I have a theory about Chris Stapleton. Everybody knows that R&B and Country music are closely related, One night R&B and Country got drunk and became kissing cousins and the result was a mutant child with the vocal ability to wield the power of the gods themselves. R&B is a product of old world Country/Blue Grass. All modern musics roots are in Country. So, this style is reflective of the Old country roots of blues.
I saw an interview about Chris once, he said his dad liked outlaw country and r&b. When his dad died he decided to make an album his dad would enjoy.

These guys are awesome. Out of the dozens of "reaction" posters here on RUclips, they are the ones I enjoy most. They analyze the songs they're listening to with great detail and you can definitely notice if they're really enjoying what's being listened to. It's also cool to see that "white" music is not so unknown to the black community anymore, due to guys like them. So, here in miserable 2020 when the pandemic and racial divide is devastating all of us, it's really nice to see harmony among folks with different colors who are connected by one simple thing: MUSIC.

I'm not a modern day Country Music fan, but someone sent me a song and demanded I listened to it. It was this one. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! My God! I came off my couch! After that I went into finding his albums. Absolutely phenomenal voice!
I've seen him in concert twice and have tickets already for 2023 because he is freaking awesome in concert.

Most people are familiar with his Traveler album. But From A Room Vol I and From A Room Vol II are smashers. Get em. Also, if you really like him and need more, dig into the band The Steeldrivers. He sings a lot of lead for them, there's two other singers as well, a lady and another guy, but I would say Chris does the lions share. They're incredible.
He's said several times in interviews that he was influenced by Outlaw Country and R&B from the 70's.
killatella90 the r&b from the 70s part makes perfect sense as to why his sound feels like home although I've never really listened to country.
jessica bonner I came across him by accident several years while watching Adele sing a song called "If it hadn't been for love". If you know anything about Adele then you know she likes to talk and she was talking this song by a bluegrass group called "The Steeldrivers". Of course I had to look them up and I was blown away by Chris Stapleton's voice. At the time he was no longer in the group but still did not have his own record contract and I couldn't believe that.

Chris Stapleton is a musical genius.. He's been writing songs for well known country singers for years.. He also wrote a song for Adele.. I was so happy when he released his own albums because not only can he write a lyric he can sing one!

Just a small tidbit, Chris Stapleton has a degree ( I think a masters) in Engineering! He went to college first then began his music career! Thank God he chose music! He also plays all the great guitar riffs you guys like. And if you get to see him live, you can literally feel his voice in your chest! It’s great!
