I like Sty. Doesnt Pander to Blizz, talks shit about the companys decisions when it needs to be said, and doesnt say it for clout. Just tells you what he thinks, and has his finger on the pulse of the average OW player.
I prefer how things were back then. You buy a game and unlock cool modes and skins without paying more. I wonder if people rejected micro transactions back then like how nfts were frowned upon would they ever have existed. Yeah I know this is free still going to try it out without spending anything.
it was easy to get legendary skins back then in ow1 you didnt need to pay just grind level event gave free guaranteed random legendary etc. are you kidding me this f2p ibattlepass lock system is literally momthly payment or no skins also league of legends is a good example when they added lootboxes you can earn skins easily without paying at all and infact i stop spending rp because of it and you dont have to pay to get skins
You know I have heard blizzard fanboys claiming this is the best battlepass in gaming. 90% of games have better battlepasses because 1) They usually have 20 more tiers 2) They usually give a way for you to earn all your credits back 3) Most games don't have a character system like overwatch. If the character you play the most isn't in the battlepass then it is mostly worthless to you. Luckily for me I am a genji main but I probably still won't buy the battlepass as I don't play any of the other characters so I am basically buying the ability to grind to get one good skin
@@enzog1078 Microsoft is one of the most money hungry companies to exist. The only gaming company that got in legal trouble for purposely trying to cause a monopoly Microsoft dosent have any say in this y'all
These challenges really worry me. This means people will be playing the game to mark off a checklist. Where as, at least in comp, you should be playing to win the game
most of the challenges are pretty generic, stuff you should already be doing, and im sure if your farming the checklist qp or arcade are WAY easier to farm wins on, and takes significantly less time. i think it has potential to be risky, but i think most people would be smart enough to just grind out QP if they seriously want to mark off checklists.
@@Rayquaza894 don't play a healer in qp then...or just farm as a hero like moira. you dont HAVE to do comp to do these, in fact, comp is probably the worst place to grind, since you have to do two rounds, and at least qp doesn't stress you out as much.
I already miss the loot boxes. I personally liked them because I never felt compelled to buy them, but you could still earn the cosmetics for free. I do hope that holiday events have free battlepasses (similar to Halo) so that we can earn some of those skins just by playing but that may be too much to ask from Blizzard...
Unless you have a ton of time to pour into leveling and maxing out the arcade, no, it wasn't easy to earn every skin we wanted lol They stopped letting the hard-core fans determine the economics and they're already seeing a return on it
@@c4rloscu00 thanks for sharing your opinion, have you said that to blizzard? Cuz I'm one of the people who actually took the time to fill out surveys, leave comments, and now I'm getting what I want which also seems to be in line with the majority 🤷🏾♂️
This was my biggest fear, nothing good in the battlepass and all the good stuff has to be purchased. On top of that they are clearly inflating prices and then "discounting" them to what the intended price actually is.
Discount prices are usually just there to incite you into buying as they don't actually put the the prices at the "original" price so I wouldn't be too worried about that part, the others though -_-
A "legendary" junkerqueen skin that's literally a fucking recolor of default is either 20 bucks or 1900 legacy coins when in ow1 it would've been 1000. Quality goes down, prices go up
I feel like the reason the first season is cyber punk and not lore is because this is the season they are hoping to attract new people. Making it something generic to not scare them away. Probably saving lore ones for when campaign drops
I think Blizzard is going to be slapped in the face with the realization that the nonsense people didn't care about like sprays was accepted when you got them free. The second you stick them in bundles you're forced to pay for, people are alot less forgiving and that's what half the battlepass is.
Fortnite has set a terrible trend with battle passes like how every game started having lootboxes a few years ago and before that some games required you to pay for an online pass so that preowned copies were useless. I wonder what the next trend will be
@@TyZ-ms5lu Don't even blame Fortnite because it has a far more generous Battle Pass than this shit. For one they actually let you earn back ALL of the Vbucks you spend on it, instead of just half. For seconds, the 'mythic' skin at the end of OW2's pass is essentially just style switching which the majority of Fortnite skins have and some have way WAY more customization than the Genji skin. Fortnite might have created the battle pass but other companies bastardized it by doing it wrong instead of just following the model Fortnite has been doing and improving on since day 1.
