I was UP, SCREAMING AT THE TV! YALL BETTA SANG BOYS!! Every bit of this performance.. unreal!! EPIC. THE KIDS, CHRIS' BAND MORGANNE!!! BEST PERFORMANCE IN AWARDS SHOW HISTORY!!! Never get tired of watching it. PHENOMENAL!!
I have seen this performance SO MANY TIMES and I am still brought to tears every time. Just pure joy, the height of musical excellence and effortless unity between artists!! UGH so good. SOOOOO GOOD. I could go on forever. This performance could move mountains I shit you not!!
This was the best performance ever !! Every other country artist said they were jealous of this performance because they wished it was them . This was the moment I became a die hard Chris Stapleton fan .
12:44 I'm convinced that they were saying "send it to Chris" and then he just SMOKES IT. Blows the roof off. Listen to the crowd after Stapleton wails.
I worked on the Say Something music video. That guy isn’t Justin’s base player, it’s his musical director foe his tour. I had the pleasure of hearing that band two days in a row and got payed to be there!!
Best performance EVER on any award show EVER ‼️ thanks for breaking it down for us like you did, this moves me to tears just about every time I watch it.
"That weightless feeling, the point where they're are no bad notes. Where you're absolutely fearless, it's that place that we all aspire to get to, and it's what hooked us. It's why we do what we do with our lives."
I remember watching this and man my bones were shook! This performance had so much “stank”on it! You know the face you make when you’re feeling the music, the lyrics, the love poured into a song?! Yep, that’s the stank!
AWESOME PERFORMANCE!!! The 32 dislikes....They do not understand music. What music is. What music can do. The power of the sound and comradery of a group of musicians coming together to create this moment. Thank you for the commentary. Love the passion!
I've watched this performance a gazillion times, but this is the first time I've had the absolute thrill of enjoying it along with someone who also gets tore up from the floor up by everything that's happening on that stage! Besides the excellence of the musicianship in each and every stinkin one of them...the shouts and reactions of each and every one of them TO that excellence just stirs something in ya. "Tore up from the floor up"!! To me, this IS the greatest performance I've seen at an Awards show. Just my opinion. TY for breaking it down at every single, solitary moment I have rewound over and over again cause it was so dang cool it had to be enjoyed again. Loved this. By the way, the guitarist standing behind Justin when second song started is Mike Scott. Also played with Prince for a few years.
Agree with this 100%. I have probably listened to this performance a million times since it aired. To me it is the best of all time in an award show like this. I am a musician/singer so the appreciation for all of this collaboration is something you appreciate even more from a performance point of view. It is absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing and there were things that you noticed in there that I had not noticed before.

A few times I was distracted from Chris' and Justin's performance because I was caught up in the subtle notes Morgane hits. Maybe because I'm more than familiar with the original tune, I really appreciated what Morgane and Justin added
Dude I have been searching for someone on here that watches this and breakdown everything and appreciates all of the little intricate things going on in the background. The build ups and silences! The Tennessee kids are a monster of a band. And Chris’s band works well with them! This performance was incredible! I’m happy to find someone that sees it the way I have! Straight up jam session with legends! Love to the horns!
@@Cooley10 see I mis-read and mis-spoke.. ty foe the clarification.. what I “”thought I read” was Both, the Tennessee kids are absolutely unbelievable.. when had I paid attention I would have seen that it said “Bro, the Tennessee Kids are absolutely unbelievable”.. I assumed.. and wrongly so.. but.. all of the artist; especially the ones playing instruments or singing back up are fabulous and these guys feed off each other and the crowd.. kudos to them for killing it!
This is just a pure high that can't be matched by any drink or drug on this earth. Music isn't just a bunch of people making noises. It's people that know how to place pieces of different instruments and vocals in the right place at the right time. They hear the song before they sing/play the song. It's a magical gift that not many people have but it's still out there now a days. But being on that stage I can only imagine how those musicians felt. Like they're invincible and on a cloud floating above everybody in the crowd. The only noises are the ones they're producing, and causing in the crowd reaction.
