    • @adir6094
      @adir6094 3 года назад +138

      This contrast is super important, because it comes as imagery in future episodes. If you pay attention to all the character’s names and their team names there will be a continuous symbolic pattern. These connections are super interesting and really cool to find out, as the series progresses we’ll be able to point out more crazy epic symbolism that even your literature teacher would be proud.

    Copying my comment from earlier
    On the theme of building trust:
    One of the things I find hardest about volleyball has always been the trust side of things. I've always preferred setting to hitting for that reason. Setting feels more like it's in my control, whereas hitting (especially quick sets) requires a lot of trust in the setter, so I think it's really fitting that the more trusting player (Hinata) is the hitter in the duo and the more controlling player (Kageyama) is the setter.

    Also, just to expand on the term "ace" from the beginning of the video:
    The series does give definitions, and different teams seem to have different ideas of what constitutes an ace (I've actually been writing an essay about the different interpretations of it in the series and how it reflects different teams' philosophies), but the most bare-bones one it gives is "the spiker you set to when a combination play isn't possible and you're guaranteed to go up against a triple block".

    • @megamert2848
      @megamert2848 3 года назад +17

      I think the way the word "ace" is used is slightly different, it is not only the guy who is most trustworthy and the guy to toss to in sticky situations, this is often because that player scores the most points.
      The following bit is a bit of a spoiler(in the way that there is a certain shirt later in the anime)
      The three rules of the way of the ace shirt perfectly exemplify it:
      Number 1: Your back must be an inspiration to your teammates.
      Number 2: Smash every wall in your way.
      Number 3: Every ball shall be spiked.

    Since you show the sensations. I wanna share mine too. I remember back in 5th grade where we were at our set point and that we were tired while our opponent was intimidating us. When we were passing the ball it went out the court still flying while I ran as fast as I could and was able to to a toss outside the court and at perfect timing. It gave the team motivation to go through our limits. After that the ball was set to me and I jumped as high as I could. It felt like the walls were gone and a force beckoning me to spike my hardest. It made me smile after I spiked the ball hard. The opponent looked at me annoyed but my teammates blocked me from their sight and said "You better back of! She's our Setter!" It made me happy that it made me wanna cry. In the end we won and brought home our medal!

    I love this anime. This is the anime that really got me into volleyball and i would’ve never had thought about just playing around with it with my other teammates. Also everything you say about coaching is everything my dad, my coach for my softball team, also says. He sat out his own daughter due to attitude to show the players and the parents that he doesnt do daddys ball, which means if your daughter is on the team and your the coach you keep them in no matter what type of mistake they do. Another thing he did to prove something is that when parents complained about their children not getting playtime he sat out his best players, which mostly consisted of coaches daughters because we have to go to practice all the time no matter what, and we played the game like that. The other team was also confused because we had played them before and they knew who were the best players as well. We had lost that game and the parents who were complaining was like, why didnt you take my kid out, which my dad was proving a point. Then the next game he put back in all the best players and we won which cause the parents to not ask about it again. So every time you say something that my dad tries to say to use it helps me understand that it just isnt my coach saying that but other coaches as well.
