This is one of my favorite LIV video's and I come back to watch occasionally. The one thing that does not get enough credit is most of Stapleton's songs is the role his wife plays with the background vocals. She provides what is not too much, but not too little, just the perfect amount of background vocals.

I thought I was sealed into the pop genre YET my 3 kids introduced me to others. When kids ask a parent to “come listen to this” do. Why? You learn good music AND they begin to talk about their lives. My first son had me listen to Marilyn Manson, Hole. Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, my 2nd son to Pink Floyd/other 60’s bands, my daughter country, rap, hip hop. The last 2 catagories astounded me but the music’s good.

I want to tell you that this was my first reaction video I ever watched and because of it I was introduced to some wonderful music and informative thoughts about that music. It happened when I was in a strange city while visiting a very sick close relative who ended up in the hospital and I was alone and off kilter. This video helped me breathe and I also found a smile. Thank you for having such a love for music and for being honest about your original feelings, still gives me a smile. Edit: I originally watched this video about 2 years ago. I come back now and again to re-watch it. *Note: Funny thing happened on the way home was I was waiting for my plane home and was at a restaurant in the airport when Tennessee Whiskey came on their radio/playlist (?). I had never heard of it until seeing this reaction video. Made me smile.

The vocal stylings/runs are very reminiscent of what one would hear in Motown as opposed to country. "midnight in harlem" by the Tedeschi Trucks band. the lead singer and the guitarist are married and each had their own band then brought them together and formed this band. theyre a multi racial band so everyone brings their own style. listen to the first 30 seconds and it will speak for its self. And I agree with you I hate some of these new pop songs that are “country”, they’re garbage but don’t disrespect these guys man. Sam Hunt and Kane Brown and some of these new singers are not true country but Jason and Dierks were real country singers man just some of they’re songs aren’t country and don’t let that change your mind on them totally because some of they’re songs are really good true country songs!

I will tell ya Brothers......I'm mostly a metal head, classic rock, and some jazz/rnb...... but Chris made me really love his country blues take on country......so soulful...... such emotion !!! So transparent into the artists soul. I appreciate you Chris..... and both y'all for loving this! 👍🤘🎶🎶🎶🎶🥰

king Quan : All great music is essentially soul music, call it country, rock, etc but at the end of the day it’s soul music...people call Superunknown by Soundgarden a grunge album which part of it may be but as a whole it’s a album of Soul music....his songs come from his soul & it’s undeniable