The skin prices are crazy. You can barely get 1 skin for 16 quid and you can't even see the skin most of the time because of 1st person view. Now comparing to League, you can get 2 skins for 20 quid and you have some RP leftover for a discounted skin. So thats potentially 3 skins for 20 quid, with new sound effects, filtered voice lines, new back animation and you always get to see the skin. I had the same issue with Apex skins, they charge ungodly amount for something that barely changes.
If they really wanted to make money they should let people apply the skins they own to the teammate and enemy models...ya know, so they CAN see the skins.
Fr, it would be good incentive for players to play through the season in hopes of getting those coins in the battle pass and doing the quests so that they have access to the next battle pass. Would make them play, which is a good thing for a game that needs to be revived
Honestly it's not that bad, there will be 3 passes every year, and you only need to spend $20 per year as you can get the third one for free assuming you keep up with weekly challenges
@@Kitsune16-r4h what games? The only game that comes to mind is Fortnite... Valorant,Halo,COD all don't let you earn back currency from the battle pass. Ow lets you get a bp for free by completing weekly challenges for 2 season meanwhile in games like apex, you would need to reach level 100 in the battlepass 4-5 times before you can get it for free. Ow's system is not great, but its not as bad as yall make it out to be
Literally what keeps me coming back to Fortnite and Apex, always have currency left over from the BP so I can just get the next one and so on. They better change this or I'm not buying their BP.
There definitely is that feeling of, "Well I don't want to spend money on characters I would barely use." I think the urge to collect just isn't as strong without lootboxes (with me anyway). It remains to be seen how they're going to handle events that pop up. With Junkenstein 2.0 what is a ratio of earning to spending money, that's what I'll be curious about.
I have the same feeling about this. I for example like Junkrat so I would be more willing to pay money to unlock stuff for a character I really like. In Overwatch 1 I enjoyed collecting everything even if I don´t use it that often because it was available but with this new concept I rather just collect what I´m going to use. There is a case of FOMO because we don´t know yet if the content of a season goes away forever after it ends or if it will be available in the shop at some time so you rather spend money to get it while you can.
@@kungdoejoe Putting content from finished season into the shop could be a win-win-situation because people could get these things seperatly while Blizzard would gain more money because people would purchase coins to get them. For example someone likes the legendary Pharah skin but is not interested in the other things and waits for the season to end to only get this one skin. Obviously the Mythic Skins wouldn´t be in the shop as they are the "big prize" for getting the premium BP. I cross my fingers that this will happen.
@@itsjustsaya1544 I don’t think any game should charge more than $10 for a skin, you can buy full on indie games like cuphead for $20, so why is a collection of pixels the same price
Unfortunately almost all other games are like this now so idk why the OW community seems to be in the dark about this, have yall never played literally any other current multilayer game out there atm LOL like skins in Valorant are absurdly priced, and getting an heirloom in Apex is expensive af or takes forever to get for free. and skin in fornite and apex cost about $20 as well for the high tier skins and no one complains like the OW community is rn
@@itsjustsaya1544 you'll notice how fortnite barely ever sells legendary skins anymore and has also made vbucks cheaper. This is because no one wanted to spend £20 for a skin. Now with the changes it is like £12
@@Selghoti because we previously could get all these cosmetics for free and now they are double the price and you can only purchase them with real money.
In retrospect, lootboxes were not so bad. The BattlePass system is so much more predatory and expensive; getting items and skins is complicated and hidden behind layers of exclusionary purchases and grinding.
I think the Battle Pass will have to change in time. Not being able to earn a new one from playing is different from almost every other game out there. I suspect there will be a swathe of players who buy the 1st BP, don't complete it, and then won't buy another one for months and months (if ever). I suspect this will be evident for Blizzard after a few months and they'll have to change the BP in order to keep engagement levels high.
