Thank you! #7 is a massive winner! We live in the mountains and winters get COLD. We are doing new construction and I made my husband listen to this. No more freezing my tail off waiting for the water to get hot. Plus the shower size/cold corners makes perfect sense.

Thank you thank you thank you for pointing out the contradiction of building beautiful accent shower niches which will be filled with 8 bottles of partially used shampoos, conditioners, multi-flavored body wash, and one bottle nobody's sure about. Wish you'd shown a pic of a hidden niche -- I've seen a couple on RUclips bathroom remodels and think they're great. I moved the shower valves away from the shower heads as you mention but spent forever trying to layout the shower controls so they didn't look random. Wish I'd seen your video earlier to think a bit more about lighting and electrical, but I still have time to address the basics. One thing you didn't mention is the issue of sound control to adjacent rooms -- my bathroom shares a wall with the living room, and you REALLY want soundproofing between those two. Unfortunately that means not using the in-wall space for more storage (need the space for sound insulation and lots of it), but there are 3 other walls for that. Thanks for a no-nonsense approach to building spaces that make life better.

Good point! The flushing of a toilet doesn't make for an entertaining space! :)

Whenever I see a large shower, I always wonder how long it takes to clean the blasted thing. It might look pretty in the picture, but that's of little comfort when it takes 20 or 30 minutes to clean it.

I have two niche cubbies in my shower. I don’t even use them. I’ve been in this house for a year and four months. We are getting ready to remodel this bathroom and that would be the second thing we take out the first thing the tile

    #7....BRILLIANT!
What are your thoughts about the tubs, and wall mount toilets/bidets INSIDE a walk in shower (a walk in shower which obviously is on the larger side)?
I know it sounds crazy, but they have them more than you'd think in Europe and with removable shower heads, it makes cleaning and sanitizing the toilet and the area around it beyond convenient.
It's weird, but does actually make sense....kind of?

The face thing. Hubby has one. First time I saw it, I was disgusted because I thought it was something naughty, but i didn't say anything. I was resentful because he wasn't sharing in the fun with me. Then I saw him using it and I was like, oh, that's what it's for. Let's have brunch.

Question no one talks about materials that are easy to take care of placing in the bathroom for example no white grout it never stays clean. Glass shower are even more troublesome to keep clean. Any suggestions?

You can seal the grout after a good cleaning but it’s a constant battle!

You can put up a pretty shower curtain on the inside of the shower and it stops soap and water going on the glass and then can be pulled back later. It’s good for kids who won’t squeegee the glass after every use. And gives them some privacy too.

whats better a niche or ledge? Whats better sconces around the mirror or just a really good light on top of the mirror? THank you againfor your content and help

Niche is tidier, tucked away from protruding but either works fine. Sconces are more flattering. They create less shadows on the face and Heaven knows, I could use less shadows🤣

@@lizbiancoismydesignsherpaI have a ledge across the length of my shower which means I’m not restricted by the height of anything and can sit some plants on it too. I love it. I actually purposely chose it instead of a niche. A plain niche can look nice but it becomes the focal point if it has busy tiles in it. I also had the shower controls on the shelf wall back from the shower head so water could get to the right temperature before stepping in. I also added a small hand shower in case I just wanted to wash off my feet, wash the dog, as well as using it to rinse the shower after cleaning it. In the bathroom where we have the bath I included a little handheld to wash children’s hair when in the bath, could also wash the dog in there too. I researched loads before designing and choosing fittings etc and I love our bathrooms. 😊
