Trust me! The Dals were straight out of hell! A Daal is a mixed pulse lentils soup and tarka technically means added spices. My mom always puts fried and cut tomatoes,chillies and cumins with fresh clarified butter in it and it's a chef's kiss!

As a person who has taken too many aloo gobi Sabjis to school and has always had an immense bias for any sort of dal, tarka or otherwise, this is not what either of the dishes look like. However, maa ka khaana is maa ka khaana, people may not like them but kids definitely love them!

Seriously. Where are the peas? There are so many variations to both the dishes they cooked but they made the most basic versions.
Actually both dry and saucy versions are authentic depending on the part of India they originate from. I prefer a bit of sauce myself.
