I have the same vehicle and also got scam by the infiniti dealership. I had a high pressure fuel pump that went bad and was informed i need to replace the whole engine. I found a mom and pop shop and the solve the issue in one day. The money i paid and the parts i purchased most likely was not even needed. Thank god for good mechanics like you

Not a "scam" what you got when you have comolicated problems you have guys with diagnostic skils not up to par. A majority of technicians in this auto industry are "R & R" guys (remove and replace)...they have MECAHNICAL understanind of how this work..but not a diagnostical understnding.. So when they reach a component/system with a problem they dont understand their firdt imstinct is to narrow it down to a part and SWAP it and hope for the best...when it doesnt change the condition they are LOST... Its not a scam...a shop/dealership is only a pretty building with a name on it..the level of skill of the PEOPLE it hires is what makes it good. Most guys are good at swapping thungs out with their hand...but FEW can diagnose complicated problems....they just "throw parts at it"

I think a fluid flush and dropping the pad because I believe it has internal filters. 195,000 is a lot of miles but fresh fluid can sometime amaze you. Also if it is not a CVT you can add "Transmission Shudder Fix" which is a miracle product. It is worth $170 to flush it and see what happens
The vehicle has nearly 200,000 miles...it may or may not have a user servicable transmission and if it does flushing the transmission may flush out the entire transmission out...lol No disrespect but your kind of thinking might be the exact level of the technician at the dealer that figured the csr needed a computer. Cars are mechanical not "magical" there is no such thing as a mirscle fix to anything....just a proper diagnosis and a proper fix.
My FX37 (which has the same 7 speed auto) had a similar issue. Transmission was starting to slip and went into limp mode few times. Trans fluid was dark and smelled burnt but no metal shavings. Had my mechanic drop the pan, drain as much fluid as possible, change filter, fill up new fluid. It's been few months and so far no more issues. And it costed me a LOT cheaper than a new transmission (as long as it will last!)

