Haikyu doesn’t need a “villain” character, the true evil is getting good grades
I think the true evil are the exams and the good grades are the ones that needs to be rescued.
I never had problems with good grades and actually good grades and working my butt off saved me from exam in maths but I am for honing people's natural abilities and if a kid is naturally more athletic don't try to mold him into an engineer. And vice versa. We need Hinatas and Kageyamas and their counterparts in other disciplines - they show us the beauty of sports, arts, music. So said I - a nerd, geek and someone who studies for fun.
I think so far, the only """""villain""""" in the show is the old coach from Shiratorizawa, but it's just about different types of view, probably because of his past, which shall not be spoiled
@@viniciuspraseres3435 he’s just a sad old boy, he not a villain
@@viniciuspraseres3435 nope. He is a victim of circumstances and societal views. Even Oikawa isn't inherently bad, just has some misconceptions about being a player.
Fun fact: When Tsukishima calls Hinata a “simpleton”, the Japanese word he uses is “tansaibou” which actually means “single-celled organism” lol
That is such a roast!
DAYUM. I'm going to borrow this burn lol
Ah, that explains hat chapter title
LMAOO THIS IS GOLD THAT IS SUCH A GREAT INSULT
And I imagine Hinata doesn't know what Tsukishima is talking about
"Asahi, the drug dealer"
PLS COACH DON'T JOKE LIKE THAT I ALMOST CHOKED ON MY COFFEE LMAO
Saaame ! Made me laugh so much!
I really love that they didn't make Kageyama a genius in school as well as volleyball. It would have been so easy to leave all the 'dumb, silly' traits to Hinata, but this is just really reminds you no one is totally perfect, and his little moments of goofiness show that he's a dedicated, but fallible kid just like the rest of them. Love Kageyama and Hinata. :-)
Yesss, I love this dumb blueberry 😌. I love how Haikyuu always reminds us that these are all just goofy highschool kids no matter how talented or intimidating.
I see you have'nt met KIta Shinsuke : )
It also adds to the head cannon that he could be autistic. Which just makes me so happy!
It is really cool that the rival of the protagonist is not "the perfect one" and the protagonist is not the only one full of flaws.
@Its Me It's a good thing he failed the entrance exam! I doubt he would have thrived at Shiratorizawa.
Just gonna name 3 forgoten second years of Karasuno:
Ennoshita: the one that tutor tanaka and Nishinoya
Narita: another Buzz cut guy like tanaka
Kinnoshita: the other light colour hair guy
They will shine in later episode/season
Upvote the heck out of this ^
Narita especially, he's the most underrated player in Karasuno
Eternal Bench Warmers ayyyy
To help him you can add that ennoshita last name is chikara cause if I remember well, they call him like that sometimes too
Ennoshita is one of my favorite Haikyuu characters
Fun Fact abour the Author.
Furudate-Sensei actually said in his interview way back in 2014.
That Oikawa Toru and Kiyoko Shimizu are the most difficult to draw because of their good looks.
Hinata (and one more character who appears in season 3, please let's not spoil!) are their favorites to draw for the variety of facial expressions :D
@@TrianaNero wait may I know which other character 😭 HAHAHA i feel like i know who it is but I might be wrong

About Yachi joining the club, I honestly think that she was just distracted by Shimuzu being so pretty and was so nervous she zoned out and ended up saying that she'll join the club.
Yachi is a whole mood in that scene
@@margarete5920 i didn't really like at first cause shes screaming alot but shes more quieter during s4
That’s what it was lol. She didn’t even know what she agreed to XD
that's exactly what happened. haha.
honestly what i love about this anime is the most minor characters also play very important role. in hinata's own words, even town person B can be great. some of the things would never happen if yachi san was not in the show.
@@ammonlolo1887 dude shutup, stop talking about future season
Coach really said that we will be getting one reaction per week but uploads 2 days earlier. Thank you coach!!!
You know haikyuu is too good to watch weekly thats why coach cant resist watching it lol
@@nodaridadiani7984 i know right
I was so surprised 😭🔥
People say that stuff so they don't dissapoint their audience So they don't feel obligated to upload 2 times a week even when they aren't feeling it
gotta admit that I frequently visit his channel to just to look at how many days ago he uploaded the last... "still just X days ago? argh!"
"I would think that kageyama was studious and on top of his grades"
that's what we all thought when we started the show. turns out my mans only a genius when it comes to volleyball lmao 😭✋
If dis aint all of us lmao
Yep, turns out Kags was actually worse at some studies than Hinata even.
