Some people in the comments need to realize that although Erik is a superb volleyball player, it doesn't mean he's going to enjoy an anime about volleyball. Obviously he can relate to lots of things seen in the show, but expecting him to react the same way you did isn't fair. I'm sure that it wasn't Erik's first thoughts when making his RUclips channel that he was going to react to Haikyuu to please people. Thank you for the work you do for random strangers on the internet, Erik. It's very much appreciated.
He had been watching the show for a while though. I understand what you’re saying though
People get too suckered in by people that do the overly staged reactions because it gets views, but I just don't think they are genuine sometimes.
Yeah some people get to excited
Ur weird but ok
The rolling thunder double never fails to make me laugh, it’s got to be one of my favourite scenes😭😭😭
together with the nicu scene
Mine is the double receive
😂
Ikr 🔥🔥
I just seen that scene last night
And I'm finally on season 4
When he says "I literally cannot dive like that" and there are PHOTOS of him diving like that 😂
i wanna be so good that i think i’m bad like that
I enjoy seeing Erik getting confuse over the Renai circulations intro
and why did they play the love is war intro w the renai circulation song HAHAHAH
Next episode: *Trying to attempt Rolling Thunder*
YESSSSS
Double + knock a teammate down
Nishinoya have so MANY moments in this season (S3). The author and animators put him on the spotlight on most of the episodes. Also, this season is where you will acknowledge and appreciate the importance of a libero on a team and how great their impact on the team.
I feel like S1, the spotlight was on Kageyama and showing how important a setter is. S2 was more focus on Hinata and Tsukishima to show the importance of good blocking and good attacking. And now in S4, i think the focus lies completely on Hinata and Kageyama again, showing how important it is to actually think about how you do things (like jumping techniques and so on)
You should see Hinata's libero skills lmaooooo
This comment killed me
Use your hands!
One word.: Face.
Just wait for the nekoma match
Imagine thinking floor defense = libero skills :/
I'm a Libero, and after I watch haikyuu I started to practice more and I fell for my position (Before I hate being libero because I felt like everyone was getting all the attention, but Nishinoya show me that being Libero it's important). Now I work hardest that I can so I could be a great Libero, I used to scream "ROLLING THUNDER" sometimes, more when I am afraid to lose a game, that phrase makes me feel confortable and confident.
(Sorry for my bad english- It's not my native language)
YOOO I'M SO PROUD, even if I don't know you. Both Noya and Hinata inspired me so much (I'm short as well). I love the fact that imagining them training with me helps my confidence level as well!
@@achooo1076 Oh, that's cool. I'm not short- but Hinata also is like an Idol for me, both really make me wanna do my best in every game and it feels comfy discover that there are othe people who feel the same-
(Again, sorry for the bad english- /cry)
Erik: I hope someday people call me a super libero
I honestly think you are the best libero I've ever watched. Better than super
Personally I feel like Erik and Scott sterling are tied best
He says that he is short when he is 183cm
Me who is also 183cm, but wait people call me tall
I think it is all relative to the heights of people around you. Most of the guys on the USA volleyball team are over 6 ft 5 in, so in comparison, he seems short to them. I mean, to someone like me who is 5 ft 5 in, anyone who is 6 ft or taller is tall to me, lol.
For sports that height is one of the main factors they look at 183 is consider short, most players are probably over 195
Well, relative to the people he finds himself around, he's pretty damn short, considering he finds himself around people who consistently clock in at 190-200+
Erik himself said "I looks short because i got surrounded by giants." I look up for US Men's National Volleyball Team roster and his team mate average height are around 190 to 200+. Erik and Dustin Watten are the only two player with 180+ height and both are libero. Even Erik's brother (Kawika Shoji) is taller than him. Around 190 and his position is a setter.
5:06 so cool to hear you say this about the triple block! The strategy they actually had here (because the spiker was so hard to block) was to force him to hit a straight to the Libero. They completely blocked off the cross so he could only hit it to nishinoya. Normally, like you said, it would be the triple block failing, but in this case it’s actually what they’re going for
That jacket is clean. I need one
The third season is mostly about the rivalry between Nishinoya and Wakatoshi
Reason: Noya is the only one who could compete with Ushigima when it comes to skill, sure sukki was a big part of the defense with setting up blocks, but Noya was the one who got the ball in the air
At 5:05, with the blocking this game, the left-handed spiker is one of the top 3 high school spikers in all of Japan, and his cross shot is the biggest threat with his spikes, though all are difficult to get. Their strategy was to shutout the cross shot with their blocking leaving the line open for him to hit directly to Nishinoya, their super libero.