Keep doing what you are doing brother, too many mechanics don't go into detail as to what can lead up to certain issues or preventative maintenance or even being honest with customers period they just want to charge as much as possible knowing it won't fix the main issue. It doesn’t need a new transmission. Had the same exact problem with mine. The transmissions are terrible from the start but they are technically sealed non serviceable. I dropped the pan, cleaned it, cleaned the filter, did 3 drain and refills and problem solved. Mine has 217,000 miles on it and never had been changed. Trans shifts like butter. The biggest problem with this trans that I have found is the torque converter burns out. Shudder fix works miracles on transmissions that ARE NOT CVT. All in all fixed mine for around $100 vs $8k quoted from dealer. A new converter cost $500-$1000. Can change that for extra piece of mind. Transmission design is just flawed for such an expensive vehicle.
Great video content. I love your welcoming demeanor and that you bring the viewers along for the journey. I think a little better lightning and slightly steadier video hand will make your videos even better...thank you.😊👍
I have the same vehicle( 2017 Infiniti QX80). You have to watch the dealership especially when your vehicle in under warranty. I only have 95,000 miles on my vehicle. Everytime I take my vehicle in for service they find something. The dealer are some of the biggest scammer out there. That is why it's important to get a second or third opinion from an independent shop.
In reality dealers are having problems finding qualified technicians because there is a shortage...and since corporations have made it impossible for families to own dealerships anymore...so you are dealing with a "corporate mentality" in dealers now... Older guys are becoming retirement age and leaving while dealers are hiring former walmart workers, making them oil change guys, then moving them up to technicians to work on your cars! All to not have to PAY experienced technicians... Its better for real technicians to work on their own nowadays than a dealership...not bashng dealerships though because not all are the same...but these are the issues today
Don't you just love the fragrant smell of the burnt clutch material contained in the dirty transmission fluid. It has such a signature smell you don't soon forget. Probably even worse with the newer vehicles. I might be colorblind to some degree but it shouldn't look like your morning coffee.
I AM SO CLOSE TO BUY AN ARMADA 2024 AND GREAT TO KNOW HOW GOOD AND DRY THE UNDERNEATH IS. TRANS WENT OUT DUE TO POOR MAINTENANCE OF THE TRANS. ARMADA IS NISSAN PATROL Y62 RENOWNED AROUND THE WORLD AND AS GOOD AS A LAND CRUISER. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO... BY THE WAY I HAVE 4 TOYOTA 4X4'S AND FIRST NISSAN IN MY LIST.
I keep seeing the same reply of "change the fluid". Most of todays vehicles have non servicable transmissions...they dont even have dipsticks to check the level. Manufacturers have gone the route of non servicable "lifetime" transmissions...which isnt a real thing...lol..."lifetime" means warranty time
Ive seen the Front diff cause this issue in these vehicles. Transmission could be an issue but ive seen front diff and front differential bushings. Your work is top notch though
You are the go to for auto repairs brother... Like a true disciple christian is the go to for eternal salvation. In a changing world, from honest to dishonest living. Thats present life in the 21 century !
I enjoyed your honesty and consideration for your customer. You asked for comments to help make your RUclips videos better and here are some comments. I think you talk too much. You repeat a lot and if you cut some of the talk down you can get the message out more quickly. But, telling us you are going to call the customer and then telling us again about calling the customer and again just wastes time. I don't know, maybe RUclips pays more for longer videos and if so then that justifies longer videos. Second was your message about used parts was well said, and you mentioned you were thinking about not doing any used part swaps any more because of the risk and being unable to warranty them. That is very good information for your viewers. The side story about the Jeep was interesting and backed up your contention that used parts are a bad idea. Then you go and provide the customer with an estimate for a used transmission. Maybe just to let her know the difference in cost, but you are wasting your time and that of the junk yard and the customer because i imagine you do not intend to install a used transmission. Hoping the customer will not take that option. Makes no sense to me.
Used parts, just had a brand new CVT installed on a 09 Murano, and the torque converter was bad. Had the seller send out a new converter an it runs fine now . Because of the good repore with my mechanic the total job cost me $4k.
I took my VW Touareg to the VW dealership because my climate control was not cooling the passenger side. They told me, before they diagnose the problem they have to replace the AC freon and it cost $220.00 not including the diagnostic. I said, I never heard of having to replace the AC Freon to diagnose a problem having to do with the Blend Actuator door inside the vehicle. I used to work on all my own vehicles and what ever I was not familiar with I, know how to find the information. I am not able to position my body in those tight and uncomfortable places any more, that is why I took it to the dealership... Never again.
You said is leaking from the rear seal transmission fluid I like is a mechanic check the transmission fluid level doing the special level check processes to make sure is low on fluid. That shows the transmission fluid starvation help the problem.
I like that good job boss because you can't replace the ECU after you checking that's not a good job because the Infiniti dealerships they are not okay
Burnt transmission fluid smells like 'burnt electrical wires' and of course it will be dark. Good fluid will always be red. All fluids are originally clear. Coloring is added to distinguish one type from the other.
Thanks for the comments, that's why I don't buy Nissan's because of the transmission problems may arise, I prefer Toyota's or Honda's better technology so far excellent in my personal opinion
@joshuaantoine4225 Good suggestion! a flush would be a waste of money at this point, this tranny is gone, I can do it if the customer chooses that option
I did a timing cover, chains and hpfp cam on a 2012 Qx56 (same vehicle as this one) from the auction with over 200k miles. When I finished I had a misfire that spark plugs fixed. The transmission tho was shifting like butter. That was 3 + years ago and it still shifts like butter. I'd would check fluid, flush and add lubeguard. But if fluid check shows damage then it's over, new tranny
Hey there I just wanted to mention something about the vibration issue that you mentioned in the truck is 1 could be old tires issue 2 the rotors meighbe in bad condition I had those issues with my qx60 (2017) and I experienced that alot when I drive it on freeway and I change both tires and from rotors !!just wanted to say thank you for the tips that you give for your customer and one again am not a technician just wanted to add something to your video
Question: What about dropping the pan and check for contaminants/debris? Probably is the transmission, though as you say, Nissan transmissions not the best and it does have 200,000 miles nearly.
Sir, according to my follow-up of the video and the fault , there is indeed a fault in the transmission, but not in the vibration. There is a loss of transmission between the clutches, which causes the engine to lose rotation for a few moments, and changing the oil is a waste of time. Thank you.
Yea I got a 14 qx60 just recently bought a transmission for it. I advise anyone having this issue, as soon as u feel the first shudder, some only on turns, get it replaced. it will never throw any codes whatsoever until it the gears go out. Fortunately for me it works after restarting the car
Hey champ. Which website can I go to learn about using and understanding all menus in a scan tool. The different sensors and their usual good and bad operating values and all tips and tricks to help diagnose. Cheers. Enjoy a beer at end of your day.
Dear technician, you didn't check the transmission fluid level after you found a leak. The other thing is the vibration comes from the torque converter with the speed you mentioned.
@rafidmedhat9319 A transmission flush would be a wastte of money at this point, I'm happy to do it if tthe customer chooses that option, I gave her the option
I would never have a transmission flush under any circumstances. Flushing a transmission usually results in more problems, especially if the fluid had not been changed in a long time and then the old oil is flushed out and replaced with clean oil, slipping will be a major problem until eventually a more rapid failure. If a mechanic ever suggest a transmission flush, find a replacement mechanic!!! These newer vehicles without the dipstick is a manufacturer tactic to keep customers coming back to have these Jatco transmissions replaced and the Stealerships don’t suggest replacing transmission fluid on a regular basis.
In Europe garage would send the gearbox to specialized company in order to restore it. Most of the dealers/repair shops can’t repair it themself. How about that in the US?
@ definitely more expensive!! I think the last one we did was around $10k. The guy came with a quote from the dealer for $13k. Some of these newer vehicles and transmission problems are wild with the pricing and lack of parts
Please do more of this kind of video. OK thank you thank you thank you. I live in Los Angeles. Where are you? Where you guys come from? Where are you guys picking the video? Let me know. Thank you more of this kind of videos. Thank you very much. Bye-bye.
Usually with these 7 speed trannies the valve body and tcm go bad... and we see lots of p0702 codes for the tcm outpoint sensor failure... yes dark and or burnt fluid is a sign or failure.. If the fluid smells like burnt wires...then your done..
I am the 2nd owner of a 2016 ram 1500 sport, with 100750 miles. I purchased it 5 years ago with 61000 miles. I realized that if I drive off on a cold start, the shift from 1st to 2nd or 3rd is a little rough. It got better quickly as it warms up. In fact, I don't feel it at all as I drive. Do you think I she do a transmission flush? I'm not sure when transmission fluid is to be charged.
Thank you. Keep up the good work. I'm gonna drop it off at the dealership for then to do an oil change and transmission flush. I don't have the confidence to do it myself, at least not yet. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

