I feel like this is Mary's "spiraling into insanity" theme. Her theme is "puppet." She has been in the gallery for a very long time, thus making her quite an old drawing. She is desperate to leave to the point where it drives her insane. When she's insane, she has a creepy and childlike quality, like this song. She's an old creation. An Old Puppet. Hence the name.
A masterpiece of a soundtrack. Personally I like it because it doesn't have to be a "horror" track depending on the circumstance you play it in; it's peaceful enough to play under a night sky looking up at the stars or something to that effect. Enjoyable track even without the horror setting. Pity it was only played during the Moving Storybook, which many people don't even know they can read in the game (it usually causes the game to crash so people skip it, but if you take off full screen it plays just fine.)

We hear this as the game shows us our failure to save Aya from her fate, and that Alfred has indeed turned her into a doll, unable to move, breathe, preserved and *trapped* this way forever. In Ib, this plays twice, once with simple terror, then combining both the fear and the sorrow with the second iteration. The first time we hear this, we’re reading through a storybook that seems innocent, then takes a turn for the creepy, hence making the theme generally eerie to listen to. It appears again if Garry goes insane, Ib loses hope, and Mary decides to stay with them rather than attempting to escape alone. With Garry and Ib unresponsive, Mary decides to throw a party for them, with all the other exhibits from the gallery joining in. Mary then declares that she will stay with them *forever,* which combines the crushing failure of being unable to help Ib and Garry escape, and the terror of knowing they’re stuck with that _facade_ of an innocent girl, into a dark cloud of pure despair. So, to conclude. Old Doll in Mad Father = Sorrow and guilt Old Puppet in Ib for the storybook = Eerie and creeps the player out Old Puppet in Ib for the World of Guertena = Just...pain. Nothing but pain.

I put this piece in HOI4, where I tried to create a dystopia. What happened with the game was amazing! It gave each fight meaning. It can be a sad tale, a heroic march, or anything you want it to be.
I think the girl who cuts up the other girl actually is the doll garry keeps running into, compare them, weird hair and looking kinda samey, the colors are just different (most likely for becoming the doll), as similarity, you as garry rip out a key and color orb out of the doll, just like she cut that other girl in the storybook.

Interestingly, Carrie Careless is the only book you find with a specified author, which is strange, given that every work in the ??? World should be made by Guertena. And yet, not only does it list an author as "XXXX", it's also very poorly drawn, compared to every other piece that roams these halls. ...And with _crayon..._

Not to burst your bubble but Ib came out in 2012 and Deltarune came out in 2018/2019. That's a common theme in some pieces, it's a canival-sort. They're similar, but just in theme. Not saying there's anything wrong with comparing the two! But I would like to say that Ib is an underrated game and it sometimes doesn't help to pull other things into it.