No it wasn’t it was his power and perfect form
@@gangr83 this reply u said was 3 minutes ago and the comment is 3 days ago lel
When did they say his cross was the biggest threat
@@girl-xk2db It's in the second episode of S3 when Coach Ukai is explaining total defense. He says that from seeing past matches, Ushijima is really good at cross-court spikes, which is why they focus their block there.
Is it possible to show your highlights from your matches when comparing to certain scenes. Obviously, not everything in anime is realistic. So seeing a real person make those plays would be inspiring.
Just a thought if you had more time to put into your videos in between your busy schedule.
Noya did the rolling thunder double JUST to plow through Tanaka and that's all the reason I need.
The positioning of their blocks and where Nishinoya was were all part of Ukai's strategy to beat Shiratorizawa, which is the strongest team in their region, in case nobody explained it before.
7:15 Mr. Erik was like "Here's where nishinoya will be!!" I can see how excited he is to see nishinoya get that ball spiked by ushiwaka-san, He's fanboying😍
I'm not sure how much of the show you've watched, but one of the main rival teams of the show has a libero named Yaku. Just as you said, Karasuno didn't think he was very important and didn't stand out much at one point, but Nishinoya pointed out that it's because he's unnoticeable that he's really good.
If you're looking at comments months from now, Haikyuu is written by someone who played volleyball so many of the details about technique are correct and they have many different characters and positions get highlighted. Very well written. Even if you don't watch anime, a lot of people that play sports not just volleyball can connect themselves to a certain moment or mindset during the show. Other reactors I've seen have made connections to their life watching the show. That's why clips like this are awesome for someone that may not want to invest into the entire series.
The double save is amazing! For context that was the 5th set like 16 points in, opponents break chance.
OMG when Erik scoffed "Oh he's only using 70%" 🤣
one of my favorite nishinoya moments will be when they were checking wakatoshi, they didn't make him like 'oh i'm a super libero, i can dig his spikes instantly' and proceeds to show the process of receiving wakatoshi's spikes patiently. waiting for that moment till he get used to it.
Watching haikyuu again makes me realize how great nishinoya is.
cant wait for victoria garrick in this scene
@@labradog05 saw that and was like "yes yes yes yes"
The nishinoya IRL reacting to the anime 🤣
erik is better 😍
I say nishinoya is better just to even things up no hate tho
@@rohananil1266 fair enough but erik is a US national player and a gold medalist
@@rohananil1266 Nishinoya isn't even in team Japan(manga) lol
@@rohananil1266 only Kageyama and Hinata
5:10. That was literally their game plan. To stop the lefty they used a 3 man block to cut off the cross court forcing him to hit the line straight to Noya knowing he's the only one on the team who can somewhat consistently dig it out
If you want to/ have time, you should react to nekoma’s plays in the anime (preferably later on because their opponents are more high level and interesting). Everyone on nekoma has super high level receives and their libero is really amazing. I think you would like it and it would be really cool to see your take on them. Thanks so much for the reaction! It’s really fun to hear commentary from such an amazing player! 😊
His face after seeing Nishinoya's double dig... Same.
5:15 They're actually forcing him to hit line by blocking every other angle but straight because the leftie is a power spiker among power spikers. His spikes are THAT strong that Karasuno made a specific plan to counter that spiker, which is to restrict the angle of his spikes to the point of always hitting straight so Nishinoya would have an easier time receiving it and getting used to his power. You can see him struggling so much to control the ball by puffing up his face every time and lowering his platform angle a lot more than usual.
Nishinoya double save is legit one of the best thing in the anime. That reflex is insane
Nishinoya : Rollingguuuuuu
Him : ThundeRrRrrr
Me : dOubLlLeee!!!!!!!!
Erik Shoji = Super libero!
Thank you Erik for influencing my love for volley ball! You & Haikyu!! together, always love these reactions lol I never even used to care about this sport until this anime + your views on, so you truly are a "Super Libero!".
