Wow, this is so smart! I see a lot of people building the shell and THEN going to go pick out cabinets . . . I can't imagine what a pain that would end up being! Funny story, so our house was actually designed around our kitchen set, BUT when we were measuring stuff out for the electrician, we REALIZED the entry door was 1ft TOO FAR into the kitchen - the cabinets would NOT fit! The poor builders had to rip that wall apart and re-do the doorway . . . But, they hadn't taken some of the walls into account when measuring their framing . . .
I love your videos, Liz! That is a very helpful comment about wall thickness...I already drew up my kitchen on graphing paper, but didn't account for wall thickness. I will correct that soon, as the cabinet guy is planning to come on Wednesday to take measurements! I'm so excited!!
Also I must have been subscribed to you on one of my other channels, I know I was getting notifications, but then looking at this I saw I wasn't subbed on here!
Liz I love seeing you use the graph paper. My husband thinks I have a problem as I love drawing things up on graph paper even though I have design software. Also, was your mistake the measurement on the fridge wall? 117 not 119 inches? Your videos always make me feel so much more informed.....and always make me go back to our kitchen plan to see if I have made you proud or not.☺
Hi Liz, what is your opinion regarding a mini walk in /reach in corner pantry room in a kitchen wherein the door is slanted and the inside of the pantry is triangular? Is it worth it? Would u like to have it in your own house?
Hi Liz, in our country, the minimum stairs tread depth is .30m. Do you think making it .32m is going to make it comfortable or would be dangerous? Less than .30 I find it hard to use.
Hi Liz, I want to design an ikea kitchen. I want it to be bilaterally symmetrical. I tried designing function first but I don’t like it. Is it true, when designing for bilateral symmetry, the space needs to be an even number. So that there is a center and a pair for kitchen cabinets? Can you do a video for small kitchen symmetry as small as 3x3 . Space and homes in my country has an average kitchen of 3x3 meters. Your us Canada kitchen is very big and considered a luxury in my country not attainable for most of us.
That’s a decent size kitchen, even by US standards 🤣 if symmetry is your priority, start at the middle and work out, with filler strips on each end to make it fit.
The sliding door is to the side yard. The door at the front of the house is the entry door and it's recessed in a covered area. The exterior walls were not changing in this remodel. All work was interior and the windows were already replaced weeks ago.

See? I’m not making this up!🤣

That’s so exciting! Double check after they draw it up!
Always always graph!! Thank you!!

That’s not it… I find drawing it makes it clearer for me too!

They take up more room than it seems, usually 54” off the corner on both sides. If you have the room, I love it vs corner cabinets all day long!

That was one of my husband’s requests. Make my size 13’s fit on the stair. The deeper treads weren’t an issue for safety at any size and felt grand! 👸
@@lizbiancoismydesignsherpa I see. Thank you

Where can you get that big of graph paper?
Office supply, Amazon, Staples. I like the 1/4” squares so it’s accurate to regular sized architectural drawings.
@@lizbiancoismydesignsherpa TY for your reply. God Bless you. Just found your channel and excited to hear what else advise you have. Keep shining!

I take down the wall and put a sliding door where the door is so you can get more light into your room and get a bigger kitchen
