Love the quality of the watch but not a fan of the box and packaging. The box is way to big and nothing special. I would prefer something like the San Martin round leatherette case, small and classy. The plastic bag is a horrible first impression.
I appreciate usable/travel packaging as well, but don't personally find the presentation to be bad. The boxes are larger than I'd prefer (environmental and storage purposes) though I appreciate the tissue paper and personalized elements. I agree, the watches themselves and customer service are really where they shine (and I honestly usually forget about even the nicest packaging soon after, however, I have a ton of dedicated storage and travel stuff). Cheers
@@JonathanTReviews I appreciate what you mean about the watches themselves and customer service. I love the design language of the brand and it really suites my aesthetic tastes. I just think the box/case design doesn't follow in the same vein as the rest of the Henry Archer ethos.
Wow I feel bad from Hendrick. Having you review his watch and not able to turn an easy dial is crazy with your greasy hands. The grease on your phone screen must be a thick blanket. Gross.
Very classy. The [bezel] is flush, beveled, polished, and this one was a bit tight. I've turned hundreds and it's certainly not easy in relative terms. That said, as mentioned, trying to turn it under/around a camera exacerbated the perceived difficulty.
I ordered the Raven ver and was just notified that it had shipped. Looking forward to getting it and Henryk is a pretty awesome guy, if have any questions he will answer them for you. I don't know many brands where the owner cares that much about his customers. Def will be a repeat customer.
Awesome, I look forward to your thoughts when you get it! Agreed, Henrik is a great dude and naturally makes you want to support the brand/him. The watches make it easy in their own right too. Cheers
I mean, this can work on many . If they are loose. I use real tools and still have trouble.
Much of it comes down to the case and bezel construction. If there's a decent undercut, this works with many tighter bezels too. You're right though, so bezels can be a real bear regardless. Cheers
It's a nice watch, but I wish it had a different movement. The lack of a running second makes the watch somewhat lifeless imho. The different movement I'm referring to is the Miyota 6S21. It has a running second instead of the 24 hour subdial and a sweeping chrono hand just like the Seiko VK64.
I hear you, though I'm of mixed feelings. While I generally find the 24-hr dial to be redundant, it can be useful, at least in setting. With mechanical watches dominating my (and most others) collection, the lack of visible movement is always a bit of an adjustment (thinking the movement isn't going). However, my biggest deterrent/complaint with quartz watches is the ticking second. Though it's a personal preference/pet peeve, and it's not as pronounced with a small second (the only way I can tolerate), I still kind of like the tranquility of avoiding it all together. The VK movements consistently prove to be polarizing. Cheers
@JonathanTReviews That's part of what I meant, a small dial ticking second isn't much of an issue to me. That said, three of my quartz watches (apart from Casio digital watches) have ticking seconds, and I love them (one Grand Seiko, a vintage quartz Omega and a radio controlled Casio Oceanus)
Thank you for sharing Jonathan, glad you're enjoying the Voyager!
My pleasure! You've put together an excellent first offering 🥂
I have this exact watch. It's pretty awesome looking. Terrific review JT.
I got the panda from the Kickstarter. I may have about a dozen VK chronos and this one on bracelet is probably my favorite. Highly recommended.
It is excellently done! I'm thoroughly enjoying it as well. Such a versatile grab and go choice. Cheers
Beautiful watch...but the clasp kills the deal.
It could certainly be enhanced and would elevate the watch. On the plus side, the bracelet is still super comfortable. Cheers

if u like yellow take a look at the Nordic marine instruments SOVERN
I previously had the pleasure of reviewing the Moss Green version of that model (along with their first release). Very different style, but great watch. Cheers
This should be automatic
Unfortunately, that would include a pretty good price bump (and likely thickness too), unless using a manual wind ST variant (which would also likely reduce reliability). I love mechanical watches (which significantly dominate my collection), but appreciate the benefits of a mechaquartz too. Cheers
@@JonathanTReviews I would accept price increase 🙋🇩🇪
Not sub-300 anymore :/. As of today. Pre-order is about $390 and without a pre-order will be almost $500.
Yeah, that was the Kickstarter earlier bird pricing. Still not a bad price at all IMO. Not many regulator options on the market in the territory. Cheers
Good review! There are so many choices for this AD7 version. The Damascus Stainless Steel should be better than just Damascus Steel that will corrode and rust. Can anyone share on this point?