7:56 Oikawas face is everything.
lmfao the fact all my friends got into volleyball because of haikyuu is hilarious
I got Into all Kind of sport that i played because of anime😂
7:44 is one of my favorite moments of the whole series
Damn Haikyu made a whole character for Shoji.
when i started watching haikyuu i just wanted to play volleyball hinata is only 5'4 while im 5'6 and ive always had a decent jump, so i started paying and then i went to college and on my way home i got into a really bad car accident/fire and it won't be too long before i can play again and boy am i excited
Good luck man :D
@@busuioccristian5153 thank you bro
omgg, a car accident Rest well
Panera treating you well
@@danielkang1560 better every day
6:17 the reason why everyone was surprised is that the other player is left handed so it was very difficult to receive but HE DID IT! 🥳
he's a 183cm libero I play middle blocker in school and I'm 181cm...
thats still pretty tall lol, im 172cm and i plan on playing as an outside
Yea but he’s and adult
I’m 194 and I play basketball
Guessing Erik didn't watch all of season 3. If you see my comment Erik, that lefty hitter is one of the top 3 in the country and their strategy was to close off the cross and leave an opening for the straight where they would position nishinoya. Thats why the triple block was set up that way.
You'll love Yaku too!! Sad that we don't (haven't yet, at least) get more of the Nekoma's libero, but his parts in the manga are pretty cool😍
the reason the blockers werent blocking the line is because the only one that could stop their ace was nishinoya so they forced him to spike to the libero
I've seen your play highlights, and i'm reaalllyy sure, just like nishinoya, it's a relief to have you backing up the team defense. Man your reflexes are so fast
Erik Shoji’s Nishinoya-style double save!!! That’s so awesome. Thanks for doing these videos!
I've been reading alot of haikyu lately and in a bonus story there are some panels Erik appears in!
OH MY GOD SERIOUSLY??? PLS TELL ME WHAT CHAPTERS SO I CAN READ IT
I think the double rolling thunder is in response to Kageyama's criticism of him during practice match against dateko.
What do you mean ?
@@penguin_forest im not sure with the timeline but on a practice match against dateko, the first practice match after kageyama joined the youth team, he criticize noya that he's blocking the spiker way. but not sure though
@@shrwnsnty kageyama wasnt crticizing but the way he worded it may have sounded disrespectful 😅 2nd the shiratorizawa match was before the dateko practice match
@@penguin_forest that happened in Season 4 tho
@@Boraheartsss yeah exactly ? The shiratorizawa match was before that
the triple block was made specifically so make the hitter hit line so Nishinoya could receive it because his spikes are too powerful to block or let him hit any other direction. They make it so he has to hit towards Nishinoya or get blocked, they call it total defense
I binged the whole series in 3 days and it's amazing seeing an actual player give his input on it. Haven't played since high school and man it really makes me wanna play again! Great stuff
Libero for life!! A big spike might be flashy but it will never beat a perfect receive :)) Thank you @Erik Shoji for talking about positioning and technique, I'm trying to incorporate it whenever I play. You play the best position on the court and don't be too hard on yourself, you are one of the best!
your voice is so relaxing to listen to tbh, and your commentary is so engaging. love it!
7:54 was also my reaction (and prolly everyone else's) when i watched that scene
Every time I see that godly continuous receive making Noyassan twist his body - it brings shivers to me.
I really enjoyed watching. Thanks for the clip✨😭
Me: *sees the video title and thumbnail*
Also me: THE DOUBLE RECIEVE
Hello Erik I'm new to your channel and I want to say keep living the dream I was a libero in my schools team since 4th grade and travel team so keep living the dream
I would suggest Victoria Garrick, she has a whole series where she’s watching the entire show! She was a libero for the USC volleyball team.
wow i am soo early ...
you must have seen full season ... it was amazing ...you will understand the reason behind why everyone is shocked when nishinoya passed the ball
Ah, Thank you Erik for this video!! We love you, and Nishinoya!❤️
I need to see a rolling thunder reenactment!
I immediately skipped to the double save part just to see his reaction
I love the way how you react to those receives and explain it. Everytime you tell honestly that what you can do or what not. You are a great libero. I wish I could be one like you.
watching haikyu reminds me of days in my college.
7:28, super libero Erik for the win, woohooo!!!!!!
When the best libero watches the coolest libero.
Well i have a request for you i know its tuff to watch the entire season online because of the recording and stuff so i suggest you to watch the season offline and talk about it in a podcast or something just you talking about the entire season because there are many pyschological aspects in haikyuu which is already painted so i would like to hear your finishing thoughts on it.🤭😌
i'm so glad you always react to Haikyuu stuff, it rlly makes ur content diverse & more ppl can find ur amazing channel. it took me awhile but bc of one of the videos u reacted to Haikyuu clips, it made me find out this rlly cool channel. thanks super libero :D
bit unrelated but love that bomber jacket and the colour on you!
