Maria is a straight up KILLER. She comin out, judging fairly... giving her real thoughts without shaving points and STILL throws down with the episodes best empanadas. QUEEN.

I LOVE MARIA !!!!!!!!!!! SHE'S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SOUL INSIDE OUT. She's so honest and fair, AND, she's so humble for making the best empanadas even though she scored EVERY other empanada higher than everyone else. PLEASE BRING HER BACK EVERY TIME. There's never been a more humble and honest person to do this series.
I love the fact that every country / region in the world has a version of this. The universal pastry.

In Nigeria we call this meat pie and it’s filled with beef or chicken and veggies like potatoes and carrots. Some add onions finely minced too and then it’s thickened with a slurry. It’s really really good
The crunch of the empanadas literally made jump in my seat. I was driven to get up and go find some!

Maria is such a great contestant. Loved her honesty and integrity, plus she just seems like a really nice lady.
I loved this group of ladies and Maria was so sweet. See people, you don’t have to down score others purposely in order to win. If your food is good, it will stand on its own and you don’t need to do tricks.
These women were all very balanced in their comments and judging, bring them back please!

As soon as I saw and heard Maria’s empanadas, that did it for me. I knew she was the winner. Definitely authentic!!

Colombians have so much love and are so nice. My Spanish teacher was Colombian. She was the sweetest teacher I ever had, she taught us about coffee and dancing. Now I want to go!!!!

I’m gringo and when I stayed in Colombia for a year I HAD to learn how to make empenadas . It’s a lot of work,but they taste amazing and now everyone in the states ask me to make empenadas for them all the time :)
Recently had a lot of vids like this come up on my YT and this is so refreshing to see - no one's being overly dramatic and bad-mouthing anyone else's. Just genuine feedback and criticism where warranted.
Not sure if in other ones people are extremely negative and overreact as some kind of "entertainment factor" (it's not) or to try and win, but I much prefer just seeing videos like this. Mature, respectable people, no holier-than-thou attitudes to be found.

I spent a year traveling through South America. Loved empanadas from every region. A great convenience food--snack--especially for trips. I personally prefer oven baked empanadas. I feel they are harder to make...because they can get really dry if not done right.

It’s safe to say older people cooking is amazing.i know younger people are more healthy so sometimes that flavor and taste maybe missing.but man I’m going to miss the world when all the older people are gone.we won’t have these tasty meals anymore
the thing is that both Martha and Maria were clearly born and raised in Colombia so they know the traditional way to do it and how they are actually supposed to look like.

Can someone tell me why the first empanada and the winning empanada has the little white specs in them? They said it was fresh corn, does that mean they ground it themselves? The ones with the white bits look so good and were super crispy.
When I use cornflour for porridge sometimes it clumps so so parts aren’t as well blended/ cooked
Its probably the same thing when frying
It depends where it is prepared, in my house we cook white corn, grind it and then add salt and a little turmeric and knead it.
