In August 2018, The Danish Broadcast Corporation (DR) aired a concert entitled ”Gaming in Symphony” performed by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra /DR SymfoniOrkestret with The Danish National Concert Choir and various soloists conducted by Eimear Noone. The concert was hosted by the legendary TV presenter Jakob Stegelmann. The music performed was titles from a wide range of video games such as World of Warcraft, Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty, Hitman, Final Fantasy and many more.

The conductor is Eimar Noone. She has conducted for the Video Games Live symphony. She also composed music for WoW among others. She's awesome to see live.
She fears of Sephiroth's wrath as she fascinated with Sephiroth.
A wonderful interpretation with an emphasis on strength rather then making it faster like many others tend to. It makes this piece of art sound truly majestic.

I hate how people think increased tempo means talent. I see it a lot with “Find your way” from ff8. Everyone plays it was too god damn fast and destroys the song.
But wasn't that the point of this song? To make you feel like Sephiroth is a threat? Making it slow, at least to me doesn't buy it, yeah, it makes emphasis on the strength and all but to me, it kills the whole point of One-Winged Angel which is to make you feel like a great beast full of hatred is coming right to you and no one else, you're the objective, you're the victim

@@Kira121086 this one's at the tempo of the Advent one.... It's just straight orchestra with the original lyrics. (I like both don't get me wrong, but I feel like the Black Mages one only works in the context of Advent Children) it's like the best things of each mashed together....

I was wondering why it seemed a little slow.
It’s a death march, and there’s no reason for him to rush.
This song was the main reason I decided to go to this concert. The whole concert was magnificent, of course, but this still holds a very special place in my heart. I remember replaying the final Sephiroth battle over and over back in the day, just to hear this song. I never thought I would get to hear it performed live with a fantastic symphony orchestra, but I'm so glad I did. Pure magic!
Oh, and Eimear Noone is a friggin rock star! Watching her enthusiasm and joy throughout the concert was fantastic.

I think it should be a bit faster since it's already slow. It's a march and march tempo is 120, this is right below that just a hair, hovinging and fluctuating around the 110bpm area

3:41 has always been my favorite part of sephiroth theme. I know it seems super out of place, but I really enjoy that part, and then the chanting after is lit as well.

It doesn't seem out of place at all. It is adding more dynamics. I think it is like a bridge in a normal song.
This part has always seemed to me, to symbolize what Sephiroth once was. A brief moment of clarity, to when he was caring, calm, intelligent & in control- before suddenly *SNAP* (4:05) he is gone & JENOVA’s madness retakes him.
Idk why but this slow tempo version sounds more intense and scary than the original tempo.. getting chills just listening to it
It makes it sound like the theme of an unstoppable, all-conquering juggernaut from whom there can be no escape, while the faster pace is more “Oh, Jesus, it’s Sephiroth! RUN!!!” At the slower tempo, it’s dark and terrifying, but majestic at the same time.
Frankly I find the slower tempo a bit more impressive. It’s quite close to the tempo of “The Imperial March”, which to me has always conveyed to me the image of endless ranks of Stormtroopers marching down Main Street in gleaming white armor while the people are lining the sidewalks thinking “we’re in deepest shit now but damn those guys look sharp!”, you know what I mean?
This slow one make you feel Sephiroth is playing with you...and kill you slowly before you feel all the pain that you can afford.
Sephiroth: Suffer now...child...before the time has come.
We all know why we are here today. He will give smash despair.

