58 year old golfer. I went from a 20 handicap to a 13-15 handicap just because of these irons. I feel so much more confident over the ball with these. Wish I would have had these years ago!!

I bought a set of these (4-PW) when I first took an interest in this crazy game a couple years ago based on advice from others and the reviews on RUclips. I've done well with them and couldn't care less what they look like. As a disclaimer, I'm a 61yo disabled/retired US military veteran living in the warm tropics of the Philippines and can golf year round. In just 2 years time, I've already amassed 4 club championships and 5 hole in ones with these clubs, so ya, they are pretty much point and fire away. Like Crossfield said, "like legal cheating".

I bought some of the previous model for my wife to learn golf with. I am playing off a 15 handicap. I tested them on the course with soft ground conditions. I had one of my better rounds ever! They are so easy to hit, accurate and fly high, but not crazy far. I hit the 5 iron 150 m onto the green. I can't hit long irons to save myself ( I game single length hybrids 3,4,5 and 6-GW SL irons) but the HB Launcher hit the green first try.
I see so many ladies and seniors who struggle to launch their irons. No brainer; buy some of these folks.

Few weeks ago you make a real good review of these, I tell you my hesitation to change my epic pro. Last week I had a pretty good deal 4-DW (8 clubs) with the Miyazaki Shaft 6R, for only 300$ CAN (225$ US), for the Cleveland Laucher HB of last year, when you hit this club, it's like an automatic pilot, so easy to launch, and friendly & accurate for chipping... I will reshaft my Epic Pro with a Project X LZ 4.0 A 60g graphite ( replace Nippon N.S.PRO MODUS 3 R too heavy for my 64y ). My only concern now, it's 3 feets of snow on the ground around Montreal.

I always chuckle reading people's opinions on clubs like this. Some people seem to think they're magic wands, others think they're cheating and some just won't even entertain the idea.
The main thing people never mention is that despite being forgiving on slightly fat hits and from off centre hits you still need a good face to path relationship to hit these straight.
I switched from steel shafted ap1's to the previous version of these in a graphite shaft and theres a huge improvement in my iron play. I do believe though that it's mainly due to the shaft change as I really get on well with the lighter graphite.
Looks wise they really don't bother me at all, I use a one length hybrid and these blend into it nicely. I don't notice the thick top line, the chrome bit, at all. The biggest positive with the looks is that they're not massively offset. I find these much better to look down on compared to most clubs aimed at golfers like me.

I've played Cleveland CG1 tour irons with light Nippon steel shafts for a decade and they are fantastically well made clubs. I'd never judge Cleveland or Wilson as below the standard of supposedly more desirable brands, who spend (waste?) 70% of the retail price of every club on marketing costs.

Thanks for the review. I have an older set of the HB and plan to purchase these shortly. I use these because honestly I could not hit traditional irons. These made the game fun and in the end that is why we play the game. Before I found the HB line I would find myself in the middle of the golf coarse thinking I paid to be this aggravated and mad. Fitted for these last month. They are great irons. During fitting we tried Wilson launch pad and cobra T rail, but numbers were better for me with HB. I also liked the feel and sound of HB better. Paired them with CBX wedges, but did get the HB gap wedge. It’s my favorite wedge, great for chipping.

I was able to hit through the whole set with trackman at a Cleveland/Srixon Demi day. I hit everything straight with no leaking. I say that because I just finished hitting the Srixon 565’s which I did have a little fade going on with the 5 iron. They’re both great irons but the turbo’s were more suitable for my slower swing speed. The HB’s were great while chipping.

I've had these now for two months, playing four rounds a week. These are the best irons I've ever played, and I've been playing for 48 years. They hit laser beam straight, and the only way I can hit them thin or fat is if I look down range halfway through my swing. I don't know if they can shape a shot well, because I haven't tried. I don't have to shape my shots with these to avoid trouble, I aim right at the pin every time and they never fail to deliver.

Thank you very much for the video. Just turned 64 and needed help to get the ball up. Always was a big fan of Cleveland wedges. I got very excited to try to give these a go. First problem, could not find a retailer or pro shop to try them out in my area. Second problem, before I make any big purchase I call customer service to see how they respond. Well, 2 phone calls 3 emails they finally got back to me 4 days later. That made my decision to move on. Looks like It will be Ping G425 or Mizuno JPX921 for me.

If you,ve a slightly slower swing or struggle to get air bourne,id highly recommend you give them a bash.