Yes, being deceived by his "smart confidant" face.
To be fair, we already knew that Kageyama didn't manage to pass Shiratorizawa's entrance exams, so we knew he wasn't a top student/super smart. Still, finding out that he's just as bad as Hinata academically was a hilarious moment for me.
What surprised me... was that Ushiwaka is just as stupid. Like they both don't know how gravity works in Earth.
Thank God they both got futures in volleyball, otherwise, they'd be human wastes in society (I say this with love for these adorable idiots)
The second OVA actually takes place during this episode, if you like to watch things in a more chronological order you can actually break here for it as the next reaction video.
Hopefully this comment get more likes so caoch can see this.
Upping. Hope coach will see this!

Coach Donny is literally my fave Haikyuu reactor. I'll be honest, I've been here since episode 1 but I've unsubscribed once since I wasn't used to the calm and composed reactions. I've been conditioned to reactors over exaggerating their expressions and thoughts that I felt indifferent when watching Coach. I decided to watch his reactions again after a month and boy was I thrilled. The in depth analysis, the effort of editing real life volleyball plays and just the overall quality of the videos were exceptional.
Coach may not be the typical youtube reactor but he will always be my favorite Haikyuu reactor out there. 💕
True dat
@@ElevateYourselfOfficial You're the best, coach! Rewatching Haikyuu with you is such an amazing experience. It made me notice a lot of small stuff which I haven't before. Your volleyball and animation commentary are always great! Thank you for that! 😊
As an extremely technical person the fact that Coach Donny analyses Haikyuu in this context is just such a treat. Lately I've had a huge hit of depression, and watching anything Haikyuu related was really difficult for me. I still watched the reactions, although I later spent an hour crying (side effects of major depressive disorder), but hey, watcha gonna do. It's Coach Donny's Haikyuu reaction videos^^

Any blonde Female character from haikuu that coach dont know: Appears
Also Coach: Sailor Moon??
"Do not Freestyle your academics"
Damn, coach, I needed this advice a few years ago.
In Japan, dyeing the hair blonde associated with being a juvenile delinquents and by extension being a gangster
Its more of an asian thing rather than Japanese
Damn it happened in my country but i've just realized it
Seriously?
@@locomojoboy2 yea, straying from the norm is a pretty extreme thing to do in asian culture unlike in the west. But at least in my country, dyeing your hair a natural color like brown/red-ish brown is still ok.
It gets a little confusing in anime because some characters seem to have natural blonde hair (Yachi, Tsukishima) while others have dyed (Tanaka in the past, Coach Ukai(?), Kenma)
The person at 3:55 is Ennoshita, the person at 33:49 is Narita who has darker colored hair compared to Tanaka, and then there's also Kinoshita who has short, spiky light brown hair.
They're the second-years who haven't gotten a lot - if any screentime yet, but as the seasons go on they each get their own moment and just more presence overall!
The voice narrating the quiz questions isn't anyone from the volleyball team, it's just a voice actor who specifically narrates the questions
These first few episodes don't contain a lot of volleyball as they focus more on academics and out of court stuff, but they're definitely worth to sit through :)
The episode title is a play on Japanese names and symbolism.
Hinata's name is roughly translated as "Place in the Sun". He's frequently the focal character of scenes in order to showcase what's amazing about volleyball. He's also the one who brings other characters around to loving the game through his natural charm. Hitoka's name is "Compassionate Flower", which is where the comment that she feels like she'd been left out in the sun after being around Hinata for so long. She finds Hinata incredible because of his courageous spirit, but also intimidating because that kind of unstoppable go-getter attitude is suppressed in Japanese society. Even as early as middle/high school settings, places like Shiratorizawa Academy exist that promote ideologies like build upon strengths while abandoning weakness. This episode is following up on the idea that even in a place like Karasuno, or as Hinata calls it "from the concrete," people can grow.
badassoverlordzetta I actually never knew this. Nice comment!
its really helpful thank you
ugh perfectly said 😩
I agree with you coach. While Ushijima, is confident in his abilities almost but not quite to the point of arrogance, I don’t think he says things just to be a jerk. He’s just very frank with everything he says.
Check the TV tropes page on Haikyuu's characters, especially Ushijima's.