You know, we old Dust Farters have a tendency to dismiss Justin as "just a boy-band pop singer," but he's grown up to be a really great talent. Dude's got a set of pipes on him and knows how to use them!
Best performance I think I’ve ever seen honestly! The band was a huge part of the feel & perfection of the performance! JT & CS killed the vocals too!!
I wish someone would acknowledge his wife’s voice!! She sounds amazing. I saw someone say duo, but it’s a trio up there. They all sound amazing together.
Michael, I am so grateful you reacted to this! This is and has been my number 1 favorite live performance. I saw it live on TV when it happened and is most definitely the most watched video for me. I still get chills, every time without fail. You described this experience perfectly the build ups, those outrageous diminished chords, and the love and ego between the musicians. Justin told Chris beforehand something along the lines of "We just need to get you out there and let you shine one time, and the rest will be yours." This absolutely did that for Chris. The best moment is where Justin yells to Chris "Take it", the band drops out and he sings 2 of the most iconic growling high notes that just turned the entire audience into a frenzy. Best audience reactions were Little Big Town losing it when Justin did the high note run while pointing his finger, and Jerry Douglas's face with Sam Hunt behind him. There was so much respect from all the great musicians and artists in the audience. They all realized they were witnessing a magical musical moment, and totally appreciated it. Thank you again Michael!
Not only are these two songs bad-ass-ingly good! It's SO cool to learn the small dynamics going on in a band live on stage for a person that's never played in a band and therefore don't know them. Thanks!!
Having been a HUGE Stapleton fan for years y'all they knew it was BOUT TO GO DOWN!! They had a PARTY UP IN THERE with that performance and the PLACE was LIT!!
It just doesn't get any better than this!! Just awesome...wonder how long they had to practice this song...Chris and Justin's vocals were insane! Can't say enough...😂😂😂❤❤

The band is so tight Chris omg so powerful those runs move me to tears The female singer adds so much depth and soul And Justin’s willingness to take chances = The best live performance of all time. Thank you.
What I love about your review/reaction to this performance is that as a musician, you experienced the WHOLE entire performance. LOVE how you described the fun, the talent, the POCKET! Only musicians get that. I love going to/playing a concert, show, gig where the entire band is rolling! The audience is getting a treat when the energy is like this. Well done breaking this down!!
Michael--most of the audience realizes that they are present for a masterpiece. It is such a unique moment in musical performance. Many in that audience are mesmerized, if not also, stunned, but they are swept into it-it cannot be resisted.
I've been saying it for years. The doods a scratch golfer, decent bball player, actor, singer, song writer, plays several instruments and has worked with the largest talent in the music industry. It still blows my mind that he wrote SO many number one hits for Beyonce, Jay Z, Rihanna, Sia and many many more.

Wow. You speak the truth. The musician/person who actually notices the facial expressions of all the other musicians and recognizes the meaning, well, you get it. That's when the magic is happening. There is so much going on that a general audience just isn't clued into noticing. Nice and thorough evaluation. Damn great performance. Kudos.

Thanks. I hadn't heard the second song, but the enthusiasm of the whole band was infectious!
There’s nothing better than watching people who just absolutely love their craft….they appreciate the artistry. And I’m not just talking about the performers. I’m looking at you Michael. Well, WELL done!
The thing about music... when it is done at this level of mastery, it can be easy to not even realize it. Mike, you do a fantastic job of articulating what is really going on for people who have never played. NICE!

I watch this performance constantly! The arrangement is just absolutely insane. Justin’s band is unbelievable! Watching how excited this made you was exactly how I felt the first time I watched it. I think I just sat there with my mouth open. Every single person in that audience was feeling the same thing too!!
I really needed this today! My husband and I have had this on our DVR for years and every now and then we would go back and play it again and remember how we felt when we were watching it live. Like we were going Holy SHIT! while these two songs were jamming. We are big fans of both artists so to see them play together was FIRE. Anyway, we cut cable and lost all of our recordings so we haven't watched this in a long time. Thanks so much for your input!!!

