Mindy Hanson yes ma’am!!! I feel this way about a ton of their videos, actually. Being here in Nashville and seeing the love in general across the country for Chris Stapleton makes me happy baseline but they are such a shining light in their genuine love for all things quality and creative. Amazing.
Ditto all the other comments. I'm an older white guy. When I saw 2 black guys giving a reaction to Tennessee Whiskey pop up on my feed, well I had to watch. I don't subscribe to a lot. This is one of my favorite LIV video's and I come back to watch occasionally. The one thing that does not get enough credit is most of Stapleton's songs is the role his wife plays with the background vocals. Chris Stapleton is the real deal. He has so much soul. He is has an incredible voice and is an amazing songwriter and guitarist although he didn't write Tennessee Whiskey. What I also love about him is during his concerts he can't seem to take his eyes off of his wife who performs with him. You can see the love he has for her. Beautiful. Loved your reaction!
If you catch some of Stapleton early shows on RUclips, his wife is usually singing with him and she is an amazing singer also. She deserves her own acknowledgements.
I was introduced to this song a year or so ago and he shot right up into my playlist, one hell of a song and one hell of a voice. You FEEL every note and the heart he puts into every word. Gives me goosebumps!
Just so you guys know, these reaction videos you're doing on here go much further then "reactions" on cam. When I scroll down to read the comments I see people of all races, religions, etc all being open minded to different cultures. I appreciate you guys for doing something real on your channel.
You said it better than I could. Two self-proclaimed hip hop heads just introduced a white metal head into the best country song he's ever heard! It almost sounds like Al Green or Sam Cook. I can't believe how great this song is, and I love this channel. I came for the Megadeth and stayed for the country.
I have a suggestion for a song reaction. "midnight in harlem" by the Tedeschi Trucks band. the lead singer and the guitarist are married and each had their own band then brought them together and formed this band. theyre a multi racial band so everyone brings their own style. listen to the first 30 seconds and it will speak for its self. I know you get a ton of requests but i'd love to see you guys react to this and really feel this beautiful song :-)
I first heard Tennessee Whiskey when Mr. Stapleton and Mr. Timberlake collabed on the CMA Awards. Been a fan of Timberlake since day one but became an instant fan of Stapleton and his soulful voice from that moment on. That was 2015 and I still return to watch the perfomance every now and then. To see Keith Urban and all the other country music stars sing along to both of the artist's songs was awesome! 💕💕💕💕💕
@@lordblue223 I totally agree on that. I just think it’s a great song to open the door and because of its blues qualities tied in with country I think a lot more people would be receptive to trying other country music.
This song brought me to your channel. I subscribed and have been down the Lost In Vegas rabbit hole for a few weeks now. Never thought that would happen but I'm glad it did! You guys are bringing people together from different musical tastes and communities by being genuine, positive, open, funny, and just yourselves. Keep it up!!
“Down the lost in Vegas rabbit hole” is the perfect summary for what happened when I first checked these guys out. Outstanding channel y’all. Outstanding.
When you all say stuff like “these are the runs we know” etc. these are the runs I know, I’m a white guy from Kentucky and I love country music. My point is we’re more alike than people think. I loved this video guys keep it up
Papa Arthritis I concur. Though absolutely beautiful, I just by coincidence played “Rather Go Blind” by Etta James right after this and the chills and likeness were unreal!
Its packaged as country? Jesus H Christ. If you opened your mind you would know that humans all have soul and when its poured into music with emotion, we all sound pretty much the same. And always have...HUMAN its not a race thing.
@@christinezehnle7552 If you opened YOUR eyes, you would see I never mentioned a word about race. I referred to GENRE. The vocal stylings/runs are very reminiscent of what one would hear in Motown as opposed to country. You were obviously looking for something to be offended over and were compelled to give an unnecessary speech to draw a cheering section. I don't think anyone with even a modicum of intelligence will actually fall for it, however.
I had never heard of Outlaw State of Mind so I looked it up when I read your comment. I was smiling from the first line he sang. Oh my goodness. I was feeling Hank Jr. all through that song!
