The Jamie one amuses me so much because Sorted Jamie did the paella burrito, Spain was offended, then a few years later Jamie Oliver did almost the exact same thing (paella burrito; not sure if the recipe was the same) and Spain was offended. Basically, anyone named Jamie needs to not do anything paella related.

I understand the rage he felt about the electric kettle. I didn’t get one until about 6 years ago and it’s been a game changer!They are just so damn convenient and way quicker than traditional boiling. I use mine year round, not just in the winter when I want hot beverages.
And then when you consider that the voltage in the UK is double that of the US, the kettle boils even faster in the UK
Going up in the US we've always had a kettle. I don't know why they're spreading the myth that kettles aren't the thing in the US.
Having an electric kettle is even more convenient! It takes less time to boil and it frees up a burner on the stove.

Recently switched from electric to a stove top kettle but it's only worth it when you have a gas stove if you use a stove top on an electric stove it's going to be so slow. Electric kettles are the bomb though

Not having a kettle is insane to me (Aus) - fastest/easiest way to boil water
American voltage is weak,half that of the UK so thats why they don't use electric kettle. Ours boil incredibly fast so we have had electric kettles for decades and love them. ❤

Max Miller brings a certain exquisite class to everything!! Love the British boys, too!! Josh and Lily were really on their game. One of the best Mythical Kitchen episodes ever.
Max brings professionalism to this, and he knows his food, so they know nobody’s safe.
As a lifelong Midwestern American, I can't imagine not having an electric kettle. It's used every day for tea, coffee, pasta, sanitizing, etc.

@@chickpea734 yeah, boiling water kills most germs. It's useful for cleaning plastic chopping boards, and bowls you don't have time to wash up completely in the middle of cooking.

Lily....THANK YOU for stacking the empty little bowls after you add the ingredients. It's cleaner, clears space and easier to remove from counter. Josh NEVER does that and it makes me crazy seeing all the empty bowls EVERYWHERE.
My Dad made divorced dad pancakes before he was even divorced 😂 He would make what he called "Man-cakes". Which was basically one big pancake the size of the bottom of the pan we were cooking with 😅

This was one of the best episodes. Everyone did great. Lily is never going to be able to look at cornstarch the same ever again. Barry’s voice is amazing, for when you hit puberty.
As an American, I'm going to stan for electric kettles. They're so fast and convenient, I constantly use it to heat water extra, extra hot when I'm washing dishes by hand. (The dishes air-dry faster when they're rinsed in really hot water.)
I'll agree they're great, but I can understand most people not wanting another thing eating up counter space when its use overlaps with the stove, microwave, and coffee maker.
You don't have a dishwasher then? We have hot tap water for doing dishes. Can't see a need for a kettle. Soooo never had one.
@@garycamara9955 I have a dishwasher, but also wash many things by hand. Plus the kettle heats the water to boiling, so it's much hotter than the tap and you can make your tea or whatever faster than with the microwave.

I am rather fond of it as I can make large amounts of hot water for rice pilaf or coffee, tea, or instant coco. With out stoping other cooking processes.

I don't have a kettle, but I do have a small pan perfect-sized for my French press or two large cups of tea, and it is home on a specific stove coil.

The melt down that happened at the lack of tea pot might be the best improvised scene of this channel.
Kettles and tea pots are not the same thing. The function of electric kettles are to boil water and do it much faster than a pot on a stove would. Most of the time it is used to make tea but you can also use it to boil water to cook with. Tea pots are simply a vessel in which you brew tea.
I'm a British guy but I've known about the whole kettle thing for a long time, seeing other British people react to finding out is the funniest thing to me because I know the pain.

As an American I applaud Barry for flipping off Josh for making tea in the microwave. He also tried to gaslight them into thinking there aren't any American kettles. We have both kettles and tea pots. They're not even uncommon in certain parts of the country. America is a big place filled with many different cultures and subcultures that are unique unto itself.

About half my friends and family have them, and it takes so little time to boil water in one!

