@@ElevateYourselfOfficial its what we need sir. 👍👍😀
Yes... Not like other RUclipsrs. Others just over react to all the plays.
It's far and above the best reaction series on RUclips. It's the only one I'll watch at 1x speed without skipping anything.

38:28 The "Hi" in Hinata and the "Hi" in Asahi are the same. They mean sun. Hinata means "sunny place" and Asahi means "morning sun".
great point! Can't believe I missed Asahi's name:/
I never knew that that's so awesome
Really??? The sunrise thing now makes perfect sense for Asahi!
Also "Nishi" in nishinoya means west.

Its west, depicting how opposite Nishinoya and Asahi are.
Coincidence? I think not.
@@akashsaxena3267 want to get a way better explanation? Azumane Asahi means "the morning sun which rises from the eastern peak", Nishinoya Yuu means "the evening sun that sets in the western valley".

coach being more surprised over kageyama's smile than his back court toss lmao
Can't really say I don't understand
( ´◡‿ゝ◡`) he's a man of culture as well
Yeah, you're right
The one thing i like about coach is that he keeps in mind some suspension of disbelief. Like for that insane kageyama set, instead of whining about how realistic/possible it is for a high school setter, he just acknowleges the difficulty of the play and even gives an example of it in real life.
Yup he has the experience to understand that this is an anime and just picks up what he can from it. Perfect reactor. Like the sets in this show has a spinning ball which isn't correct but it looks cool AF.
@@seekittycat some sets can spin, i think
Yeah especially since they established early on that Kageyama is a different breed. That’s why k-pop doesn’t like him. Kpop may be better but kageyama is progress way faster and can pull off stuff that he can’t
@@yamikamui spoiler reply:
The improved set that tobio learns in season 2 is a real set (though not as extreme as the show makes it seem) I can't seem to find an example of it online but I remember my middle school; gym couch talk about it when they where teaching the sport to us. The way it works is you toss it with a back spin and that spin kills the balls momentum a lot sooner then normal and gives the illusion of hanging in the air.
I can’t wait to get to further seasons, when one specific impossible set comes into play.

The "no eyebrows" blocker is called Aone! I love his character, specially how he can convey so much personality and emotion even though he doesn't talk most of the time
And even though he has no eyebrows 😂
I remember animators for animal series/movies talking about how they often end up giving animals eyebrows that naturally don't have them, because they are such a big part of human facial expressions so to properly convey emotion, they need the eyebrows to be able to.
The fact that hinata isn't recognized or rumored by his athletic skills even during his junior high is a very ninja way to present.

It’s interesting that you don’t mind all the cuts to the stands/bench. A lot of people, especially those who aren’t used to anime, would say that slows the pace down and just want to see non-stop action. Personally, I think Haikyuu is great at offering insight in those scenes and it adds to the story overall. Also, I know it’s a necessary break for the animators(I’m sure coach Donny is aware of that as well and it factors into his patience). Great reaction Coach!

I felt the same way about Oikawa and Tsukishima when they first appeared, so I'm excited to see how you react to their development throughout the story.
Honestly I hated Oikawa. From the bottom of my heart I hated him :"D To me he was this typical antagonist - beautiful, good with girls and so fucking good at sports and shool. At some point he even scared me. But while the show went on this turns aroundm. Today I think hes one of the intresting characters in Haikyuu and after Hinata, hes my favorite.
Lmao this reminds me Tsukishima was the only character I hated so much at the beginning😂
One of the things I learned about Haikyuu is that you should always give the characters you don't find "likeable" a chance because more likely than not, you'll change your mind about them and just pretty much end up loving them as much as you love everybody else. 😆 Every character in Haikyuu has an endearing side to them.
@@fruhlingsfuchs8330 same oikawa is my favorite player not from karasuno. starting from that conversation after the first practice match when he gave genuine assessment and advice to karasuno players then admitting to iwa chan that kageyama is a genius, I realized this is a character who is not what he seems. he is deep and honest :)
same!! i really didnt like oikawa and tsukki at first because of their attitude in the first season, to the point that i would just roll my eyes whenever they talk but now it just became very attractive to me and now theyre one of my fave characters aaaaa
The day Coach Donny starts calling Oikawa by his actual name I will probably shed happy tears.
Definetly one of the greatest parts of Haikyu! is how every single team is iconic in their own way.
Karasuno faces opponents that spike well, block well, receive well, set well, etc. And they always find new and innovative ways to make every *set* different from the rest.
And all the players
SPOILER
And don't forget about Johzenji, which is basically unpredictability in itself. If Karasuno weren't so unpredictable itself, it would have been a lot tougher to win that
'And no eyebrows. That's the most important part" - Coach about middle blockers.
Yes :3
Coach Donny knows his priorities:D
Hey, if it works it works xD
When Furudate-sensei did their field research for the making of haikyuu, observing high school vb teams and their coaches, they said they could just learn about techniques from books, what they really wanted to learn was the mundane things these people do. What do they eat? What do they talk about in team meetings? Outside of team meetings? Maybe that's why there's so many details in haikyuu that's so relatable to real players!
This is basically the most informative, enjoyable, detailed, relatable, and well-composed reaction series of haikyuu in all youtube.

