In Ib, this music is played when she reads the book " Carie Careless and The Galette des Rois " and in Mad Father, at the beginning, when you start the game. Everyone can use that for everything, because it's a free music source. And most of the soundtracks of Ib and others games playable with RPG Maker ( 2003, VX .. ) are free to be used.
To the people who made the comparison between this soundtrack and the Mad Father OST... I think that this piece was a creative commons/public domain OST somewhere in the internet that was used by the same people. I remember reading somewhere in the Mad Father OST that one of the tracks was acquired via a site for such tracks, and both tracks are in the game proper. Just thought I'd let everyone know. We all know how rowdy the internet can get when misinformation spreads. ^^
That Carrie Careless short is... surprisingly terrifying, given what it is. I think the reason it’s horrifying instead of hilarious is because up to that point, all of the characters involved had been very normal and believable, without an exaggerated character trait to be found. The little girl murdering Carrie over something as frivolous as a key works as horror because up to that point, we’d only seen the little girl as a very normal, well-behaved child. ... also the music helps.

yep. A lot of the RPG horror games do this in similar ways. There was a song in Misao that was also in Mogeko Castle. I am not a huge fan of mogeko castle cause of the morales they put into it, but ... there is another example of the same thing happening ;)
i really wish there was an ending where you could save both garry and mary, just becouse garry is such an awasome and lovable character and i kinda felt sorry for mary since she just wanted a friend

Guertena is the only evil person in this game. He's the creator of this gallery and his own art. Mary just lost it, probably thought that Garry would soon find out what Mary was and would leave her, (reason why she went insane??) all she wanted was a friend. I really would of liked a ending where Mary didn't go insane and Guertena's soul itself would appear, now that would be interesting. But then again I believe Mary could have Guertena's soul.. seeing as she was his last painting. It's sad.
If Mary didn't go all... Out of whack, there could have been an extremely small chance that she could have convinced one of the 2 to take her place, and she'd live. Her way of doing it was too.. Diabolical.
She only did that because she was afraid they(especially Ib) wouldn't want to be her friend if they found out she was a painting and became desperate to hide that fact...

For almost everyone under me, saying that it didn't make sense for Mary to attack ib: She wants to get out. That's it. She doesn't care who gets hurt or killed in the process. That includes Ib.
In addition to what theb3rn7 said, considering how fragile the roses are, it's probably not that hard to hurt these two. Also, if you plunge anything that thin really hard into anything else, it would pierce. It would be like using a pen.

I was just so sad. After playing the game it didnt matter what end i got or how many times i play it. I was sad for garry, or mary, or all of them in some cases. I just thought: "why cant they all live hapily ever after?"
