My question is: would he WEAR a tux? C'mon, seriously, a TUX? If the answer is an unequivocal yes, then make the man a damn tux! If it's a no, then make him a tuxedo apron. He spends enough time in the kitchen, he could bring you joy and wear it ... commando! :D
Marcy I say make the suit jacket but add yourself some stipulations😉. Rob I totally appreciate the pickiness, but not many men can strut their stuff and say “my wife made this and I am looking good”. Love you guys!❤
May the creations never become pert. May the wonderful wearable art flow like a river after a storm for this absolutely fabulous couple. Love you both❤️
Oooo I am so happy to find that we did get the closet tour after all! Hoping you're enjoying Fayetteville and all its lovely weather (assuming it's better than the 50*F temperature drop we're getting today in the NYC area. No comments on a suit for Rob though. That is a tall order, although if Rob can make a vest... maybe it's a group project?
Feels as my man has a bunch of me made shirts too! the trick to getting that collar sitting up - two things. The whole collar needs to be a wee bit longer so add 1/3-1/2 inch into the collar and stay. Scoop the neckline out a bit at the front to make it fit again. 2 - make the first button lower. Pin it to get the button placement right before you sew them in
Hi I've been thinking even more about the collar and I think it's about the cuuurve. I base most of the ones i make off of a 70s pattern and the collar piece has more curve in it than later shirt collars which are relatively straight along. The extra curve in the seam that settles into the stay means the collar won't lie down flat. That's my latest theory! Just going through button and contrast stay/cuff and collar inner selection for a bunch of new shirts for David
Well of u want to make him a jacket. I would love to watch u make it. And of course with your infinite sewing wisdom you will find a way to make something matching for you. I love you guys
You two are such couple goals! 🤩 Thank you for sharing your beautiful light. 💖 Edit: Make him the suit jacket, it can be friends with my husbands unfinished sweater. 🤣
Well, I'm afraid I'm going to be on the side for Team Rob -- Make him the suit. You could take your time and show us the progress -- I think that this is a great idea! lol. Thanks for sharing and I really enjoyed watching you guys.
Oh, Marcy, (Mercy) you MUST make him a suit/tux. I look forward to ALL of your videos! You two are absolutely adorable and make my day EVERY. SINGLE. VIDEO!
A suit and a tux please! He teases but loves what you do for him! Always enjoy "the handmade Harriels" and I'm learning so many sewing tips and ideas. Ps... Enjoyed MIB 4 when I recognized your voice!
I was scrolling through to see the latest videos, and I seriously thought the name of your video was “handsome man’s closet”. Hahaha…..You are such a sweet and fun couple!
Hi Marci and Rob! You look great in your shirts! Marci, I'm sure you already know about him, but the holy grail of home sewing shirtmakers was David Page Coffin. Shirtmaking, his Craftsy class(es?) and his Shirtmaking Workbook would be great places to look for information on how to get the collars the way you'd like. You two are so cute!
I just LOVE you guys!!! I love how you love on each other. And you guys are funny as hell. Love how you feed off each other!! I do want to see the matching outfits with the in laws tho!!! Rob do you know HOW MUCH money ur wife saves by making ALL your cloths!! Stay blessed
Have you ever thought of making Rob some shirts with pearlsnaps? That shirt with the eyelets and the one with the denim sleeve caps would be great for pearlsnaps!
Rockstar again. The pink shirt totally shows off his "guns". Looks like he needs more convincing on Slant Matching though. When I make my Jackets, the lining is the way to tell the story. I've lined them with Ninja Turtles, Star Wars, Batman, Old Maps, you name it. The brighter the better.
Marcy, Marcy, Marcy, I need that pattern for Rob's Hibiscus Floral Tab Shirt! Totally my husbands style. Rob, totally need to haveMarcy make you a full on pert nurr suit. Okay, and a super classy one, but maybe not exactly a tuxedo unless you have a formal you're planning. PS - maybe make it a wee bigger for some "give" for those seasonal "moments", or... dad bods.
Wonderful - i have sewed two items for my hubby and both times he has said he loves them (one he even chose the fabric) - i asked at the time are they comfy to you need me to adjust next time etc etc etc BUT BIG BUT he doesn’t ware them and i feel very deflated so have not sewed him anything since. Hmmmmm but yes make millions and trillions for myself so love it.
