Steven Fick, It's a surprise to her fans that there is anyone left who enjoys listening to music who has NOT heard her SING this song. That's a good thing, though, 'cause they can still get to have their first impression of it, which can be fun to watch.
Martina is great. She came out with this right after I left my abusive husband. I lived every word. I love her for this song cause it gives people an in depth look on the dangers and damage of verbal and psychological abuse. The pain is real. When he knew he couldn't physically hurt me cause I fought back he found that he could damage me psychology. I got away from him 7 years ago and I'm doing just fine. To those who read this and are dealing with this now. Stay strong and move forward. It does get better with time. Love and God bless. ❤
Hey, if you’re gonna do occasional country, might I recommend going bit back, and hitting a “super-group”? The Highwaymen (Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash) and their eponymously named song “Highwayman”. It talks about the lives of various people throughout history, and their untimely deaths. It’s a small sampling of four of the best in the business from the 60’s-90’s eras.
moose6667, I love that song, especially the ending. open.spotify.com/track/3BmcfKWiJOfURa9PI1jFr4?si=0AmXKmn2TUysDe4Q6_aBjQ%232:07 Or ruclips.net/video/aFkcAH-m9W0/видео.html#t=02m12s
Thats why i laugh when people make fun of Country music. Some of the greatest singers of all time were and are country artists. Country takes actual skill.
Exactly the same. I just found them today and have watched many videos already. Most others just react with no substance. These guys break down lyrics and the feeling of the songs. Loving it
There's a channel with twins you should ck out. 19,20 ish. They are good. I'm 51 and luv watching these two. They first time hear old tunes. They get it!! Black young men.
Martina has one of the most beautiful & amazing voices in the industry. Her range is flawless and the way she can hold a note forever(lol) is just sheer perfection. You need to check out all of her songs. She never does a bad one. Love your channel!