@williamtorres5619 Thank you! Doing a transmission flush would be a waste of money, change the fluid on this transmission may make it worse
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair give it a try first you never know
I think you are an amazing caring person plus a great mechanic
@mikebarrington210 Thank you!
@carlosbanks8901 Yes!
I like your style, brother. And I like that you filmed the test drive. Subscribed.

@rhino6285 I agree!!
Don't you just love the fragrant smell of the burnt clutch material contained in the dirty transmission fluid. It has such a signature smell you don't soon forget. Probably even worse with the newer vehicles. I might be colorblind to some degree but it shouldn't look like your morning coffee.
@kevinsavard5998 Lol, No not at all

@dumisanitembanimtisi8411 Oh realy! HAHAH THANKS
Hi Sir! I'm also following Deo's you tube from Nongoma
Thanks for the video You should change the oil more than once and clean the filter This happened to me before and things went back to normal
@topfuel1 a flush on this vehicle wuld be a waste of money, the transmission is gone
I keep seeing the same reply of "change the fluid". Most of todays vehicles have non servicable transmissions...they dont even have dipsticks to check the level.
Manufacturers have gone the route of non servicable "lifetime" transmissions...which isnt a real thing...lol..."lifetime" means warranty time
You are the Greatest period!!!!
@MichaelJeffery-v8l Thank you!