Hi Marcy! I really enjoyed this video... you 2 are so cute together!! And Marcy- them's A LOT of shirts!! I tried making my man a shirt, but it was quite difficult- had to trash and didn't look back. Now I'm trying to tackle the Love Notions Dockside Men's Polo shirt, as that is the only style of shirt my father wears, but I'm ready to trash that too. I've done pulled out all my hair (BTW, I love your hair) trying to figure out this Polo top. You've inspired me to stick with it, so thank you for sharing💕
Haha oh no! I’ll have to check out that polo shirt, maybe I can add another look to Rob’s Charlie Brown closet 😅 Might I suggest seasoning your men’s sewing with a little sewing for yourself? If you have a project you love going on, take a little break break whenever you want to trash the polo (this may happen frequently 🙈)
So glad to see more of you! You are both such fun and beautiful people. I say make the suit if he makes you something (be as picky as you want to be)! It’s only fair… he knows how to sew, too!!!
I love watching your videos, especially when Mr Rob appears. I think Marcy should definitely make Rob a suit, so long as she makes it in some sort of gorgeous wax print. And then she could make one for herself too! Think of all the dressup fun there is to be had!
GUYS!!!!!! WHERE THE FORK HAVE YOU TWO BEEN!!!!!!! LOL, Both of you have been missed and yeah! Marcy, he needs you to make him suit, and so perfect at your bright little studio in the sky, your to go soon. 🙌
YES! You should make Rob a suit! You can do it, we all know you can. Give yourselves a year. I think the first question is: What will the suit be for? Casual? Formal? Business? Then, when you both have decided that, take Rob shopping for the garment fabric, that way he'll get exactly what he'd like. Find a suit jacket pattern that mimics Robs' fathers' jacket. Since it fits him the way he likes, you could take the measurements from it to give you a good starting point as to what you'll be aiming for in terms of pattern size (finished garment measurements). If you don't have one already, find a pant pattern that he likes. Then of course, make muslins for fit. You may go through several of those, it's not uncommon. Oh yes! And before all that, when you have time, watch the Kenneth D. King videos so you have an idea as to what you're up against, and what you'll need to do. Good luck!
Making anything for another person is a gift from the heart with lots of time, money and stress to actually make it. If Marcy feels comfortable making you this gift and it isn't something that is going to make her hate a thing she loves to do. Then I think she should do what makes her happy and she's comfortable with. If she does give you this gift then know that it may be a while before she wants to make something as a gift to others for a while. I'm no help, I just know that when I get asked to make something for a loved one I truly do want to see my gift bring them joy...but I also want to sometimes throw my sewing machine and crafting supplies away when I'm in a project over my skillset or in an area I have no personal interest in tackling. Final answer from me, if she wants to make the jacket, I mean TRULY wants to make it then I wish her the best of luck and send lots of love and light to her. Her sewing skills are truly amazing and the results are beautiful.
SEcond thoughts, the collar is fine as it is, it's just that top button placement. also, maybe a firmer stay interfacing, you don't have to do same to the collar
I love watching ypu both so much! THANK YOU for starting my Friday with big smiles! Marcy, a regular suit AND a Tux would be fantastic!! Please keep the vids and laughs coming! XO
I like the very first shirt he put on that was really nice sorry liked it better than your dress. I like that the placement was going down his front of his shirt I also liked his second shirt and I also like your dress brighter colors look really good on you. He Looked very washed out in the peach flowered one. I think he looks great in the Burda pattern, maybe a little snug but the style is great. Love that color on him. I like the pink one, looks good also. Blue/black shirt is nice looking. You make amazing clothes. Like watching your show.
“Why would I answer that question?”😂😂😂😂 I’m excited for the double date with matching outfits!!! I aspire to make my copilot a lot of custom items. Not the missing buttons!😂😂😂😂 Rob sews????❤❤❤❤ Please make his jacket
That was a treat. Since you are going south, I will say that Rob's jacket is now eggs in moonshine, but once again I will vote yes. My guess is that after his ill advised comment on your mom, she may vote you make him a hair shirt.
Great colection! I have more repaired pieces than handmade ones, but my wife has more overall handmade outfits. I have been mending and fixing the same pieces for damn near a decade, I think I can get another decade out of them LOL
Marcy, make him the suit jacket, but you should definitely make a dress to match! You know what I’m saying. I see some vibrant colors and bold prints on that jacket! 😂 Edited to add “visual description” of fabric
Rob is certainly extremely deserving of a handmade suit, but Marcy you are even more deserving to sew whatever moves you. So until that time comes for the suit, sew everything else that moves you! Also I wonder about Rob maybe instead buying a marvelous amazing quality vintage or secondhand suit and your altering it to fit him and maybe also redoing its lining (with something vibrant) and/or some details to please you.