Ushijima is everything but a jerk. He is a pure and straightforward boy who have no social notions. And like Kageyama, he is dumb as hell outside volleyball.
Ushijima has every right to be like that, because by hard work he has gained the title of the best in prefecture
Coach you might be confused about the other members of karasuno. The second years that are benched are Narita, who is also the shaved looking guy, the guy who has this kind of similar hair to daichi, Ennoshita. And the other brownish guy is Kinoshita who is also off court.
Tsukki: *LAUGHS* "Ah, the sound of anguish"
He's really our evil salty megane😌
I love yachi and how there are so many different characters with different personalities.yachi and her anxiety and doom thoughts, asahis own nerveousness and anxiety, kenmas reclusiveness and what an introvert he is, oikawas inferiority complex to ushiwaka and esprcially kageyama, hinatas adhd coding, kageyama being autistic coded.
So many amazing different kids and personalities. And coach donny grasps them so quickly and knows what they are about.
I LOVE IT
And I love how accepting all the students, parents and teachers are. Like there is never any bullying or "why aren't you like the other kids". Just celebration if the students listen in class. Even teachers who care about academics leaves the decision up to the students in the end. I love how Haikyuu shows there is a place for everyone.
I once thought that even if it wasn’t showed or stated, Kageyama could be interpreted as autistic. But when you read the manga (especially chapter 387) his personality makes sense, and you understand that it is just due to a particular education and a big trauma
Adore the way they handled the introduction of Yachi and how slowly they're easing us into all the epic stuff from the season! Also really love the whole emphasis of studies VS club activities, both in regards to dumbass first-years and about-to-graduate third-years, because with a bunch of shows it somehow feels as if characters' lives revolve around club activities x)
Ennoshita is one of the second-years, and the guy whose receive you were talking about is Narita, also a second-year!
Now you officialy met Yachi !! A funny and cool thing is that in the opening, the dynamic scene with the ball and all the karasuno member is through the eyes of Yachi. Because she doesn't know volley ball she watchs the ball and not the players.
I really like the "Don't forget about the feeling of losing, but you don't have to cling on it".
I think the “from the concrete” and “fertile soil” metaphors are about class, not necessarily athletic ability. Shiritorizawa is a massive powerhouse school with funding, as shown by the campus, buses, and houses. Karasuno is a random school in the mountains that has trouble funding and training. Before the events of Haikyuu!, they didn’t even have a coach. The difference that money can make in high school volleyball is huge, especially from public school to private. Ushiwaka says the best players should go to Shiritorizawa just cuz he honestly knows they will have the best shot. Of course, that doesn’t matter in the end if you train correctly and Karasuno is proof of that.
*horses
No, it was about athletic ability. Otherwise, Ushiwaka wouldn’t have talked about good setters being farmers tilling the fertile soil (the abilities of their teammates)
@@Warriorette12 it could be a little bit of both... maybe
He was saying that in regards to the ability of Oikawa's teammates. Oikawa (the master farmer) has the ability to maximize the crop of any plot of land that he is on, but the players of Aoba Josai are like infertile soil. No matter how good Oikawa is, he can't create "splendid fruit" out of mediocre land. If Oikawa had gone to Shiratorizawa then he would have been able to reach his full potential. This is what Hinata took offense too, from Ushiwaka's POV, everyone other than Oikawa is bad, from Hinata's POV everyone at Aoba Josai is amazing. So Hinata is like, if you think they're infertile soil then you must think we're concrete.
The player who does the dig at 34:00 is named Narita, a second-year. There are five second-years on Karasuno's roster. Two of them are Tanaka and Nishinoya, and the other three are bench players. They will slowly become more relevant over time, although right now they're basically just extras. The easiest way to tell them apart is their numbers and hairstyles.
Their names are:
Ennoshita, #6 on the team, with slick black hair
Kinoshita, #7 on the team, with spiky light brown hair
Narita, #8 on the team, with a buzz cut like Tanaka, although his hair is darker and he doesn't have the little V shape sticking out into his forehead.
Tanakas Sister is the best big sis!!!
And honestly one of the most hilarious characters ❤️❤️❤️
26:00
In our country, losing a pen would mean you can't write notes. Without notes, you will fail the exams. If you fail the exams you won't graduate. If you didn't graduate, then you won't find a job. Without job, you won't have money. And without money, you can't buy food. And without food, you will die.