Funny thing for me is that with the Loot Boxes and the events in OW1 I always felt like a completionist and wanted to unlock them all even for the characters I dont really play, so I would play because I could earn loot boxes by playing, and even sometimes would buy some loot boxes too. With this though I can't earn anything at all really or even currency to buy things in the store, and I would now probably just buy things for the characters I play most, which isn't a lot out of a roster of 35, and probably wont be available for those characters all too often. I think the BP model for OW hinders more than helps the game tbh because they can't produce the content for all characters to make everyone playing happy.
I agree. I actually spent over US$400 in Overwatch 1 so I can buy skins as a completionist. Overwatch is my most played video game of all time, but I still don't have time to play it that much. With Overwatch 2's system, I don't think I'll spend any money at all. Even buying Battle Passes when I can only put aside maybe 3 hours of game time per week seem like an expensive hobby.
Well, veteran players from OW1 were basically f***** in the ass, as they bought a product that allowed them to get skins etc. through leveling. Now you can't basically unlock anything or do it like x100 times slower. So you are left with buying currency or battle pass.
If anything I'm upset about the lack of communication prior to this and other similar vids. They told us they'd be transferred over but under the assumption they'd be worthless I spent a pretty large amount during the final anniversary events to grab every last thing I wanted so I didn't have to spend money come OW2. Now I have 15k~ less than I should have would they have said I could still purchase skins for the new characters at a fair enough price
Didn't even think about that until now. It only gets worse when you think about the possibility that they did this intentionally so more folks would find themselves having no legacy credits to spend instead of buying the BP Credits.
@@victorfrankenstein4409 They DID do it intentionally, they've been vague all this time on purpose in order to confuse people. Confused idiots with money will spend money without understanding, that's what they want.
The battle pass is so underwhelming, i knew it would have a ton of trash fillers but i still expected more than this, valorant and fortnite's battle passes are much better even the fillers tend to be okay/decent. Kiriko, Kiriko's skin, Mercy's skin and the mythic are the only decent rewards in the whole battle pass imo, the epic skins and even some of the legendaries are just bad, hope they step it up for the next battle passes, the legendary packs should include the hero as well.
Yeah, $10 for this (assuming you play it through) bruh. I don’t spend money on these sorts of thing almost ever, but why buy that little amount of stuff when I could skip two seasons and just buy a game on sale…or multiple ones depending on original price.
@@Dash3105 that's just straight up wrong, some of the battle pass skins are really good and you get a ton of them and the filler items are not as low effort as the ones in the Ov2 battlepass
@@dinooz1394 I agree with you that Valorant battlepass IS BETTER than OW2's but on average the items they give are still pretty mid. Some skins are heat though.
@@Dash3105 Knife alone is worth the money considering the prices of knives in Val. Also, some of the skins for the Vandal or Sheriff are pretty goated.
This isn't monetization at this point. The OW devs don't have any loyalty to players or fans, there's no community anymore. This is straight up PREDATORY... all we are now is cattle to be milked and fed on. I don't care if this is what other battle passes look like, most of us have always thought other games battle passes were shit and bad for gaming, and now we have to train ourselves to think this is all ok because Overwatch is doing it? Bullshit. It's not enough that you pay for the battlepass, you have to use more real world money in the store. But that's not enough, you have to watch people on twitch too. But that's not enough.. don't forget you also have to watch OWL all the time too. Have you figured out the five different currencies yet? We hope not, because we just want you to drop ANOTHER 20 bucks this week. This is all so fucked, and I shouldn't be surprised considering how the devs have treated us the past few years, so I guess sickened is the word. No wonder all of the devs that actually care about gaming have jumped ship over the last year or two. They don't want to be marked as the kind of scum that did this to a game we all loved.
Blizzard should put legacy currency in the battle pass that you can earn as well. That way people will still pay to get the bulk of the items but players still have that passive currency earning system that they are used to to get things.
Sty, I feel all of your "fines", "idks", and "whatevers" deep down in my bones, I totally get it. Also, I thought the mythic skin was supposed to have 100s of combinations...from my calculations there's only about 50...
Has an explanation been given as to why (most of) the OWL skin prices have been raised by 50%? Even the basic team skins used to be only 100. I didn't expect that to be one of the affected items, and I'm sad to say that it's really going to feed into that stigma of predatory practices.