Saw Martina at my Delaware State Fair 10 yrs ago.. she was beyond amazing.. and for her encore.. she did fricking Journey.. one of the best concerts I've ever been to.. this woman can sang..
Great pick guys! Yes this is definitely real country. Martina McBride got her start to fame when her husband was working on the sound crew for Garth Brooks and Garth gave her an opening spot on his tour in 1990. Just a little info about the verse with the letter and the curtain blowing in the breeze. It was meant to be left open to the interpretation of the listener. You could take it as she left and escaped the abusive relationship or that she jumped out the window committing suicide. It's funny that your initial reaction was that she got outta there and that even when I was a young kid listening to this I thought she jumped out the window. Don't know what that says about me 😜 . But anyways I really love that you guys really listen to the lyrics and try to break them down and make sense of them. As usual you guys are awesome. #freethinkers
Martina is criminally underrated but the truth is she is up there with the best in terms of control and depth of her voice. From Independence Day to Concrete Angel, she really lets her range go.
Haha I keep trying to recommend them Southern Gothic dark stuff too. Keep pushing those titles :-) (Maybe I should add "Two Black Cadillacs" while I'm at it.)
Martina sings a lot of serious songs with her gorgeous voice. Independence Day-physical abuse; concrete angel has the same theme. This one was about mental abuse, so many great songs. Gods will is about children and how they deal with disabilities. Country music tells a story, I like that about it.
My dad and I drove 6 hours to see Martina perform for his 55th birthday and you could tell she was super sick but she still SLAYED her vocals and the entire performance!
The whole time you guys where commenting on her voice or way the song was being sung, I was o er here like, “Just wait. You just wait. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!” LOL!!! Very cool reaction and I’m so glad you guys liked it!!! 💙💙💙
For those of us who managed to walk away from domestic violence this song speaks to our pain, that pain we endure to this day, that's how real this song is to myself and many fans
Holy shit a request answered! Lol y’all are dope as fuck. How about a slightly more upbeat country track? “You Never Called Me By My Name” -David Allen Coe. Great track, highly recommend!
Very refreshing hearing yalls take on songs that I’ve listened to and appreciated for decades. It makes me think about the songs in a different light. And yea, Martina can belt it
Nice reaction guys as always! Country covers a wide range of sounds, you have the bluesy side, the "churchy side", rockabilly, traditional there is a wide variety. Martina is very strong on the faith side. Would still love to see you do "Boy Named Sue" - Johnny Cash. Johnny had a mix of sounds from "Outlaw" Country to gospel to straight traditional. Congrats on the steady climb in subs!!! If any on the YT deserve it it's you guys.
Very nice! Solid choice and a song that I have not heard in a long time. Fly on! Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - "Fishin' in the Dark" another country song to check out!
Country music is often so great at story telling. A song I would highly recommend and would absolutely love seeing you guys react to is Seven Spanish Angels by Willie Nelson featuring Ray Charles. Thanks for the frequent videos, keep grinding FREE THINKERS
Maaaaan, this is the hardest genre of music, for me to get on board with, and I've been dodging these videos, as I run back through your library of content...That said, I'm starting to believe the two of you do an excellent job of cutting through some of my bullshit biases, and highlight the greatness I'd miss out on, otherwise. Keep on killin it, guys! P.S. - I can't wait to see your Cemetery Gates reaction. Y'all know you can avoid Pantera, for too much longer! Hahaha
I’m so glad you guys chose this song! I don’t think female country singers get as much positive publicity and attention the deserve! She’s an amazing singer and great example of a female country artist.
For most of her career, Martina has been called "The Celine Dion of Country Music". I know that's meant as a compliment, but it sells her short. I'd say more like the "Floor Jansen (Nightwish) of Country Music"! Her best (technically speaking) vocal performance is the song "Where Would You Be". Check out the live version- pitch perfect, shows off her insane vocal range and sustains numeous notes for longer than most mere mortals ever could! She has commented that it's the most difficult song for her to sing live. BTW, the Live version of the video is the most impressive!
You guys hit 200k ‼️ *wipes proud tear from eye* I remember when u were just starting out, Ryan had a full head of long flowing hair. George with the braces and pony tail.
Been a long time Martina McBride fan from the 1st time i heard her in the 90s. No one can bring it like this little Country gal. She will totally blow you away w/her vocals:) Just saw her again last year.
I love how much you guys respect the music and the storytelling. People love to hate country music but so many of the artists really know how to tell a story and explain life in a simple way.
You really need to listen to Forgive by Rebecca Lynn Howard It's not well known but so raw, so real. "Forgive, that's a mighty big word for such a small man."
Wow! Most people say country is there least favourite music style, I did when I was a child, as my Dad played the crap out of it :) Now that I'm older, and have had pain, misery and awesome times all together, country music speaks to me. Still a rock/metal head at heart, but man, I'm a free thinker now too, and appreciate music of all types, as even though it may not connect emotivally with me, it will for someone, and that is the power of music :D
Yeah me too! Have listened to a lot of his songs, from Folsom Prison Blues, up to his last songs where he did a lot of covers, like Hurt, and Mercy Seat. His sound was so powerful.
I love Martina and she has so many wonderful songs. Independence Day, Anyway, Wrong Again and Where Would You Be are my favorites. For laughs, try When God-Fearin' Women Get the Blues, it's a hoot.
If you want suggestions on more country women then try The Judds (Grandpa) or Kathy Mattea (18 wheels and a dozen roses) or real old school, anything from Patsy Cline.
Martina McBride is one of my favorite country singers. A good voice is a good voice no matter the music genre and you recognized that. If you ever decide to do more country try Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder and Lead". I like that it's a female empowerment message without bashing men in general. I'm from Maine and there's definitely some gunpowder and lead in me the past two years. The Walmart here in Augusta had a shooting on 6/26/16 involving three out of state (NY) drug dealers and I have never been more scared and helpless as I was that day. I however found that strength in me to confront one of the dealers who was backing up alongside the vehicle me and my kids were in, and I must have looked like a banshee jumping out of the vehicle, unarmed, to scream at him and put myself between him and my children. You don't have to have a gun in your hand to have that steely nerve and determination she has in the song, but I think its important to teach our girls that they too can be that fierce.
The reason you here so much Blues is because that's where it really comes from. The king of country music is Hank Williams Sr. He was taught by a black blues singer name Rufus Payne at the age of 9 how to play. Go listen to a song by him the Lost Highway or Lovesick Blues. You'll see where it all came from. But if I could suggest a song, probably one of the saddest songs ever written it would be George Jones's He Stopped Loving Her Today. Just a thought for the next time you guys do some more country. Love what y'all do keep up the good work
Thanks for going back to some country. If you are interested in doing something more recent I’d suggest Kacey Musgraves. She’s an artist that gets respect from old school fans, and younger fans, but doesn’t quite fit the mainstream mold. So basically the J Cole of country. I’d recommend Merry Go Round or Are you sure? Ft. Willie Nelson
Just to help you out, here are your next ten female country reactions ;-) Emmylou Harris - Boulder to Birmingham (best female country voice ever) Sugarland - Baby Girl (most powerful female country voice ever along with Martina perhaps) Alison Krauss - When You Say Nothing At All (Alison Krauss's voice is like pure light) Miranda Lambert - The House that Built Me (the lyrics) Loretta Lynn - Coal Miner’s Daughter (the lyrics) Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance (maybe cheesy, but still good) Rosanne Cash and Johnny Cash - September When It Comes (Rosanne Cash is her own genre) Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces (Country fans may still want to kill them, but you can't deny the talent) Dolly Parton - Little Sparrow (Dolly is Dolly) Shania Twain - You’re Still the One (He isn't) Neko Case - Star Witness (I don't think country fans would call this country, but...) After that, you need to get to Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, etc.
Martina has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard! An easy way to compare is to listen to artists' Christmas albums. Her voice is so clean and crisp. Pure and clear. One of my all time favorite songs of hers is "Wrong Again". Do yourself a favor and give it a listen. Heartbreakingly beautiful...
Martina McBride is an absolute powerhouse of a singer. Saw her for the first time back in 1992 when she had just been discovered by Garth Brooks, selling T-shirt’s on tour for him, and he had her as his opening act. It was in a small venue up in Bangor, Maine, this tiny woman came out on stage, and you almost expected some soft, diminutive voice to come out, and she absolutely blew the roof off that place. The Time Has Come and Cheap Whiskey were two songs that earned her an immediate notch on my favorite female country artists ever. And she’s only gotten better with time. This song really does showcase some of her best abilities vocally, but another one that I can recommend off that same album, “Evolution”, is Whatever You Say. Her range gets crazy in that.
Martina can flat out SANG! one of the most powerful voices in country. How bout a little Reba "fancy"? Who's with me?
Da Realist Martina could sing the phone book and the people would listen!!! And yes! Reba is amazing I would love to see that reaction
Definitely! Reba is such a legend. I support this suggestion 💯
Loooove Reba especially fancy
Da Realist I agree with you on reba fancy. That name I will always carry with me since my grandpa gave me it as a nickname.
Fancy is one of my all time favorite songs! Love Reba
Just saw her lastnight live and she still sings this just like it sounds in this video.
You picked an excellent artist, guys. Martina can belt a song. You liked that one, you should hear her song, “Independence Day.”
I seen her in concert and when she hit that last " FLY " i'm telling you it sit me on my ass in total amazement. lol
Yes. Another good one from Martina is "Whatever You Say."
Yesssss
dortonm that’s awesome. I saw her way back in the early ‘90s when she opened for a little artist on his first tour.. guy was named Garth Brooks. 😁
"Concrete Angel" simply for the cry factor.
I literally just listened to this song…and then came across this reaction..love it guys.
That song should be in everyone’s playlist
Martina McBride is a legendary voice in country music.
She really is a gift! Sing the h*ll out of the phone book.
Steven Fick,
It's a surprise to her fans that there is anyone left who enjoys listening to music who has NOT heard her SING this song. That's a good thing, though, 'cause they can still get to have their first impression of it, which can be fun to watch.
She is/ was a MONSTER!
"Independence day" is a VERY emotional song
Excellent one!!
Martina is great. She came out with this right after I left my abusive husband. I lived every word. Watch her perform Where Would You Be live at the CMA Awards. It's stunning!!!
Martina’s “Where Would You Be” live version will blow you away!
You guys should react to Whiskey Lullaby by Alison Krauss and Brad Paisley. It's definitely country and Alison has the voice of an angel.
Tywithay but it's the most depressing some I've ever heard
Sadest but most beautiful songs ever
I love that song so beautiful but so sad at the same time.
You gotta work up to that
Martina McBride “Independence Day”. Amazing.
This song is powerful. Really styled her voice off and suck a great message.