So as an advice, "DON'T LOSE YOUR PEN"
Lol same
I love how the Haikyuu fandom has adopted Coach lol
Yachi’s initial reason for joining as a manager is that she was taken by Shimizu’s beauty and couldn’t turn her down even when the boys scared the crap out of her. It’s really cute that she just likes to hang out around pretty girls.
....relatable 😗
In regards to the name of the episode, "Direct Sunlight", Hinata is roughly translated to "in the sun" (roughly I think). So by interacting with him, Yachi says she feels like she's been in direct sunlight for a long time, and I think it kinda is about the energy that Hinata gives off. Little fun fact, tsukishimas name means "moon island". Which is kinda cool since hinata is the sun and he's the moon and they share the same position. Read into that what you will

Ennoshita is a second year. He played in the practice match against Aoba Johsai (Seijoh) before Nishinoya and Asahi appeared. He, Narita, and Kinoshita are the 3 that quit for a time and came back (mentioned back in Season 1).
At the 34 minute mark, pretty sure the one receiving the spike is Narita..
Yeah, there's actually a way to tell apart Narita and Tanaka pretty easily. Narita has dark brown hair, while Tanaka has grey hair, and Narita neither has a widow's peak nor those little "cuts" on the sides

@@Ai-yahUdingus Well, let's wait till after season 2 with that.
I like the story of how Yachi get into the club and finally become a member of this family, it tells a sideline that even someone who does not play volleyball can be influenced by its spirit and get motivated. I got emotional when the story continues, and look forward to Coach's reaction to it.

I was one of those people, without interests or passions in high school. Now I am 27 struggling with my masters degree (which i dont feel passionate about) and I still have no idea what to do with my life. I was always envious of people who are passionate about something.
Coach: *sees a shaved head
That"s tanaka
Also sees a blond girl : Is that Sailor Moon ?
I really like how haikyuu takes an episode or two after every action arc to cool off and focus on the story outside matches which keeps it refreshing.
I think that the quality that allows Hinata to befriend/communicate easily with others is his childlish innocence. Children usually don't judge others by their looks, instead they're just excited to meet someone new and curious about what the person is like
At first I was sad that he stopped the double haikyuu videos per week, but I can wait a few more days for the best content on youtube
That’s the spirit.
No worries about memorizing the characters' names cos i personally only mastered em all after the s2 lmao
Loved your appreciation for Hinata. You are exactly on point, its not just his energy, he is one of those unusually good natured person that respect other people as individuals. I think on some level anxious people like Yachi and Kenma understand this, the fact that he won't take their accidental mistakes etc to heart.
Coach, just wanna let you know, I've been following your jump serve tutorials, the running approach to increase vertical and some of your vertical exercises. Been ard 2 months since I've started following your tips, I increased my vertical by 5-6 inches. I'm at 42 now. It's hard being a ambidextrous but I got used to approaching on the left side even though my left is more dominant, so when serving i use my right, I've been practicing the left handed approach, watched the tutorial you did a year ago.
I've been training constantly for a year ever since the Pandemic, I promised to go back in the National Tournament at my last year on high school and I'm well prepared, just hoping that this Pandemic stops so everyone can breath the air without masks, see the Roads and people without the face shields and so we can have back the Physical Competitions that we had back then.
42 inch vertical!!??! Bro that’s amazing wooooow. Good job
Can we talk about Coach’s eyes as he watches?! He looks so amused and entertained. I love it. It’s the look everyone should have when they watch Haikyuu. I love his informative reactions as well!
In the official data, Kageyama had a 5/5 for brain but with special remarks:"only for volleyball"😂
I thought Kageyama is a student with nice grade too! His look is just sooo deceiving you know. So I was totally shocked when I realized he didn't get into Shiratorizawa simply because he is an idiot other than volleyball.
He thinks that south hemisphere people live upside down !! (Ushijima too)
Fun fact:

sorry but the "concrete" line were misinterpreted, ushokawa was not talking just about "inate gifts" he was critizing the enviroment itself, the lacking of infraestructure, budget, a experienced especialized coach (ukai had never coach before), the lack of criteria to select players for the club, what he was saying is that in his belief clubs without every aspect of then optimized to develop the most efficient volleyball possible arent even worth to be noticed, this is why hinata got so upset, ushikawa basically said that all the passion of the ukai coach, karasuno seniors, shimada sensei, that all their efforts will be fruitless... this is what struck a nerve for hinata, more even than kageyma, because hinata knows much more what is like killing lions just to play some volleyball
this is why he declared war with the line "please to meet you, im hinata from the concrete"
theres a line in a really famous song in brazil that is like "even in the garbage dump flowers bloom" talking about how passionate people will bloom in any enviroment
OOhhh.....That's a very detailed explanation. Hope the coach sees this.