You guys nailed it on the head. This song is a cover of cover. Many people have redone this song. It’s actually like a 40 year old song. But Chris Stapleton is the first to slow it down into a blues country song, that with the runs and rich voice, BOOM a HIT
2:00 in and you talked about the runs and your ears perking up I could not wait for you to get to the chorus! 😁 Chris is a badass I love what you guys are doin. Be easy. ❤️
Because you both loved one of the greatest artists in music history...I'm proudly subscribing...can't wait to see your other reactions. I really like your enthusiasm from finding this great rendition of Tennessee Whiskey....you ought to research Chris Stapleton, for he has written hundreds of songs for various artist, lettered in multiple sports in school, and his wife is super talented too. He seems like a really good person. Thanks for the great video.
This song was written in 1981 originally recorded by David Allan Coe then recorded by George Jones who took it to number 2 on the charts in 1983. And thank goodness for Chris Stapletons bluesy version also featured Justin Timberlake brought this great song to the forefront again and was certified quadruple platinum. Keep on enjoying and reviewing guys. New sub here🇨🇦
Gained a subscriber. Thanks for the genuine reaction. Not every song or type of music is for everyone. Giving an open minded opportunity for a genre to speak to you....thank you. From an old white dude who grew up on music like this and stopped listening to rap when Pac died....
I've watched this reaction to this song about twenty times since it came out, and it's only second to your reaction to pneuma. I'll come back to it again down the road, but this was the reaction that hooked me on this channel.
I pushed my man off of me when I seen the notification this is one of my favorite songs Edit: didnt know my comment would get so much attention thanks guys make sure you subscribe
I've already liked this song for some time now, but watching these two guys discover it is a joy to watch and I've watched it several times for over a year now.
This is not just country, but an algamation of his tastes based on the American styles of music. It's Americana. Country, blues, soul, gospel.... great stuff.
I kind of like how Country, Blues, and Soul have been re-integrating lately; it's always refreshing to hear something that's in a genre you wouldn't normally listen to, but familiar enough that you can appreciate and enjoy it musically.
I want to tell you that this was my first reaction video I ever watched and because of it I was introduced to some wonderful music and informative thoughts about that music. It happened when I was in a strange city while visiting a very sick close relative who ended up in the hospital and I was alone and off kilter. This video helped me breathe and I also found a smile. Thank you for having such a love for music and for being honest about your original feelings, still gives me a smile. Edit: I originally watched this video about 2 years ago. I come back now and again to re-watch it. *Note: Funny thing happened on the way home was I was waiting for my plane home and was at a restaurant in the airport when Tennessee Whiskey came on their radio/playlist (?). I had never heard of it until seeing this reaction video. Made me smile.
He has some Sam Cooke in his runs... and that's the highest compliment you can pay a singer. This is a cover. David Allan Coe did the original in '81 and George Jones also recorded it in '83. There's nothing like Chris Stapleton's cover though. I'm not the biggest Country dude, but this dude is definitely Blues Gospel Soul....
I can't count how many times someone's tried to tell me to listen to a song and I read the name of the band or the title of the song and just thought "Please kill me," and sometimes even put it off for years and when I finally get around to listening to it I just get blown away. So I understand completely where you guys are comin' from.
king Quan : All great music is essentially soul music, call it country, rock, etc but at the end of the day it’s soul music...people call Superunknown by Soundgarden a grunge album which part of it may be but as a whole it’s a album of Soul music....his songs come from his soul & it’s undeniable
Chris Stapleton's Fire Away. The first time I heard it, I thought it was just about "hitting below the belt" with words, like "hey just fire away" AND THEN I watched the video and I cried and I cried and I cried. I am from Georgia but I love music of all genres from Hank Williams to Tupac. Country music tells stories. It is the most intricate and intimate part of their core. Fire Away as a song is amazing. Fire Away as the song WITH the video added is an experience. I know you guys are huge Chris Stapleton fans. I would love to hear you break it down. Y'all are so on point with your break downs of country music, I would love to get your take on that song. Thank you for doing all genres and putting so much dedication and time into your reactions. I have been watching your page NON stop for days.
There’s a video on here of Tyler Perry on stage during a Madea show, and he saw Chris in the audience. So he stops the whole show to have him sing TN Whiskey. It was beautiful.

Odette Stremel listen to Chris millionaire song
Singing "pain" knows no race, sex or color.
FunFact: That's his wife singing harmonies in the chorus. 🤘🏻
Other Mike alway wondered who was singing backup. She sounds just as good as him.
Morgane his wife has a few songs of her own.
Morgan❤️
If you catch some of Stapleton early shows on RUclips, his wife is usually singing with him and she is an amazing singer also. She deserves her own acknowledgements.
