    I loved that he was confused as to why the red blood cell was lost, because there's actually an explanation to that.!
    Our particular red blood cell-chan has a fun little detail of the hair curl (cow lick) in her character design. It's actually a cute little clue that she's actually a sickle cell, which explains why she gets lost so easily.

    • @BrooklyKnight
      @BrooklyKnight 10 месяцев назад +143

      That's actually been proven to not be the case-the reason seems to be more that the naming on her hat suggests she has a trait that makes her less efficient at transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body.

    • @thephantom7578
      @thephantom7578 10 месяцев назад +96

      @@BrooklyKnight But sickle cells are inefficient in transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide as well?

    • @BrooklyKnight
      @BrooklyKnight 9 месяцев назад +85

      @@thephantom7578 Yes, that's correct as well. What I'm saying is that even though that is the case, she's not a sickle cell according to the creator. She just has a cowlick.

    • @RuchiwanChut-pg2hx
      @RuchiwanChut-pg2hx 9 месяцев назад +1

      The creator didn’t know what he was talking about, but thankfully the animators or some where in the creators subconscious, the hair clue made it into the design to clue the audience to what she really is.
      That way both the creator lame excuse “she just a normal inexperienced red blood cell” is satisfied but at the same time, the audience understands why she really is the way she is.

    • @chuckshirley1227
      @chuckshirley1227 8 месяцев назад

      No no, she's not a sickle cell. That cowlick(also known as 'id i ot' hair) is a rather popular anime trope. When a character has a cowlick, it means that he/she/they are an airhead, uh an absent-minded person, or (in humorous term) an id i ot. That's why she got lost a lot, because she's an airhead, not a sickle cell.
      I know that seems kinda mean to us westerners, but it is considered pretty humorous(in a benign way) in eastern media.
      Check TVTropes:Id i ot Hair for good explanation.
      EDIT: sorry about the spacing, RUclips is in their time of the month apparently.

    If you're looking at a blood smear (used to perform a CBC) then white blood cells>red cells>platelets. So the heights of the characters are actually proportional to their real sizes. Platelets come together to form large clots, but individually they are the smallest thing you see in blood normally:). This show has so many great nerd facts built in.

    The cancer episode (part 2) is ironic in this show's dub because the VA of our main White Blood Cell passed away from colon cancer, and the character talks to the cancer cell as it dies. That haunts me in my sleep, knowing he most likely was going through treatments while dubbing the show, and that he lost his war to something so tiny but massive.

      @@natashacheng1122 The other guy takes weeks or months in between Cells At Work commentary videos. It's relevant enough and rich enough in content that I think it's absolutely perfect for this kind of channel. Much more interesting than watching another "The patient is sick, so let's help them. Oh no, we made it worse! Oh wow, we had a dramatic breakthrough that made them all better!" (plus some "human drama" to make it more interesting for people who don't care about the scientific side of medicine) kind of shows.

      @@BettyMareeHOHCountry What if you are watching anime AND doing something else? Dubbed does save your life if you are slow at reading and have to pause to read every time a character speaks,doing something else, watching with a kid ( I know most animes are not for kids but this kinda counts as educational if you explain what and why something is happening)

      Eloise A Disney Nerd I personally disagree. With subtitles I’m less likely to be able to be actually watch the animation. I have to get through all the subtitles first and then look at what’s happening which when something has amazing animation is annoying. I’ll watch both at times and there are dubs that don’t really do it for me but more often than not watching the English dub is preferred for me. It’s easier to binge and I’m not sure where you’ve had mouth movement issues. Also on car trips reading makes me feel nauseous. 😅

    • @TsarDragon
      @TsarDragon 4 года назад +16

      @@BettyMareeHOHCountry While I will watch subbed. I do prefer dubbed as I'm a pretty slow reader and have to read things 2 or 3 times on occasion due to me reading it wrong the first time.
      One time in an online game someone said something about their marriage and I thought they said miscarriage. I'm sure there's a medical reason for that. But anyway, it makes watching subs harder cause I don't get to see the animation as much.

    Protip: "Bye bye germ" was a cheezy Japanese pun.
    The Japanese word for "bacteria" is "baikin," so White blood cell was saying "bye bye-kin." A good English localization might be "And don't come back-teria"