Amen ...
Because new country is a absolute joke as is all new music. And these young mofos would rather here jibberesh to a shitty beat.
I normally despise react channels but you guys seem genuinely interested and sincere with your commentary. Had to sub. Keep it up my dudes. ;)
Yes, just discovered them today and have watched 12-14 songs already. Very thoughtful - very real!

the most underrated power singer of all time in any genre

I always thought she committed suicide. I never even considered an alternative...
Yeah, I allays thought she committed suicide as well.
Nicole Miller , It was George Strait, not Garth Brooks.
Candice's Choice Her husband worked on Garth Brooks’ crew.
i considered suicide only after I was older. I always initially heard it as she left him. Changed everything when someone said it was suicide.
You guys should listen to remember when by Alan Jackson. It is such a great song
Or Gone country..
Alan is such a great country singer. And remember when is probably nr 1 or 2 on my list of his songs.
Here in the real world
Midnight in Montgomery
Bluesman would be a lot better
Martina is criminally underrated but the truth is she is up there with the best in terms of control and depth of her voice. From Independence Day to Concrete Angel, she really lets her range go.
Independence Day is a song she sang beautifully 👍👍👍
You guys should react to Alisson Kraus & the Union Station. Its more old school country called Bluegrass. Give it a shot!
Reba McEntire - Fancy
Reba McEntire - The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia
Martina McBride - Independence Day
Haha I keep trying to recommend them Southern Gothic dark stuff too. Keep pushing those titles :-) (Maybe I should add "Two Black Cadillacs" while I'm at it.)
Kristin Carter Martina McBride- Concrete Angel 👌
Whatever you do, don't watch the music video for The Night the Lights Went Out .... it's like a mini-movie and they talk over the whole song
TWO WORDS.
THE JUDDS
I was about to recommend "Fancy". The other ones are really good, too.
I like Ryan and George's country reactions the best.
Martina sings a lot of serious songs with her gorgeous voice. Independence Day-physical abuse; concrete angel has the same theme. This one was about mental abuse, so many great songs. Gods will is about children and how they deal with disabilities. Country music tells a story, I like that about it.