One of the many reasons why sephiroth is the most badass final fantasy villain
Second best. As much as I am an FF7 fanboy, and view it as the best of the franchise, which is one of the all time great franchises in video games, Kefka slightly beats out Sephiroth as a villain. Kefka did manage to destroy the world, after all, where as Sephiroth merely came very, very close.
But, second place as a villain to Kefka is still an extremely badass villain. And he definitely had better final boss music.
@@BunBun299 the best doesn't mean to destroy the world, but kefka is indeed one of the best villain since he doesn't refrain from killing people and able to achieve his goal, so maybe that's what you like about it and people opinion can be different
For the music, Kefka's final battle theme beat sephiroth in the term of grandness, while sephiroth's theme have that build up and menacing feeling, i get anxiety whenever that theme plays
So, fighting Kefka would feels like fighting creature near God level, while fighting sephiroth would feels like fighting an evil fallen angel
Once again people opinion can be different
@@BunBun299 Kefka did not "manage" anything because destroying the world, which he did not even do but he just moved 3 statues to ruin the landscape was not his endgame. His endgame was endless destruction whenever hope would rise as he clearly showed in the finale. He was the kid who wanted to destroy every new sandcastle. And he failed because it was impossible. Just like Sephiroth failed.

Played at a slower tempo, one of the more subtly ingenious parts of this song shines through: for all its pyrotechnics, the song is still a march. Because Sephiroth, whatever else he is, is still a SOLDIER.
This is the best I've ever heard this song. Really wonderful performance. Extremely powerful.

The conductor singing along with the orchestra just makes it so much better.
Uematsu is such a genius, this really sounds so unique, like nothing else really. There is a video where he explains how he made this song. He essentially just spend like a month making a different "part/riff" and at the end, he just assembled them all into ... this O.o
He composed a full opera for Final Fantasy VI. I recommend you check out the orchestrated version on RUclips - it's fantastic. "Maria and Draco", it's called.

Seriously, "One-Winged Angel" would qualify as a great classical piece in 100 years..
Considering Mozart was the pop star of his time, they'll probably do that with a lot of popular songs we have now.
there were so many minor tweaks and improvement on an already great piece. When i heard the trumpets at 3:20 i just about lost it. It was so euphoric and heavenly. Really added to the sheer grandiose and epicness that he and the song both posses. GOOD SHOW
I love the slower tempo here. You really get to hear each of the instruments shine. Really cool arrangement.
The slower tempo makes this seem a more menacing evil villain theme. I love it!
The energy of this conducter is stronger than Sephiroth's Supernova
This rendition was perfect, no other compares to this performance. The pace of it was flawlessly on point - and the focused instruments (Bell, Cymbal, choir vocals..) at their intervals stood out so amazingly clear.
Absolutely phenominal orchestration by the conductor, i wish i knew who she was.
This one actually brought tears to my eyes.
It's slightly slower though. Played on 1.25x speed, it sounds more like the original.
However, I think playing it slower makes it more mysterious.

No worries, I never played the game and I'm not at big fan at all of turn based rpg's (just not my thing), but damn, this song is almost part of me, the kind of song that simply cant be forgotten... kinda like Sephiroth refusing to be just a memory... yeah, I watched the movie haha

This has to be the most beautifully orchestrated One Winged Angel i have seen recreated from the original. I absolutely LOVE Sephiroth & Final Fantasy 7. This is made me cry.

I seem to be the only one who actually enjoys the slow version far more than other live versions. In the game it obviously has to be faster, but live it is so much more majestic, if it is played slow.
The whole song is one big ass climax. One of the best songs ever created for a game.

I liked the slower tempo. Trumpet killed it. Whole choir killed it. They got into a groove towards the end. Great job overall.

I remember, in 2019 I was at a Distant Worlds concert, and everyone in the public were singing SEPHIROTH during this song. IT. WAS. EPIC.

The bell ..... the bell makes it come together .... guys it has been so many years since I’ve played FFVII with the four cds and I still get goose bumps ... how many times he took me down to 1HP and my frantic struggle to apply max elixir hoping he wouldn’t hit me ... the multiple forms the different stages 45mins -1 hour at least going at it every time ... absolutely legendary
I understand that it may look like sephiroth is very hard when we were kids, but sephy in the original game is a total joke ( mainly due to how broken ff7 is as a game ) inbetween highwind omnislash and kotr you can make pretty quick work of him, esp if you're taking care of how much hp he's having

This is perfection! Its played perfectly and not too fast as many versions love to do. Every musician here is truly talented. This took me back to playing the original game. Love how the song slowly creeps up in you like in the game.
