    I did this recipe for Thanksgiving and it was a huge hit! I didn't use rum extract though. Still very delicious! Also it was my first time baking a cake from scratch.

    Looks great--love eggnog! Going to try this plant-based as I have a family history of Cancer and recently learned that means I need to avoid the estrogen and possible BLV in dairy and choline in eggs. Thank you for sharing

    I make aged eggnog at the start of every year that uses heavy cream and milk as the base and well, we decided to move long distance so it’s gotta be drunk and/or used somehow now in summer lol. Going to try using 1.5 cups of it for this cake (yes it’s heavily spiked, it’ll be an adult cake).

    Hi Kara gn...my name id Paulet, I have a question please...is there a reason why you do not use room temperature butter in this cake please? Looking forward to hearing from you soon.. I really want to try this recipe b4 Christmas. Thanks in advance. Paulet from Canada

      Hi there. This recipe does call for room temp butter. It can be slight cooler than room temp but not warm as that will form a paste with the dry mixture and you don’t want a paste to form, you just want that mixture crumbly like sand. So yes the butter does need to be near room temp or can be slightly cooler but not cold or warm. Hope this helps.

    I love this recipe! If I want to add eggnog to the icing, would you take the spices out of it? I'll be making it for Thanksgiving again this year. Thank you!

      You can use eggnog in place of the milk in the buttercream recipe but leave the spices in as not much milk or eggnog is actually added.

    Lovely can you use all-purpose flour?

    • @IScreamforButtercream
      @IScreamforButtercream  10 месяцев назад

      You can but with some changes. Just take out 2 tablespoons of AP flour for every cup of cake flour that is called for.

    Where can I find eggnog after the holiday? After December it's gone, only seasonal item!

      KRJ N/A I’m not sure that it’s available after the holidays. I’ve only been able to find it around Christmas.

      Try any Mexican store. They call it Rompope and have it all year around.

    Can vanilla extract be substituted for the vanilla bean paste?

    I don’t have cake flour. Can I sub with all purpose flour?

    • @IScreamforButtercream
      @IScreamforButtercream  2 года назад +1

      You can but you'll need to make adjustments as it's not a 1:1 ratio. Basically, you'll need to measure our one cup of all-purpose flour and take out 2 tablespoons of it and replace that with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Do this for every cup of all-purpose flour the recipe calls for.

      lamya elsayed 🤣 Oh my goodness it’s so good! I wish you could taste it! Well some people really like and some people don’t but I love it.
      It’s this thickened cream that has spices like nutmeg and cloves in it. It’s a Christmas drink.
      Think of it kind of like melted vanilla ice cream with nutmeg. It’s really thick and rich and sometimes people put rum in it for an extra treat 😉

      lamya elsayed Yes I actually moved today. Yay! The insurance company paid for rental furniture so I’m all set up until my house is rebuilt. Feels really good to be out of that tiny hotel room! Thanks for asking about it!