It could also be about abilities though, no? Because he says that Seijoh has infertile soil, even though Seijoh is an elite school and has far more resources than most other schools (aside from perhaps Shiratorizawa.) Ushiwaka also calls the players of Seijoh weak, aside from Oikawa. Like why would he call say Seijoh has infertile soil when Seijoh is a powerhouse and is incredibly well-funded? That just doesn’t make sense to me, I guess. And Ushiwaka ven references how like advice or words from Karasuno are meaningless to him essentially since they were unable to beat Aoba Johsai and stay in the tournament. (I mean that’s not exactly what he says, it’s incredibly paraphrased. But that’s pretty much what he said/meant.)
I don’t think it’s an either or situation. I think Ushiwaka could be referring to the differences in schools and resources, and at the same time can also be referencing the differences in abilities and natural talent. Because that’s pretty much what the whole conversation leading up to the concrete line alluded to anyways was talent and ability.
@@haleyclark990
You provided good points against my argument, so i will take then because i really love talking about haikyuu!! ahahhaha this is just my view:
1) "It could also be about abilities though, no? Because he says that Seijoh has infertile soil, even though Seijoh is an elite school and has far more resources than most other schools (aside from perhaps Shiratorizawa.)"
Yes, he said Seijoh is a infertile soil an avarege funded sports departament of a school, with poorly selected players, but Seijoh isnt an elite school, elite schools in Haikyuu are schools with tradition in competing the Nationals, Seijoh is a good school with a good volleyball program in the Myagi prefecture, but far from an elite school.
2) Ushiwaka also calls the players of Seijoh weak, aside from Oikawa. Like why would he call say Seijoh has infertile soil when Seijoh is a powerhouse and is incredibly well-funded?
Seijoh is not a powerhouse school and isnt incredibly well-funded, Seijoh have a razoabily well funded volleyball program with good ratings in the prefecture, which is a rural prefecture. this is my point, Ushikawa said that Seijoh because of these parameters are soil, but infertile, which pissed hinata with him coming with the line "wait, if seijoh is infertile soil, we are concrete?"
My interpretation comes from the fact that everything in a fiction work, even more in manga, and animation are deliberated, the author took too much time showing the contrast in equipament, infraestructure between shiratorizawa institute and Karasuno, and this conversation took directly after that
in my interpretation that i firmly believe was that conflict the author wanted present was Shiratorizawa ( enviroment + talent = fruits/volleyball ) vs (Sheer passion + team work = fruits/volleyball)
@@haleyclark990 But in summary i started saying that Ushikawa was not saying JUST about gifts, but enviroment too, coach interpreted as he was talking JUST, exclusively talking about gifts you know?
@@rafaelcomfsemph It’s always nice to find someone to talk about Haikyuu with, haha.
Yeah, that’s a fair point Seijoh may not be incredibly well funded when compared to Shiratorizawa, but if compared to Karasuno I think it comes across that way that they are better funded. Also, in reference to Seijoh being a powerhouse, maybe they aren’t monetarily, but they are in volleyball - based on the team’s results. At least that’s the impression I’ve got, and I think in some of the episodes Seijoh has been referred to as a powerhouse.
But, yeah, I’d say I don’t think Ushiwaka was talking purely about gifts. I think because of who Ushijima is, that could he could also be referencing natural talent, but I don’t think that was entirely his focus. I guess in my brain it makes sense that he’s referencing both gifts and the infrastructure, given that earlier we see Ushijima in the magazine representing Japan’s under-19s (and have knowledge that Shiratorizawa consistently has gone to nationals) and like you said, given that there is a contrast set up between Karasuno and Shiratorizawa.
I had never even actually considered the part about Ushiwaka talking about the differences in funding for the schools and resources, until I saw your comment, because I had taken it much more literally with talking about gifts (especially since they previously talked about Oikawa and how he should have come to Shiratorizawa.) This has me feeling like I should rewatch Haikyuu again, lol.
22:30 "Asahi the drug dealer" 😂😂😂
The guy with the shaved head that you analyzed the digging technique for is actually Narita and not Tanaka. Karasuno has three second year students on the volleyball team that aren’t really mentioned as much (they’re basically just benchwarmers):
#6 Ennoshita, Chikara; Wing Spiker.