Yay! Thanks! With this, I'm starting my weekend the right way :)
That lefty heavy hitter ushiwaka was National Highschool level in the series, i guess he was the 3rd best spiker in the nationals. That's why they feel so much pressure.
The writer never actually ranked the top 3 spikers.
He is one of the top 3 but there isn't an actual ranking between these top 3.
Lol, He is in top 3 nonetheless, theyve explained it somewhere in the series.
@@vensilenced kuro kinda explained it in season 2 if im not mistaken it was Ushiwaka, Sakusa and Kyriu and the top 5 was those 3 Aran and bokuto
@@nerineradiata4904 yep thats what i was talking about, bokuto was kinda frustrated cause he cant get to top 3.
YES! Was waiting for this one! Have a nice weekend Erik.
Me watching the 100th haikyuu reaction video seeing the clips for the 1547th time
true af
where’s the lie lol
Durch Haikyuu bin ich erst auf den Sport Volleyball aufmerksam geworden und liebe ihn mittlerweile, auch wenn ich lieber an der Seitenlinie stehe. Deine Videos dazu finde ich auch immer super interessant. Greetings from Germany
Is it just me or is Eriks voice really soothing...
You mentioned how the spike was going line so much and they should adjust this was a part of the story and was planned they let him go around the block because they knew he would spike through their block so they tricked him to spike into nishinoya by purposely leaving line open
He did it just to pissed off his team mate Tanaka by rolling in to him😂😁 it was revange 🤣
Nishinoya my favorite character too😭❣❣
in the anime Nishinoya also learns how to set the ball, although he mainly practices this with only one of the spikers. In season 4 tsukishima also learns how to set when he's up infront. How practical is it for a libero to learn how to set from the back line? So far in Haikyuu these 2 usually get a chance to set the ball whenever Kageyama has to take the first touch
"cool epic scene in haikyuu"
eric: "yaa i do same things last week"
I laughed way harder than I should have when renai circulation came on. Super cool seeing you react to Haikyuu and it's good to know that the form in the show is legit even coming from a professional :]
We're ignoring the fact that nowadays is 159
I'm the same height, he's the reason i don't mind being short
Every team needs a player that can just bring ups everyone spirts instantly, It's why Nishinoya's my favorite character
Love your videos!!! ❤️
I hope you watch the whole series. Season 4 is really dope too. Nishida and Yamauchi, Fukugawa watch Haikyuu and even read the manga (the manga ended BTW) 🤗 You will love each character for they have a distinctive characteristics. Thank you Erik for this reaction. much love for your channel 👏🏼
Yanagida too! He's a proper fan :D
Well manga is still not over there will still be an Olympic arc.
@@crushedcornbollgaming8188 the manga ended in July 2020.
@@absFREAKINGOUT yeah but the writer has confirmed another arc
Every position is great in volleyball. They all serve a purpose and they are all connected somehow. I really love it.
That song was put to the wrong intro in the wrong series and put in a haikyu compilation lmao
it is a meme edit
Yes ive been waiting for this for so long
Second comment....
Waited for the double save from my boy Nishi the reaction was worth it
Erik Shoji should react to Scott Sterling plays Volleyball. A quick hilar video would be awesome 😂
please do more season, this is amazing! thank you Nishinoya is literally my favorite
at 5:15 you are talking about the positions of the 3 blockers...
Just to let you know, the plan was to leave space on the line so it would go straight to the libero.
They did this because they werent able to block his powerfull spikes and chose to dig it up instead
Not being negative here, you are probably right in an even matchup, but in defense of karasuno this was just as planned :)
They left the line shot open on purpose this game so Nishinoya can get used to the Spin on Left handed spikes! Then they close out the line shot at the end of the game once the hitter has gotten comfortable hitting the line shot!
I love seeing plays in real life that I've seen and read in haikyuu
This video shows why Nishinoya is my favorite character in the show
Greetings from Poland! Really cool to see you reacting again to Haikyuu, hope you will someday take a look at what was happening in season 4 (mainly second part). Keep up the great work and fingers crossed for your team in Russian League!
You did all those moves of nishinoya in real matches, super libero
Congrats on the win today
Mr erik shoji please do receiving/how to be a better libero tutoril. Im a libero myself n im dying to know how to improve n be like u
Man do I wish Shoji could react to the entire show instead of just specific clips. I love his perspective and genuine joy for the sport. It makes his reactions s such a joy to watch!
Aaaah Noya is my favorite character ❤I loved the video
THIS IS WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR!!! ESPECIALLY THAT DOUBLE SAVE 😫
my favourite haikyuu reaction video ever
I love this