This! Why is nobody mentioning that OWL skins cost more? When we get the vault open again will it be in ov 1 or 2? If 2 and the prices will be bigger that's just scummy
At those prices, I won't be touching anything from the store. Maybe that's a good thing afterall, was worried the store could be too tempting and I ender up spending too much, but now it's a easy nope for me as they went straight to the cash grab route.
If they kept the items the same as OW1 I feel like it would be pretty good. $10 for a legendary. 250 coins for a purple. Something like this would insentivise people to buy skins more often. How it is now I’m only going to get a skin if it’s the best skin I’ve seen in my life. I also probably wont get any new emotes, sprays, or voice lines because I would view them as a waste of money.
I already miss the Ow1 style I never felt forced to buy loot boxes and this is someone who I can admit I love gambling and I do it often but with overwatch I never had to I could get what I wanted just through leveling up. And now with a multi layered shop with 20 dollar skins here and there it’s unfortunate
Personally I really dont like this model of things but expected nothing less being free to play and all. Its a shame most cool things are hidden behind paywall with the up rise on the cost living these days. Most people wont be able to afford the cool stuff. :/
Can you not say the same thing about the loot box system? Is that not just a worse model? $20 for what you want vs. $20 for an attempt to get what you want, on top of the $60 you have to pay to own the game. Like I’m not saying making stuff not earnable is a good thing but at least I get what I want when I spend my money and not a skin for a character I don’t play.

WOW not being able to get the next battle pass by completing the current season is ridiculous. Every major FTP game right now gives you the potential to afford the next pass for free. They are really looking for a lot of money put in to this game which I’m very disappointed in
This is an incorrect statement most games that rely on battle passes and a cosmetic shop do not do this. Warframe is the only game I’ve played that this argument can be made for and the battle pass is free. Valorant is a major free to play title and does not do this. Neither does apex also a major free to play title
I appreciate you being critical of this new direction. Lots of other Tubers are either all in on this new model or just sort of doing cosmetic reviews and glossing over the cost entirely. Quite a bit of BS with what Blizzard is pulling in my opinion, maybe they'll get enough blowback to change the model a little (*at least* with new heroes) but I'm not holding my breath.
I think the biggest disappointment with the battle pass is that since the weekly challenges are the only way to get OW coins is through weekly challenges and not from the BP. You won't have enough to get it again for the next season, since every season last up to 9 weeks and if you complete it you'll earn up to 540 OW coins. Every game that has the Battlepass at least give you enough premium currently once you complete it so that you can buy it again, but not Overwatch apparently.
The only hope i have for the season pass is that Hearthstone's season pass had a similarly rough start, not giving enough gold to buy packs etc. But after enough outcry they gave players more in game money. Although theyve just done a 180 and introduced a new p2w currency, so there may be no hope
i cannot see me playing OW2 at all with this ridiculous system, the fun with OW1 was that you get rewarded with cosmetics/coins the more you play, with this system they will be giving you literal scraps no matter how much you play, unless you pay money. Also the fact that the prices for everything increased by 50% is just... wow. I just really hope they will revamp the coin system to be more rewarding and have other ways to earn them. If not, I can not see me playing this game anymore... what a big middle finger from blizzard.
I hope that you might be able to earn legacy credits from playing. If they’re feeling generous, they might do a 25 legacy credits for playing certain roles in quick play/competitive like in the first game. I just think it would be weird to have a currency that is only accessible by having a bunch saved up from the first game and then you can never earn it again. If that system is in place, it would really boost this game for me because it gives me more to grind for.
Something on the OWL skins is all have seen a stealth +50% price up without really justifying the price. In fact all of the currencies have seen a price increase (Epics to 1000 OW Credits, Commons to 300 OW Credits)
Strange Roadhog pose is a reference to his lore. It is believed that it was the Roadhog who sabotaged the omnium's fusion core in Australia, turning the mainland into a radioactive desert.
The imminent release of OW2 was what got me back in the game for the past month but man what a way to kill the hype. Edit: I’d take loot boxes over this garbage. What is the incentive to play for people that don’t want to spend??