"Pudding" is the Japanese term for a caramel flan. They call Kenma "pudding-head" because his hair is dark on top and blonde at the sides: like the caramel topping and egg custard parts of a caramel flan.
and there I thought pudding is the international term for pudding
@@starryabigail2988 Man, "pudding" has so much baggage depending on who you talk to. In Great Britain, it's the general term for any dessert, but specifically means a kind of steamed pastry, while in America, it's more of a milk-based thickened confection, whereas if you add eggs (making what the Japanese call a pudding), it's called a custard in the U.S., but is known as a flan elsewhere.
Language is weird, man.
Coach Donny is calm, I like how he appreciates a good anime scene even tho it's somewhat exaggerated and sometimes not possible, love your reactions coach Donny 👍🏻

The thing I love about this show is you can fall in love with every team. The author just fills every person with so much personality.
Can't wait to hear coach Donny's thoughts on Tanaka's mental fortitude!
i definitely prefer the previous background music, it's more of a constant sound that doesn't interrupt anything and is a lot easier to dismiss.
I like the new one better since its something refreshing, and i did not like how the old one sounded.
@@Auriga499 would it be too much to ask if he could switch it up every few eps? I kind of like the change in background music.
I prefer the previous background music too. Sometimes I tend to just listen to the new background music cause it's too hyping and didn't hear what Coach said. Like XxX said, the previous one is easier to dismiss.

Details I always love about Aone: he's a second year like Futakuchi (brown hair guy), so the captain, spiky hair guy and the blond guy are his senpais. And he's super respectful with them, so when the captain asks him to stop Futakuchi and blond guy (Kamasaki) he grabs Futakuchi by the face while for his senpai he respectfully grabs his shoulder xD
You will see how long a set can feel while watching Haikyuu. LOL

I love the background music you have for this episode.
Same!
I love coach’s low key disdain for Captain K-pop.
haha yeah. what makes a great setter and a great captain are still 2 different things, shouldn't confuse the two, just saying.
Capt. K-pop tho. Coach, you gotta call him Capt. K-pop now. Please.
For the part about saying you instead of we, he wasn’t criticizing them, he was encouraging them. He was saying that *they* had blocked so many spikes. That’s why he was so emotional with joy when his underclassman said say we instead of you, because he’s telling him to acknowledge his own contributions to what makes the team great.
This is one of my favorite episodes of the series, and Asahi is also my favorite character. I was looking forward to getting to this episode!

I love that Donny pays attention to the halftime serving animations.
I dont know if other viewers already told coach donny about it but soon a new volleyball anime will start. The name of the new anime is "2.43 Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club" maybe he wants to react to that anime as well so I thought i should share it, have a nice day everyone!
Episode 6 of trying to show Coach Donny this!
Hey Coach, since you've been sharp in pointing out all the asics shoes in the anime you're probably wondering why they are not mentioning the brand, not even in a rip-off shape (like some animes will sometime have a WacDonald instead of McDonald's). So here is why!
You may have noticed that for examples the Karasuno jersey has a little foot-shaped logo with "ics" written below.
In japanese foot (足) is pronounced "ashi" which can be typed on a japanese keyboard by pressing the button A - S - I.
Which combined with the following letters ("ics") gives us:
"ASHI"-"ICS" or Asics
is it weird that I didn't notice the change in background music lol
I didn't notice either.
I love all the parallels you give to real life volleyball and would love more clips showing you or other professionals showcasing the Haikyuu plays!
Shaved head = team enforcer
Love it 😂
i cant wait to see the way he reacts to teams like Johzenji or players like Suna Tendou and Lev
I like when they show Aone eye when he blocks
One thing I love about Haikyuu is that there's never really a "bad guy." A lot of sports anime will try and drive home that the other team is some overly rigid team that doesn't believe in some certain aspect of team work or that spit on the dreams of others. But in Haikyuu, every team is just Karusuno with a few different personalities. Good people that want to win and put in the work to do so.
characters like tsukki are usually my favorites from a storytelling perspective because there's so much opportunity to see those kinds of characters grow and evolve. i always end up cheering for them to grow into something greater. shows/media that don't allow those growths are really shooting themselves in the foot.

