I live in Canada..just saw ur channel..last year the check light is low evap leak but shops I went to say just drive..I went to the dealership and the mechanic says I have to do a compression test for $300 and I refuse because I know dealers are crooked..I am impressed with your professionalism and honesty..wish I was close to ur location
How can a small fault drive the mechanic crazy, but with the right tools and great knowledge and experience like yours complete the picture, thank you very much for sharing
There was not small fault . When you know the result is easy to judge how ever during diagnosis is required tools , knowledge to do the proper interpretation of the data , service information, training
I am not a technician, but this video caught my attention, because I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla, same year as the one in this video, which showed for the first time the check engine light on, at 236,587 miles on Jan.14 2022: it was corrected, diagnosed as an intake manifold gasket leak. Replacing the gasket, it disappeared, but the Corolla was 18 years old since new with me, the original owner. So the engine light returned, with a P0441 code, which still remains now. I learned from videos like this, the many rubber hoses that crack because of the car's age, and replaced with OEM Toyota parts all which were showing cracks, like vaccum hoses, all with oem parts, the fuel cap was replaced twice with the original Toyota cap, the oem EVAP Charcoal Canister too, oem, the Purge Solenoid Valve, PCV Valve, Mass air flow sensor, oem, oxygen sensor, oem, but no matter the car runs smoothly, the P0441 engine code remains, the only one remaining. Not all mechanics specialize in diagnostics, and I saved money for parts by just buying many oem parts that were damaged, but this one looks like a case for someone like you; I also replaced the exhaust manifold and gasket with the Toyota oem parts. I know it still needs a power steering pressure hose, front and rear suspension work and parts, is expensive but this Corolla has now 307,495 miles with me, no cvt transmission, just a 4 speed automatic transmission, no ABS, no turbo, no low tension piston rings, is more reliable than the newer Corollas, I think you can understand why as many people want to keep it. But I am too far away in Puerto Rico. Thanks for the video.
Really good work man i used to have to do evap work all the time when i was a tech at honda been gone from dealership for almost 10 years now ...this was a good refresher because i forgot alot of what i learned over the years being a line tech. You definitely know what your doing keep up the good honest work. My dad has this same vehicle with a 4 cylinder has 2 evap codes and i remember him telling my he installed a aftermarket gas cap i bet this is cause his code also
I have a 2003 toyota highlander fwd bought used 2009..@ 95k....still running solid after 320k..everything original just paint peeling off starting 2021.is D best car ever made by toyota zero check engine light
I am wondering about the shops the customer seen them before your shops do they have a smoke machine or not or do they have a scanners 😖😖😖😖😖I am very sad about the customer and how much he paid and not solve the problem (thief’s)..thank you man and I like the way you treat this car and makes customers happy…😁😁😁😁😁😁👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I see good mechanic already but you are one of the best God have around keep up the Great works I pray God favors and blessings over your shope ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thorough job! Smart of the customer to let YOU do it. If he took it back, replaced cap, it may had more leaks & they wouldn't do it like you did.👍 That's a nice HIGHLANDER for how many miles on it. PEOPLE, NO aftermarket parts on Toyotas! 😉✊️👍🖖🇺🇸
Great video as always, but you repaired 2 separate system leaking conditions dealing with several system failures at one’s , leaking hose issues definitely an issue and contributing to the leak and also 2 the gas cap.
Thats what I was talking about, little things like, " now im gonna remove the smoke machine" you dont have to tell us that😅 and once again you need a hands free camera that you can strap to your head or put those new cameras on tripods & have them pointed at different angles. The reason I say this is because we can see your only using 1 hand and holding the camera with the other, thats why you gotta watch south Main Auto to see how he shoots his Videos. hands free😊its up to you, great job troubleshooting 😊
When most shops see a P04** code, the gas cap is like an automatic default item. Most shops don't smoke test or know how. That's good for me as 75% are those who have been to multiple shops. And I love those electrical issues as well! 😁👍❤️
Try changing the title for more views and better algorithms: I would start with - Toyota Highlander ……. And so on and remove number from the front of title. Keep up the good work.
Love what you’re doing for people to help the community & to push your self to learn more everyday! I will continue to support you with likes and direct people to your site. I as a mechanic watch the new kids for entertainment/ making my life not a waste. But Homie a toyota product that has a EVAP code is a gas cap or can vent line some retard left off at an air filter change. P04anything on any toyota is feeling the gas cap tightening and look @ the seal ring! Push your customer to try a world pack factory cap first for a reduced labor like .5 for a code scan and clear . They come back and give you more money for a reduced diag cost on a 90% no think diag
I did the same thing to my 04 lexus es330. A broken vacuum hose. I used a magnifying 🔎 to detect the cracks. I swapped out all bad vacuum hoses. No more check engine light. I am a honda guy ❤. Great job. Where is your shop located?
YES! My Brother... I love the video,i am having that same problem on my Toyota townace 3c-e diesel engine, the electrician/Mechanic cause me to spend so much money buying parts and i still has the problem...I will try your solution and let you know if it works...THANKS BRO!

great work ... i suspect the two previous shops might have been either too lazy to take out their smoke machine to see the broken hose or even bother checking the cap when they look at the milage thing it's too old to even bother so one of the shop use a cheap method and zip tie the already brittle hoses😮💨
Great job diagnosing, but pretty standard. Obviously, the other shops didn't even try to properly repair the vehicle. A simple smoke test would have narrowed it down. I do hope your the kind of mechanic to replace ALL those evap hoses and add proper clips instead of tie wraps in the hot engine bay
A lot of shops just trow parts at the problem from the obd reading. I see why. They get paid regardless if the problem is fix or not. The part was changed and the bill is paid. Fast 💨