@mikembz1 Thank you!
Ive seen the Front diff cause this issue in these vehicles. Transmission could be an issue but ive seen front diff and front differential bushings. Your work is top notch though
@skillz1855 Thank you, I appreciate it, the issue wasn't the differential in this case
Did the unit repair the truck

@ShannonCoffey-l6b Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it, Some customers don't have budget to buy the reman trannies
Used parts, just had a brand new CVT installed on a 09 Murano, and the torque converter was bad. Had the seller send out a new converter an it runs fine now . Because of the good repore with my mechanic the total job cost me $4k.
@keving52002 did your mechanic redo it for free? who paid the labor the second time he installed the transmission
Those vehicles have had transmission problems for over 20 years. Stay away from Nissan CVT transmissions.
@@RoxburysFinest617 I agree with you!
@LazyB-s8p Wow! it's crazy what some dealerships are doing!
👍Real diagnosis Thanks for sharing
@ashercohen4739 My Pleasure!
It's called a torque converter shutter, trans fluid is loaded with clutch fiber as well
@SMiller-q7c Thanks!
You said is leaking from the rear seal transmission fluid I like is a mechanic check the transmission fluid level doing the special level check processes to make sure is low on fluid. That shows the transmission fluid starvation help the problem.
@JoseMedina-lm6fg No! that wasn't the issue
Hay Deo…you should checks the transmission fluid first maybe it’s low that’s also make vibration….
@thearrow5793 Good suggestion! but the fluid wasn't low
Good evening or good morning sir I like the way you do your work
@EdwinTata-rx5zk Hello! Thank you
Very informative, keep it coming.
@walterporter9067 Thank you!
I know you are an honest mechanic
@leletipiham8156 Thanks!
I like that good job boss because you can't replace the ECU after you checking that's not a good job because the Infiniti dealerships they are not okay
@JattaVictor Yes! they misdiagnosed
Burnt transmission fluid smells like 'burnt electrical wires' and of course it will be dark. Good fluid will always be red. All fluids are originally clear. Coloring is added to distinguish one type from the other.
@diahrongrismore1054 Yes!
thank you sir. very informative.i go work on my car now.

@mechtechtools838 Lol!
Thanks for the comments, that's why I don't buy Nissan's because of the transmission problems may arise, I prefer Toyota's or Honda's better technology so far excellent in my personal opinion
@manuellarosa2959 Lol, Thanks
A transmission flush would work I had the same problem with my Toyota rav4 2014 did the flush and the transmission up shift vibration went away
@truth4reel Oh Good!
Hey there I just wanted to mention something about the vibration issue that you mentioned in the truck is
1 could be old tires issue
2 the rotors meighbe in bad condition
I had those issues with my qx60 (2017) and I experienced that alot when I drive it on freeway and I change both tires and from rotors !!just wanted to say thank you for the tips that you give for your customer and one again am not a technician just wanted to add something to your video
@abdushede9115 Thanks but that wasn't the issue in this truck
Question: What about dropping the pan and check for contaminants/debris? Probably is the transmission, though as you say, Nissan transmissions not the best and it does have 200,000 miles nearly.
@iamthevanavator281 change the transmission filter and fluid would be a waste of money
Sir, according to my follow-up of the video and the fault , there is indeed a fault in the transmission, but not in the vibration. There is a loss of transmission between the clutches, which causes the engine to lose rotation for a few moments, and changing the oil is a waste of time. Thank you.
@albazelt2872 My Pleasure! Thank you
We only use salvage companies that cover parts and labor that way it takes care of the customer and the shop.
@TekWorldAuto Oh really? that's good to know that there are junkyards out there that cover labor in case of a premature failure of the Unit
@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair Yes Sir, we are in MD too. We use LKQ and Chucks Auto Salvage.