Whenever coach says how Oikawa shouldn't be the captain I get so impatient haha I'm really curious what you'll think of him by
the end of this season, he's a very interesting character
I agree so much with your perspective at the end about how the perspectives and thoughts from so many different types of people from coaches, to players with different levels of motivation, to spectators is what really makes this series so special. I think the author does a great job making viewers connect with so many different characters and it is easy to overlook but that effort he puts in really makes the series stand out!

Probably the best Haikyuu Reaction out there. Because it's more than that. A different perspective is great for people who are not familiar with the whole Volleyball or any competitive sport atmosphere. Where someone might think these kids were overreacting and over-emotional, Coach Donny's analysis just sets everything down to earth and we understand Haikyuu a bit better every single time. Keep up these videos, coach.
One of my favorite parts of Haikyuu! is that they make (almost) all of the teams likable and you can't help but to root for them. Karasuno being the underdog in tournaments, Dateko's catchy cheer, Nekoma's teamwork, Aoba Johsai...being a good opponent. 24:18 I love hearing Coach's reaction to this quick. One of my faves in the 1st season. To me what was impressive about this play was everything Coach Donny said, plus the fact that the set had to be backwards with an upside down view from Kageyama's perspective. 🤯🤯🤯 He is a genius for real
And Kageyama is happiest when the team is doing well. Volleyball is his passion in life. So this is where you will see him smile the most 🥰😁
i really thank Coach Donny for these reactions. his explanations really made me appreciate the little details more, and also the hard work of the animators and illustrators are being emphasized. now, i am loving Haikyuu even more. thank you, Coach.
My P.E teacher says that she's your student! Were actually practicing volleyball right now too
Wow Eren you play volleyball??? :0
I guess it comes with being a coach but you have a great memory for player's playstyles and individual shots.
I like how you highlighted how Haikyuu! provides the perspective of not only the players but of the spectators, coaches, locals, etc. This is one of the reasons that I love Haikyuu! because it shows the importance that all of these groups have on the game and the playing environment, and furthermore, because Furudate-sensei uses these groups to illustrate important aspects of the game (which will only continue later). I'm also low-key jealous too. When I played volleyball, it was like pulling teeth to get anyone (even the parents of our players) to come to games. My mom was always there and always supportive of me and my younger sister, but I was often saddened when some of my teammates had no one to support them. It makes a difference when you know people support you.
What I like the most about Coach Donny besides him being calm and all these genuine reaction is that HE ALWAYS, ALWAYS, IN ALMOST EVERY EPISODE HE GOES NOTICES SOMETHING ABOUT THE ANIMATIONS THAT I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I WATCHED HAIKYUU. Just like here at 27:50, even just that random strand oh my gosh. Keep up the great work Coach! So much appreciation!

Coach Donny getting the chills, like we all do!! I knew Haikyuu could get him, it took it more episodes but he finally is on our side, he is one of us now!! Hope you continue with the rest of the anime :D
I like how Haikyuu in the early parts of the story says certain things that they use to describe the players' growth over the span of the series. Hinata's thirst for growth, love for volleyball, and strong positive competitive spirit for both teammates and opponents alike are the biggest reasons for why he improves so quickly over a short time span. The moments where he seems like he's performing a "fluke" will be moments where he goes through growth.
Also, the story does an interesting thing where the teams are represented by animals that are in the schools' names, and the teams have traits that you'd expect from those animals. Karasuno is an interesting team, because the first years are new and full of raw potential, and they have stable/reliable upperclassmen. Combined with the carnivorous trait that crows have and the fact that crows will even eat from trash - this embodies Karasuno's style of taking in anything they can get ahold of to become better players, even tactics they have learned from other teams.
Man, cant wait till he reacts to the current episodes, if he ever does. The whole current season is my favourite by far.
IKR!! the intensity between the teams and the way hinata shines is just chef's kiss. Ngl the twins fighting and suna recording it was the highlight of the season for me XD
I was about to sleep but the notifications says “no”
I dont know if anyone cares, but at the scene where Hinata is the decoy and opens a way up for Asahi to spike, the OST is called "Team Potential " and is one of my favorite ost from this anime. I dont only listen to it when I'm working out, but also when I do homework and etc. It just fills me up with determination, yaknow?
The music used in this episode is by far my favorite! It didn't feel the same with the other music. This feels iconic and fits you and your branding style very well!