Beverly and I'm 70 and I agree with you 100%, best all time performance ever and there are lots of good musicians out there great Masters this is probably the best of my lifetime as well as far as I'm concerned
At 75+ I’ve just discovered music nirvana !!!!
That guy isn’t Justin’s base player, it’s his
musical director foe his tour. I had the pleasure of hearing that band two days in a row and got payed to be there!!
now you're talking! Thanks!
Do you have any idea how jealous we are? Dayummmm that would have been awesome.
Throughout the whole performance Justin was encouraging to Chris telling him to “get it” and it’s freaking awesome
Yes 🙌🏽 he was💯💯🔥🔥🔥
Best performance EVER on any award show EVER ‼️ thanks for breaking it down for us like you did, this moves me to tears just about every time I watch it.
"That weightless feeling, the point where they're are no bad notes. Where you're absolutely fearless, it's that place that we all aspire to get to, and it's what hooked us. It's why we do what we do with our lives."
That’s it.
In sports it's commonly referred to as being "in the zone"!
dang.
The WAY he says this line...gives me goosebumps.
It happens in that space of time between the past and future called "the present moment" where thought does not exist.
Absolutely love how they fed off each other in this collaboration. Positively one of the greatest performances ever.
I've never seen chemistry between any band members on stage like i just saw. That was utterly breathtaking. No words..
Agreed. 100% best duo on stage , ever. My chills had chills. Prob watched this 200 times. These two elevated souls that night.
Right on!
@@Guitargate You just posted your video a week ago!! It happened in 2015. When was the first time you saw/heard this? I have been watching it multiple times a day for months and months. I can't stop. Now I am addicted to your channel. You are amazeballs. And your Dead reactions and your theory??? Wtf?!! Who are you? You are a gem man. You fricking glow in the dark. Damn!!!!!!! If only you were around when I was going to those shows and totally geeking out on set lists and music theory in between shows with my friends. I can' t stop. You are a god.
@Chris Stapleton Will you please stop this?! Getting pretty tiresome, you've just been reported.
Morgane is passed over in a lot of reactions but every song would be so much different without her. She really is the icing on every song.
I totally agree! Hopefully one day she'll have her own recording on one of his albums. Maybe switch up, let her lead and Chris back her up!
@@greeneyesn they actually covered "You Are My Sunshine" where Morgane led and Chris was backup
Absolutely. I LOVE watching her in this performance because she is SO stoked and SO caught up in the moment.
A few times I was distracted from Chris' and Justin's performance because I was caught up in the subtle notes Morgane hits. Maybe because I'm more than familiar with the original tune, I really appreciated what Morgane and Justin added
Agreed! I was wondering why he didn’t mention her
Dude I have been searching for someone on here that watches this and breakdown everything and appreciates all of the little intricate things going on in the background. The build ups and silences! The Tennessee kids are a monster of a band. And Chris’s band works well with them! This performance was incredible! I’m happy to find someone that sees it the way I have! Straight up jam session with legends! Love to the horns!
Adam Blackstone (JT's music director) deserves so many props. Also, I 100% agree this the BEST award show performance ever.
Bro, the Tennessee Kids are absolutely unbelievable. JT’s live performances are on another level and that band are a major reason.
Both are great artists but Justin is the only one from Tennessee... Chris is from Kentucky .. -but they are boarding states sooooooo, lol
@@rakkdoc7758 the band is called the Tennessee kids
@@Cooley10 see I mis-read and mis-spoke.. ty foe the clarification.. what I “”thought I read” was Both, the Tennessee kids are absolutely unbelievable.. when had I paid attention I would have seen that it said “Bro, the Tennessee Kids are absolutely unbelievable”.. I assumed.. and wrongly so.. but.. all of the artist; especially the ones playing instruments or singing back up are fabulous and these guys feed off each other and the crowd.. kudos to them for killing it!
JT has a concert film with them.