#7 Kinoshita, Hisashi; Wing Spiker.
#8 Narita, Kazuhito; Middle Blocker.
They are most often shown in scrimmages and training scenes, and are also seen cheering from the bench during games. Occasionally they with play in games like in Karasuno’s first practice match with Seijoh where Ennoshita was a starter.
Dont feel bad coach if you can't remember every single name. I love this anime and have been watching it since the beginning and I can't remember everyone lol
It took me some time to remember them all, especially since I had names from other series in mind!
Coach i don't think that you should watch the second ova, meaning it's not necessary like Lev's ova, but if you do watch it only after episode 4
Since coach loves Tanaka, I think he might want to see the OVA but it really depends on him so thats that. and also yes pls. people replied that watching it after watching episode 3 but I think its not a good idea since it spoils on the four idiot's test results and might make coach confused on such things so I really think watching it after ep 4 is more good. Tho episode 4 spoils you on some new characters, I think its better than getting spoiled on who passed and who failed or such.
Me liking so it gets higher in comments and hopefully he sees it so he isn’t too confused.
Ennoshita is a second year! He was one of the players who ran away when old coach Ukai returned. You actually met them before don't worry the author will reintroduce them to you later. I'm glad you noticed him them though make a mental note for later 😊.
I don't think it has been mentioned yet that he was one of those players so it is a spoiler
@@girlinthewoods2059 they mentioned it in the episode where Karasuno gets their uniforms in season 1. Hinata asked Ennoshita what he meant by “second years who ran away” and Enno explained how all 3 of them left because the club went from a fun team to a team all about winning. Coach Donny mentioned how it’s good that Haikyuu talks about different kinds of players, even players who just wanted to play casually.
@@seekittycat Ah sorry I didn't remember. My bad
The fandom refers to Hinata as a ball of Sunshine. He just makes it so easy for people to open up to him.
I’ve been lurking and watching all your reaction videos to Haikyuu. I highly appreciate the way you do your reactions and explaining the volleyball aspects and also not skipping over the non volleyball parts, plus it’s refreshing to hear your thought process while watching it too. I’m always looking forward to seeing the notifications that you posted a new video.
Honestly, that whole scene with tanaka, noya, hinata and kageyama panicking because of their grades is my favourite
I like this, Coach not only gives Haikyuu! reactions, volleyball insights and instructions, but als he’s giving life skills.
“Can’t tell if she’s nervous or enamored with what’s going on.”
Why not both?
2 DAYS EARLIER! THANK YOU COACH! Honestly your reactions are the one I will fully watch you give so much information for different things which sometimes can't be realised.
Fun fact! The voice actor for Yachi was actually in high school when she got cast for her role, so she was the only one who was authentically a high schooler when she started recording. Maybe I’m biased, but I always felt her character was more real because of that, and she’s a lowkey favorite of mine. She’s the classic character who stands in place of the audience who on average are new to the world of volleyball, but still with her own identity.
I love how the coach reacts. he's not only reacting and teaching about sports and volleyball but almost every single thing that happens or included in haikyuu!. love ur vids coach. keep it up!
Yachi is nervous because she can feel the passion for something on the team, which she never felt. She doesn't know what it's like to be so passionate about something and she is just intimidated by it, hence why she seems like she's nervous by the end. Also from what i know, most Japanese high school girls are quite timid, so Yachi having so many bigger guys around is not the most comfortable.
"Failing to plan is planning to fail"
That is some straight truth right there.
Coach's talk about how to still get good grades while being in a sport hit hard. I'm not a student athlete but I'm working part time and attending college full-time and on top of that have a million other responsibilities.
You got this~!
Kinda funny that Hinata's worst subject is actually English, but his Voice Actor Murase Ayumu is fluent in English. He was even born in Los Angeles, California and Daichi's Actor was also born in San Francisco, California.
*"You cannot freestyle success."*
Thank you so much coach for reminding us about how important discipline is in every part of life :)
Shimizu is such a lovely person, there is never any malice or anything its all just support and its so wholesome
The OVA for season 2 actually happens between episodes 2-4, because it does have a spoiler for the Tokyo Games, it would be better if you watch it after episode 4.
