  • Hey everyone! I hope you love this one...this cinnamon roll cake is 'from scratch' and it is a real family pleaser. This cake is moist with an added cinnamon swirl throughout and it's topped with a vanilla glaze. It comes together easily and you'll just bake it in a 13x9 inch pan.
    If you want the printable recipe plus more details, make sure to go to the blog post link below. There will also be a button on the recipe card there to switch the measurements to metric if you need that.
    And as always, please remember I'm a real person and like to provide these videos for free to hopefully help others who also love to bake cakes. Please keep your comments polite. :)
    Much love,
    Kara Jane

    I hope you enjoy this one. Let me know if you make it!
    A few responses to some FAQs for this video:
    1. You need a better microphone: Yes, I know the microphone quality is not great. This video is 2 years old and I have upgraded my equipment since then.
    2. You need to list out the whole recipe in the description: Well the link to the printable recipe is in the description. I provide links to my site as it allows me to support myself and my family. Thank you for your understanding and support. The ingredient amounts are also always on the video as well.
    3. You need to provide metric measurements: The printable recipe on my site has a button on the recipe card to convert it to metric measurements.
    4. Can I use something else besides buttermilk? Yes, you can. You do need an acid to counteract the baking soda in this recipe. That’s what the buttermilk does plus it makes a tender cake. You can substitute it but not with plain milk. Here’s what you can do: You need to measure out the cup and a half of plain milk then take out a tablespoon and a half of it and replace that with a tablespoon and a half of either lemon juice or white vinegar then mix it up. That will make a buttermilk substitute. It won’t be exactly the same but it works in a pinch.
    5. Do I have to make the glaze? Nope, you don't have to.
    6. Can I use a hand electric mixer instead of a stand mixer? Yes.
    Hope this helps!

    Would it work ok if I use self rising flour instead of ap?

    • @IScreamforButtercream
      @IScreamforButtercream  Год назад +3

      Self rising flour already has baking powder in it and AP flour does not. It’s not going to sub out exactly right in this recipe because essentially 3 cups of it would be adding in 3 teaspoons of baking powder and this recipe only calls for 2 teaspoons and also calls for 1 teaspoon of baking soda (which is needed because buttermilk is an acid). If you then went and just added in a teaspoon of baking soda, that would possibly be too much leavening and may have a soapy taste because of too much baking soda. Essentially what I’m saying is it’s not going to be the same if you use self rising flour but if you’d like to experiment using it, feel free to do so but do not add in the baking powder and salt listed in the recipe and probably only add in about 1/4 teaspoon to a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda instead of the full teaspoon. I have not experimented with this though so I can’t tell you if it will turn out.

      🤔 That's a good question. I haven't tried it as cupcakes, but in theory, I think it could work. I don't know that you'd really need to make any changes. I'd still bake at 350 F but start checking the cupcakes at about 20-25 minutes although you may need to bake a little longer...just not sure. I hope it works. Is milk okay if I don't have buttermilk for the batter?

    • @IScreamforButtercream
      @IScreamforButtercream  5 месяцев назад +2

      It really needs to be a more acidic liquid (for the best texture and because of the other ingredients in the cake), so buttermilk is best, but If you can't get it, you can substitute with this sour milk recipe:
      For every one cup of buttermilk called for, fill a measuring cup with 1 cup regular milk, take out 1 tablespoon and replace it with 1 tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar and stir well. Let sit for five minutes, then it's ready to use.
      This will not work exactly the same as buttermilk, but it can work in a pinch and is better than just using plain milk.

  • @ihisatake
    @ihisatake Год назад +1

    What if we don’t have buttermilk? Is there a substitute?

    • @IScreamforButtercream
      @IScreamforButtercream  Год назад +1

      Just measure out the cup and a half then take out a tablespoon and a half of the milk and replace that tablespoon and a half with either lemon juice or white vinegar and mix well. Let it set for about five minutes then you can use it. This adds some acid to the milk and is a substitute for buttermilk. It isn’t quite as good but it works in a pinch.

      Thanks for asking this. You need an acid to counteract the baking soda.

    😍😍😍
    Pecans, love. Sprinkle a handful of coarse pecans and you get that irresistible Swiss cake. It’s d.i.v.i.n.e by all means. 😮‍💨
    Every time I think to take a break from weight-watching and treat myself to something sweet it comes to my mind. 😍😍
    Ps: You look adorable and pretty much loved your word in the description box but you know? You could be double time cuter in a shorter haircut. I know you probably like to wear it long as you may think it suits your personality best and it does appear that you were oretty careful with how short it was cut but shorter is cuter for you , love with hair decorative pins and yes, pink is the color for you. You are pretty, masha-Allah. 🌸🍃

    This recipe seems to be just like the one that was originally made by Brandie from The Country Cook website. If it is, then I think they should be credited appropriately for their original work.

      Hi. I understand recipes can be very similar but I promise that if I use a recipe from someone else then I will credit them. This is my own recipe and I am not familiar with their recipe. If it is that similar then it was not intentional at all.
      Edited to add: I took a look at her recipe and there are many differences between mine and hers. Yes the name of the cake is the same, however it is not the same recipe.
      I do appreciate your vigilance though and your concern.

    I think it needs some pecans or walnuts

      You can definitely add nuts…that would be good. I’m just allergic so I tend to stay away from them as much as I can. 😉

      It’s one click to my website. And it’s how I make a living. It’s also free.
      I don’t know why some people are so cranky and feel the need to leave comments like this. It took just as much time for you to type your comment instead of just not following. I guess I just needed to be told off, huh. I hope you feel good. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    isn't just what you do but what you don't do. Not just what you did but how you did it. Not just what you said but how you said it. Love is so simple yet the simple make it so hard. Love Is full of knowledge yet even the smart don't get it. Love doesn't cost a fortune yet fortunes are spent trying to gain it. Love does demand of you yet you are not willing to sacrifice for it. Those who only seek what love can give and do for them, do nothing for love and others and in such selfish pursuit, in turn rob themselves of love's best gift. Make this year the year you seek to sow love and not just reap it. Be love and not just think it. Do love and not just say it. Talk love and just don't fake it. Seek love and just don't chase it. Embrace it but don't enslave it, share it but don't dare boast in it. Enjoy it but don't abuse it. Free it and watch it come back. Invest in it and watch it pay back. Wash your life in it, light your darkness with it, eat your food with it conduct your business with it and above all else Serve God in it. For whatever love is and is not, it's all of, for and From Him. He is LOVE! "

    you dont have to spoon the flour in the cup dipping the cup in doesn't make a difference

      We’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. Using a measuring cup to scoop the flour can pack it into the cup and could cause you to add a little too much flour to a recipe.
      Everyone has their own way of doing things though so thanks for the comment. 😊
