fishing, aquaphonics, or other survival skills but it seems that the majority of the people dont relate to these things.

    This guy has an IQ fetish. As someone who has been involved in the field of cognitive science, I can tell you IQ is quite outdated, and they are getting close to introducing more intricate theories of how the brain works. This is starting somewhat off the wrong foot with, so to speak, "Dual Process" theories, but somewhat modulated with mental model theory, and models of creativity. It is plainly obvious to anyone who isn't indulging in the IQ delusion, that not everyone with a 123 IQ is going to become a Richard Feynman, or having a 150 IQ does not guarantee that you are going to solve a world class problem. That level of achievement reflect underlying processes that are more important to intelligence proper, (and sometimes as mundane as things like motivation and curiosity) than IQ - which is merely a glorified short term memory test.

    If these kids are so smart why can't they figure out to just not act so smart? Every time I met one of these so called "high iq kids" they always just had an aura around them that they just think they are better than everybody else and it makes them unlikable little jerks. Also if they are so smart why don't they learn how to fight, that takes brains to do well?

    • @heatherleisure9217
      @heatherleisure9217 8 лет назад +11

      That's part of the problem. If you're always putting up a fake front around people, concealing who you really are, not only is it exhausting to do so, it's incredibly isolating and increases your sense of loneliness. You're also not being stimulated in a way that makes most people really excited, happy or content to be with people they really connect with. It also makes you less likely to go out and socialize in the future (bad experiences, exhaustion).
      There's the other part where people who act like you make smart people feel bad about themselves just for being born. They didn't ask to be born that way.

    • @Tony-dh

      I do that. I went through all my school, never did homework at home never studied unless i was interested in the subject, generally buggered about but always managed to get B plus A minus passes in everything. I limit my vocabulary when talking to people. Prefer to spend time alone, never get bored or lonely. Have an answer for just about anything. Have a good memory, just at my age sometimes it takes a bit to find stored information. But if its in there I always know. Numbers, faces , general knowledge, facts etc

  • @Republic178

    Yeah, this is true. Happened to me last year in college. My friends are just simply not interested in extending conversation with me. I cared about this entirely too much at the time and got extremely depressed at the time.
    Just get comfortable with being alone. I moved to a single apartment and limited my contact with the people that were my "friends." The key to finding and maintaining friends is just to simply not need them to be happy (much like anything else). I'd much rather be in my apartment watching a lecture from the Mises Institute on monetary theory than at a bar with people I won't likely know in 10 years. Now I find I'm much more comfortable in social situations and Im even being contacted more than I ever was to hang out with people. Sure, this might be explained by the law of supply ... but the point stands. I dont know why people are so bent on making friends or being socially hip. Its not even fun, nor is it very healthy.
    Living your life just to receive the approval of others? Its nothing more than a lesser version of suicide. Yet its a path so many of the sheep seem to go down. Who's going to take the path less traveled?

    If you narrow down LIFE to 'social life' you get what you get - an unfulfilling substitute at the expense of the thing itself. LIFE. Treasure it. Place it first, or well before 'social life' anyways, unless you want to lose it all chasing the ghosts that everyone else is chasing while remaining unfulfilled. You don't need a social life - it is a waste of time(unless it is not), but you do need a life, being and feeling alive, why waste the most precious thing? 'Social life' is the aim and purpose of those that know nothing of life, how to fit yourself into it, or how to live it. It is made into an all-important thing, while being nothing of the sort.

    a pseudointellectual is someone dishonestly or insincerely using
    the language, style, or topics of an intellectual, but who lacks the
    goals, morals, or ability of a “genuine” intellectual. It is someone who
    acts pretentiously and wishes to win an argument or impress, rather
    than modestly trying to find the truth - a focus on surface and rhetoric
    over content. These often involve a superficial understanding of a
    subject and condescension to the audience, as well as possible
    self-delusion (not being consciously dishonest, but rather sincerely
    thinking oneself to be behaving as a genuine intellectual despite one's
    incompetence).

