Sending lots of wishes to everyone for a fabulous festive season and thanks so much for supporting this series, I really hope each and every one of you gets a slice of joy from this final Chefs Try of the year!! Looking forward to bringing it back in the new year with some fun themes, exciting recipes, and having a good laugh in the judges seat 💞
I'm Muslim and I don't celebrate Christmas but I have to say, this was my favourite episode of chefs try of buzzfeed oz. Everyone was so polite and every dish looked so festive and happy. The vibes were just lovelyyy of this episode. Cannot wait to see more of these 4 chefs together!! ❤️
I don't celebrate it but I'm not gonna deny, the colours and the aesthetics will always be so pretty to me! And my neighbours make some delicious bakes around that time! Last year they gave me a mini gingerbread house the size of my hand that was decorated like a cute little cottage and it was DELISH! It was soft, chewy and had warming flavours and decorated with piped marshmallow as well as some candies. Even if I don't celebrate it, my neighbourhood becomes much more inviting and the season is so beautiful!
These all looked absolutely incredible…like I want every one of them…but I have to say I am consistently impressed with Ryan. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him make a dish that doesn’t get a near perfect score. Buzzfeed Australia is always bringing awesome content.
I love the Chefs Try series! Each dish is unique and gorgeous. Each chef puts their own spin, culture, flavor, and love into them. This deserves it's own youtube award for wholesome and delicious! ✨️😋
I love this series because it looks like SO much fun to be apart of. You get to spend time planning and cooking something incredible, share it with others, eat what they've prepared which is also incredible, and just talk about it.
In all fairness, for the last dish, those brussels sprouts are like fifty percent butter and beef juice by the time that dish has finished roasting. Damn straight they taste delicious. I don't even like brussels sprouts and I'd eat the shit out of those.
Brussel sprouts can seriously be elevated to such heights lol. I remember ordering some with like pistachio, orange and goats cheese at a fancy gay bar in Southern California once years ago and I’ve never stopped thinking about them 😂
The recipes that this segment of Buzzfeed Oz always brings to the table are just….I don’t even have the words to describe them! I’m a vegetarian and I have never ever liked meat. Yet these chefs make me want to eat everything that they cook.
I was confused as to why her dish was scored so high since that's a summer themed dish... then I remembered, I'm from the USA, not AUS. It's Summer in AUS during Christmas, not Winter 🤣
This episode was really interesting. I only ever considered pork or beef for roasts. It was neat seeing other meats used. I also didn’t know you could cook a roast that fast. 🤯
First one could be good but the poultry needs to be salted in advanced to have the flavour penetrate. It was surely bland regardless of everything added 😢 😊
These videos make me want to go to Australia to try the food. The chefs there seems amazing. All the dishes were great, but that duck ... I didn't think I would like it, but it became so appealing by the end. Actually, I just hit Ryan's, his was incredible, too. They all were.
I mean, only salt and pepper is already bland enough, and then she put barely any!! That too only on the top. I bet my omelette has more salt and pepper than that... It's a shame cz the dish looks bomb otherwise.
Cherry sauce looks amazing!! That said, as an American I will never ever ever get used to the Australian use of the word “homely” lol. Like, I know you mean “this dish feels like a cozy home” but all I hear is “this dish is ugly as f**k” 😂
Omg that salmon roast would be soooooo good for a hot summer day 😍 nice and light and refreshing with those vegetables 😫🤤 the adobo one is screaming my name too!
Ryan while that beef is WAY too rare for me I if it were cooked more I would love the recipe. Can you list your recipe for the beetroot jam? It looks incredible and both cherries and beetroot are foods I am trying to eat more in my diet.
Can you imagine having all four on your Christmas table? They all looked so flavorful and beautiful. I want to try everything. Thank you Chefs. Merry Christmas Everyone!🥰
I'm learning that seasoning not only varies by culture but possibly country or region of the world. I would try that cherry duck. Hopefully they post the recipes. And the salmon roast. 😯
I have to remember that me being American, I’m used to things being heavily seasoned. I guess other cultures and countries do it differently and that’s fine, too.
i mean it's seasoned just not with powder, it' all fresh parsley, mint, pepper, onions etc. I had never even heard of onion and garlic powder before i started following American recipes😂 i don't get the obsession?
I always forget that Australia celebrates Christmas during their summer 😂 I was like how is salmon a game changer in the cold??? Took a minute to click!
I find Ryan’s aversion to capsicum on a Christmas plate interesting. Isn’t that a summer crop? Why all the winter veggies for a holiday that I’ve been told is often on one of the hottest days of the summer? Is it just based on traditions brought over from England back in the day?
For me the salmon was the most Christmasy Aussie dish. The others all seemed like winter dishes to me. I can't think of anything worse than cooking a roast of Xmas day, too hot for that shit.
A big roast is still a very popular Christmas dish in Australia despite it being summer. In my family we generally have a big christmas dinner at lunch time (with Ham, Pork and Turkey) and then later in the evening will eat a smaller tea/supper of salads, cold meats, prawns or even just grazing foods like cheese platters and dip etc.
Argh! Does BF Oz post these recipes anywhere? I must inflict several of these on my family this year! This video will be getting a few more views as I take notes. :P Linda's salmon dish sounds perfect for our table, with Will's a close second behind.
As a northern hemisphere resident I didn't compute that of course Australia is the country that celebrates Christmas at the Summer Solstice. I was reminded when the salmon dish came out. I wonder if there is a mid-winter (i.e. summer solstice) festival there. It would make sense because the reason our mid-winter holidays exist is to provide cheer and community when days are at their darkest.
A whole piece of meat might get a weird shape during the roasting process. The twine keeps the shape of the cut, so the meat roasts evenly all over and the slices come out in a uniform shape.
American here. Love your channel but had a good giggle at Hot Christmas Day. I'm in Texas and it stays pretty warm here but sometimes we get to wear sweaters!
I don't eat duck but was so surprised they said it was flavorful even with no seasoning and that bland weird stuffing. The pork and salmon looked good though
I like to switch it up. This year I made a whole ham and a duck. Last year was prime rib. Some years it's turkey and ham. Turkey and ham tend to go on sale at Christmas some times prime rib does too.
Funny how Ryan doesn't approve of bell peppers for the holidays. They're so bright red and green! For me, garlic is the flavor I love but don't want at holiday meals. Funny how our own personal traditions get shaped over time (mostly in childhood, I bet). Also, cherries for Christmas sounds ridiculous for a North American, but it makes a lot of sense for Australia!
I love roast beef/prime rib, I also adore duck. Don't forget the British roast potatoes, vegetables, gravy, and the soup! I just wish that roasts weren't so expensive ☹
Looks so yummy yung lechon it's been a while I had lechon when I was in the Philippines! But I'm the nederlands if you buy meat from the butcher it's expensive
I know that first chef didn't say that she seasoned the duck. That looked like she sprinkled good will and best wishes because that was not anywhere near enough salt and pepper. Lol.
This year I marinated a turkey in a home made jerk marinate that used brown Scotch bonnets as a base. I pan fried cornbread and then crumbled it up and made stuffing out of it using broth made with the turkey neck and giblets and half and half.

