    just an opinion, but I think you should use medium (or even low) presets whenever the computer you're testing doesn't achieve playable framerates at the higher settings so people know what they can actually run, because knowing that it can run tomb raider at 9fps on ultimate doesnt tell us it can run at playable framerates on any of the lower settings. Consider making this change on your next pc testing videos.

    • @brunodays
      @brunodays 10 лет назад

      Thomas Wilson well, 1080p has kind of become a standard. But sure, why not. You could play in windowed mode so, yeah

    • @lucjeeh
      @lucjeeh 10 лет назад

      MrBDayz Well yeah for computer gaming it's the standard nowadays. But even the "Next Gen" console's aren't even running 1080p. At 900p it would be a much better comparison between those two in my opinion.

    • @Techoftomorrow
      @Techoftomorrow  10 лет назад +5

      Like I said we are changing the way we test, but we already have tested systems using our old ways and we have one more before we change.

    • @brunodays
      @brunodays 10 лет назад

      Tech of Tomorrow ah, cool =)
      and Luc Smeets if you want to compare it to the consoles, then yes, 900p would be the res. to go.

      Yeah but 2005 soon came around the corner and 10k was obsolete and 20k was the new standard. I had to sell mine as this thing couldn't play ultra at that res above 60 fps. I was getting about 40-50fps and i swear i could see the frames refreshing so i sold it.

      Daniel Tevi Man can't believe I never thought about that! I got the Gigabyte Brix 2.0 and i still noticed the refresh rate but it wasn't as obvious. I had to live with it as the pc cost me 100k! Worth the price when you are getting a intel celeron 1019Y @1ghz, 250gb HDD, 1gb ddr and 4 gtx 980's. Sure there was some bottlenecks but man was this pc a beast m8!

  • @TehHaxingDiamond

    I just don't understand why you wouldn't optimize the settings in the games... Its not meant to be playing the lastest titles at 1080p highest settings.

  • @NoName-qq8ri
    @NoName-qq8ri 9 лет назад

    I have three GigaByte Brix PC's, the smallest one is around the same height/width of a Mcdonalds Big Mac only squared and has an I3 CPU and built in mini projector. You can hook the thing up to a TV or monitor or use it with the projector, then lastly you can power off the PC completely and hook any other device up to it via HDMI and use it as a mini projector.
    The other two Brix are the exact same size as the one shown here, one of them is coloured red and the other green. The red one uses an AMD APU with 8gb of DDR3 as well as a separate discrete AMD GPU with 2gb GDDR5. The GPU has slightly less stream processors than XB1 however it runs 160mhz faster which puts it on par with XB1 in performance which is amazing for something that's smaller than a 360 controller. The green one uses a mobile Intel I5 with 8gb of DDR3 and a custom Kepler GPU with 1344 shaders and 6gb of GDDR5 which makes it around twice as powerful as the XB1 and close to 2x the performance of PS4 which I think is amazing as these things fit in the palm of your hand and shorter than a 360 controller and 2 and a bit inches tall.
    This Brix is more designed for office work as it has a CPU four times more powerful than the PS4 or XB1's CPU's however the GPU is quite a bit weaker although it would be able to play these games shown here at 30fps if you lowered the settings to high/medium instead of ULTRA. So more an office PC however there are certain games that would run well on it like Dota2 or League of Legends as not all games need to have demanding visuals like Star Citizen.
    I love them as they are really unique however if you have the space you are better getting a desktop, I game on a desktop with an i7 5820k and TitanX

  • @AIMIWA95

    You know, provided you have a 720p tv, this could actually be a pretty decent steam machine. Shove steam OS on it and lower the settings down and you have something that will play most games at 30+ fps on your tv, which is all any other console seems to do, so you get console quality gaming but with access to all the pc exclusives in a very small form factor. I like it. Depending upon the price, which won't be cheap considering the i7 in there...

    You COULD Essentially lose the wifi card (use ethernet) freeing up the express bus to hook up an External GPU kit with like a gt750 and play those games at 1080p high or even ultra settings. Just shows you how much farther we'll go when heat, and cores are improved---actually cores is not a factor--HEAT is.

    They should dump the Intel 5200 IGP and use a mobile gaming embedded GPU like the GTX 960m or 965m. That would be plenty powerful enough to run every modern game at reasonable detail at 1080p and run cool as well. And where the heck is the CPU? Mounted underneath the motherboard?

    With the evolution of PC's, do you think that external GPU's are going to become a thing in the future?
    I personally think it would be a fantastic thing to see a small computer/laptop which could play games at higher quality with a workable frame-rate.
    Just the thought or having an external GPU slot with it's own power supply would be an amazing thing to see.

Yeah this thing's not gonna run bf4 on ultra at 4k (obviously). This PC is good for casual gamers who want to play classic games or have a chat in Skype or just people who want to use it for general use. It's size is a plus as well as you don't have the stress of carrying an additional bag around with you.

    *Edit*: Oh and btw., it looks like the perfect unit to use one of those (Western Digital) HDDs, which have the SSD slapped-onto the main disk (two-in-one).
    P.S. For example, found this: "In comparison to the HD 4000, the graphics core has been modified extensively. The Iris Pro supports DirectX 11.1, OpenCL 1.2 and OpenGL 4.0. It also features an improved decoder for 4K videos and the fast Quick Sync encoder."

    Just curious about Intel Iris Pro performance for gaming. By looking at the benchmark result, it's likely not for gaming. Perhaps it's better for video/graphic editing?

    if you can't play on high settings that doesn't mean that the pc is bad for gaming,try putting it on medium,i never had a dual core processor,and this guy says that the quad core i7 is bad for gaming..

    I would have liked to see how some of those games would have faired on low/720p gaming.

    You're paying $700 for a non working system! It doesn't come with ram, nor a hdd/sdd. Even a $599 Mac Mini will come with 4gb of Ram and 500gb hdd, Ready out of the box. Plus the Mini's power supply is built into the system, not a "wall-wart".

    why would you put it up to highest setttings, even my £800 pc cant run some of these games maxed out 1080p. it should be compared more to console grade settings so like low to medium.

    Wow... $400-600 for this. My first PC build was just under $500 and could run almost any game at 720-1080p at least 60fps. Games like LoL and DOTA ran at about 120fps. This is a major rip off even for a media PC.