No it’s not
I was introduced to this song a year or so ago and he shot right up into my playlist, one hell of a song and one hell of a voice. You FEEL every note and the heart he puts into every word. Gives me goosebumps!
I've come to learn AND understand, how literally beautiful all forms of music are through this channel. Dope man
Just so you guys know, these reaction videos you're doing on here go much further then "reactions" on cam. When I scroll down to read the comments I see people of all races, religions, etc all being open minded to different cultures. I appreciate you guys for doing something real on your channel.
And we appreciate you for giving us a shot Justin! Thank you for your support!
Lang is great man good call
This reaction made me subscribe - just the way you totally appreciated this song....and your heartfelt reactions ♥ from South Africa.
Me too
ditto
Net so
Welp. You can add another South African subscriber to the total.
And me.
Great collaboration!
People: I don’t fw country music
Chris Stapleton: Hang on a second, hand me the mic
Yess🤣🤣🤣
Actually Chris was more like: Oh, they don’t like country? Hold my beer...
@@popej611 😂😂😂😂
John Pope hold my whisky**
Exactly absolutely correct!!! Then he would say you don't do what now LOL
This should be everyone’s first experience with country 😂
Its greatness, but its not the best intro to country only because it is more blues/soul than country.
@@lordblue223 I totally agree on that. I just think it’s a great song to open the door and because of its blues qualities tied in with country I think a lot more people would be receptive to trying other country music.
First experience with black soul music you mean? It's not country. Just a country singer.
This was mine. My next was recent Elvie Shane's "My boy" brought tears to my eyes
This is literally an Etta James song with the lyrics from Tennessee Whiskey over it. The lyrics are the only trad country part.
that whole traveller album is fire.
Every Album is fire from the core of the sun.
Mitch Colon facts!!!
This is by far my favorite reaction video. The joy is these guys voices and faces says it all. Salud!
Alesha P same here! Came up as a recommendation from Hurt by JC and have been listening for 3 hours
Alesha P AGREED!!
I came in a very similar fashion! Love these guys!
“Down the lost in Vegas rabbit hole” is the perfect summary for what happened when I first checked these guys out.
Outstanding channel y’all. Outstanding.
Same!!
When you all say stuff like “these are the runs we know” etc. these are the runs I know, I’m a white guy from Kentucky and I love country music. My point is we’re more alike than people think. I loved this video guys keep it up
Half white girl from the sticks of Kentucky here. Good music is undeniable. Even better when it's from a fellow Bluegrass State artist.
🎤🎧🎼🎵🎶🎹🎻🎺🎷🎸
La Vas amazing how music can sooth the soul and make us appreciate each other.
This may be packaged as country, but you can hear Motown soul all over the place.
Papa, I agree with you.........lots of music cross genres (sp?)
@@distantstorm3808 BINGO!!!
I love this reaction...I've watched so many times and every time it's awesome.
I come back to this video regularly. It’s just enjoyable to see y’all enjoy it. Outlaw State of Mind. Chris Stapleton.
Oeewwh...you're cute!!
George Jones did the cover, right?
It's actually a lyrical cover of a cover blended with the music from a completely different song (ie Etta James)
2:00 in and you talked about the runs and your ears perking up I could not wait for you to get to the chorus! 😁
Chris is a badass
I love what you guys are doin.
Be easy. ❤️
I really enjoy these Tennessee whiskey reaction videos! Dude can sing, and the Song is great!
No joke. Just the first few seconds into this song. I paused your video and downloaded everything I could find for him on my Prime app. Holy shit!!!
It's ashame you guys only have 1.3 million cause I've watched y'all react to this video 1000 times.. Love you guys.. Shout out from TEXAS!
Tennessee whiskey the best song keep up the good work u got a great voice for country music even though I am a blues fan
Me too..luv watching their reactions...I watch them at least 4x a week...lol
I watch it often! Makes me smile!
Thanks for the great video.
bearded man I agree! And sturgill simpson is another great artist.
Make art not war 74 checking him out now.....thanks for the suggestion
bearded man that beard! Bro! I’m a year in and ain’t got shit on that. How long?
bearded man Ya. Dude wrote many hits long before anyone knew his name. He’s an ample example of a great musician.
Chris covered this older country song and added an awesome bluesy soul groove to it. love this version. The man rocks. tx
People: Country music sucks.
Chris Stapleton: Hold my beer.