Martina is amazing, love her music. Her voice is so powerful!
Martina McBride is a great singer. Country music is real.
Holy shit a request answered! Lol y’all are dope as fuck. How about a slightly more upbeat country track? “You Never Called Me By My Name” -David Allen Coe. Great track, highly recommend!
Yeah there are definitely some David Allan Coe songs they need to stay away from LOL
tman12ghostrider it’s a fun, upbeat classic drinkin-with-your-pals country track. I have faith lol
Good song but DAC is rascist as fuck. Separate the beleifs from the artist/music and yeah, Jack Daniels is another good one...
I second this choice
yessss
Very refreshing hearing yalls take on songs that I’ve listened to and appreciated for decades. It makes me think about the songs in a different light. And yea, Martina can belt it

One of the best voices in country! And you wouldn't know it but she's only 5'4"! Watch a live performance of her!
Martina is pure country. Voice of an angel. This song is emotional and I can’t see how you can listen to it without crying. it’s raw

I love your guys attitude and the way you appreciate music.. keep rocking fellas
One of my top country artists, her pipes are wow and she's such a cool person too. This is my favorite song by her.
For most of her career, Martina has been called "The Celine Dion of Country Music". I know that's meant as a compliment, but it sells her short. I'd say more like the "Floor Jansen (Nightwish) of Country Music"!

I dearly love listening to you two guys. You tell it like it is no matter the song or genre. Kudos to you both.
Martina is country royalty, crazy how little she's brought up nowadays but she's been low key for awhile. Also prettiest eyes in the industry.
Love this song, I sang it for talent show once. And to answer your question, yes It is real country
can't get much more country than martina!
If you want suggestions on more country women then try The Judds (Grandpa) or Kathy Mattea (18 wheels and a dozen roses) or real old school, anything from Patsy Cline.
Patty Lovelace!!
I need them to do Tricia Yearwood's Walk away Joe
The Judd's "Grandpa" is amazing ❤ I really wish they would do it.
Oooh, I forgot about Kathy Mattea....love that song!!
GRANDPA 😍
Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty!
One of my favorite songs I love love love Martina McBride her and Reba are my absolute favorite female singers
Amazing voice. I'd listen to her sing anything, anywhere, anytime. Simply amazing singer.
She's one of my faves and she has some of the most beautiful eyes God ever created

Wow.... I have been watching these guys on all the music under the sun and they are the best out here PERIOD.....
Y'all gotta react to Whiskey Lullaby.
Please do whatever you say. It will blow you away! Play list stuff.
Martina is one of my all time favorite singers.
I'm a huge fan of country music and Martina McBride is one of my favorites. Amazing voice.
You guys should react to more Chris Stapleton. Preferably “Parachute” and “Fire away”
Chase Mundell or Either Way
Just to help you out, here are your next ten female country reactions ;-)
Emmylou Harris - Boulder to Birmingham (best female country voice ever)
Sugarland - Baby Girl (most powerful female country voice ever along with Martina perhaps)
Alison Krauss - When You Say Nothing At All (Alison Krauss's voice is like pure light)
Miranda Lambert - The House that Built Me (the lyrics)
Loretta Lynn - Coal Miner’s Daughter (the lyrics)
Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance (maybe cheesy, but still good)
Rosanne Cash and Johnny Cash - September When It Comes (Rosanne Cash is her own genre)
Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces (Country fans may still want to kill them, but you can't deny the talent)
Dolly Parton - Little Sparrow (Dolly is Dolly)
Shania Twain - You’re Still the One (He isn't)
Neko Case - Star Witness (I don't think country fans would call this country, but...)
After that, you need to get to Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, etc.
VogonPoet67 Emmy Lou Harris “ leavin Louisiana in the broad daylight”
Oh yes, The House that Built Me is a must listen!
Reba or Carrie Underwood would be great choices. Great vocals and strong beautiful women.
Matthew Drake Fancy would be great
Carrie with Vince Gill on How Great Thou Art!