Chris is a Eastern Kentucky boy:-)
CORRECT!
Amen
He's got LOADS of talent
I knew the first time I saw JT in the boy band that he had the most talent.
in other words: that lil shit rocked it ;-)
Best performance I think I’ve ever seen honestly!
Morgan’s harmonies are so subtle but are amazing. She’s up there with 2 of the greatest vocalist of our time and she’s killing it !
She's such an important part of Chris's music.
Agreed! Have always had wicked respect for her.
Speaking of amazing duos, John Mayer and Keith Urban playing "till summer comes around" is beautiful
Fuck yes the whole set is amazing
John Mayer with Alicia Keys in Times Square is also incredible.
@@ctubridy I can get lost in the rabbit hole watching alicia keys, her voice and playing style blow my mind
Man, thank you for this. I’ve never heard that song before and now it’s my new favorite
i am in no way a musician, but watching how excited you get talking about this perfect performance somehow makes it even better.
well played good sir
Not only are these two songs bad-ass-ingly good! It's SO cool to learn the small dynamics going on in a band live on stage for a person that's never played in a band and therefore don't know them. Thanks!!
Justin really surpassed that boy band phase he is a full fledged musician now
Yea like 14 years ago...
Whoever did the arrangement had FUN with this.
OMG it's such a big deal.
I imagine the scene from It's Always Sunny when charlie is trying to find out who Pepe Silva is.
Having been a HUGE Stapleton fan for years y'all they knew it was BOUT TO GO DOWN!! They had a PARTY UP IN THERE with that performance and the PLACE was LIT!!
I'm not a musician, but your analysis of the music has exponentially improved my appreciation of music
It just doesn't get any better than this!! Just awesome...wonder how long they had to practice this song...Chris and Justin's vocals were insane! Can't say enough...😂😂😂❤❤
I live just outside of Nashville. Raised up here on country music. I've seen this at least a hundred times. Seen many reactions to it. You've done the best job of breaking it down and pointing out nuances everyone else misses. Starting now you are my favorite reactor.
There will NEVER be a better performance on ANY awards show. Turn out the lights...
Mic drop then turn out the lights LOLOLLOLO 😂‼️
Nothing like seeing a genuine reaction to a set like this, its so refreshing
The band is so tight
Chris omg so powerful those runs move me to tears
The female singer adds so much depth and soul
And Justin’s willingness to take chances
=
The best live performance of all time.
No one gives Justin Timberlake enough credit for his musical talents! There I said it!
You are so right and his band is off the charts
I've been saying it for years. The doods a scratch golfer, decent bball player, actor, singer, song writer, plays several instruments and has worked with the largest talent in the music industry. It still blows my mind that he wrote SO many number one hits for Beyonce, Jay Z, Rihanna, Sia and many many more.
@@mattmays9063 he is also a good man and stands up for people and what's right. He was teased as a kid for being "different". I would love to be different like him any day of the week.
Agreed!! Great mashup!!
YES SIR!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE watching Country Music royalty being absolutely BLOWN AWAY by Justin Timberlake stepping to the plate and offering an equal performance in this company. CRUSHED it!!!
You are right Michael. They absolutely crushed this. I keep watching this over and over.
Wow. You speak the truth. The musician/person who actually notices the facial expressions of all the other musicians and recognizes the meaning, well, you get it. That's when the magic is happening. There is so much going on that a general audience just isn't clued into noticing. Nice and thorough evaluation. Damn great performance. Kudos.
I’m going to step out on a limb say that you really enjoyed this performance.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I am obsessed with this performance. I play it all the time and my family doesn’t understand my enthusiasm. This was so fun to watch you enjoy this the same way I do! I love this it makes me so happy to watch your reactions. Thank you
I am mesmerized watching Michael watching Justin and Chris...his reactions truly are epic!