Does your back hurt for carrying this whole company?
Love you downnnn 🫶🏾
I LOVE YOU RYAN YOU ARE SO COOL
Love this series. Well done!
You are a breath of fresh air Ryan
I love seeing actual chefs rating one another. I feel like they give actual fair ratings and give decent criticism.
YES! I don't want food evaluations from Tom 🤣 I might as well ask my 6 year old for cooking tips

I love the Chefs Try series! Each dish is unique and gorgeous. Each chef puts their own spin, culture, flavor, and love into them. This deserves it's own youtube award for wholesome and delicious! ✨️😋
I love to see these videos where chefs who can actually cook enjoy each other's food. They're eating roasts, not roasting each other. 😄❤
Dancing around before saying "mm" feels so much more authentic than some of the reactions I've seen 😂 I trust her implicitly
I love this series because it looks like SO much fun to be apart of. You get to spend time planning and cooking something incredible, share it with others, eat what they've prepared which is also incredible, and just talk about it.

Linda can throw down. Everything I’ve seen from her just looked extremely delicious. Ryan got skills too.
I'd love for all of these roast dishes to be on my table for Christmas!
Aww this was so wholesome, they all enjoyed each others dish and wanted the recipes!
im watching buzzfeed after 6-7 years, looks like theyre back on track
This is the premium league of chefs okay! Happy Holidays everyone!❤️🎄
First one could be good but the poultry needs to be salted in advanced to have the flavour penetrate. It was surely bland regardless of everything added 😢 😊
It does need seasoning some seasoning salt garlic powder alot
I said, No seasoning on the duck. 😳
Not nearly enough seasoning on the duck.
Rightttt. I was like is it me?? Cos where is the seasoning on the DUCK wheew!
So glad I wasn't the only one
These videos make me want to go to Australia to try the food. The chefs there seems amazing. All the dishes were great, but that duck ... I didn't think I would like it, but it became so appealing by the end. Actually, I just hit Ryan's, his was incredible, too. They all were.
I just can’t fathom salt and pepper as flavouring on the first bird. It’s just not enough
What flavouring would you use?
I was going to say the same...it probably didn't taste like anything cuz she didn't even brine the bird.so sad
Exactly what I was thinking because I even rewound the video to see if I missed her adding more seasoning. lol
The lack of seasoning was crazy to me 😩
I mean, only salt and pepper is already bland enough, and then she put barely any!! That too only on the top. I bet my omelette has more salt and pepper than that...

The roast beast! Such a Christmas thing.

Why is the beef tenderloin wrapped with twine if it isn’t cut/stuffed?
A whole piece of meat might get a weird shape during the roasting process. The twine keeps the shape of the cut, so the meat roasts evenly all over and the slices come out in a uniform shape.
Everything looked so delicious. I would pay money to eat those right now
