    I’d never heard of Zelos until today and I’m blown away by the quality these look to have at the price point. The full lume dial takes it to the next level and I had to snag one. Thanks for your quality review, can’t wait to get it on the wrist.

      Oh wow, you're in for a pleasant surprise! They put out excellent watches for the money, with a huge range of styles, and phenomenal customer service. Their lume on most versions, not just the full lume dials, has very strong performance. Even their original Nova (dressy watch) had small but powerful lume applications.
      If you haven't yet seen them, Henry Archer is another that's really worth a look. They are IMO one of the biggest rivals for finishing at the price points and also go above and beyond. Wise is doing some incredible stuff for the money too. Their AD773 damascus offering is unbelievably good despite the price (it could easily rival $1k+ watches). Finally, Direnzo designs are near and dear to my heart. The language just speaks to me. Lots more I enjoy but those are ones that readily come to mind that deserve at least a casual look. Cheers

    Beautiful dial, and Zelos is definitely improving with each version of their watches, definitely evolving from a Microbrand.

      Absolutely, it's been a lot of fun watching the brand evolve. Cheers

    I still dont get the desire for a GMT in general when the Casio Royale exists, but i friggin love that Zelos is trying something new and interesting with full lume dials

      I'm with you, from a practical sense. Much like many other enthusiasts, I don't really have a need for a GMT complication, but it's fun to have the option and mix things up. Most of the time, mine is just set to the local time zone times two. Of course, my dive watches only see desk action and occasionally a splash from the sink. LOL. Cheers

      It's just the latest thing. GMT complications are finally affordable. I actually hate giving up the 60 minute bezel for a GMT bezel so I prefer GMT watches that have the 24-hour markers on the chapter ring and keep the dive bezel.

      @TheBimmer74 Absolutely, the release of the NH34 and 9075 really increased the accessibility/affordability of the complication. I'm sure the significant influx will slow down a bit as the market increasingly saturates.

      Lol. I'm with you. I have a dozen or so GMT watches, half a dozen G-shocks, and numerous other digital watches, but my AE1200 is my go to travel watch.

    Thank you for the video and all of the great shots. I hadn't realized this was using an enamel dial which adds quite a bit of value for the pricing. I am a bit disappointed by the lack of visibility of the "cracked" effect outside of the lume. I was really hoping this would be clearly visible in normal lighting conditions as it's an extremely cool concept and the lume looks fantastic. I also greatly prefer the new bezel being much thinner and I'm happy to see the minute markers that were missing in the first gen

      My pleasure! Yeah, it's pretty subtle in many lighting situations and angles. It's still a fun little surprise when you do glimpse it, but I was expecting it to be more noticeable as well. Agreed about the enamel. The glossiness and resultant smooth surface (it does have a subtle orange peel) give a very different effect than the typical full lume dials. Cheers

    when you put V1 and V2 side by side, the improvement is quite obvious

      Definitely a very noticeable difference in the profile, particularly the bezel. Cheers

    Hi man. I have a Zelos Mako GMT V2, and I want to mod it, wondering if this is possible. I want to replace the 48click 24h bezel with a 120 click diver bezel, and replace the chapter ring from a 60 minute to a 24 hour GMT chapter ring so that I can read the GMT without a bezel. Is that possible? If so, what are the parts I need and where can I get them?

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews  Месяц назад

      Both would be challenging. The bezel mechanism on the bidirectional version is a ball bearing, I believe. Generally, unidirectional bezels use a leaf spring that has legs to hold it into place. I expect you'd encounter compatibility issues, if you could source the parts. Similarly, the chapter ring is affixed to the dial (usually glue) and may damage the dial trying to remove. These mods may be possible, but likely wouldn't be easy or worthwhile IMO.

      @@JonathanTReviews ah damn, so I guess I might eventually replace the watch for what I want. Do you know of similar watches but with GMT on the chapter ring and a minute bezel?

      You're describing a dive GMT configuration, to help with your search. The Revelot Admiral and MMI Turret GMT come to mind with this configuration but they're very differently styled watches. Cheers