Regarding Yachi helping Hinata & Kageyama study, she wasn't filling in any homework answers or anything to help them cheat, but she was showing them how to organize their notes so that it would make studying/absorbing the material easer. The line where she says "If you leave a space here, it'll be easier to fill in later" is probably a style where she shows them how to create their own notes/study guide that help them review. Example, write the definition of a word, but leave a blank space so later you can fill in the blank with the correct word etc. Only good habits and good vibes in Haikyu, so no worries coach. Tsukki will learn eventually, but at least he started by agreeing to help them study even if it was for a little bit so some progress is better than none haha
4:39 Fun fact: in the German version Coach Ukai says to Hinata: "If I would be a part of the cort, I woud be the pole".... In German Pole means Pfosten and Vollpfosten (full pole) is another word for idiot.
It's 10:10 PM here in Philippines and I am still doing my modules while watching bc my hands hurt on math my last module hopefully and I need something to keep me awake and give my energy back ❤❣💛💗
i never noticed this before, but kiyoko deserves love for casually deflecting the ball without even looking AND while keeping up an entire conversation. 33:06 what a queen
I feel like Yachi is the perfect outside character to be introduced to the bois, she's trying something that she's never interacted with before, but at the same time she's asking questions. She may be a nervous ball of sunshine, but I love it that they show her nervousness rather than have her trying to show off a stoic personality.
mans so dedicated he uploaded two days prior appreciated coach. Now get some rest sensei!
It's similar to me I only recently started learning about human anatomy and perspective because I need it to understand how to create characters and making them move in an environment. And because it's something I like doing it doesn't feel like work.
I am here to protect Tsukishima as always!! In fairness, he is already helping Hinata and Kageyama before AND after school even though he doesn’t get along with them. He needs his own down time as well. 😢
I think Tsukishima is very funny but his attitude sometimes is very despicable especially toward Kageyama. I am not over on how he treated him in the beginning. Without that I think he would be one of my favorites.
@@maouimaisnon2535 fair reasoning! I don’t see it as a big deal because I don’t view Kageyama as a victim. Also, bear in mind Tsukki’s disdain for “elites” in particular stems from the S2 revelation. It’s a defence mechanism. Not giving an excuse but at least helps us realise why he is the way he is.
I consider myself to generally be very polite and I wouldn’t typically say half the things Tsukki does but I can relate to him a lot so I am inclined to sympathise with his behaviour, even without the S2 knowledge. Re the particular scenario in this episode, I think it’s perfectly reasonable for him to decline helping them even though I am definitely the type who would feel guilted in giving up all my time.
@@livetogetrad i understand Tsukki has his reasons but when you see it from Kageyama’s pov he is really a victim. He’s freshly out from a middle school which was like hell for him, and he came to Karasuno (far from his home) thinking that nobody knew who he was and thinking he could start from zero. His wounds are fresh and he steps upon Tsukishima who brings back his dark past and demons to him again. Like if the nightmare would never end. Kageyama did nothing to Tsukishima, he had no right to treat him like that. Kageyama’s story is painful, and Tsukishima just twist the knife in the wound. Kageyama is reeeally fragile psychologically. Tsukishima was angry (more like disappointed) against his brother. Kageyama has nothing to do with that, he suffered enough.
@@maouimaisnon2535 Trying not to spoil for others but I don’t think Tsukishima is angry at Akiteru. He’s angry at “elite” players who, to him, caused everything.
Also, Kageyama’s wounds may have been fresh but he was not starting from zero. When they meet Tsukki and Yama, he still hadn’t given his ego a check. I think this encounter helped bring him down to Earth.
Also, when I say Kageyama isn’t a victim, I mean that he doesn’t see himself as one. I think he also saw that encounter as a bit of a reality check, regardless of how harsh Tsukki was.
@@livetogetrad I think he didn’t need such a hard « check » in the sense where he wasn’t really egoist. He just can’t manage to put his faith into others, because everytime he did he got abandoned. This way of relying only on himself is the way he found to not get attached to others and not get hurt. It can appear as arrogant and egoist but it is not that. He’s not at all full of himself. Yeah he’s wrong with wanting to do everything by himself because volleyball is a team sport, but this wasn’t the way to tell him. If Hinata wasn’t there things would really have gone south with Kageyama, because Tsukishima was really mean with him, in the sense where he had done nothing directly to him.
When I say he starts from zero, it’s because he went to Karasuno where nobody knew his bad reputation, and he thought he could become someone knew. I don’t know if you read the manga but if you don’t go back and don’t read what comes.
