Just got my 1st Zelos……the blue meteorite GMT………Thanks Chris!
Only con and potentially a deal breaker on this one (the GMT only) is the lack of any minute markers. Not being able to set a GMT to the minute would drive me crazy. Otherwise it is a near perfect watch.
Agreed! I don't understand why they did that?!?! I have the Zelos Spearfish GMT and it's a beautiful watch but for some reason they left out the 1 min and 59 min markers. Very strange!
Chris, great review! The Zelos Mako is a beautiful watch at a killer price point! I picked up a Zelos Spearfish GMT meteorite dial late last year and I'm very happy with it. I really like Zelos because as you said they are always improving their watches!
Great review. Absolutely worth the price and I know having owned 3 Zelos watches.
Looks amazing -- thanks Chris!
1:52 that is some dail, wow....
Zelos makes killer watches (I have the titanium swordfish with the titanium dial and the teal titanium mako), and this seems like another banger from them
Always liked the Mako (not meteorite dials) but this does seem unecessarily thick , as an extra 100m wr means nothing really , for the price & upgrades its definitely worth the money but there's buts , however the new straight up Mako's look spot on .
I agree with the answers on your questions Chris. I am getting the Malachite TimeKeepers GMT edition.
How do you get this one? I'm looking for this also
How many Zelos do you need to buy before they give you the option for the locked watch offerings?
What's the code? 😀
Zelos is awesome. Their whirlpool dials are insane
Looks like I’m going for my 7th Zelos!
The cerakote (non-GMT) one in this series is awesome.
Definitely king of the affordable GMT's ♥️♥️♥️
Beautiful watch.
Good looking watch, got to be the aventurine dial followed by the mother of pearl… but some great looking dials
Beautiful watch just wish the caseback was see through
Man that’s beautiful
Hey, nice video
Great watch for the price obviously.
The dial looks more black than I would have expected (blue) and sometimes it's thé opposite with thé bezel black due to light angle.
How does it look in Real from your POV?
I wouldn't call that a dive watch, the bezel doesn't fit criterias
For me lack of minute markers is a mistake, they could have replaced the inner 24h mark by that, and have GMT function with the bezel.
Most Watches do that, here to have 2 24h rings is overkill. It's to track 3 or even 4 timezones, what's thé point...already 95% of buyers won't use the GMT....
But most people give an excuse because it's Zelos....
Thickness is quite frightening Also for the small/average wrists, but ok.
Bracelet, clasp, lume, etc. All the rest is near perfect as Always with Zelos. Also the New packaging...Congrats Zelos for a true GMT with such specs at such Price point even if it has obvious undeniable cons that are not so common on most zelos
Good specs and good quality and at a very good price. I question the thickness though. It's early days for this movement however and there will be lots of microbrands pushing these out over the coming year. Unless you are particularly keen to have a Zelos I'd wait and see.
I like the new intro
I might buy one just for the clasp
Nice watch
Wow that is so thick haha i do find the case back quite poor on these they look cheap however the rest of the watch is so nice
👍👍👍 Nice Watch 👍👍👍
i love zelos and everything they do
Seems like they've dropped the hardening treatment they had on case & bracelet. The 2021 Mako had it. I would happily pay more for this feature.
My almost 2year old Mako still looks fresh out of the box despite a lot of wear. I cannot say the same for any other watch I own!
The 2021 Makos were titanium, so that's why they definitely needed the hardening coating. But yes, I'd pay for it on the SS as well.
Wish there were a few more options. Want a Mako but none of these really do it for me.
I actually prefer caller GMT´s. I work with 3 timezones and I don't travel that much. I'd actually prefer titanium to SS also.
I'd recommend the rze ascentus then. Titanium collar 3 time zone gmt.
If you use the bezel and UTC system, You can work with 24 timezones with a true(traveler) GMT watch.
Stunning looking watch, is it quartz movement or automatic? Great video !
Lol.
We all have that duh… moment, so it’s in the title:)
Really wish they had put this into the spearfish case instead.
does the dial go from blue to black?
Can’t help but notice the lack of AR coating on the crystal…what a shame for an otherwise good looking watch
Nobody in their coment talk about that but at this price point it IS totally unacceptable. So Bad looking like a cheap thick fishbowl
In your still close ups the dial looks much darker than the bezel or the date wheel
Weird how on the website it says 12.5 mm for the thickness
Is there enough anti reflection coating?
No
I've been waiting for this but really sad on the thickness. It is a deal breaker for me.
@4:23 the seconds hand jumps a bit, is that this movements own character?
Following on from the below comment, why is there a 24 hour track on the chapter ring duplicating the bezel. A third time zone ? Nothing on Zelos website about it, and for me no minute markers are a big mistake. Shame 'cos the frost dial is a beauty.
Yeah...the Mako is kinda ugly. Having said that, I may go for the hammered orange.
Nice but the thing with micro brands is the depreciation factor and will they still be around in 5 years?
Yes, I know from experience that most Zelos watches hold their value and then some.
Yes, it will show by every time they launch, within 1 minute hot version will sold out. I already mention it 4 times(own 4😅, new join).