      nigga when i read this shit you sound like you're projecting, or i don't know what. It's like I read these words and they seem like fuel for people's egos to discredit other people even though they're idiots using words. Like I don't know, so it could be possible you could be making a real distinction here it's just you haven't explained very much of it. That's the thing dumb people do (I feel so free in Aaron Clarey's comment section, like I can just frankly talk about what dumb people do), man they always project (sorry but if i'm being honest... my gut is just that you're dumb from this comment, it's really interesting to me because i can't exactly pin point it, and it's really really mean to tell someone they're dumb (even though smart people wouldn't think it's mean if someone called them dumb, because smart people are different).... but whatever it's the internet, it's anonymous, and i'm starting to trust myself and my gut impressions after finding out i have a high IQ.
      Your comment sounds like the typical thing dumb people with egos do--say a bunch of words why people that agree with them are "genuine" intellectuals and anyone else just "acts pretentiously" or "lacks the ability of a genuine intellectual". I think it's the "lacks the ability of a genuine intellectual" part that really gets me... I can just imagine some idiot who thinks that anyone who disagrees with him in an argument lacks the ability of a genuine intellectual. .... Why even make this comment? Maybe I haven't encountered enough pretentious pseudointellectuals on the internet, there's a lot of the internet I don't pay attention to. I'm thinking so much about this one comment, sorry it's late as fuck

    1. IQ does not mean its difficult to find and make friends. Its not really that difficult to meet and an socialize with people with an average IQ. Smart people will often learn about a great deal of topics and usually one or more common topics can be found to discuss with average people.
    2. The issue I find is not finding the time to socialize enough. I often get in grossed in too many interests which limits my time to socialize. Since I am always busy I never feel lonely, depressed, or bored. There is always something to learn or something to do.
    3. There is this thing called the "Internet" which bridges vast distances and enables you to find people to discuss with on "any" topic you can possible imagine. In fact I spend a lot of time listen to pod casts of smart and interesting people daily usually while working on other stuff.
    4. As a young kid it was some awkward for me. I was picked on in grade school, but by late middle school I was able to turn the tide, by learning to conform to what was deemed as appropriate behavior among my age group. I played sports (which is good for you anyway instead of glued to a computer all day), I went to parties, and other social events. My college years was probably the best for socializing, as I made friends at all levels, from jocks to science post grads. After college, work dominated my time and limited my time to socialize while I buildup my career and skills.
    5 Don't discount socializing people with average IQ. There is still a great deal you can lean from them. Many people will have knowledge that a one point or another in your life will be useful. For instance I just bought a large property and I am planning on building a home. I become excessively interested in home design, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, etc. All these people involved in home design/construction have become the most interesting people that I wish to socialize with. They have vastly greater knowledge on these topics than I ever will. Maybe the average Joe sitting next to you does have something important to teach you. All these blue collar professionals have working knowledge that can be applied in your own life. I am sure most Average people will also have interesting stories or event so share if you willing to listen.
    The bottom line: only you can determine how far you can socialize and make friends. Consider that its pretty stupid to be miserable because you refuse to socialize with anyone of average IQ.

    Humans are the most important thing in life, then what would be more important or worthwhile than making other humans?

    • @Atheismo9760

      Improving the quality of life of the way too many already existing people.

    • @dyingalive
      @dyingalive 8 лет назад

      How do you define too many? can i say you are one too many? Also who says what is quality or not, and lets say your thesis is correct, what if the kid you birth creates something that does improve the life of billions?

    • @Atheismo9760
      @Atheismo9760 8 лет назад

      dyingalive Dude I don't want to get into that, cuz it will be just me sharing an opinion already shared before many times. Do some research into overpopulation and just don't believe that "there is limitless resources" nonsense. I just gave you an example for what is more important than breeding even more people. I don't even agree with your premise that humans are the most important thing.