@janpur1417 a transmission flush would be a waste of money at this point!
Hi ,you may want to build a test Plato for testing transmissions in your shop 😅
@geoepi321975 Lol, Maybe
Wow! Salute to you 🫡🔥🔥🔥
@jeffu3248 Thank you!
Yea I got a 14 qx60 just recently bought a transmission for it. I advise anyone having this issue, as soon as u feel the first shudder, some only on turns, get it replaced. it will never throw any codes whatsoever until it the gears go out. Fortunately for me it works after restarting the car
@yardmantroy7026 Oh really!
Do the Autel scanner do these same things like the snap on ?
@GeneG-wk2mz nope! they are a bit different from each other
Hey champ. Which website can I go to learn about using and understanding all menus in a scan tool. The different sensors and their usual good and bad operating values and all tips and tricks to help diagnose. Cheers. Enjoy a beer at end of your day.
@Swenser Hello! Check out scannerdanner buy his book and get on scannerdanner premium
Dear technician, you didn't check the transmission fluid level after you found a leak. The other thing is the vibration comes from the torque converter with the speed you mentioned.
AGREE... TRY A FLUSH... SINCE YOU DIDN'T FIND METAL IN THAT OIL
That’s what I said
@rafidmedhat9319 A transmission flush would be a wastte of money at this point, I'm happy to do it if tthe customer chooses that option, I gave her the option
You are a honest mechanic and i say you are the one.
And I tap that of your Grace in Jesus name am also a machanic in Ghana
@appiahosei3595 Thank you!
In Europe garage would send the gearbox to specialized company in order to restore it. Most of the dealers/repair shops can’t repair it themself. How about that in the US?
@rainerhasler135 we do the same thin here in tthe States, we send transmissions to a company that rebuilds them when we send the old ones as cores!!
😂😂😂transmission for $3k-4k on that truck…..no way. A lot of these newer vehicles have converter shudder! I deal with them everyday.
@TheFastlane9802 Oh really! do think it's cheaper or more expensive?
@ definitely more expensive!! I think the last one we did was around $10k. The guy came with a quote from the dealer for $13k. Some of these newer vehicles and transmission problems are wild with the pricing and lack of parts
@@TheFastlane9802 you're right these transmissions are expensive
Please do more of this kind of video. OK thank you thank you thank you. I live in Los Angeles. Where are you? Where you guys come from? Where are you guys picking the video? Let me know. Thank you more of this kind of videos. Thank you very much. Bye-bye.
@jkahenian8206 My Pleasure! Good to know, we will make more videos like this! we are located in Frederick MD
Usually with these 7 speed trannies the valve body and tcm go bad... and we see lots of p0702 codes for the tcm outpoint sensor failure... yes dark and or burnt fluid is a sign or failure.. If the fluid smells like burnt wires...then your done..
@GearsAxles Yes! I agree with you!
@carltonmoncrieffe1516 Yes! you should do a transmission flush and see what happens
Thank you. Keep up the good work.
I'm gonna drop it off at the dealership for then to do an oil change and transmission flush. I don't have the confidence to do it myself, at least not yet. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again.
Great video really helped ❤
@lorayhinny8956 Thank you!
I Just can't figure out how the dealerships go about with their way of diagnosing the vehicles they produce...or is it the employee's🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️... This dealership 😢😢 stuff is just crazy senior... And the most craziest part of it all is some of the customers even come and try to compare you to the dealerships who do not even know much about what the auto company has even produced 🤦🏽♂️.. SMH
@Kekeliautos it's unbelievable my friend!!
Leaking drive shafts bearing could be the cause ?? Had the same issue with the cutting deck on my lawn tractor only found the problem after deciding to replace all bearings one fell apart on dosmantli g😅😅
@gervanmyers3066 Oh cool, The leaking tailshaft seal was a problem not the main issue here

OK when the owner changes the spark plugs, did he make sure that all the spark plugs were properly Gapped so that the vehicle can get the proper fire that it needs when you’re trying to go fast