Definitely a nice range of options! Yes, in my opinion, most carbon steels would not work well on a watch. Going with two stainless steels achieved the look without increasing maintenance. Cheers
ordered the full lume model
I hope you enjoy it!
ordered the full lume model
Nice, that should pack a punch!
Thanks very much for your initial impressions on the Vega - it also has me hooked. My prob is that I recently bought a pink-dialled San Martin. I can hear myself rationalising buying this on the basis that I have numerous black & blue dials, so why be limited to only ONE pink dial 😅😊
My pleasure! Thanks for watching. If you're still on the fence and want to see more, I have better and more varied footage in the full review. Depending on the San Martin execution, this one likely presents differently. The color is pretty unique and has a nice shift across lighting/angles. Cheers
@@JonathanTReviews Thanks Jonathan. It was the SN0054G-C2 San Martin (pink enamel dial) so yes, the Vega is somewhat different. Def still considering.
Excellent work on the review! I really appreciate it. Look forward to more content.
Thanks so much! Cheers
@JonathanTReviews I also want to thank you for introducing me to Henry Archer with your fantastic reviews. Definitely my next purchase. Although I am completely torn between the Akva Galileo and Nordso DLC Cosmic Purple meteorite. They are both VERY appealing. I have really come to appreciate the unique and unconventional designs of the microbrand world. Thanks again!
@stephanrosos4957 You can't go wrong with either! Henry Archer has become one of my favorite brands and both models have their unique appeal. If I HAD to choose one, I'd personally lean towards the Akva. The proportions and layout are spot on. Cheers
I got one of these 2 weeks ago from eBay nearly new it’s big and chunky the dial is unreal it’s expensive to get these new into the uk with the courier import fees etc but I really want the smaller 38/39 mm version but this will do for now
Glad you're liking it overall! Signum is doing some very cool things with their dials. Cheers
Where can I buy this for $600??
The Kickstarter campaign unfortunately closed a while ago. That was the biggest discount price. I just looked and it's presently available for pre-order around $868 through their site. Still priced well below similarly styled options. Cheers
I am really struggling to choose between the akva and this one. I may just get both.
Tough choice but you can't go wrong with either! Love both models. They're certainly different enough to support both in the collection, especially with the available options, if the budget allows. I'm not sure which I'd pick if I could only get one. Cheers
Hey, what is that gray strap?
It's from a Martin Design watch I previously reviewed. Cheers
@@JonathanTReviews thanks bro, bought the strap and the salmon dial zelos :) it looks so good in your shots
I hope you love them! Cheers
I ordered one, should arrive in August. I’m excited about it!
Sweet! You're going to love it! Extremely well done watch, especially for the price. Did you get this same version or a different one? Cheers
Got the Raven verson..something about the black dial, with gold and red accents. Have you seen it? Or own it?
Awesome! Black and gilt is a classic combo. I have only seen that one in pics but am confident it will look great. Cheers
Great video and thank you for the sharing. Comparing the original sailcloth strap with the new Hydroflex, is there any difference in the quality of the standard buckle system?
Thanks for watching! I don't perceive a difference in quality, however, I much prefer the buckle on the Hydroflex (which appears to also be updated on the original sailcloth straps, as mine are older). The newer buckle is longer but it's also thinner (top view) and more curved (profile view). I wasn't crazy about the chunkiness of the original buckle and it's flatter than preferred. Cheers
@@JonathanTReviews thank you!
Great review. You helped convince me and I just ordered it in green! My first micro brand watch. 😁
Thanks so much! Awesome, I think you'll love it! Btw, their custom rubber straps for it are phenomenal. Perfect fit and so supple. I have a pic of the green strap on this version on my Instagram. Cheers
What’s the water resistance like?
Offhand, I want to say it is 30-50m. It should be addressed within the first few minutes of the video in the specs (usually right after movement and before weight). Cheers
@@JonathanTReviewsthanks bro looking forward for more micro brands video reviews just like this.
Well done review! I'm torn between the Damascus and the polished version. Help!
Thank you! You really can't go wrong with either, depending on preference. The polished damascus is more subtle than typical damascus offerings, however, the pattern is still reasonably noticeable. For me, I definitely wanted the damascus as I appreciate the material/craft and wanted the look. It's not for everyone though and is arguably less versatile/traditional, which is where the polished 904L comes into play. Good luck! Cheers
@JonathanTReviews I'm thinking the Damascus. Love the unique look, and I'm certain it will hide scratches a bit better. Thank you for your feedback!
@danielday7033 If you like the look, I'd for sure go damascus! It's very well done, a cool effect, and much less common (especially in a polished execution).
