I always think of simple foods as comfort food.... mac and cheese ,mashed potatoes, chicken noodle soup, chicken and dumplings, ice cream, chocolate....stuff like that.
@@ihwanchn No need to season the fish when it was topped by a well seasoned sauce. I don't add a lot of seasonings to meats if I'm going to top them with something that has a lot of flavor. It's a great way to reduce the amount of sodium while ensuring the dish has flavor.
It's a Coles commercial. The best part of this video, by far, is the gentleman's (they did not tell us his name) story about how he came out to his family. Coles must be a great company to work for.
Lol I'm not familiar with the store and I was like these people really like Coles. I feel like there should be a disclaimer saying this was funded by Coles or something.
Mine is hot dogs cut up into pasta sauce with onions and adobo seasoning served over white rice. My abuela made this when I was a kid and I make it in honor of her

1. What tf does southerner mean?! You ca be from the south of any country. The entitlement of you americans to think the world is familiar with your inner denominations is astonishing. No one knows what a southerner is and what it means. I KNOW because i ve seen this discourse about potato salad and raisin in the us, but that s just me. I like how he said he likes a lot of cheese but only adds a few light springles of cheese on the pasta bake lol. It's like the opposite of other youtubers who say they will only add a light drizzle of olive oil but go ahead and use a shit ton of oil.
Sydney Cebu Lechon is the BEST!!!! We don't have enough filo restaurants in Australia and I'm so proud to tell friends to go to your spot because it does not DISAPPOINT!
Omg RYAN!!! Who is an absolute pro cook and I'm highly inspired by his approach to cooking but he just put cornstarch into a stew without premixing it in water....dead! 💀⚰️🥀
I loved Courtney's fish sandwich. It reminded me of my grandfather who used to fish and fry the local shad fish every Sunday. He has Alzheimer's now but he still loves to fish. Seeing that sandwich made me want to go camping and fishing and fry what I catch. Thank you.
"I have the Cole's pre-made potato salad." The ancestors are murmurring... "Which I've mixed the sultanas in there." NOOOOOOOOOO, the ancestors scream. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Most people think of warm plates or bowls of filling and possibly even rich meals when they think of comfort food. A sandwich won a comfort food competition. This has got to be one amazing ass sandwich.
Comfort food: congee mixed with pork mince (add salt and pepper to mince) , youtiao (Chinese doughnut sticks) century duck egg wedge sliced, garnish with coriander leaves and chopped green onion.
They were all such good comfort food cooks. Their recipes were amazing, and the end result was creative deliciousness. I predicted the winner. I took one look at her juicy fish sandwich and immediately felt comforted. This was quite a fun video to watch. Thank you BuzzFeed! 🥪🥪
My comfort food is Filipino Misua! Its a meatball soup with very thin noodles and it makes my soul warm! My partner introduced me to it years ago and I'm still obsessed! I cook it at least once a week
I came back to this because it’s Friday in pittsburgh during lent season and I wanted to see that amazing sandwich before I get some later. Great video
I have 2 comfort foods, One is my Grandads Meat and Potato Pie (which we sued to have instead of birthday cakes as kids 😂) and the other is what Mum calls Vegetarian Porridge (Bulgar wheat pressure cooked with onions and capsicum and what ever else we had on hand with vege stock)
Hmm. I moved countries in my teens and haven’t really had foods of my childhood for decades. It’s so hard to reimagine what childhood food I’d have today because the food system where I grew up was quite limited and things tasted different. For example, we sometimes added sugar to vegetables because for whatever reason, the vegetables were bitter. Oranges also weren’t orange; they were green yellow and do not taste like the orange oranges. Imported foods, except for limited canned foods, was almost nil.
I would have never thought of a fish sandwich as comfort food but omg Courtney you have definitely changed my mind and will try your recipe. All of the dishes looked absolutely delicious This is why I love these videos. Thank you for this video❤

We love you Ryan 😍

I love this challenge. Cole’s did feel kind of stuffed down our throats IMO but make that money.
Totally agreed. 50% if the judges are Coles reps..

Gotta love paid partnerships/promotions
😂😂😂😂 tell me about and I live in the USA…all I know is Coles has it all!

Really loved Courtney in this, she was so lovely. But really, all their dishes looked amazing! Hope to see these chefs again!
I always think of simple foods as comfort food.... mac and cheese ,mashed potatoes, chicken noodle soup, chicken and dumplings, ice cream, chocolate....stuff like that.
Comfort foods can really be anything, it's often simple, but for some people it's nostalgic or a mix of flavors or textures they love
I loved how Courtney reacted 😂So cute and humble 🎉
She was being sarcastic
@@Nushka23 from your perspective 🤗
@@nanix572 you're a fucking idiot. This whole damned thing was an advertisement for her grocery stores so of course she would "win"
@@nanix572she pretended as if she was accepting an award. She was joking.
@@Nushka23 I believe she was just shocked because she won against very good competitors. Again your perspective.
I’m shocked none of them tried soup. Soup is so comforting.
I love the first story of comfort 😭😭😭😭😭 siblings are truly the GOATs
That fish sandwich looked incredible.
The fish wasnt seasoned
@@ihwanchnit doesn't need to be. That's enough of flavour from the thick sauce. It's like filet o fish from McDonald's

Right!!!!
I LOVE Courtney! Please have her back on future episodes

right lol
It's a Coles commercial. The best part of this video, by far, is the gentleman's (they did not tell us his name) story about how he came out to his family. Coles must be a great company to work for.
His name is Tyler, it was on screen, and you could also see his badge in his coles uniform.
@@otherjulief you watch the video you’ll see the first cook was the one who said he came out to his family over his lamb chops. Not Tyler