Ona did you mean “hold my whiskey”
You missed a trick there...
so you came in to just complain about country...lol
More like “hold my bottle of jack”
Preach
This song was written in 1981 originally recorded by David Allan Coe then recorded by George Jones who took it to number 2 on the charts in 1983. And thank goodness for Chris Stapletons bluesy version also featured Justin Timberlake brought this great song to the forefront again and was certified quadruple platinum.
Keep on enjoying and reviewing guys. New sub here🇨🇦
Chris wrote this tool..
I enjoy reading the history of the musicians and songs from everyone.
Jeff Gunn actually Dean Dillon, Linda Hargrove and David Allan Coe wrote this song
@@jeffgunn3973 This song was song by David Allan Coe in the early 80's. Chris just sings it differently.
Patsy Ricker he wrote it
Gained a subscriber.
This was my exact reaction to this song. Respect gentlemen. Love what you guys do. It's good for the human race.
I pushed my man off of me when I seen the notification this is one of my favorite songs
Edit: didnt know my comment would get so much attention thanks guys make sure you subscribe
LMAO!!!! 😂😂❤️❤️
nadedje ndaikeza lol
Hahaha ... I feel you on that
Did you pull him back on when it was over?
Put a foot on his chest then judo flip him out of the bed.
It seems to riff on "I'd Rather Go Blind" from Etta James. That's why it sounds familiar.
It is I'd rather go blind.
This song has been around since David Allan Coe originally recorded it. It has also been done by George Jones. And just btw, I'm a metal head. 😂😂
Just seems?!?! Lol
THIS made the playlist
Jamey Johnson- "In Color"- great imagery, strong lyrics, classic country sound. Nostalgic.
Kim Howard agreed... Also, between Jennings and Jones
Yes please!!
I was just thinking this!
Agree
Too many songs to chose from him the most underrated country artist in my opinion
I've already liked this song for some time now, but watching these two guys discover it is a joy to watch and I've watched it several times for over a year now.
I don't even like country music, but this song I listen to all the time.
@lostinvegas the highlight of the reaction movement is 4:01 “Aw...he is BODYING this song”
This is not just country, but an algamation of his tastes based on the American styles of music. It's Americana. Country, blues, soul, gospel.... great stuff.
You just got me hooked on this guy. I grew up on outlaw country...watched it fade away...and thank God it's back. Thanks guys!
I love watching these reactions for songs I know and I'm like "oh they're going to flip at this part" ha
This review is the GOAT of the entire reviewing phenomenon and the best part was, "Ahh...he is BODYin' this song"
First time hearing this song brought real tears to my eyes no cap. This guy is clearly gifted no question 👍🏾👌🏾✨
Me too brother..me too
even though ive seen this video i always come back every couple months and watch this. puts a smile on my face. thanks guys
I must say that I do not believe Chris Stapleton is writing me. I hate scammers, they really peeve me. So, whoever you are pi$$ off!
LJ Clark Willie Nelson has his version too but Chris just does it for me .. lol
I called my Daddy (who introduced me to Sam Cooke's music) tonight and told him he had to hear this song for the same reason!
George Jones also did this song, but as good Chris.
“Seems like somebody black would have told me about it” 😂😭🤤
Gina Poalero Wagnon lol when you hit those little runs black people's ears perk up.
Proof that pain, music, life, and soul belongs to EVERYONE.
Hi
Gina poalero you sexy as fuck .
😂😂
I can't count how many times someone's tried to tell me to listen to a song and I read the name of the band or the title of the song and just thought "Please kill me," and sometimes even put it off for years and when I finally get around to listening to it I just get blown away.
So I understand completely where you guys are comin' from.
You guys had me smiling ear to ear watching you hear him. Great dynamic!
Chris takes you to church when he sings... its like he channels the Reverend Al Green and David Ruffin
Agree
Good music is good music. It don't matter what color you are.
Amen
Love
Truth!!!
king Quan : All great music is essentially soul music, call it country, rock, etc but at the end of the day it’s soul music...people call Superunknown by Soundgarden a grunge album which part of it may be but as a whole it’s a album of Soul music....his songs come from his soul & it’s undeniable
Fire Away is amazing, hit me right in the feels!
Yes please. That one was deep.
A hundred times yes.
There’s a video on here of Tyler Perry on stage during a Madea show, and he saw Chris in the audience. So he stops the whole show to have him sing TN Whiskey. It was beautiful.
I love this reaction SO MUCH that I've watched it probably 20 times 😂 I've shared it with family and friends. LOVE IT!