@@JonathanTReviews You convinced me to purchase the Damascus version. I agree, its unique and just needed something exquisite and worthy for the price point in my collection. Unfortunately, I am currently deployed and will have to wait until I get home to enjoy it. It ships out in August. Again, thanks for your review on this timepiece!
I can't un-see Superman now..
LOL. Better than Clark Kent 😁
Initially I went to Zelos website after seeing their mosaic dial Nova2. Then I saw this salmon guilloche dial and loved it. I want it, but I have to wait a while because I just purchased Grand Seiko couple of weeks ago.
It is a gorgeous dial, though I'm sure your GS dial is as well! I don't expect these will last much longer, but sure some will pop up on the secondary. Cheers
Thank you - this was great. Very helpful. Now I'm off to boil some water...
Good luck! After the loctite is heated, just remember the firm inward pressure on the driver while turning. That part makes a world of difference in minimizing chances of stripping the head. Cheers
Going above and beyond not to smudge the case is dedication! Well done, my matey!
Haha! Thanks buddy! I could have lived without the extreme wind we've been having, making the outdoor footage shaky, but we do what we can 😁 Cheers
Good review Jonathan, I was keen to see this in differing light and I agree the legibility seems to suffer because of the lack of contrast. A different handset/arabic combo would have really benefitted here for sure 👍 Be well my friend and enjoy the weekend cheers
Thanks buddy! It fortunately hasn't been enough of an issue to detract from enjoyment or reasonable function, but legibility could definitely be better. The dial pattern and shade are gorgeous though. Speaking of gorgeous, that MOP you reviewed looks incredible! I hope you have a great weekend as well 😊 Cheers
I see your conclusions in the review are fairly similar to my gut reactions on you unboxing. The full review has not really changed my opinion. That said, having seen the mosaic version, that I do believe to be a significantly more attractive and interesting version of the watch. Still the concept of the original appeals more to me.
The mosaic MOP does look great. If they do a V3, combining elements of the first two variants could be the best one yet. Cheers
@@JonathanTReviews agreed. That could get me excited, though I must admit I'd have to insist at least on a different numeral font.
Thank you for the review and comps. I 100% will swap the strap out in the event I get one of the mop dials before they sell out, the band and large brushed buckle really feels like it's the biggest thing holding the watch back. The legibility challenges aren't the end of the world given that the dial is more important on a dress watch but it is still enough of an issue to push me away from this variant as I dislike carrying my phone during events where suit and tie are a requirement so that work/calls won't interfere. Lume would be a big plus but another understandable decision to remove as it would dramatically change the styling to be able to incorporate. The sector dial is really clean, case back being as flat as it is is very impressive. I would have preferred to see a brushed case to prevent fingerprints but thankfully the polished finish still works well. Cheers
My pleasure! For sure, the strap seems to be an afterthought on an otherwise great looking watch. Easily changed, but the same would have been true for the stock choice. The legibility of this one has genuinely been a functional non-issue. Much like my original Aventurine, where the hands can completely disappear, it's more of a quirk than anything else. Worst case scenario, it makes me move my wrist a smidge, and I'm treated to watching the light play across the dial for my troubles (referring to both versions). I would have preferred the original brushing (or a variation thereof) as well, but am with you that the polish works and gives it a dressier feel. In the end, much like the original Nova, I'm still very happy with the model and think it's better in real world usage. Such an easy watch to wear and enjoy. Cheers
Great and detailed review as always Jonathan! A lovely watch indeed.
Thanks so much! Cheers
Can't afford it, really want it! I love this salmon dial specifically. 😭
It's always tough with irons in the fire. Hopefully one will come up when the timing is better. Cheers
Great video. I love the updated dial, but I really don’t like the supplied strap. It just about goes with the Comet Tuxedo (which I own), but looks completely out of place on this. It’s easy to fix with a new strap, but I’d have expected Zelos to issue such a beautiful watch with a more appropriate strap. Still a great watch though!
