I love Martha's voice, so soothing. And I love how Maria compliments everyone and scores high. If she didn't give the 10, which is super rare given its a competition, then it would have been a tie. Both of their dishes looked perfect.

But Frijoles is red or pinto peas (other red peas are okay too, but those are the go to ones. Combine both if you want a different flavour profile/texture). This dish, some times made with adding pigtails in the peas pot and continue Simmer until everything is tender and then seasoned for more flavours with herbs & spices, and or can made without the meat if you are vegan, meat free. The Cubans, Costa Ricans, Panamanians, Brazilians also made Frijoles similar Look how diverse we all are, but over dishes are familiar and similar in taste and preparation, yet is named differently from other sisters nations and countries.
idk what mexican frijoles she has seen but I wouldn't consider those Mexican frijoles either 💀girly was doing a lil too much saying they had Mexican vibes on them and laughing about it

Thats not even the worst part she said we put the nice things and then says to put potatoes.... we Colombians dont even put potatoes on our frijoles!!! Not even Mexicans do that!! (Brw as a Colombian I actually like Mexican frijoles as well.... Mexican food IS actually yummy!)
Lol. Jess will find a way to make something she doesn't really like work. LOLOL. She gave a few options on how to eat the dry beans. That was too funny! Martha and Maria have been cooking a long time. I feel like I'd be safe at their tables. Lol. I enjoy this foursome, every time!
Alex rated Jess's beans higher than Maria's? She literally gave Jess's Frijoles a 9 then gave us a twist when she rated Maria's as 7! How? I am sorry but Maria's and Martha's look so delicious! I want the recipes!!!
I love how not only are all four Colombian, but they made specific region references (Cali and Bogotá got shout-outs). Alex's beans looked very dry compared to the others, and the reference to the beans being firmer was consistent, so... they still look okay and I'm happy she was pleased with them. I will say that the other three looked really good, and Martha's definitely look like Jamaican "stew peas". I'm not surprised she won.
Thats not mexican frigolitos lol thats texmex . Mexicans don't use kidney beans😅 i cook frigolitos like the first lady with cilantro . I put coteja cheese and cremita . eat it with corn tortillas. Please don't say Mexicans cook with kidney beans.
When done right you guys have nice frijoles as well!! (I'm Colombian) Ive been to amazing Mexican restaurants serve really nice frijoles but Sadly ive been to some mexican restaurants where i live and oof! No! Lo dañaron. But mexican food? Can be amazing!!! Specially well done tacos 😋😋😋😋
Just to set the record straight, those look nothing like Mexican beans. Not sure how Mexican cuisine got dragged into this, but she's trying to perpetuate some negative narrative about Mexican food and I'm not here for it.

That's called calentao :). It means 'reheated' and you can make it with the leftovers of anything, including a Sunday roast. But don't forget to do a sunny-side-up egg - the runny egg yolk is the perfect sauce!
The first 3 frijoles do not represent Colombian frijoles the last one looked okay but they were too dry, in fact all 4 if them were too dry, normally they would be served in a bowl like a soup with thick texture, also anyone wondering why one of the frijoles had potato and not plantain could have been because she didn't have any plantain and needed a starchy vegetable to thicken the soup, and I'm not even gonna talk on the American girls frijoles because everything about it looked wrong
0.21 since when do we colombians put POTATOES on our frijoles????? You're not really a Colombian are you? Nowhere in Colombia will serve you frijoles with potatoes inside! Chicharron or pork, tomatoes, hogao, platanos (plantains) maybe even mix rice and then the spices but potatoes? POTATOES?!?!

Girl bye.
To clarify this is mainly a popular dish in the Antioquia region of Colombia. Beans are eaten throughout Colombia but the way they were presented here was in the paisa style. Colombia is pretty regional and varied with each area having variations in the food, accent, etc.