Lysa, I have been SCOURING the web for a 40 short vintage suit! I was hoping to find some options here in town. I was just going for alterations, but I never thought to replace the lining--I love that!
Oooh, I am so TORN! I adore you both and want Rob to finally get his suit, but tailoring anything seams 🤭 so difficult and I would hate for it to throw Marcy for a loop... Can she just make the suit jacket but prep a matching pair of trousers and let someone else with more tailoring experience sew them, or at least do the finicky bits? I'd call that a pretty good compromise m'self. Just let Rob pick the suit fabric so long as you can pick the lining fabric. That way he'll always feel proud wearing it rather than... oh, how can I explain how he always looks in your videos... suffering through his embarrassment to appease you? 🫣 You're SUCH a good sport, Rob, and you two are always so much fun to watch! In case we don't see or hear from y'all again for a while, I wish you and your whole family the happiest of holidays and a very, very happy and healthy new year!! TONS of love to you from the southeastern Philly 'burbs!
If I make things for my husband, they're gifts. Because it's MY hobby. If he wants more than I've done, he's welcome to make them himself eta- we just celebrated 4our 40th anniversary, so I'm not just talking out of my ass 😄
Hey Miss Marcy! I love the French cuff shirt you made for Mr Rob. I have an issue...my husband is an BIG AND TALL man. How do I find a pattern for him. I've looked but no luck can you help?
Oof that can be hard, especially since men’s sewing patterns are a much smaller niche! I would check out Burdastyle and Burda patterns, they do tall sizes for both men and women. Also, the lengthen/shorten line is your friend!
Marcy do you remember when Lilly Pulitzer made mens wear? The khaki suit with the signature print as the lining? I’m definitely seeing Rob in that but I can’t help but hope you bold and colorful suit also….
@@handmadeharriells as human who was very fashion forward in the 1980’s I definitely am grateful I left the shoulder padded draped suit jackets behind. All that rayon silk and linen….ok maybe I need to find my cassette of “forever your girl” and just tap out this nostalgia I have typed myself into….
My mom made my dad a mohair sports coat so I understand why you are hesitating to Rob a suit. My mom was taking a class in men's tailoring when she made the sports coat.
My question is: would he WEAR a tux? C'mon, seriously, a TUX? If the answer is an unequivocal yes, then make the man a damn tux! If it's a no, then make him a tuxedo apron. He spends enough time in the kitchen, he could bring you joy and wear it ... commando! :D
Oh Toni. The answer is yes, and you have me rolling with the commando apron 🤣
Woohoo….for Rob….oh yah
Rob deserves the suit jacket. His willingness to match your mom has "pert nurr" earned him at least one. 😄
I love you guys 💕
Dangit. This is a very rational response. I can’t argue with that 🤣
Marcy I say make the suit jacket but add yourself some stipulations😉. Rob I totally appreciate the pickiness, but not many men can strut their stuff and say “my wife made this and I am looking good”. Love you guys!❤

I LIKE THIS.
Yes to the suit! Do some crazy lining and a pocket square to match! Love it when ya'll upload, makes my day every time :)

I so want to sew clothes for myself. I can do quilts and other fun stuff.
Clothes? Fitting?
We’ll see.
Thx Marcy and Rob.

FUN!

I don’t but I am googling that stat! I’ve wanted to make him an off white linen suit forever. I’ll let you guess his thoughts on that 😑
@@handmadeharriells as human who was very fashion forward in the 1980’s I definitely am grateful I left the shoulder padded draped suit jackets behind. All that rayon silk and linen….ok maybe I need to find my cassette of “forever your girl” and just tap out this nostalgia I have typed myself into….
Ahahah the “boys” caption while he tries to pop that poor back panel apart 😭😭😭😭
Make the man a SUIT!!
Just ❤❤❤❤ U guys!! Make him more hehe!!
27 selfless sewing projects?? You're done, girl!! Now you probably should make a suit... For yourself ;)
TWO VOTES FOR ME!!!
Best couple eva’❤
I mean i totally want to see u make a suit for Rob so I’m bias lol
I would say you are supremely biased 😅now, what if I told you he wants a *full canvas* suit??
So handsome!
I strongly agree 😁🥰
who's that Indonesian bald guy? and good to know you find the shirt color rather than the man "pleasing to the eye"
My mom made my dad a mohair sports coat so I understand why you are hesitating to Rob a suit. My mom was taking a class in men's tailoring when she made the sports coat.
A mohair sports coat sounds DIVINE.
Marcie should make Rob a suit...and he should make her a dress.
YES HE SHOULD
