Besides having the outmost respect for this man, I have literally no words. Mark hits so many nails on the head here. Especially about the fact that our leaders - anywhere in the world for that matter - have absolutely no long term vision and only care about their personal gain. I can only say thanks Mark for ridding me of any prejudice I had, and if I had the means I’d give you all the money in the world to succeed in the work you are doing!

Absolutely heart breaking and emotional to listen to Mark's story. Mark's son was an amazing young man who cared for everyone and did the right thing, lessons must be learned, if only the government would listen and help schools with supporting young people who sometimes feel they have nowhere else to turn and also the consequences of their current actions on someone else's family, plus the impact on their life too. Mark is truly a wonderful father and if we had more people in this world who loved and cared for others, the world would be a better place.

I wish Mark the best in his quest to make kids develop that self-belief, learn how to cope with negative experiences, know that the real world is bigger than their peer groups, develop talents and find new interests. Come on kids, you don't have to be what is 'expected' of you. Who cares about 'fitting in' when that role you're playing is destroying lives? Break the cycle of hurt.

What a tragic story. I have been a forensic psychologist since 1999. In my career, I have done Mental Status Exams on accused murderers at an average rate of just over one a week.
I am one woman, in one medium sized city that sees 55 to 60 murder cases every single year.
Every single one of those cases has a victim. That victim has a father, a mother, a brother, a sister, or a best friend etc, that cares about them. For every person that is murdered you also have several people that have had their lives shattered in a way that doesn't quite heal like other losses do. Twenty, even thirty years from now, that father may forgive. He will go on but he will still be asking why it happened. He will still have that small bit that he can't quite get closure on.
We have records for 100+ years. We have been studying crime and violence for well over 100 years. We know how to reduce murder rates, it's not rocket science. We need to drop the ideologies, we need to drop the politics and we need to institute programs/policies known to help reduce pointless deaths. Mr. Prince here is on the right track. It's a social issue that needs practical solutions.
You have the far left and the social justice set telling women, minorities etc that the world hates them and everything is unfair. That's the worst thing you can do to a young kid at risk.
You are telling them they can't make it no matter what they do. May as well give up now, join a gang and sell drugs.
"Vote for me and I will fix your life." Really? No, no they won't, they just want a vote. Do you really think those that run for office by saying they will help the poor, they will stop crime etc really want to solve the problems? If they really do solve the problems they lose their voter base.
Those in politics will get up there and promise this new gun law or that new knife law and they will spend millions upon millions trying to pass and/or enforce these things because many people think that will help and it looks like they are doing something. They know damn well it's not going to help. In some cases it even makes things worse but they are willing to flush mountains of money down the toilet for an illusion that will help them get elected again next year.
More police. That will reduce rates but only because it keeps some violent people off the streets. It does nothing as far as preventing people from becoming criminals. That's the criminology version of sweeping the dust under the carpet. We don't see it, we don't have to deal with it today but that dust is still there and we will eventually have to deal with it.
Do we want to actually fix things and produce fewer violent criminals in society or do we just want to lock more people up after they become criminals?
Mr. Prince is right, these kids need support. They need someone doing it right to bond with and look up to. That gets at the root of the problem. When we get at the root of the problem it improves lives all the way around. When we get at risk kids on the right track it reduces ALL associated crime from petty shoplifting up to murder. That improves their lives as well as everyone in society. We KNOW programs like this work and if we keep them funded long enough, we will make huge progress on these issues. The conservatives need to realize funding this type of program pays off long term. When these kids are on the right track they end up paying taxes and being productive citizens. They are a positive for society. When they take the wrong path in life they are a drain on the system from welfare to crime, court and incarceration costs.
The conservatives need to bite the bullet and realize it won't pay off, they can't brag about it next election cycle. It can improve individuals lives right away but it will take several years before you see reductions in court costs and crime rates.
This is an issue we need to quit playing politics with. To many lives are at stake. We need to buck up and institute real world fixes.

4:41, great example of how the education system fucks kids over, I'm lucky to have developed my own morals but alot of the time school children are never taught right from wrong, never taught what makes people suffer, because schools are too busy being obsessed with academic grades and improvement.

This interview was an emotional roller coaster, this guy is great at an individual level, heart felt, great with dealing with kids and getting to the bottom of their fears and giving them hope.
But he seriously lacks the political foresight to promote genuine change. The school system needs changing, teaching the fundamentals of living in community and how government is failing people - school funding, NHS funding, Mental health funding, regulations on work to have a good work life balance; meaningful work; infrastructure and community funding so areas aren't falling into disrepair fracturing society.
We need a genuine public health movement. Public health methods have been proven to be the only genuine way out of high crime, violence, drug addiction, homelessness, poverty etc.
First things first, Tories out, take them to task upon all the harm they have done to communities. Mass movement, activism.