And until today many people complain can’t get their favor ones because all need to rush to get one. 9 years already, this situation still going on
@@whywecollectwatches None of the pre owned Zelos watches on ebay support that claim. Cheap chinese parts with good movements but as soon as you buy them they depreciate.
@@camarocarl7130 I should have clarified that the Zelos watches that hold their value and then some are usually the limited edition. At least from my experience.
Nice looking watch... but that glare
How do you make a GMT meant for traveling and not have a minute track? It’s a complete deal breaker.
Does seem weird
That’s my exact thoughts abt the new release too. I was sold until I noticed there was no minute markers. Gorgeous pieces but why spend that much money on a watch to not be able to tell the time💀
Agreed!! Wow
I was so close to liking this, but, like others pointed out - no minute scale. What a dud..
Yes, I don't get why they did that either! Strange!
I tried waking up early (I'm in the Pacific Time Zone) enough to buy the meteorite version. I was too late 😔
Its still available in the blue meteorite I believe, as of 10:45am PST
Nope. Wingspan too long, (male End links), why so thick with steel caseback? Why no minute track? Shame. Good movement gone to waste. Why no titanium? I think I should stop there!
It needs an Orange Camo silicone strap.
i always feel the handset is too small
the lighting you shot this in makes seeing the watch impossible.
Good price, and undoubtedly well made, but Zelos watches just look way to busy for my taste.
I like the dial, but the lack of the minutes markers, the overweight in confront of the other makos, the too much thickness 14 without crysta and 15,7 with, for me make a deal breaker, very sorry I will remain loyal to my crystallized ti and ice with 11,5 thickness without the crystal NOT 14
That title belongs to Traska
Are you going to Sell it Chris and just call it the Seiko Killer “Zelos” because all the other watch channels are saying the same thing. No Joke!
How hard did you have to try and focus the camera away from the clear defect on the GMT hand when making this video? 😅
You can clearly see the mark on top of the bright yellow.
Why are your hands always injured? Are you MMA fighter or a kickboxer?
No hardness treatment and it's THICC. I'll wait for a more refined spearfish GMT. Hard pass from me.
Any time I see a dive watch that I like it's already sold out before I get a chance to own one. That is a fail for Zelos.
Since I don't own a meteorite, or a true GMT, and I have family in 2 time zones... 🤑
Too thick for me
I don’t believe you weren’t perfectly aware that the ‘constantly improving’ company failed hard enough to miss including a minute scale…
It's a design choice.
The Zenith Chronomaster Revival Shadow, well admired piece, has no minute marker, and that's the El Primero chronograph.
To each their own.
@@KC-bv9kf, that doesn’t make it more palatable. Polish a a turd as you may, it’s still a turd.
Who hacks at 14:23 anyway? I ALWAYS hack at a major 5 minute index. But I get it. We are all unique.
@@jazzman5598, who said anything about hacking?
‘What time is it?’
‘I dunno? 2:25ish?’
If you prefer to never be certain of the minute, cool. But I do like to know that.
@@Simplicimus1945 if you want to play that game, the +/- per day all but ensures you'll never know the exact, true time with an automatic. Who cares?
mechanical watches are over priced and obsolete. But make for very nice jewelry
I actually prefer "Office" GMT's. Calling one a "true" gmt over the other is ridiculous snobbery perpetuated by people who jack off thinking of Rolex.
Usage of 'true' is a huge letdown here for me. Just another extension of the evil marketing we are all subjected to. Let's try not to forget all GMT watches can be considered 'true'. I love your reviews Chris but this is a big red flag for me especially when you are the one that has harped on about the same thing before I don't see why it's being used here.
As for the watch...well it's Zelos. Case design looks a bit less Zeloesque, which may be a welcome change but it basically becomes another generic watch. Thanks for the review but going to have to pass on another Zelos purchase. Cheers.
This dial is pretty ugly. Looks like the dial of a G-Shock a RUclipsr with no experience tried to paint... It ended up looking like mess, just like the dial of this watch.
I can't stand meteorite dials. I can't think of a single nice one.
@@Tangylives I've looked here. Some look good. Those that are more subtle... But most look pretty busy, like this one in the video (but I think the one from this video is the worst I've ever seen. It really look like a failed project from someone who tried to mess around with the dial).
1. No. It’s quite attractive.
2. Yeah, the blue meteorite dial took it there.
3. Yeah, it’s worth it. Don’t forget the Traska GMT with same movement and surface treatment. I have the Traska but might still get this with that blue dial!
I wish Zelos would spend less on packaging and more on QC, making sure the bezels line up. Their alignment is even worse than Seiko
Couple of things I don't like about this watch, being
1. It's too thick
2. Never liked the logo over the dial, to be precise it's the finishing of the logo, not a fan of the round ish applied logo. If only they can make it sharp or even printed sharply would be much better.
3. A little odd without a frame date window.
Never liked the logo . A logo can make or break the way a watch looks .
This is such a bad looking watch it looks so crap
Way way too thick and no minute markers - bonkers
GMT diver? Why 300m for GMT? + bi-directional bexel… Lum is cooL
Best microbrand in the world
Soon to become a mainstream brand.well deserved.
Signum is also great but not yet up there with zelos.microbrands are killing it these days.
