It seems like Dowden had his list of electioneering sound bite points to make and he was determined to get them in, irrespective of the question he was asked. Scripted nonsense with no ability or agility to think on his feet and respond to the debating points put to him.

2 months ago my daughter and boyfriend were issued a section 21 on their rented house, after 2 years of paying £750/month.
The last 7 weeks have been awful. If only they realise the stress they are putting young professional people through. Both in full time jobs.

Well, I was a teenage Mum and I worked hard to keep a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. I was 16 too but I did a wonderful job with my daughter, she's a fantastic, hard working Mum herself now. I started work as a night cleaner and ended up assistant manager of a complex for people with mental health issues. Angela Rayner pulled herself up by her bootstraps, just like I did, and I'm proud of us both!
Anything is a better role model than someone who's born into wealth, for those that aren't.
