The simplest solution is to stop casting unfair contestants. It doesn't make the video enjoyable when there's bad apples in the bunch.
The problem is, if they do it again, the contestants will know that one is theirs and they'll be looking for their own to rate it highly. It was hilarious when they did it the first time though. Truly brilliant.

Technically, even if she gave everyone a fair score like 8, she still would’ve won. The scores would be 19, 20, and 21 if she gave 8 instead of 3, 3, and 2. If she gave a 10 to each, the last one would be the only one to match her score. Hers got 23 so I guess it was tasty despite it not being the correct dish. I do think she judges too harshly.
Honesty, I think she was fair this time. I Understood her ratings this time. She explained what wasn’t doing well and I personally could tell what she was explaining was evident. I tried to calculate what if she scored around 6-8, she would have still won.
Danda is the one I like the most because she is constructive with her criticism and fair. Sonia purposely marks everyone else lower so that she can win. And what she made was NOT a real pastel!!!!

In the region where I live here in Brazil that is called a "Pastel Português", or "Portuguese Pastel", and we sometimes refer to It as just pastel. Futhermore, we wouldn't even call that a "risole", since risoles here need to have a pill shape to be considered risoles (it's kind of how sushi will sometimes take the same ingredients and taste the same but be called different names depending on the way it's rolled). I do think that making a completely different dish goes against the premise of the video, but she did make a pastel, it was just a regional misunderstanding since the country is so big

For example, North of Minas has some cultural difference from sul of Minas. You said you have been all around Brazil, but our country is very big and it's impossible you know everything about it.

I think it might be borrowed from the Portuguese but I am not sure. Like for example words such as bendera (PT: bandeira), mentega (PT:Manteiga). But when it comes to food sometimes it's hard to track its origins because we each have our own versions of some dishes. And better for me because more we have to eat hahaha

I am always surprised when I see Trinidadian foods done differently in other countries we have pastels but only for Christmas and it's a combination of sweet and savory fruit and meat and the wrap is made out of cornmeal. Brazalian pastels seems to be what we call pies which could be either fried or baked

I think we need to blindfold taste test. Most of the ladies were friendly and pretty polite when it came to deciding scores. Sonia might have won fairly, but we will never know because she lowballed her competition into all having low scores. It’s really sad.

Sonia's pastel IS a pastel. It's just a different type. I used to eat Sonia's type of pastel growing up and the dough is similar to the coxinha dough. The other type is also a pastel we eat with sugar cane juice.

You need an impartial judge AND stricter guidelines...for comparison it would be if this was a empanada taste test and someone brought in a gordita. It's not the same thing even if it's similar.

I think when Brazilians try to speak in English, they are always trying to fill the gaps of what they don't know in the language with some nonsense, such as 'if you went to Brazil and didn't eat pastel, you're a loser, sorry.' Im from west africa and we eat pastel too. We dont put cheese but just meat. And we even call it the same: pastel .
Also have Pastelles in parts of the Caribbean but its a bit different. The outside is soft and wrapped in banana leaf. It's usually eaten at Christmas

risole has a thicker dough, a little chewier and is smaller. pastel has a thin fried puff pastry, is crispier and is bigger in size