When he was in third year of middle school, Kageyama lost his grandfather, the only paternal figure to him. That’s why he became « the King ». Kageyama really did spent all his life passively ENDURING what was happening to him (Oikawa’s harshness, other children’s contempt, his grandfather’s decease) without saying a word. Everything made him very vulnerable psychologically and that’s what made him burst and act in a wrong way. But he KNOWS he did wrong in middle school (even though Kindaichi and Kunimi did wrong too). Tsukishima isnt even involved in all this. But he roasts him without even knowing what Kageyama went and is still through. Mourn. That’s mean in the sense where as I said Kageyama hurt nobody on purpose, and even less Tsukishima who he doesn’t even know. Kageyama isn’t part of Tsukishima’s past. So Tsukishima has no right to treat him like that. That’s why I take Kageyama’s side, even though everything he did wasn’t always right.
Because life wasn’t kind with him and he suffers enough like that.
Tsukki: "Ah, the sound of anguish!" HAHAHAHAHA😂 sounded like a true villain (and is also so fitting for someone like him).
Can already tell this is going to be a banger of a vid. Keep it up. :)
Ennoshita (the one helping Tanaka and Nishinoya) is one of the three second graders that are in tanaka's house. They don't have much screen time but they told us their story before. Basically they quit of the club because the training was hard for them but they rejoined because they feel somehow empty without playing Volleyball. Now they are giving their best trying to be more skilful and useful for the team 'cause they realizes that they really want to play. (Sorry if I' m not that good in english, I'm from Mexico ^^ʼ)
Ps: The bald player with that digging technique was Narita one of this second graders.
Tsukki is an introvert, so I'm not surprised he needs time to decompress. It's not that he's trying to be rude, it's that he needs time for himself and prepare for the high energy environment that is the club.
I'm an introvert, so I understand completely where he's coming from. There are times where my friends will ask for help, and because I know I'm not in the best mental place, because either I'm super stress or overstimulated, I will tell them to leave me alone. So, please don't judge Tsukki too harshly for turning them away or the way he worded it, he's just a very blunt personality and an introvert.
Yachi is 15 (as of 2012) and her voice actor (Who's Emma from Promised Neverland) was also 15 when she was casted as Yachi.
From the concrete was referring to the team of karasuno. Ushiwaka (unsure if I spelled that right) said that aoba johsai was infertile soil so Hinata said that he who came from a worse team would come and defeat him
hinayana lol
I just want to say that the Haikyuu fandom on coach' community is amazing. I'm just proud I'm in this fam HAHAHAHAH
Hinata is literally the sun, a ray of sunshine. His name also means that
It's hard to not get along with such a joyous person like him.
To prevent further confusion later if you see this Coach. Ushiwaka is a nickname, his name is Wakatoshi Ushijima. So Ushi and Waka. The name Ushiwaka comes from a historical/mythical Japanese figure known for having done a great jumping feat... And dying due to being betrayed by his brother.
The character who dug the ball you commented on during the scrimmage with the shaved head was actually a player named Narita, a second-year who usually sits the bench much like Ennoshita who we saw earlier in the episode. Ennoshita, Narita, and another bench-sitter second-year will all get their chance to shine, as Haikyuu does a great job of getting to know every single character, no matter how much time they get on screen.
Couch i believe after all 4 - 5 seasons you could read manga from where season 4-5 ends. The ending of haikyuu is prety hall of fame type thing, got me melted
When he said:"are you willing to work off the court on your grades, your NUTRITION" I was eating chocolate 😔
man I really love Coach Donny's way of providing advice (for volleyball, academics, and life in general) throughout his Haikyuu reaction series! keep up the good work!! we're here for you!

As for homelessness - in Poland in late 80s and 90s, when I was attending school, the worst thing to be told was: you will be sweeping streets. It was like an ultimate curse. You don't study - you end up sweeping streets. Nothing in between. XD
Yachi is actually just currently being dragged around and is unsure if she wants to join the club as a manager. I think you missed the part where she was distracted while Shimizu was asking her to join as a manager, and said "yes" more out of instinct than agreement.
I loved how you talked about Hinata's personality and how he always makes people feel welcome close to him and how you said that is who you try to be because that's exactly the type of person I also wanna be in life, I think people like these are the best.
That whole talk about asian parents is sooooo relatable
The woman who crashed their studying was Tanaka's sister, Saeko