26:00 Ow1 did this as well. Ashe for example has a victory pose which is exactly the same as her sit emote. Difference is most players probably never noticed/cared because victory poses are loot box filler in ow1 which are earned very quickly without paying
@@alexthebat-uy5be I think they mean you have to pay every 3 months to get skins you would have gotten for free through loot boxes and role queue quests.
What I'm really concerned about is how this is going to effect the PVE. Y'know, the part of the game everyone's actually paying for whether you own OW1 or not. The PVE definitely needs a progression model to unlock all this cosmetic stuff separate from the PVP model. Just like, make everything you unlock in PVE not unusable in PVP or something. It probably won't though, which is a shame because the PVE is the only part of the game I remotely care about at this point, considering it's what 99% of players will actually be purchasing, and it just seems gross that I would still have to pay to use a skin in the PVE side of the game I'm actually buying, when the model I'm throwing that money to was only created for the the PVP side...
This pass i can see being compared to something like fortnites pass a lot. Fortnite really does have a nice pass. Premium pass gives you quite a bit more vbucks then it takes to buy the pass (1500 in premium and 950 to buy bp) and the majority of the cosmetics you get are things you'd actually use. Being able to get 300 vbucks as free means that within a couple seasons, you just buy premium and then can maintain it
I think they'll learn as they go. They're adapting a lot of OW1 stuff. I agree it seems very confusing and unfinished at the moment, and I'm not excited by the prospect of anyone spending stupid amounts of money on cosmetics. The question is whether they'll listen to the community about unreasonable pricing, or just depend on the few willing to spend a lot.
They never listened about lootboxes until they literally threw away the first game. Just saying, don't get your hopes up. F2p games like Multivursus only are getting worse with their monetization as time goes on. I mean, it's 30 fucking dollarsfor a single Batman skin and they most recently made the grind even longer so they'll pay for exp boosters. And it's very very important to remember, these are the people that released Diablo Immortal earlier this year.
@@Miriam_J_ they actually did listen to us about a problem with lootboxes in ow1. Back in 2016 you were just as likely to get duplicates as you were to get new skins. They eventually listened to our complains and made it so that we only get dupes if we unlocked everything for that tier of rarity.
They won't listen. People will still buy the shit ass skins that they sell for 20 bucks or more. Why put effort into anything when u get paid regardless?
@@bagofbananas790 That was in 2016. This is 2022. We live in a post diablo immortal monetization era. Also so many emotes have left the company, it's not even remotely the same as it was back theb
As a completionist i think this is a logical point to stop playing. If I am unable to complete a battlepass I wont be able to get the items later and that will always bug me when playing, as getting back to 100% is impossible. The time I'd have to invest in completing every single battlepass is simply too much of a comittment.
your really going to stop playing a game cause you can't 100% it? That seems so strange to me as wouldn't a completionist like the challenge of a game being difficult to 100%, tbh why even 100% a multiplayer pvp game to begin with? There's no end to game like this, which is why most people only 100% story single player games not games like overwatch 2, fortnite, or apex legends.
@@sho.sinha_ Yes, I have spent a lot of time getting up to 100%, I dont think I have it in me to start over, and I know I would be immensely annoyed if I see people having skins I know I would never get my hands on, enough to no longer be motivated to play.

No way they made the OWL skins more expensive. They used to be 200 tokens and now they're 300?? Really blizz. They've even made the team skins more expensive, raising them from 100 to 150. What a joke
Both LA Gladiators and Seoul Dynasty got first place. For that tournament, the regions played separately, so LA won the NA tournament, and Seoul won the APAC tournament.
the problem with the battle pass is that most niche heroes (like roadhog) get litaral garbage the way most games fix this is by giving you enough premium currency to get the next one if you completly finish the pass this makes the game have a permanant playerbase no matter what and alot more people who'd buy the pass and maybe even levels for it idk why ow2 didnt do this because they convinced me to never buy a pass until a roadhog mythic comes out
The biggest complaint I have about the battle pass is the lack of premium currency. The #1 factor that separates battle passes from being anti consumer from being consumer friendly is the ability to get the next battle pass for free if you finish the current one. Really disappointing.
