Hi mate i have a question what if you cant hear that pumping sound ? It was there before after battery died i dont hear it any more no issues with car thanks
Your gear position sensor harness insulation is probably falling off & wires are touching. I’d pull the trans & re-rap all the wires individually & check previous work. I’ve never herd a smg pump prime that long & reach such a low rpm as if it was struggling. Good luck.
I replaced the transmission with a used unit. I can only guess that the issue was the solenoid assembly that sits on top of the transmission which is silly money to replace, cheaper to buy a used SMG transmission
I have the same code on my m5 as well but it doesn’t grind and shifts perfectly fine. When I drive it hard then the transmission light comes on and wouldn’t move for a bit then drives fine I also have a code for the pressure sensor , could that be my issue ?
Did you test the accumulator pressure ? On my side, I've got the same noise, but the problem is due to first gear lock. Impossible for me to switch to another gear or on neutral... I tried pump pressure, it's ok, accumulator pressur, it's ok. I've got problem with solenoide clutch learn, i've got a message "exceeding the time allowed when finding the crossing of the valves'. Keep searching !
Here is what is interesting, when the pressure is on the higher side it works fine, but for whatever reason the pump either cannot keep up or something and once the pressure drops after a shift or two its stuck. I actually have another E60 M5 with a working SMG transmission. I am going to swap accumulators and see if that fixes it 1st
@@macoh3115 If the pressure is going down to fast, so the accumulator could be KO, if you have ista/rehingold, you can trying the pressure of the accumulator to check this one.
@@macoh3115 bro the reason, you mentioned in the video , that you serviced everything , these units have extreme pressure , the who serviced it ,he destroyed the original solonoide valve seals behind the pump , only a new unit can solve it, or a highly trained staff

@@macoh3115 sooner or later you need to fix it and surprisingly the clutch on these fast worn out even with low miles and the flywheel need to be change also.
So mine was working perfectly fine. But leaked from the slave, took it to a shop to have that replaced. The shopped messed up my gear selector harness and threw out some codes now replacing that harness and it says 1/r redundant so might do the actuators but im sure mine is just the harness. Just bought a complete smg unit from a guy who seems to only have pressure issues. What codes is that one throwing? Lets link it to a specific part and i can see if i have that spare part and could have it shipped to you. I got the trans as a spare from a paint job deal. The spare smg unit i paid 600$ came complete from a 75k mile car so it should be good
@@macoh3115 This may be late but it's always welcome to me when I get some closure on this type of thing. The first red flag was the pressure drop. It's a sealed, pressurized system. Losing 5psi in seconds is excessive unless it's a relief setting, and you can check that by watching the pressure over a period of time. If it is a leak you're probably looking at the accumulator unless you can find an actual hydraulic leak in the lines or actuator. If it's none of those things the pump is likely the culprit. Ultimately it is the pumps job to keep up with system demands, the accumulator provides supplemental (reserve) pressure for operation when the pump isn't operating. This should help, or at least I hope it does. Good luck, SMG's are a patient mans project..