An induction cooktop would be a good investment for Mythical Kitchen. Hotter, safer and quicker. Somebody needs to spend some money to help out Josh and his wild bunch.

I love that if you only knew Sorted from this video, you'd think Barry's voice is actually that deep.
Hearing them know what the three sisters are warmed my heart. Not many people know indigenous cuisine so for them to put a little spotlight on it was so nice.
Headcanon now believes Max's kitchen is just a room in the same studio complex as every other RUclips channel I watch. Townsends homestead is on a soundstage.
I most definitely do have an electric kettle. ^-^ All of the females in my family suddenly had an, 'Ah, I need one of those' moment several years ago, and we've each had once since. I adore mine.
...we three were equally sad that the gift possibility between us was remarkably snuffed out so suddenly and simultaneously. Tea lovers unfortunately think alike this this case.
Addendum: microwave tea is barbaric and a last resort. At least just heat the mug of water THEN add the tea bag. Pshaw, etc.
American pancakes are based on drop scones/Scottish pancakes. My great aunt seemed to be able to produce piles of hot fresh drop scones in the time it took to boil a kettle if you dropped 'round. Served with butter & slathered in home made raspberry jam. Plus you'd get a big bag of them yo take home. 🥞
We got pancakes from the Dutch here in the United States. The Dutch were here first around New York and had them.

Native Americans, like most nations had their own version of pancakes before Europeans turned up. & Yes the Dutch had a big influence on pancake eating in America. But if you look at cultural influences, recipes & the flow of people into the Americas, the Drop Scone/scotch pancake is much, much closer to the now standard American pancake. Whichever way you eat them they're all delicious 🥞

Have you had Chinese scallion pancakes/CONG YOU BING,/葱油饼? Got to be my favourite dish names "pancakes". If they weren't so fattening I think I'd eat nothing else for a week. Great to meet someone online who can meet in the middle. BTW, I'm on the East Coast of Scotland & we share a lot of food traditions & language with the Dutch & Frisii/Frisian. In some parts Frisian was as commonly spoken as English & Doric in the East until the 1800's.

I’m not from the UK, Portugal born and raised, I’ve used an electric kettle my whole life and I was shocked to discover that most Americans don’t use nor have one at home. 😅 I guess Europeans are in fact different species

For some reason, I really like Mr. Barry's voice in this episode, even though it probably came about out of illness. The voice really suits his character and appearance.

I love the collabs with Sorted; they are one of the best cooking channels/companies around nowadays. They are more of a food channel than cooking, because of how much they do with everything revolving around food, production, recipes, cuisines, and even how to improve your skills (and allllll the wonderfully horrible gadgets to use in the kitchen!)
I strongly urge anyone who hasn't watched Sorted to check out any of their travel vlogs (they've recently done a LOT in America,) Cooking Challenges, and the OG series, their Ultimate Battles!
There's a little bit for everyone, and the best part is that everyone on the crew are best mates (Ben, Baz, Mike, & Jamie literally grew up together,) and it feels like a fun-filled family that's filming, rather than a company.
Love them to bits, thanks for bringing Sorted back into Mythical, again!❤

This was the crossover of dreams. There are similar types of RUclipsrs that you sort of expect and anticipate crossovers from and then there are ones that do the same thing but you just don’t “expect” to meet up, and this is the latter for me. Very cool to see this energy

As an American, I have never seen a measuring cup that was not 50% metric. I suppose Mythical Kitchen got them to match their defective stove.
For cajun cooking your mirepoix is made with the holy trinity - onion, celery, and bell pepper. You can’t forget the garlic either, of course. In the words of Isaac Toups “If the Trinity is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the garlic is the Pope.”
It feels so surreal seeing Sorted Food & Mythical Kitchen together but it works so well!

As an Australia, I knew the moment they picked kedgeree that they were going to lose simply by virtue that I don't think Americans simply could compute that kind of dish for breakfast. Doubly so when Max couldn't eat the one with egg.