Talk about the "SWEET SPOT"‼️
It's so easy to tell that EVERY single person on stage is having the time of their life‼️ And that excitement spread to the audience‼️ And to those of us watching on TV too‼️ I go & watch this whenever I want to get HAPPY‼️🙌
Michael, you really are the most engaging person I follow on RUclips. I honestly don't understand half the musical jargon of which you speak but it's so compelling and your enthusisam towards everything you see and watch is so infectious I can't switch off. Love it
Michael- your enthusiasm is so infectious! You help all of us appreciate the music we love so much more deeply. I’m not a musician, I’m actually a tree climber, but when I have a bad day I like to watch your videos and your passion for music never fails to raise my spirits. Thank you so much for sharing your love, truth and passion with us!
It’s the eye rubbing for me 🤣
Bro, we need more like you to get people excited about proper music and musicians again. I’m watching absolutely exhausted after work and you got me FIRED UP. Your enthusiasm is electric.
I've watched a few Tennessee Whiskey reactions and now a couple of the Chris/Justin ones and I have to say that you are the first person that called attention to and made me appreciate all the nuances of what went into this performance. Thanks. I hadn't heard the second song, but the enthusiasm of the whole band was infectious!
Michael Palmisano, I have watched this reaction so many times because of your passion for the music! You make it so fun. Thank you for dealers choice!
Michael I keep coming back to this video. Well done, you rock. Thanks for what you do.
Justin and Morgan’s harmonies are tight. Morgan killin it on Drink Away.
The horns, the horns...oh yes. That made my Saturday morning. TYVM.
Every time I hear 'em I think. Otis Redding!
Truly one of the greatest live performances ever , regardless of genre . I get goose bumps watching .
NICE!
I remember that show. It was an "oh damn!" moment for sure. I just wept while watching it again with you Michael. Every scintilla of the reverence you so perfectly articulated also courses through my veins. To have had even a single moment like that with some other cats on stage or in a basement...we are the lucky ones. Pure love.
I mean this in ONLY the best ways possible, this performance is just NASTY, and so FILTHY DIRTY, just so completely perfect. If you listen to this, and you don't make guitar/soul singing/depths-of-your-soul faces, you don't deserve to hear how amazing this is. Everything about it is so frigging PERFECT!!!
Wow, you really understand the feeling, a gestalt of stars. That intermingled rush when you know you're with it, every other member of the band, in the groove, and you can sing harmonic circles around a melody. It's the closest thing to magic that I have ever found.
this was a church revival, this performance reached the soul of everyone who had the privilege of listening !!! this was music magic!!!! from that first note you knew this was going to be magical
You are good, dude! I thought, when I started, I would listen to you for a sec and get out. Nope! You hooked me! And, you KNOW waht to listen for! I've watched this many times. This MADE the whole show! As you rightly said; these moments are fleeting! Massive!
I love this video of JT and Chris Stapleton collaborating. I’ve seen so many reactions to it but this is my favorite! As a musician I love the way that you break down this performance and point out all the little things that most people miss. It’s awesome!
Such magic! I love how you devour this music with such awe and appreciation. Some people look at me funny when I react this way to the music I hear, that is because the just don't get it! YOU get it.
THANK YOU Michael!!!! I don't know how it's taken so long for me to come across this post, but thank you! I'm literally in tears, watching and listening to you dissect and appeciate the hell out of this performance. I can't tell you how many times I have watched this, but seeing you enjoy it, play air drums, move your hands and fingers during the runs and just FEEL the performance.... it's nice to know there are others out there like me. LOL Oh. So. Good. 🎵 🤩
You are so welcome! Go on and be you’re bad self girl
Reactions to Chris Stapleton and JT never get old. Just goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. JT representing west Tennessee!
Probably the greatest live performance ever. I thought I’d caught most of the intricacies in the music and rhythm with my 1000s of views but I love how you pick up on some of simple things that make the music go. Great reaction as always.
I haven't even started watching this video yet but I know its gonna be amazing. This performance was one of the greatest performances ever. Hell yeah brother let's get into this!
Love that synchronicity between ALL of the musicians on stage. just makes ya do a happy wiggle and makes ya wanna laugh❤
