It really is. And it was an RPG maker game. RPG maker is generally a byword, like "Oh, that's cute... You wanna make games? Go play with RPG maker" Ib was just incredible, though.
Ao oni, mad father, witch's house, mermaid swamp, and a few others are all good games that i think were also RPG maker games. I'd say 95% of RPG maker games suck, and the 5% that don't basically make it straight to the top of the ranks in indie games. I think the simple format and utility of RPG maker just attracts a lot of people who want to make a game without much creativity or effort, so that's why so many of them suck, but some people really put some backbone into a game and choose to use RPG maker.
I couldn't agree more with you, Hero✩Lydragius, but I have to add Misao, OFF, Yume Nikki (I personally don't like this one but it's still a good game) and To The Moon. Those are not necessarily horror games, but god... Ah, the memories... Y'know, back when Undertale just started to become popular, I hoped this RPG-like kind of stuff would be a revival for all those wonderful games. Sadly, it wasn' t the case. (Even if I'm one of these, I have to admit Undertale's fandom just think their game is the besterest and don't take the time to look at other extremely similar games, and that sucks.)
I'll always remember this theme because the first time you walk into this area, right after the jumpscare with the giant guillotine thing in that hallway, you can see a figure speeding away down the hallway just as you enter. It's freaky
This is the creepiest theme in ib but at night with all the lights off and no one in the house and im being chased by the lady in red, i feel like its gonna jump through the screen and try to kill me!!! That is one of the only things that will make me cry
To me, it kinda feels like going inside a giant, darkly-colored, heavily air-conditioned museum on a bright summer day to escape the midday/afternoon heat. That opening sound reminds me of some giant A/C unit starting up, and the 'vocals/voices' make it feel like you're in a big, dark, cool room with air that's not blowing powerfully but still feels very noticeablly cold. There's also that one 'beep' sound, which makes me think of some construction vehicle in reverse, like there's something going on in the warehouse or outside nearby. Cool track all in all.
I invited my friends over for a sleepover, only two of them... one went to go to the bathroom, the other went to fill her water bottle... Soon, I realized the house was silent, but I heard one thing... this song starting to play... it was somewhere around 10:00, and all the lights were out. It freaked me out, and I turned a light on to see my friends standing over me with confused expressions on there faces.... True story
Listening to this is actually way more creepy than hearing it in game..

I'm sure I remember it playing in the area where you help the 'Grieving Bride and Groom' get their wedding ring back.
Yeah, that was a cool area of the game
This is how I imagine the decent into insanity sounds.