48 year old playing at 8HC…just put them in the bag. Have the XL 5 wood (never played any woods, always long irons, but love the 5 wood), XL 4-6-8-PW, Cleveland chipper…yes, I play only half a bag, really has helped my game…my big miss was leaving it short of the green with a full set. Now I have 20 yard gaps, so I just choke down or swing 70% if I need something in between. Anyway, been playing Cobra one lengths for years and tried these at the PGA store and couldn’t believe how easy they are to hit. I think the counterbalance grip is magical, or mental…with these irons my swing tempo is so smooth. Ordered a SW and am going to go test the driver to see if it can uproot my beloved PXG 0211 driver. I don’t mind the look, don’t care how they look, only care how they perform and they are money. First round with them today and shot a 76 with several missed putts, no missed iron shots.

I have seen these in the shop and I do agree with you in that the back end really disappears when you set it down. I was a bit shocked at how much better they looked than expected. I’m not ready to game this style of club just yet but if my game and or physical condition were to deteriorate to the point that these would help me, then I absolutely would. I game a Cleveland Launcher HB driver and have gamed their wedges (not currently) so I’m a bit of a fan. Another solid video.

I think for a 20+ handicap they are a no brainer. The launch will inspire confidence. I personally would not game them because I like hitting traditional irons and I think they'd be difficult to flight down in the wind. I have a set of the HBores from way back when. When you hit them right, they feel great. I gave a whopping 120 dollars for mine. I switch them in and out of the bag. One thing I did with mine was to sandblast the paint of of them. They tended to chip the paint off each other while in the bag. I layed down a coat of clear on them and no worries any more. The ball doesnt care what hits them. If you have the pure abiilty, makes no diff what clubs you use.

I'm playing off 16 and struggle quite a bit with 4-6 irons especially off tight, hard lies (a feature of many Australian courses) so I would consider these in the longer irons, but I worry that I'd really struggle to get back to more traditional irons if I wanted a change in a couple of years.

Good reviews like this always comment on the performance and forgiveness of the HB, so I thought I'd give them a try at a recent Cleveland demo day. They didn't disappoint. My existing irons just couldn't match the consistency in distance, spin and dispersion of the HB. Their look was a bit weird to start with, but by the end of the session it was oddly reassuring. So I've become a member of the ever increasing number of "Cleveland Converts" and ordered HB irons along with some CBX2 wedges to compliment the set. Looking forward to getting out there and enjoying my golf again.

I looooove my HB Turbo (ladies) so forgiving and consistent, nothing but Cleveland in the bag... HB Launcher Turbo Driver (12deg), Halo 2 Hybrid, HB Launcher Turbo 5 Wood, a CBX 50 wedge, my putter and these babies... HB Launcher Turbo Irons! (Irons in 6 to 9, PW, SW). The looks aren’t even noticeable on the course for me, they look like a typical iron and the black just looks like a shadow in the grass, to be honest it’s about how well they perform... such an underrated brand Cleveland is, but I love the reasonable pricing of them (not spending extras on adjustable hosel and weight bolts you just don’t need therefore making them more affordable...). I wouldn’t use anything else!! Quality and consistency, it’s a no brainer!! Brush your egos aside and get your hands on these babies!!

I'd love to play this style of iron. I've always liked hitting hybrids and as a 13 hc anything that would help me be more confident consistent and maybe even gain distance it's a no brainer for me. Only problem for me is I've no real way of testing this style out on the course. Great content Andy keep um coming

Most stores have a 30-day return policy, you can try these on the course and then just trade them back in for something else if you don't like them....just make sure you ask about the return policy before you buy. I like playing hybrids also, so this was an easy decision for me.........and they are terrific.

What’s the problem here? Do these clubs improve your performance? If so play them !I have an old set of Nikent Genix 3DX oversize iron that help me a lot as they are very similar idea - so I agree ” give them a go ”

I couldn't use them, they look strange. The 6 looks like a strong lofted chipper. For the right golfer though, I bet they work very well

Good work as ever Andy - Like the Wilsons you tested, I'd have to have them "On Trial" for a while before I'd swap out my Titleists. That's the issue with innovative equipment - you have to be brave (or desperate!) to dive in without thorough investigation of the product. Like you, I'd be curious about the wedge - might require variations in technique or play it like a chipper.

I've got a set from 5 to SW, I've kept the GW in the bag but took the SW out and replaced it with Callaway PM Grind wedge for more versatility.

For amateurs there are 3 words that are so important ( golf is hard ), so any technical help is usually the help we need to enjoy this crazy game we all love. I'm taking a look at these, the older I get the lower and shorter the ball goes, these clubs look to help over come the assault of Father Time somewhat. Good video, thanks.

I played the previous HB Launcher loved them great for control but I dropped them because of distance. They were really easy to hit and control, maybe the Turbo will help me with a little bit more distance?

'Could you? Would you?' Yes and yes. It works, it's easy and there are no real downsides. The main resistance comes from people who can't get over innovation that they do not recognize.

I am jumping back into golf after a long layoff, and considering these. Big question is how they perform against other bi brands most forgiving sets??? Also, i heard a few reviewers say if you like a more sweeping swing approach they may be a good fit?
