    About the offending anime just don’t call it a cartoon because that can get on some people’s nerves. Also while this anime can be very detailed and realistic most of the time it’s still an anime. There will be flashbacks, slow motion, a lot of dialogue, thinking about entire plays and making decisions in the span of 0.5 seconds, and an attack that probably would not be allowed in real life volleyball. As long as you understand that and just go along with it you’ll probably have a really good anime experience.

      does anyone actually still get offended by the whole cartoon shit? Anime is so mainstream now, you'd think not. Plus I don't recall any allowed play that wasn't called in the entire anime. Keeping in mind its a series and it gonna have dramatization its actually good advice especially to someone that's just now starting on anime.

    • @bibeans
      @bibeans 3 года назад +11

      @@brunolopes2205 I know some people who do argue that cartoons are different than anime. So I just thought it would be best to just avoid any unwanted online arguments in the comment section by warning her about it. I didn’t really understand what you meant about the “allowed play that wasn’t called” but I meant that when they improve their quick attack in season two, it probably would be called a double hit because of the spin on the set. But then again there are some gray areas with how the refs could call it. So it could be argued that an attack like that would not be realistic in actual volleyball. I just thought that this would be good advice to give her to make the viewing experience more enjoyable for both her and the viewers.

      correct. Hinata is quite honestly still a "noob" at this point in the story relative to most of the other characters. He is just innately athletic which is why he is a natural. This is also why Kageyama was all "what have you been doing for the last three years?!" since Kageyama recognizes the insane natural talent but disappointed by the lack of technique.

      id say most people that watch haikyuu have a sense of whats realistically doable or not cause volleyball isn't actually that complex in ruling or plays and then there is the fact that people have common sense. I don't think anyone hates her but calling out everything just kinda kills the mood. The fact that she keeps calling those unrealistic bits out has nothing to do with her volleyball experience (especially cause haikyuu doesn't approach anything in such a complex manner that only an experienced player would understand) and more to do with her still not being used to the way anime worksin general.

    Your dog is so cute! Found you through Haikyuu, and I love your content. I have been battling my depression, and I love anime, so I think your channel is really cool! Subbed 😁😁
    Couple things: don’t feel bad for watching the dub! It can be a point of contention among anime communities, but it never really made sense to me. Watch what you like. Haikyuu can be a tough intro to anime sub reading because it’s one of the few that occasionally has lines going on the screen from multiple people at the same time (as in someone will be talking in the background as well as in the foreground and you’ll be able to see what both are saying). I’m an avid anime watcher so I’ve gotten used to reading subs quickly, and knowing the language pretty well helps, but even I have to pause to read when that happens. Usually the background dialogue isn’t important but I’m a thorough completion-ist so I like reading it all 😂
    I concur with other commenters in that the original Japanese is more emotional and has better quality though. And that’s anime in general: high amounts of exposition and high drama are sort of par for the course, by and large! I know of only a few anime that don’t have tons of dialogue crammed in. Anime really is a different beast altogether, but it can be SO much fun. Haikyuu is awesome because every episode is like contagious excitement and passion for volleyball; I’ve even wanted to start playing a bit myself because of this anime even though I’m not very athletic anymore.
    There was a really cool comment on the second video about Japanese language and culture, etc., and I wanted to piggy back off of that and say that as someone who lived in Japan, speaks the language quite well, and taught English there to junior high students, anime isn’t at all realistic and they know it XD but I recall a couple of anime enthusiasts at that school where I taught that liked to talk like their favorite anime character; they were often the class clowns and seemed exclusive to the youngest junior high kids. And profanity is different there too; teachers didn’t mind words like b*$tard and sh!t so long as it wasn’t said to a teacher directly, and I don’t recall hearing actual bad words that much. I will say the Japanese have an intensity in what they do. They’re efficient hard workers when they apply themselves and feel emotions deeply. They just don’t express it as much. So my current hypothesis is that anime tends to show (and exaggerate) those deep emotions, the goofiness, and the intensity that they usually keep to themselves.
    Tsukishima (Tsukki 💙) is such a huge jerk, but I absolutely love him to bits and pieces, especially in season 3! He has such growth, and so does Kageyama and Hinata. I fell in love with how the show and original manga (Japanese comic) truly seem to love their characters. It’s got such a pure heart.
    Oh, before I forget! There are things coming later that I hope we’ll get your insight on as a volleyball player; I was wondering if certain techniques really were possible because they seemed odd. No spoilers on what it is though!

    if it’s easier for you to watch and understand in english don’t feel pressured to watch in japanese. i watch sub and it’s so much better but then again it’s not worth it if you don’t get the full story. we will appreciate anything you give us!! 💕💕

    It was so nice to see you reacting to a dub episode, and I hope you were able to find which you liked better in doing so! I like the energy the dub brings to the table, especially in Hinata and Tanaka, and the nice voices with Suga and Daichi (and Asahi). Hopefully finding a way to upload that won't get taken down comes easily, I know that's always a tricky hurdle!
    Thanks for all the insight into the game itself, that's always really cool to hear. And I wouldn't worry about who you might offend. You'll get the hang of it, and with so many supportive people watching, I don't think you'll get much grief. Can't wait to see more!

    Teddy is an actual teddy bear so cute!! Also, you can react in dub. What matters is what you feel most comfortable watching!

    I think you might be good playing at regular speed. That's what Elevate Yourself's channel is doing and he hasn't been taken down yet.

      @@andreagarciacubilla8678, nah. There are several react channels that do only dub, but dub is meh

    the more you watch this anime you’ll see all of these characters develop like every single one and you may not like some of them in the beginning but they’re really just human and they grow and this includes characters from other teams so have fun with that