Oh, the Mythic skin is cool, but yeah I thought the customisation would be a bit more flexible, or at least have more options. The model variations are okay (maybe another sword model would be nice), but more freedom with the colours would make Mythics waaaaaay more appealing. My guess is they wanna retain some amount of control over the design, so that we don't get things like completely bright yellow Genji's that look horrible.
From a development perspective, it's probably "easier" to do baked models/textures rather than ones with fully dynamically customisation in the sense that they wouldn't need to build an entirely new system to accommodate any user inputted combination of skin options, but just build on top of what they already have and give multiple premade colour combinations. That said, I saw a comment floating about saying that if you pay 50 bucks you get a colour picker function, so maybe they already have it made and we just didn't see it here?
@@DragonEdge10 Yeah, maybe there's a technical reason for not much freedom with colours. That comment about the colour picker sounds like sarcasm to me though. 50 bucks just for that function?

this seems so weird because there's thousands of skins, sprays, voicelines, etc. and im never gonna spend my real money on stuff like voicelines. I'm also out of legacy credits so it feels almost impossible to get things that were super easy to get like rare skins or sprays. This feels horrible for collectors who have nothing to unlock after completing the battle pass.
Wow, That is so much worse than I was expecting. I expected season one to be the big "Look at all this cool stuff we can do now that we're charging for it directly!" especially with all the negativity surrounding the monetization switch instead we get an average battlepass with very little of note outside of the already revealed skins used to advertise it. While mythic skins are great in concept, I find the implementation lacking, I expected more personal customization, There's 2 swords with different models, why can't we pick one of each for example? The shop is so lacking I can't even say much about it outside of stuffing packs with the same thing but split in two is nonsense and they've already blurred the lines of what defines a skin tier, The Cass skin in the battlepass is so basic and then there's the Doom skin in the shop, Gee I can't possibly imagine why that's the case The use for legacy credits is nice at least, but it is going to annoy so many people that will forever have a few left over if you can't get more though, myself included And the *temporary* comp titles are just "Rank here" challenge? That's pathetic
The prices are crazy, everything is mediocre, league skins went from 200 to 300, weekly challenges are overkill compared to the exp + coins rewards. Its so depressing watching one of my favorite games fall apart like that.
there's some stuff im alright with, but i think blizzard is excessive when 1. there are so many different currencies that you have to keep track of 2. each level takes s o much xp to level up to (and it doesnt seem like the actual rewards are nicely spaced out either??) 3. my completionism wont be able to work, i grinded for years to get all of dvas stuff (all i rlly cared about, tho i tried to get some other heroes to near completion towards the end of ow1) and now ill either have to cash out an i n s a n e amount of money or play basically like a streamer, which, u h, does not work for ur average (even kinda dedicated, bcs i play multiple sessions every week) player
I feel like this is a huge part of the cynical move. Unless people break free of the sunken cost fallacy and leave Overwatch they will have to keep paying or grind a lot to play the game that has the heroes they love. I feel like Overwatch is gone for me.
@@Jimdigby I feel the same. This is just a blatant move to milk the masses for all they are worth. The skin prices are ridiculous, and half of them aren't even that good. I can imagine that after Kiriko, hero unlocks are going to be stupid expensive too. And it's not as though they weren't making money before either, they have the Blizzard store. I've spent $200 there over the past few years and know others that have spent a lot more. But as it stands now, I don't think I'll be giving Blizzard anymore of my money. They really don't give a rat's ass about their player base beyond what their wallets hold.
PS: They need to add third person mode that we could switch to. That would make people like skins more, currently you also get to see your weapon part of the skin and nothing else.
Thanks Sty for keeping it 100. Other content devs have just given in and don’t have much of a critical perspective to offer anymore. The worst argument-is they have to make money to continue development-I guess 1 billion + each year isn’t enough. Sad to see the independent gaming company that started everything slowly devolve into a corporatists stock value obsessed company. They don’t need money, but they’ve succumbed to the ‘others are doing it’ mentality and no longer lead the industry the way they used to.