    • @dyingalive
      @dyingalive 8 лет назад

      Thank you for your response. No insult intended in what follows.
      There aren't unlimited resources, and I have researched population. Don't just believe this 'peak resource' nonsense either. We are unlikely to be using the same resources in 100 years as we are today. I was basing that initial question on what Aaron Clarey often says, which i do not personally disagree with much... Just curious as to where he stopped on the not creating some on his own. I'll add here that I do concede that there are false incentives possibly leading to not as optimal or realistic reproduction patterns right now. You decided to answer with material you are now not willing to defend (don't have to but im not a subscriber or follower to you so no idea what you've said before). Material which already infers that you do not consider humans to e the most important. Your example does not have anything to do with not creating another life, as that life could also be one that reduces population and helps current lives. It can actually be a means to what you say is more important.

    • @Atheismo9760
      @Atheismo9760 8 лет назад

      dyingalive Well, the "material" is just the opinion that we have reached or even gone beyond what one species should use as resource and you are already familiar with that and I wan't implying that I have written it before. FYI we are using so much of the planet's resources that species have started dying off because of it, not because of pollution.
      As for reproduction. A life that reduces population would be a mass murderer. Also what kind of careless person would bring a life into this world with the muslim invasion, the self-destruction of the white world through feminism and overpopulation.
      I think that thinking human life is the most important is personal human bias. Ideas are the most important things, ones that don't destroy society, but improve it instead.

    The point is that you take a young girl and put her beside any man. That man looks like a winner and not a loser. Give him a house big normal sized apartment with big view and some seed money he looks like a winner.
    art exibit/musuems = boring
    pretty girl = woww eeee jezzibell
    expensive toy = is this person a proffessional
    Reality that is not a winner. You can not pretend. The truth is that people want you to not live and either be a dumb one year old or senile fifty year old.
    The truth is that your not uncoot your just into something that is not hold an interest to that person at that point in time.

    This makes some sense but the premise that if there were no schools they would not meet is flawed. If there were no schools as there are, there likely wouldn't be the property taxes of which schools are a main excuse for. Now if there was a sort of governing system that did not require property taxes or run schools, people would still need education. Especially intelligent people. They would find better ways to do so, and those parents would send their kids there and they would meet that way. Regardless the kids, being intelligent could learn to socialize in a less adverse environment and later on in life (which we would assume would be less coercive than the one we have now) would find like minded people and create the friendships which i do agree are key for happiness and health.

    Have u guys noticed “dumber” people tend to talk about what happened or do banta meanwhile smarter thinking people discuss ideas and abstract thoughts

    • @seinfan9
      @seinfan9 Год назад

      Yes, that is a good litmus test for the intellectual canyon. Dumber people are more reactionary and don't engage in deep thought, so the conversations are going to be centered more so around describing events that they've simply experienced. More intelligent people are able to engage in the abstract and tie seemingly unrelated ideas together and utilizing inductive reasoning. Going to the extreme here, most living organisms only ever have reactionary behavior because their sole drive is survival; most of their behavior is going to be instinctual. Intellect is more about analyzing the situation.

    Well... Cheers to the author for waking up one day and enjoying the biggest bowl of self pity... ever. One, difference in IQ doesn't necessitate segregation. Two, what many people see as high IQ, isn't really as 'rare' as it's portrayed to be. Hell, I'm black, and supposedly the the average African-American IQ is 85 (trash stat but thats another conversation) while I had a perfect score on the Mensa exam (I have no clue what my IQ is, but lets just say 135); yet I have no issues finding people to talk to among my cohort. I run into people often who are my equal or better cognitively. Top 2% isn't rare; top 1% isn't very rare either. Bored people are boring. Friendless people aren't friendly. Now, if you have an IQ of say... 160 or higher, well life's just gonna be tough, you freak!!! LOL!