Thanks so much! Yeah, I agree, it's a minor thing and easy to change but I would have preferred a different stock option. Cheers
I had the original salmon dial and loved it, but think this dial is significantly better. I liked the king Seiko style bracelet but I always wore it on a strap, so I’m OK with not having the bracelet. The original was not actually a huge hit right out of the gate, but a slow burn that people only came to really appreciate later, and I think the same will probably be true of this one.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience! I agree, nice guilloche and shade enhancements IMO, though the original was gorgeous too. I hear you on the bracelet. I have 2 of my 3 on straps, but it was nice having the option (and super comfortable). Agreed, I remember the whole model initially not getting a lot of love (admittedly, I didn't even get my first at launch). Like many though, it was love as soon as one was in person and on wrist though. Cheers

Not a fan of the fully polished case. I feel like a light brush would bring out the intricacies of the dial better instead of overshining it. I find this part about it a bit irritating, because it cheapens down the overall appearance and at this price point I don't consider it a cheap watch. Another thing I am not necessarily happy with is the crystal case back, as there is really nothing exciting to look at with this hand winding off the shelf movement. It looks boring. A brushed case with a (maybe engraved) solid case back would have done a lot more to capture the vintage appearance of the watch. I have the same issue with my Zelos Comet. It's not a movement I enjoy looking at. Would have preferred a solid case back on it, too. But nowadays every microbrand manufacturer seems to think it's mandatory to have a crystal case back.
I would have preferred some brushing too. The 7001 in this one is better decorated than the Sellita in the Comet, but I can understand the preference. I show it better in the full review going live today. The positive with this one is that it doesn't add any thickness like many exhibition backs do. Cheers
Very dressy watch. I'd swap the straps for something formal and it should be good for a formal occasion.
The stock strap isn't ideal IMO either. I show a couple different combos in the full review going live today. Cheers
This model is actually better looking than the 10 years anniversary helmsman.
I prefer it as well. The original Nova is my favorite Zelos model and this one, while a big departure, carries forward some of the things I love the most. Cheers
@@JonathanTReviews many people tend to forget what a Zelos is. In fact the helmsman is underwhelming for me compared to this Nova 2 on various aspects. All this Helmsman offered is only the special (or not so rare) timacus dial. The compressor style, even the movement, and the rest is unchanged at all since 2014. In fact this 10 year helmsman is going backwards or worse, is in solid caseback instead of display case back, unfinished date window, and Blue keeper on the FKM strap instead of a good leather strap.
If it had crown guards it would be perfect
I probably prefer the clean lines without but wouldn't mind some smooth flowing crown guards either. Cheers
Its beautiful first time i see this watch and is love at first see.💯👍. sorry mi english
It is an excellently done piece! Cheers
It’s truly a shame how small the case size is… this is a female sized medium. 37mm is feminine size! It should be made in 40-42mm
Preferences will naturally differ but that's way too big for a dress style watch on average size wrists IMO.
I mean if you're insecure just say so. 36-38 are like the "average" size for non-divers, especially dress watches.... Even if you want to make your arguement, 30-34 is generally the "female" marketed range.
@@MrReyfan619agreed, especially for dress watches as you say
Absolutely not. My favorite watch sizes are 36-38mm, especially when we are talking vintage vibe dress watches. A 42mm dress watch? Gaudy prole.
I was looking forward to this. Personally I was hoping for a thin automatic movement instead, as the handwinding doesn't have my preference. Considering what has changed, I'd almost go as far as saying that the only thing that I'd perceive as an appreciable upgrade is the guilloché. Yet, I'm not nit a fan of these clashing patterns, and the polished ridges, giving a sectorlike effect do not offer sufficient separation. I think losing the brushed sides is a mistake. It was a very likable aspect of the original, increasing its versatile character and emphasising the sharpness of its finish, especially around those cutouts from the very recognisable lugs. Now in full polish all of that looks softer and less interesting. On the current layout I understand the lume removal, but the balance was better on the original in that respect. It did not detract from its dressy credentials and now we've just gone down a more conventional dress path. The numerals suit a sector dial approach, but they seem undersized and risk disappearing against the salmon guilloché. So, after anticipating this release for some time, I feel somewhat deflated that this is it. That's probably good news for my wallet though. I'd still be keen on having a hands-on experience with the original in brown, teal or even aventurine.
I think you've fairly summarized the differences, though I think the manual wind suits the model well. The CNC guilloche is a technical enhancement but I agree that the polish makes the intricate case details harder to appreciate. The dial layout is a big shift from the original and really makes it a different model in my book. Cheers
The first Nova is the best looking Zelos and somehow with the second iteration it’s one of their worst (in recent times) really disappointing tbh…
It's definitely a significant stylistic departure from the original. I largely view it as a different model. Cheers
Zelos has fallen off.
I think the quality for the money is still there but I can understand the changing design language not being for everyone.
I don’t… well… I guess the backside of the watch is nice. I’m disappointed by this I feel like it’s a misstep.
It's definitely a big departure from the original design.