Not a fan of some of these challenges to be honest. Feels like you have to go out of way if you want to get them, a bit like the trophies or achievements. Also, did they increased Genji's Happi skin from 200 to 300 tokens?
Thank you for explaining this. I wish they allowed you to do it before they put the watchpoint pack on sale. It all looks a bit pricey to me still and the quality on a lot of things seems to have gone down though it could just be that I'm not as excited for them as I used to be so it makes them seem less cool.
I've played Overwatch every week since it was released. Looking at how much you get nickeled and dimed to death in OW2, I'm really thinking my time with this game won't last as long. Also, what's up with the 50% OWL price increase for every skin?
I noticed they double the price of the legacy skins but the currency is the same , not cool Blizz, I hope we can earn legacy coins from just playing the game, plus all recolours of the base skin at least should be purchasable with that currency.
Cheers Stylosa, for keeping it straight and level, and agreed that legacy credits should apply to aught, because ActiBliz knows they will bank on depressing new normal FOMO paywall. There appears a decrease in shame from avarice. I will miss collecting aught.
After watching the vid, I think the monetization will be a massive issue honestly. The Shadow from OW1 will live on by being able to earn stuff for free that you want. Sure you cant have all of it but where does a F2P player gets his skins from? Nowhere, since itll be only trash BP stuff so we will prolly see people having no emotes, no sprays, no intros and no skins since they will barely earn any. Compare that to one. Shame.
I read the PC gamer article talking about how the reviewer didn't like that quests encourage you to play in ways you wouldn't normally, like picking Rein when he's not optimal for a barrier daily, another has you overhealing as a support so you're doing that instead of using your other abilities. Now I see "Heal 12500 damage with weapons" and I'm like "Well, I guess that excludes Brig and Lucio and Zen because they all heal with abilities." And it looks to me like another case where the daily will be guiding the way that people play in your matches all day in a way that isn't focusing simply on winning the match so much as completing the daily. Blizzard says on the page explaining the challenges that they don't want them to feel like a burden but if that's supposed to be the case what I'm seeing makes me think they've missed the mark and it's kind of disconcerting.
The problem with the battle pass is that unlike most games like apex or fortnite, u don't get currency to buy the next battle pass. I find it a bit scummy that I'm going to have to fork over £8.50 each season

No you are right that skin should be more customizable for being mythic. NOT TO MENTION they could have easily added dye in later battle passes to unlock more color variations in preexisting mythics... only half way through the vid but i see so many things they could have done and either didn't think of them or chose not to.
There are more tiers to the BP we don't know what's in them tho so, could be more dyes... could be more useless stuff but we wont know for another week i suppose.

Honestly I absolutely hate this. My favorite part about overwatch was being able to unlock everything for free, and then the exclusive skins like Lego Bastion were exclusive because you played during the event, not because you spent money when the skin was in the store. I get from a business perspective why they’re doing it because every game is and every game is making a ton of money doing it but I absolutely hate it as a long time player. I always enjoyed grinding out loot boxes when a new event dropped to get that legendary skin I wanted. I guess we’ll have to see what they decide to do for events but i’m definitely not feeling too confident that i’ll like it.
If sty is worried about reusing assets use genjis meditate for example, its an emote but is also a victory pose (Edit: yes this is an actual reused asset in ow right now)
I think it'd be awesome if they introduced group emotes although obviously that'd be difficult with the large number of heroes. Group taunts in TF2 are a lot of fun lol
@@mightyhendo9828 that's what I'm saying. I thought it was fully customizable. Hopefully this is just Overwatch testing the waters and soon we could get fully customized skins
Tbh my big issue with this above the other big issues, is the fact that I can't even decide to be a F2P player and still get all the cosmetics for even a single hero that I main. The battle pass being full of shit was expected, though I did expect the free path to have more on it, like victory poses and player icons are just as low tier as voice lines and sprays but they're on the premium pass. Not to mention being presented with an 80 tier battle pass but maybe your main only a single item in the battle pass, that's absolutely ridiculous that if I want say a hero's victory pose in the pass I have to buy the pass? The legacy credits thing does seem quite a bit dubious though, considering how vague they were on it and I'm pretty sure they were giving the impression that the old OW1 event items wouldn't be available in OW2 or would be rare in the shop, but now seeing this legacy credits are actually incredibly valuable? So in essence anyone who has spent legacy credits on skins in OW1 that people were under the impression were going away, they're now going to have to buy currency to get any of the new cosmetics. Definitely not a fan of ALL the cosmetics being paywalled though, particularly since you can only earn an abysmmal amount of coins per season. I mean 540 coins per season with a battle pass that costs 1000 and several bundles that cost 2k each that is quite frankly unacceptable
Only option left is to put to save up as much point from free battle tears then buy the battle pass with your most favorite skins, after earning from that then play the free battle pass again the next season after then buy the following

@@TyZ-ms5lu Don't even blame Fortnite because it has a far more generous Battle Pass than this shit. For one they actually let you earn back ALL of the Vbucks you spend on it, instead of just half.
I mean League skins only look good top down. The moment you zoom in it start to look weird

I have the same feeling about this. I for example like Junkrat so I would be more willing to pay money to unlock stuff for a character I really like. In Overwatch 1 I enjoyed collecting everything even if I don´t use it that often because it was available but with this new concept I rather just collect what I´m going to use.
I agree with this 100%. Gonna be grinding up coins in ow1 just to be safe tho ^-^

Being able to get 300 vbucks as free means that within a couple seasons, you just buy premium and then can maintain it
The 20% xp probably means that the free version will be a horrible grind
oh ya you know it they balance the battlepass xp around the assumption that you own it.
Make it grindy to make it predatory.
Blizzard has shown where their priorities lie over the last few years. They clearly just want to make dirty money off of OW2.
Why put effort into anything when u get paid regardless?

the prices are ridiculous and they even raised OWL token costs.
20$ for a skin bundle is actual insanity. They want you to pay MORE for those than the actual BP. Hard pass...
Apex Legends player: "First time?"
Looks like the reason we got so little skins over these last few years is that they were fluffing up their store with legendary bundles.

Both LA Gladiators and Seoul Dynasty got first place. For that tournament, the regions played separately, so LA won the NA tournament, and Seoul won the APAC tournament.
the problem with the battle pass is that most niche heroes (like roadhog) get litaral garbage
the way most games fix this is by giving you enough premium currency to get the next one if you completly finish the pass
this makes the game have a permanant playerbase no matter what and alot more people who'd buy the pass and maybe even levels for it
idk why ow2 didnt do this because they convinced me to never buy a pass until a roadhog mythic comes out
Exactly as much as people hate on apex its nice they give you enough to buy a few packs and the next battle pass for free
The biggest complaint I have about the battle pass is the lack of premium currency. The #1 factor that separates battle passes from being anti consumer from being consumer friendly is the ability to get the next battle pass for free if you finish the current one. Really disappointing.
I 100% agree. Especially if they are going to be changing quite a bit of that same currency for every cosmetic item.

The shop is so lacking I can't even say much about it outside of stuffing packs with the same thing but split in two is nonsense and they've already blurred the lines of what defines a skin tier, The Cass skin in the battlepass is so basic and then there's the Doom skin in the shop, Gee I can't possibly imagine why that's the case
The use for legacy credits is nice at least, but it is going to annoy so many people that will forever have a few left over if you can't get more though, myself included
And the *temporary* comp titles are just "Rank here" challenge?
I've spent $200 there over the past few years and know others that have spent a lot more. But as it stands now, I don't think I'll be giving Blizzard anymore of my money. They really don't give a rat's ass about their player base beyond what their wallets hold.

Shame.
So, do legacy credits get earned like in OW1? Like getting a handful of coin for certain role ques?
The only legacy credits you will ever be able to use are the ones you already stockpiled from OW1. Once you run out of those you can’t gain any more.
You're not being harsh at all, you're speaking the truth. Which is more than I can say for a certain other Overwatch RUclipsr.

My favorite part about overwatch was being able to unlock everything for free, and then the exclusive skins like Lego Bastion were exclusive because you played during the event, not because you spent money when the skin was in the store.
